I have the same concerns that many do about moving away from the current mass pinging system. But I really honestly, truly, need most of you to calm down and wait. I do not think that staff completely ignored how pinglists are currently used. They launched a new feature, explicitly said multiple times that they are not getting rid of the current system and will tell us well in advance when they plan to, so they can make adjustments to ensure it works for the community.

Yes. Everyone's concerns over not being able to use something like GASP is an extremely valid concern that I agree needs to be addressed. Staff have acknowledged multiple times on the announcement that they are aware that this impacts a vast majority of players.

Many people acknowledge that something like GASP is so complex, it would be impossible for staff to fully accommodate that. Maybe that's true, maybe that's not.

But you guys really need to give them TIME to figure out a solution, present us a solution, and for us to be able to give feedback on their proposed solution.

I think a lot of people have this impulse to immediately assume that staff made a change with the intent to make players unhappy. Xhal has made a few really great posts on the announcement thread explaining their core focuses when developing something like this and I would encourage people to read what he's saying.

honestly?? my biggest advice is probably to limit how much time you spend on there. drama tends to show up out of nowhere and spread fast at times, so it’s good to know when to dip for ur own mental health tbh. other than that, try and find people around your own age who seem like they have the type of energy you want on your tl. then just have fun and don’t be weird really

You don't really think DC ever meant for the issue to sound like Jason was into guys, do you? I think they saw it as a callback and approved it, then panicked when they saw the online reaction and are gonna do everything they can to make sure everyone forgets that page

Oh I’d say I’m about 97.8293% positive that it was meant as a shallow, cutesy callback and nothing more. AND that they’re walking it back as hard as they dare.

But that’s a massive failure of reading comprehension for a lot of people whose jobs are reading/writing. 

There is literally no other way to read it. Effective callbacks aren’t just about the words, they’re about the context. That’s why you get so many renditions of characters holding dead loved ones the way Bruce holds Jason’s body in that iconic panel from Batman #428. The visual similarities are the artist’s version of words, but the context around the original is what gives any meaning to the homage. 

So yeah. I don’t think the really meant anything by it. But I think walking it back is a huge mistake. That little callback is the only interesting thing that’s happened on this book in... years. You guys realize... Rebirth was 2016. This book took a quality dive after Roman and every time it manages to claw out something even remotely intriguing it’s never delivered on.
