[ID: Laszlo and Guillermo sitting on a couch facing each other. Guillermo has his chin propped up on one hand, glaring at nothing as a tear falls from his eye. He sighs angrily and mumbles, “Boys…” Laszlo, holding Guillermo’s other hand and painting the nails black, nods in solidarity and replies, “I hear that.” /end ID]
I drew this like 5 days ago, I knew I would need it!!

Some of my rambling thoughts about tonight’s WWDITS episode - the much-anticipated S4E9: Freddie.
First thing’s first: I appreciate that they did something that none of us expected or predicted by instead of having Nandor be jealous of Freddie, he started crushing on Freddie. Honestly, I really love that Nandor has been shown to be so openly queer this season, more so than has ever been shown before in the series. And I definitely think it’s being done for a reason. I also think that there is a reason Nandor specifically latched into Freddie as well, but we’ll get to that later.
Before that, I wanted to discuss something that has really bothered me this season and came to a head this episode. It’s bad enough that Marwa had pretty much lost all of her agency and was basically brainwashed into marrying Nandor due to his wishes (which imo makes their relationship as a whole not super consensual). Now, Marwa, one of the few female characters and the only POC female character, has now (presumably) been permanently turned into an exact copy of a white british man. She has completely lost all agency, and is no longer herself. Literally.
I really loved Marwa’s character and her actress. I wanted to see more of her in the show. And as Nandor steadily removed more and more of what made her the true Marwa, myself and several others have commented on how disappointed we have been with this plotline. I know a lot of us were hoping that Marwa would be returned to her original self and would get to leave and just be her own person. But I guess Nandor would have to wish for that, and it’s episodes like these where it seems he is incapable of being anything but selfish.
However - returning to the Nandor and Guillermo discussion - I do appreciate that Guillermo stood up for himself and told Nandor to his face that what he was doing was wrong and hurtful, and I saw that during that scene you could see how taken aback Nandor was. Harvey did such a great job with his acting in this scene - it made me feel for him so much, and it’s clear the scene was intended to be extremely serious despite the comical situation. It’s been shown time and time again that Nandor does, deep down, genuinely care for Guillermo, even as early as season 1. And this season especially has gone to great lengths to show us how much Nandor values Guillermo as a person and friend.
Which brings me back to the reason Nandor immediately latched onto Freddie. Just like Guillermo said - Nandor has everything he “wants.” And yet, at the end of the day, he went and chose to turn his already extremely wish-altered “perfect” wife into an exact copy of Guillermo’s boyfriend.
My theory is this, and I’m sure many Nandermo shippers think the same: Nandor is so afraid of getting too close to Guillermo. Why? My guess is he’s afraid that things will go awry and he’ll lose Guillermo forever. But, at the same time, he (as evidenced through Marwa’s words) doesn’t know what he’d do without him. He set up this big elaborate wedding, which he was clearly trying to self-sabotage, just to keep Guillermo around. However, his feelings for Guillermo appear to be so repressed that he can’t even bring himself to hug him. So what does he do? He can’t have Guillermo? How about his boyfriend. There has to be something going on subconsciously there with Nandor.
With the way things went for Guillermo in this episode, I think that they are setting up him leaving the vamps in the finale next week. I felt for him so much this episode and I love that they didn’t trivialize his misfortune this time like they’ve done in the past. He is genuinely hurt and heartbroken. And it’s all Nandor’s fault. What reason does he have to stay?
Guess we’ll find out next week.

tbh I am VERY sad for Marwa not getting to be free and for Freddie's for having to live hypnotized and for Guillermo for losing the only thing making him happy BUT !!! It's not the first time something like this happened so it wasn't out of character at all, not for the show, not for the characters. If anything, it further solidifies that they're all dumb and selfish beyond measure

alt season 4 timeline: teary eyed guillermo bursts into nandor's room after traveling back from england to surprise freddie
after yelling at him about his now ex boyfriend cheating on him with himself one thing leads to another and gullermo ends up passionately making out and fucking nandor
however still incredibly pissed about the whole thing he either pulls out his phone mid fucking nandor (dealer's choice if on top or power bottoming) and basically takes a video to "accidentally" send to freddie or "accidentally" calls him on speaker so that he can loudly hear them fucking (it all boils down to guillermo in the haze of lust getting freddie to in one way shape or form witness them fucking as a "LOOK AT WHAT YOU'RE MISSING BITCH" kinda move)

