I don't really have a lot on Mist although I'm content with his design, and Storm is my special bby. I got way too attached to him (Totally not my bias to Fell characters). Storm surely has a lot more info, personality, and lore written despite being a character I did for the funsies of 'what if's.

There's also Xine (Xtale) and Momo (Underlust).

I do consider them 'AU versions' of Rain, but to be fair except for Mist, they're all 'done' under different circumstances and could easily be their own characters- Not that it matters a lot though /Wheeze

so, if you’re someone who started reading confectionery (that one ice cream!au subscorp fic) nearly four years ago and have been wondering what the hell is going on with it since, this post is for you.

(also, if you haven’t heard, there’s a new chapter! read it here ♡)

i should begin by apologizing. i wish i was more forward about my feelings on the work and why i stopped working on it, and i regret not doing so. i also feel like i should explain myself a bit.

i began writing confectionery after being inspired by a parody video (I WANTED ICE CREAM) and trading ideas with my best friend during the summer of 2015.

that summer, i was in a weird spot mentally; i had just finished my first year at a university i hated, where i spent most of my time between classes crying my eyes out due to the stress of being unable to afford the tuition, as well as just not being ready for that transition in my life yet. i decided to transfer to a school in my hometown that was much cheaper and allowed me to stay home for that following fall.

however, i still struggled to find work, so i had two and a half months of seemingly endless free time, which allowed me to write plenty during that break. i had managed to finish and publish chapter six right before the next semester began, and i knew after my first day of class that i wouldn’t be able to continue writing, but i pretended that i could force myself to. i started chapter seven and then promptly gave up when i couldn’t write more than three sentences before wanting to give up and try again tomorrow.

the thing with fanart and fanfiction is that it’s purely meant for pleasure; fanartists can make a (legal) profit from their work, but fanfic writers cannot, and so the only thing driving me was the creative need to make something. but starting school again and having to figure out what the hell transfer students were supposed to do (my university did little to help me or other transfers with this kind of transition) drained me significantly.

my interest in mk waned around the same time, and i knew that forcing myself to write something i wasn’t feeling passionate about would hurt the quality of the work, which i simply could not allow myself to do; i take way too much pride in my writing ability and skills to post something i’m not satisfied with. i also felt that it would be unfair to the piece itself and to everyone who was actively reading it.

i didn’t want to orphan it, though, and instead put it on hiatus because i knew i definitely wanted to start working on it again at some point, but also realized that i likely wouldn’t want to return to it until the next mk title rolled around (which is exactly what’s happened lmao).

however, i also received some very frustrating and entitled comments in 2016 that lead me to resent confectionery and as such, made me want nothing to do with it; i ended up publishing four unrelated fics during that year (after marathoning simon pegg films and becoming INCREDIBLY hyperfixated on star trek because of it), which is where all my creative energy went.

anyone who’s looked at my work history will find that i haven’t published anything since then, though. my depression is a constant thing i’m dealing with, and it hit me hard at the time. i also found a job (fucking finally) in may 2017, which shortened my free time between work and school. i tried to write, but never finished anything. i think i have three or four projects i’ve started since then, but couldn’t force myself to complete. i poured most of my personal time into playing overwatch instead.

so, writing’s been hard for me lately. i put a lot of creative time into sfm and not much else, but eventually burnt myself out on that, too. i’ve also barely made any gifs or edits in the past few years. capitalism has a way of draining you of any and all creativity lmao.

but, now that i’ve graduated with my bachelor’s and found a new job where i’m actually utilizing my knowledge instead of making pizzas under a manager who couldn’t give less a shit about me or my efforts, i’m feeling much more satisfied with the direction my life is going and also have a lot more time to do things for myself.

i recently replayed the story to mkx to give myself a refresher of the plot so far (i referenced this in a recent comment on confectionery, for you eagle-eyed readers) and also got to do a few towers during the mk11 beta a couple weeks ago. since then, i’ve been fleshing out the plot line to confectionery and finally wrote the next chapter (one that i was super excited to write before my interest wilted and died rip).

so, if you’re reading this, that means i also finally published it!! we did it kids!!! we’re back on the mortal kombat ice cream train!!!!

if you’ve made it down here, thank you so much for reading this whole thing. my intent isn’t to make excuses but to simply explain myself for the very long hiatus. your patience and support means the absolute world to me. i hope you enjoyed the recent update, and that you’ll stick around for the next one! ♡

DBZ zine

I’ve been trying to get the resources/help together to try and run a small-scale zine or set of small zines for DBZ fanartists. This project idea started after a zine on twitter that large number of dbz fanartists, including myself, were trying to participate in collapsed due to poor communication/poor management.

Due to this, I wanted to create a zine that was a little more structured and open to smaller artists than the ones I’m finding, but I decided to ask for some help.

As I’m the only person who’s trying to create this project right now, I don’t have a good idea of what other people in this community would want.

I have a discord server set up for this project, so if you have ideas for how the zine could be run or what you would want to see incorporated, send me a dm or reply, and I’ll send you an invite.

