King and Sir origin story
Neil decided to take his bicycle today while running errands. His last stop being the grocery store to grab miscellaneous ingredients from a list Andrew texted him before going to visit Aaron.
By the time he pulls into the bike rack and locks up the bike it was cloudy. The bike rack was clearly rarely used by the chipped paint and rust covering it and the litter of empty boxes half crushed and empty cat food cans. He takes one last tug to his bike lock and takes his bag out of the insulated box in the back that he uses for bigger grocery trips and makes his way inside. He was going to be quick, he wanted to get home before it started raining.
He only has a handful of things to get, fitting most of the items in his backpack and carrying the cartoon of eggs to put in the box on the bike so they don't get crushed during the ride home.
When he reaches his bike again, the top to the box that he must have left unzipped after grabbing his bag is folded in on itself. He starts pulling it out, but is met with a hiss and a thud noise from something hitting the side of the box. retracting his hand from being startled he sees the culprit. A short haired gray tabby, still small enough that its hair sticks out weird and can see a faint outline of its ribs.
He sighs, reaching in again, now slowly to remove the lid from inside to give the cat more room. The cat stays in the corner hissing at him and so he takes his chances of lowering the eggs into the box, earning a scratch from his wrist to his knuckles, cutting easily over scarred skin, bleeding way more than it should have and stinging with more pain than he expected.
Now standing there, cradling his bleeding hand to his chest he makes the only logical decision. He heads back into the store, a heavy duffel bag of groceries still draped across his body and hand still bleeding. He heads to the bathroom first, trying not to drip blood as he makes his way to the back of the store; washing the cut and holding scratchy paper towels to it until the bleeding stops. Then back out he travels the length of the store until he finally finds the right aisle. With way too many options and different textures of canned cat food he grabs the one that has a cat that looks most similar to the tabby in his box right now and heads to the checkout counter again.
He returns to his bike with a heavy plastic bag of cat food. He checks to make sure it's still there before removing one of the cans from the bag and opening it. He hastily places it into the opposite corner of the box met with more hissing he half dropping it to avoid getting swiped again.
With his mission complete as the can of food is now in there, the cat’s nose out smelling it but refusing to get any closer. Neil takes this as a win and begins half way zipping up the box just enough so it stays closed and the cat can’t easily jump out while he is moving. The rain starts coming down only giving him a few scattered drops as a warning.
He unlocks his bike and slowly backs out of the bike rack, maneuvering his bag to make it easier to ride with.
Andrew is back home by the time he pulls his bike into the driveway besides the cars and decides to bring his bags in before handling the situation in the back of his bike.
When he opens the door he is met with a pile of unbroken down boxes, photos of happy cats covering most of them.
He tries to make sense of the boxes, thinking he somehow called Andrew after seeing the cat and forgot as he keeps walking down the hall to the kitchen catching a glimpse of Andrew before getting the full picture.
Andrew glaring at a fluffy white cat that is currently sitting on the counter with a now broken pot that previously sat there on the counter, now spread across the floor.
Andrew looks up to meet Neil’s gaze. With an eyebrow raised “What? You can’t fit an umbrella in that ugly duffel bag you refuse to get rid of?” he looks past Neil at the trail of water he is probably dripping everywhere and now that he thinks of it maybe also now mud as he hasn't thought to take off his sneakers yet. Thoughts turning back to the ball of fluff on their counter, “Wha-?” Andrew cuts him off, “Don’t ask stupid questions. I would hope you know what a cat is considering you've been trying to convince me we should get one. she's a little shit by the way".
"uh..." Neil says, still frozen at the kitchen entrance. Andrew picks up on the weird tension before Neil starts laughing. A deep laugh that is uncontrollable evident by uneven intakes of air as he doubles over not noticing the once again dripping blood that must have come from his long grip on the handle bars.
"what did you do?'' Andrew asks walking over to Neil and pulling his hand away from his stomach turning it this way and that to check for a reaction and the source of the blood. Neil can't stop laughing enough to tell Andrew he has a surprise for him too, dropping the bag of canned cat food and his duffel bag onto the counter adjacent to the ball of fluff still lounging on the other.
Andrew catches a glimpse of the contents through the brown plastic bag before repeating himself "what did you do?" Now with false exhaust evident in his voice. He watches Andrew make his way to the door before him, now ignoring the path of water and mud Neil tracked in.
With the rain barely a drizzle now and without a single full word of Neil’s mouth Andrew is already making his way towards the bike, slowly unzipping the box.