I stopped watching around season 3. what happened?
In season 4 nandor is on this journey to "find love" and does so by discovering a djinn lamp he owns and using his many wishes to- in short- resurrect one of his 37 wives to marry.
He actually resurrects all of them but picks marwa, a quiet but sweet and intelligent woman to be his bride. It's been clear from the Start that nandors attraction/desire to be married is very superficial, using his wishes to change aspects about marwa's personality up to the wedding day.
Almost immediately after they get married nandor is already bored with the marwa who's personality he sandpapered. While all that has been happening a smaller plotline has been going on revealing that guillermo found himself a boyfriend while he was in London (Idk if you got to the season finale but he was in London for a while) who's finally coming to visit! His name is Freddie, he's a white British man.
When nandor sees Freddie he immediately wants him for himself but oh no! A plot hole! He's married to marwa and he can't cheat on her! (They even make a joke that's like 'I never once cheated on my 37 wives. Why he suddenly can't add Freddie to his collection of wives is not addressed.)
So. He uses one of his last wishes (maybe actual last I can't remember) to turn marwa into Freddie. No cloning no alternative just. Change her into Freddie. No more marwa. Yada Yada Yada guillermo finds out some bullshit happens and then nandor fucking releases his freddie/marwa clone into the wild where he ends up in a selfcest relationship with real Freddie. We get no closure for marwa.
So yeah. Taking one of the few female characters with a prominent role at all but especially a character of color, stripping her of all her personality little by little until she's essentially a walking mannequin, and then turning her into a white man only to be unceremoniously tossed out by the end of the episode with no resolution.
Now this was a guest-written episode (and it shows there's so much off with the characterization in that ep) but they still approved, filmed, and released it.
But no yeah nandor and guillermo kissing is like totally problematic slash s

I think what Guillermo needs to realize is that he’s never going to be able to live a normal life as long as he’s involved with the vampires
As long as he stays in-contact with them and tries to bring his personal life into his work life he’s more than likely gonna get fucked over in some way

Guillermo tells us how to feel.
Like, consistently. He is the closest thing we have to an audience surrogate and HE tells us what our baseline expectations should be based on his reaction to the world. Luring virgins to a house of vampires to be murdered? All in a day's work! Chopping them up into bits and burying them in the backyard? Gross, but necessary! Re-deading your ex-wives in a Bachelor parody? Morally questionable but I'm not gonna stop you. Hypnotizing a man so many times his brain explodes and he dies? Sounds sad but can't talk, I'm embezzling and committing fraud atm. WWDITS is close to being an anti-comedy like IASIP or Seinfeld because the main characters are all awful people who commit terrible atrocities, but we DO care about them and their happiness because we are given that baseline to work from and know what to take seriously and what to laugh at.
The reason s4e9 felt so cruel was because Guillermo responded to it that way. Because HE was hurt and HE was upset and the last shot of the episode was his heart breaking on screen!! We are SUPPOSED to feel how he feels!! All season things have been getting better for him; he has been more appreciated and respected and has taken more control of his life and now the rug is pulled out from under him again. He/we are left wondering: Guillermo, what now? Is all this still worth it? Is it time for you to leave?
The vampires, as a rule, NO NOT CARE ABOUT HUMANS. They're livestock and free labor and occasional entertainment, and that's the way it's always been. (We haven't even talked about the fact that Nadja killed Sofia Coppola 😂😂😂) Vamps are too long-lived and jaded and used to killing to live for it to be any other way. Humans are playthings!! Unfortunately, that includes Nandor's wives. It includes Marwa, it includes Guillermo's family, and it includes Freddie. But it's starting to NOT include Guillermo.
Like Nandor, we are supposed to FEEL THE GAME ENDING. He was having fun, making a new human to play with because he was bored of his old one and getting to spend time with his best…man and literally could not compute that any of this would be upsetting to Guillermo. Because why would it? They're only toys, they can always get more. (Here, Guillermo is already held separate and above other humans)
But Guillermo was upset! He was angry! He didn't think it was fun, he didn't think it was a game, and this human was IMPORTANT to him and we see Nandor falter, stumble over his words, get quiet and soft and ashamed. The comedy is over and he stops having fun. And he does his best (best is debatable but he is very stupid) to fix it!!
Idk if these events will be specifically addressed next ep because we have important Colin things to do and there had to have been a decent time skip between Freddie leaving and Memo going to London, but I want to point out that THIS IS THE DARKEST HOUR MOMENT. Nadja is losing her club, Laszlo is losing his boy, Colin is losing his youth, Nandor lost his wife/boytoy and Guillermo's trust, and Guillermo lost his boyfriend and got his heart broken for the upteenth time. Things SUCK FOR EVERYONE right now - and that's the point!! Ep 9 of season 3 ended with Colin Robinson DYING. Next ep, things will start to look up. Right before something insane happens that makes everything SIGNIFICANTLY worse and leaves us on a year-long cliffhanger! 😃 And I for one am excited to see it lmao

