Upon looking it up I've found that this happens when there's a surge of "traffic activity"

I have no idea what that means lmao.

My notifications have been a little weird where it takes like a hot second to even come up. Like I had absolutely nothing but then suddenly I had like 13 notifs and when I went to check, 3 people had liked a post and that was it. Idk what the 10 others were still??

Tumblr is so broken. But apparently it's getting a surge of new users and for as long as I've been here, which has pretty much been since 2012/2013, that means Tumblr is gonna get buggy a little.