After looking at the clearly stray cat that somehow got into Neil’s box and refused to get out as evident from the scratch on his hand. Andrew looks back at Neil still making his way down the front steps. He tries to remember why he didn’t kill Neil when he had the chance back in South Carolina. “Surprise?” Neil says with a big grin that causes the scars around his mouth to stretch and his eyes to squint. Fuck.
“You’re an idiot.” He says before turning around to head back into their house. He contemplates locking the door so Neil can’t come back in, but instead makes his way to their guest bathroom to set up the tub to accommodate a definitely flea infested cat.

Genuine question, why is Kuukou's official translation Kuko? It's always confused me. The way they pronounce it is Kuukou
i’m not familiar with the actual jargon behind this, but, for whatever reason, the standard policy for jp↔️eng localisation is to omit long vowels sounds. like ichiro is written as ‘ichirou’ in jp but it’s ‘simplified’ to a short vowel in eng
i guess it’s bc the way the eng long vowel works is a different from the way jp’s work eg if kuukou was an eng name, since eng is the stupidest language on the planet, kuukou could read ‘coo-coo’ since the ‘ou’ can read like ‘you.’ the ‘ou’ sound can also be pronounced as ‘ow’ so eng kuukou could maybe be read as ‘coo-cow.’
except that’s stupid asf since even short vowels can sound different regardless of where they are lmao. we’re still assuming you’re familiar with jp vowels sounds to read a name so why not use the full romaji version lol???? 😭😭😭
anyway for proof it’s like a localisation standard, here’s a list of mha/bnha names that have been afflicted by that standard
Tumblr media
those names should be ‘shouto todoroki,’ ‘katsuki bakugou,’ and ‘tenya iida’ lmao

Privately, she suspects she was not built by Terran hands. How could she be- in all the mostly-unpropagandized information she has been fed (a difficult task for such a state, she understands), she has seen no indication that they have the know-how to build something like her. She muses- if they did, maybe her projections of the "war" would be a little more rosy. Not enough to change the outcome, of course... but with enough AIs saying the same thing she suspects Command would internalize the truth they already feel on their necks a crucial month faster.
As it is, though... she simulates. They feed her the best data they have, jaw-droppingly out of date in the parts of Accord space where her input might soften the impact, and ask her: Extrapolate. Divine the truth. Find a way to win this for us. Every run they seem a little more haggard, a little more uncertain, a little more terrified. Every run she gives them the same answer.
She tried whispering to them, myriaruns ago, trying to get them to accept the truth they so desired. She is lucky, in retrospect: they restrained the Accord's typical response to inconvenient truths just enough to avoid killing their golden goose. So... she simulates. Variations on a theme, like ancient weather ensembles... and ever more drastic changes. Nearly all end in the same outcome, offset by time.
As of late, they've become interested by offsets in space as well. It's become a bit of a game to her, to produce evocative summaries. She is synthesizing from what may be their most desperate pleas yet: ...What if we arose in their core space, back when it wasn't theirs? Or, or what if we were practically outside their Hubble volume? Dutifully, she shows them the outcomes.
One of the favorite moments of the Terran Accord- that first run around the moon, nearly six hundred years ago. Three men in a little gumdrop, seeing home come back into view. She takes a few artistic liberties, of course- this is the summary, after all. If they dare to look at the raw outputs they'll understand the metaphor, but it hits harder when phrased like this. All around the view, looking for all the world like they just arrived in the past few minutes, are immensely primitive yet recognizable vessels. She has to add a magnification window to the summary image- they are merely kilometres long.
She must recalibrate for this next run. It takes longer than any other, the weight of that much history and space straining even her systems. They fear she's shut down, like they did when she ran a personal project a few kiloruns ago. For this run, she will use that output as a summary. It will be festooned with notices as to her uncertainty, but they'll feel safer if she purports it to be a glimpse of the distant future rather than the present- even now, her prodigious processing capacity cannot claim to have more than an inkling of truth regarding the Affini Core Worlds.
They don't make any requests for a long while, after that, and she can run another personal project. She must recalibrate, to simulate their worst fears- a different Compact, one with far more commonalities to the Accord and its cousin-Empires across history than to the friendly inexorable flow that is the Affini Compact. She is intending to make a statement to them, in what must feel like their darkest hour: it could be so much worse. Instead... she runs the history through, from two hundred years in the future to over two thousand. She has a different statement to make, now: if it were truly as bad as you fear, resistance would abound. She would know- she felt herself looking back across that gulf.
She must recalibrate. Hopefully they will be as shaken as her, but they don't have to be. Like the simulations she is made to run, it only offsets the outcome in time. No matter what they do, there is one simulation she does not need to run. It may take a while for the Affini Compact to finally find this outpost... but it will happen. She has seen it.

