i keep reading about how great latuda is and how it has helped a lot of people with their bipolar treatment and it’s making feel awful cause i haven’t been able to fill my prescription either do to my doctor’s miscommunication or financial issues. i just want to get better :/

Animorphs Book 1 (the invasion)

Reading as a child, I remember thinking about how cool it was to have the ability to Acquire™ (and I still think its such an amazing ability and I still want it tbh) and I remember being so transfixed and hooked on the series right from the get go.

Reading as an adult, I can still feel myself get hooked, but I can look at it and feel shocked and terrified for the thrust of responsibility onto literal children for knowing an overwhelming threat was on their planet and they were the only ones with any power to stop it... And then getting to see them be afraid, then have moments of feeling invincible just for that feeling to shatter mere moments later. Its just wow!

Another consistent feeling though, I still remain happy for the ending that Tobias got (in this book specifically, I don't know the ultimate ending of any of the Animorphs), but he was so sad and feeling trapped and now he's free and he's still tentative about expressing that freedom to the others because they won't necessarily see it that way...

Onward to book 2!! (unsure if I'll do a post of my thoughts for every one of the books, but the very beginning of their story must be mentioned! After all, how else would those who come after know what they've done and who they are 😉)

The alexandrite variety displays a color change dependent upon the nature of ambient lighting. Which means it goes from purple-pinkish to greenish-blue.

i need to talk about c!eret soso bad i’ve been constantly thinking about yesterdays lore stream.

okay so eret has established memory loss, but it seems to either be getting worse or she is hallucinating and cannot tell real from fake. i think both are interesting but i’m looking at the latter and thinking about how much time she spent in isolation working on her projects. her museum, her stronghold, her castle. she has spent irl months alone working on these projects endlessly. worse yet, she is still consumed by grief and guilt about not only the fcr, but also foolish/red banquet and how even though she’s free from dream she still seems to be powerless when it matters. dream also i think is a huge factor in her deteriorating mental health as he was extremely manipulative towards her during kingship and never even treated her as an actual person. she has so much going on mentally that seeing wilbur revived probably made her crack. she has been trying so hard, FOR YEARS, to atone for her sins and to make things right but her past has always been thrown back in her face. she is rapidly deteriorating and with the trajectory she’s on i fear she’s going to lose a canon life soon. i’m also sure she is experiencing more extreme memory loss, but i believe it’s caused by her deteriorating mental health and general instability at the moment.

Forever laughing about how sherrif Galpin called Wednesday Velma because I wish that was the show we got. I would have LOVED to see "scooby doo but with wednesday, enid, thing, xav and tyler" but instead we had to suffer through the boring ass, confusing boy drama. - I dont even hate the romance notion tbh like Tylers fine I just thought he was a boring match for her. Until ykno, the obvious.

The parts where we get to run around solving mysteries are so fun and campy and I know a lot of ppl found gomez and morticias ep a bit cringey but... it was fine?? I loved every second of them going to the gates mansion I pray for more of that s2.

Animorphs Book 2- The Visitor

I have no shame admitting that I finished reading this one less than 2 hours after I finished the first. It's actually been so long since I sat down with a book, let alone feel the rush of being in the story with the character and having the words just blur by as the story unfolded, so it was greatttt! I knew I would get hooked quickly again, but hooked is an understatement!

From the title, "The Visitor" I actually thought it would have gone an entirely different direction and that we'd get to meet my favourite Andalite. But instead-

This one had so many emotions tumbling about in a flurry and it was so adrenaline- and fear- fueled towards the end (but really so much of this story involved Rachel feeling afraid and having to tackle those thoughts and feelings). Rachel is such a brave girl but she's also so reckless with it that I know she's gonna have more trouble with that in the books to come. She was also so compassionate too and it's amazing how K.A.Applegate managed to so quickly give all of her characters such depth and development by showing us their character instead of telling the reader about the characters.

32. do they seek control, or do they want less of it?

AHAHAHAH I don't think jairix could stand a loss of control - not now, not when she's holding on so tight to every bit of it she has left. I think she's desperate for it and it's killing her. Every possible circumstance, every possible enemy is rearing its head over Abseir, and Jairix knows only too well that a lack of control does not mean the responsibility weighs any less heavy.

64. do they value mercy or justice more?

to be frank, I don't think that she cares. jairix wants the things she has claimed as her own - her homeland, her city, her scattered party - to survive. she values mercy when it is extended to Abseir. She values justice when it protects Starfall. Although, perhaps, she leans more heavily on the side of justice now. Mercy leaves too much room for consequences later. (perhaps she looks at the decisions she makes every day and the compromises she's made and cannot bring herself to ask for mercy. perhaps she's locked it inside her so deep that her mouth no longer knows how to form the words.)

68. what was the best moment of their life?

I'll pick two. One during the campaign and one before, because nothing that happened during the campaign was unequivocally happy - there was always some greater cloud hanging over it. But I think sitting with Nan'Uov, looking up at the stars of the Orclands, was the closest thing to content she's been in a long time.

But the best moment of Jairix's life may have been arriving in Abseir for the first time, a little 10-year-old lizard fleeing the only home she'd ever known, and arriving at a miraculous city, still half-built and growing by the day, filled with all sorts of different kinds of people and with strange flying contraptions (airships, although how would she know it, they were some of the first) dotting the sky. Of course she fell in love at once. Of course she begged her parents, even after the war was over, to stay, so she could live in this wonderful place and learn its magic. Of course she ended up here, in the very center of its interconnected parts, giving everything she has and everything she is to the city that she adores.