(Also Marwa sidenote bc look how they massacred my girl:
I will miss Marwa and I'm sad about her (I know not everyone was fond of her like I was lol but idk if the writers expected anyone to feel a way about her regardless), and I'm left thinking "is this even Marwa?" If she has none of her own memories or body or personality left, can we even consider it her? Does Marwa no longer exist? May be the best outcome for her mental state if she now exists only in 1300s Al Qolindar again lol. But if the wishes get reversed or something else happens to return her to Marwadom I'm hopeful she will pull a Derek and return one day!! Wwdits is well known for bringing back one-off characters, and Marwa was a season regular in like 7/10 episodes so I'm not giving up on her yet... My fanart will continue.)

Okay, I know y'all are mad at wwdits for this episode but like,,, not everything can be perfect?? Literally where is the joy in watching a TV show or reading a book where everything is sunshine and rainbows and everyone is good and nice? There is beauty in morally corrupt characters, in selfish characters, ignorant, annoying, scared, lonely, evil, mad characters, in characters who act only for themselves. Because we get to look at them and think "Oh that's not good, but I know this character and have been with them on their entire journey, and I have an insight in their mental and emotional state so I can understand them and who they are. Despite that, I can still judge for myself that what they are doing is inexcusable even if they are a character I enjoy and know well" and that translates to real life as well, and it should translate to real life. People you love won't always do good things, they won't always be perfect but you need to learn to in one hand understand them, and to critically think about them on the other. We get to see characters we like and dislike, we get to be emotionally involved, we get to think about and judge it. There's many more layers to an imperfect story (the world and characters in the story I mean) than there is to a perfect one.

Could nandermo ever go canon? What's the probability? Cus I think the show runners are being weird about it
I honestly do think it will become canon eventually, just maybe not in the way a lot of people want/expect. The wwdits writers are well-known for throwing curveballs at us when we think we know what’s going to happen (i.e. S4E9 “Freddie”, where we all thought Nandor would be jealous of Freddie instead of becoming infatuated with him).
The writers have definitely been building up the romantic tension between Nandermo as the seasons progress though, and I think the fact that in the two most recent seasons they’ve gone out of their way to show the audience that - yes, all of the vampires are canonically queer as fuck, and yes, Guillermo is canonically gay - is telling. It’s meant to indicate to the audience that a romantic pairing between Nandor and Guillermo is 100% a thing that could happen.
Additionally, it’s been shown multiple times that no matter how hard Nandor tries, he can’t find a companion or love interest who truly makes him happy like Guillermo does. And despite the shit Nandor and the other vamps put him through, Guillermo is so down bad for his master that he comes back to be his familiar every time anyway, even when he’s been established to be a better fighter and way more competent than Nandor. Heck, he’s already at least partly a vampire now - why would he need to stick around? And he used to be a bodyguard, so why has he simply reverted back to doting on Nandor?
I also think fan feedback on the ship has been pretty overwhelmingly positive and has only grown since Guillermo was first implied to have feelings for Nandor in season 3. There have been recent articles acknowledging the “will they, won’t they” of their relationship too, and I’ve definitely seen more charged chemistry in the Nandermo scenes in season 5 with the way Harvey and Kayvan are playing the characters.
So while yes, I think that Nandermo will eventually become canon, I’m still not certain it will happen this season (I remember thinking it might happen in s3 or s4 and was disappointed lol). They may drag this out til the end of the show… Or maybe at the end of this season, they’ll pull a “they finally kiss but there are misunderstandings that keep them from being together” - like Nandor finding out that Guillermo went to Derek to turn him and feeling betrayed. I would honestly not be mad if they went that route because then at least there would be confirmation that this is a ship that is being taken seriously by the writers and not just something they tease.