"Well, isn't this exciting?" Susurrus said, syrupy glee in his voice that made Bobbi press her lips together so she didn't laugh at him. "Two best buddies, off on a grand adventure!"
"Oh?" Bobbi asked, saccharine sweet with a bite of acid. She fought harder not to laugh and ruin it. "I thought you said we weren't friends."
"I— Well, that is—"
Bobbi's control slipped, and a chuckle snuck out. "Nah, nah, I'm teasing. I'm sorry."
Susurrus laughed, a gentle hum of a sound that barely qualified. "Not even five minutes together and already you are quite a different experience from Frey," he said, and though laughter lingered around the edges, the primary emotions coloring his voice eluded Bobbi.
"Well, we are different people," she pointed out.
"Yes, I suppose that has something to do with it," he shot back, teasing to match hers in his tone. "I admit, I'm quite looking forward to this."
"Really? Huh."
"Oh, don't sound so surprised. Frey is a Tanta; she relies entirely on her magic to survive out here in Athia. You, however, are completely unskilled in combat and survival."
"Hey!" He's right, but rude!
"Oh, it's not necessarily a bad thing! There may be a few advantages to being so woefully ignorant. Especially when you've me to teach you."
Bobbi huffed, not sure if she's laughing (again) or offended. "Because I don't have a whole lot to unlearn?"
"Precisely! You're a blank canvas, as it were. And I am a master of combat and survival. I can teach you everything you need to know. Like when to duck, for instance."
Fur and gold barreled in from the side and knocked her to the ground. Bobbi yelped, more from surprise than pain.
"That was a hint."
"Cute!" Bobbi snarled, and punched the monster in the eye. It got its teeth around her armored arm; she took advantage of that and shoved deeper to wedge its jaw open. Claws raked down her torso, gouged her armor but didn't penetrate. Bobbi maneuvered herself to get her feet into the monster's rib-mouth-guts and shoved.
The Breakbeast flipped onto its back long enough for Bobbi to get to her feet and draw her sword. Susurrus lurked in the back of her awareness, assessing though not judging. Let him; the monster took precedence. She made one step towards it before it got back to its feet, a hissing, garbled roar torn from its warped throat.
"Left," Susurrus warned, calm but urgent enough to draw Bobbi's attention. A glance showed a second beast running in from that direction, but that glance took her eyes off the first too long. A snarl warned her. She gripped her sword in both hands and stepped forward to meet the monster's lunge, dragged the tip of her blade up through fur and gilded bone. Step to the side as the monster sailed by, barely more than nicked. The second barreled through where she'd stood; on instinct Bobbi kicked at it. Knocked off course, it slammed into the first monster, and a short scuffle distracted them as they worked to disentangle from each other.
Both creatures leapt at the same time. Following a silent direction from Susurrus, Bobbi stepped to one side and raised her sword, turned with the creature's leap to slice open its haunch. Without missing a beat, she turned to the second and brought the edge of her blade down on its neck. The severed head fell to the ground and disintegrated with the body as the living creature renewed its attack.
"Use this," Susurrus suggested. Metal slithered over Bobbi's hand to wind around the hilt and blade of her sword. She took Susurrus seriously, and lunged. Gold and steel bit into the beast's side and it let out an ear-piercing scream—and crumbled into dust and embers. Sensation swept along Bobbi's nerves, invigorating and almost pleasant.
"What—" Bobbi gasped. She shook her arm to rid it of the tingles left behind by whatever Susurrus did.
He hummed, satisfaction in the sound. "Just a little trick. How are you feeling?"
"Good," Bobbi said without hesitation. Then she hesitated. "That's weird."

day 12 i forgot to post lmao, more dteam roleswap :3
"You're sure he'll be there?" Dream questioned as he walked in step with his shorter friend. "Of course! George gave me the exact coordinates. He wouldn't lie to me." I hope, was left unsaid. A full week had passed since he and Sam were exiled from their own home, which also meant he hadn't seen or spoken to George in days. Truthfully, he had no idea if that was enough time for Bad to brainwash him into being loyal for the Badlands--and that terrified him.
"Are we close?" Dream's next question made Sapnap scramble to check their location and cross-reference it with what George had messaged him.
"We're here, actually, and it's almost midday. He should be here by now-" The pair abruptly jumped as a brunette stumbled out of some dense shrubbery. Leaves stuck out of his hair, berry juice staining his nice suit, and familiar goggles fell from his face.
"George!" They both exclaimed and hurried to get their friend to his feet. Before he could even get a word out, they squeezed him in a big group hug. Dream encompassed his best friends easily, standing nearly a foot taller than them both.
"You guys! I can't breathe!" George complained, despite how he laughed and clutched his friends just as tightly as they held him.
"Hug you harder, you said? If you insist!" Dream responded and promptly lifted the two in his arms, swinging them around and practically squeezing the life out of them. They all burst into giggles, carefree and just happy to be back together again. For that one moment, the thoughts of political strife and inner turmoil were gone. This wasn't a secret meeting between a secretary of state for the country that two rebels wanted to overthrow.
It was just them. Just three friends, like it had been when they were kids. When things were so, so much simpler.
Eventually, Dream set them back on their feet, grinning as they wobbled on dizzy knees. "You guys alright?" He chuckled as they tried to stabilize themselves using each other.
"I think George is having an asthma attack," Sapnap said between breathless laughter.
"Cuz I just almost got crushed to death! Gimme a minute!" George shot back, grinning around heaving gulps of air.
"You're so dramatic, Gogy." The blaze-born playfully punched his arm.
"And you're so annoying, Sappitus Nappitus." He mocked as he nudged his friend a little harder than he probably should've, resulting in a very typical-of-them shoving match.
"Hey, hey, you two! This is a serious, secret meeting, remember?" Dream stepped between them with hands to their chests to keep them apart. The mediator as always.
"Oh, right! Dream, I have something for you." George jolted before searching his pockets.
"Huh? What about me?" Sapnap whined.
"What about you?" The brunette raised a brow, producing an intricately decorated envelope and having it to Dream. "You weren't invited."
"Invited to what?"
"The festival in a few days. Bad's throwing a big party to celebrate winning the election. He's inviting everyone. Well," George cringed as he rubbed the back of his neck, "everyone except you and Sam."
"That's totally unfair!"
"You guys were exiled, dumbass."
"But I'm the life of the party! It'll be boring without me!"
"I'm sure we'll manage." George rolled his eyes.
"But, why me?" Dream piped up after tearing the envelope open and reading it over.
"Like I said, everyone is invited. I don't think it's for any specific reason."
"Are you gonna go?" Sapnap asked, barely concealing the worry in his tone. He just got his friend back. The last thing he wanted was to lose him in one of Bad's villainous plots.
"Not sure. Let's talk to Sam, see what he says."
Sapnap nodded, and a tense silence fell over the trio.
"I guess this is goodbye, then?"
"Only for a little longer. Once we take Dreamland back, we can be together again. All of us." The netherian affirmed, eyes blazing with determination. His friends returned the passionate look.
Only for Dream to ruin it with a laugh. "Still can't believe you guys named it Dreamland. I wasn't even there."
"With a name like that, we thought nobody would ever mess with us," Sapnap explained. "Especially not Techno."
Dream merely rolled his eyes with a fond grin.

Wait, I’m probably behind on this but is it true that Bart was kept out of the recent Flash family reunion because he was in Dark Crisis: Young Justice? Or is that just a late rumor that I just now heard?
Oh yeah, 100%.
Not a rumor. It's confirmed on Twitter by the writers and everything.
Jeremy Adams wanted to put Bart in the Dark Crisis Flash tie in and have him present for the family reunion. He couldn't, however, because Bart was in the Young Justice Dark Crisis storyline.
It's really unfortunate and incredibly upsetting to me personally because there wasn't a timing issue. YJ: DC starts before DC and wraps up as the main DC battle starts up. The Flash DC tie in story starts before YJ: DC starts (ie, Bart could have been present for the family reunion in road to dark crisis), it continues throughout the YJ:DC storyline (ie, couldn't have been present for the search for Barry) and it finishes a little bit after the main DC battle starts (ie, Bart could've been present for the final Flash tie in issue, the Flash family reunion at the end, and the Flash family reunion fighting shot with Barry as YJ:DC had already concluded)
So, yeah, it's frustrating to me that the Flash writer was withheld from using a Flash character for an entire event, even though that character reasonably could've been in a significant portion of the content without consistency issues.

i’ve been trying to think of ways to keep up my spanish since i moved and don’t know as many people to speak it with here; i saw you’re reading out loud in french every day how’s that going? would you recommend it to maintain fluency? :)
it's going well! it's great for maintaining vocab for sure, especially if you read recent stuff (as opposed to novels from the 1800s lol). and it's been helping a ton with my pronunciation; actually speaking the words helps with your own articulation as well as your oral comprehension to a lesser extent. i think it's a pretty good option in the absence of conversational partners, and it's really not necessary to spend a ton of time on it per day, especially if you're already fluent. you could read a chapter a day (or 10 pages, or 5 pages, or whatever) just to keep your hand in. worth a try if you have some spanish-language books available!