Im listing my goals here in case you guys want to read them or want an idea of what I’m trying to do.

1. To produce a zine that’s more accessible to smaller artists. The problem that I’ve had with zines previously is that they feel very exclusive to artists that have a lot of visibility in the DBZ community already. I’d like these zines to function kind of as a fanart collective rather than a themed booklet like I’ve been seeing as of late, and possibly a sort of archive for the future.

2. Maintain better communication with participants and use more effective management (?). I’m not sure if management is the correct term for running a zine, but whatever it is, along with communication it’s one of the more important parts of the process, and was where the zine mentioned before fell through.

After these goals, I have a couple long-term goals, including:

3. Making a series of zines, either as general collectives of fanart for a month/year/any period of time, or a series of themed zines, like for each season of the year or seasonal holidays. This isn’t super long-term, as we would know pretty quickly whether or not it can be done imo, but I‘m not sure it’s sustainable at this time, so I’m including it here.

4. Creating more exclusive/large scale zines in addition to the smaller ones. If we can start a consistent series of easy to access zines, I would like to add other zines with higher production quality that could be added to participating artist’s patreons or more exclusive prompts/subject matter, like an adult art zine.

While doing this would create the same or similar issues to the ones that I am trying to avoid by running the smaller zines, it would only be an addition to the smaller zines and only be started if/when a series of small zines is established.

✨ What is Damaged tale?

Damaged tale is an Alternate Timeline of Undertale that takes place in a frozen post-genocide timeline where only Rain remains.

I shorten this to DTAT! (Damaged Tale Alternate Timeline)

✨ Who is Rain?

Rain is an outcode, a glitch that happened after some events in his world. He is an amalgamation of Papyrus, Sans, and Frisk mainly.

You can read his reference sheet for more information.

✨ How old is Rain?

Being an amalgamate, I cannot really figure out an ‘age’ for him, because I could give him many kinds of age: Existentially, mentally, physically, etc.

But he is an adult, not a child. His physical form is a mix of Sans and Papyrus’, and mentally he can recall everyone’s memories and experiences.

✨ What are his abilities?

I will link this post related to him fighting + extra info

Rain is naturally a hacker and a glitch given the circumstances he was created in. Just with these things, he is able to read codes, modify them, and learn from them too, although he can be very clumsy.

He can travel to different AUs, but this doesn’t usually work as expected.

He can use bone attacks as a normal thing, and blue / orange attacks, but they come with some errors in functioning.

He wants to specifically learn how to take advantage of glitches to revert things to their default / previous form, this way he could do some good with it. (Thinking of it like a healer, for example)

Because Rain is also an amalgamate, it is difficult to damage his physical form or determine his stats, and he cannot ‘die’ both because of this and because of his Determination. He is not completely immortal, though.

✨ How was Rain created?

But in a rough summary, Rain is the result of an accident that happened in a post-genocide route, that involved Frisk, Papyrus, and Sans.

✨ Is he a Sans? / Why does he looks like a Sans?

I’d like to say yesn’t to this, but also Rain is not a Sans. Sans is only part of his amalgamation. And because Sans was the only person who ‘existed’ completely during the accident, his code ended up recalling his form mainly.

He does! There is Storm (Flowerfell), Momo (Underlust), Xine (Xtale but shitposting), Mist (Underswap), and a Human version.

I’ll cry. Yeah, but seriously. I would be more than glad to see it! I do not mind people @me at all to see, even though Tumblr sometimes do not help to see the mentions.

✨ Can i ship your character(s) with another character(s)?

For fun, I do not really mind. I myself like ships and messing around with them, but I am picky about who to ship myself when it comes to Rain, so it’s a maybe.

I would say no to that. Because I don’t want people misunderstanding my character. Sometimes I even think he could be too complex for me, so...

His ‘family’ are basically his two big brothers: Insans (Tatatale), and Sappy (Sukk0).

At the Qinghai province near the Goldmud airport, Zara sat in front of a small limousine watching a few cars driving on the road up towards the airport at the end of it. Inside the car, the goon leader sat on the driver seat on the phone talking to someone. The man placed his phone away, then he opened the door of the vehicle getting out of it and walked to the redhead.

“They’ll be here in two minutes. They passed with the van without any problem” The man mentioned.

“Have you already located the boy?” Zara questioned making the man shake his head.

“Nope, but I will” The man answered earning a nod from the woman, then he took out his smartphone again to locate the boy. “Do you think they won’t find the smartphone?”

“I made sure, that it would be hidden enough under the urn the boy was carrying. I don’t think he’s going to find it so soon”

“Good. I don’t think he’s going to take the urn out until he’s up at the Himalayas”

“Exactly. Even if they would find it, we have another group landing in Kathmandu the next hours and they’ll be closer to the destination and would encounter them, if the boy and Dave are going the right way….Honestly, what are they thinking about going up to the Himalayas to scatter Burnish’s ashes? This is just ridiculous”

“It might have been, what the testament of Burnish could have said. You know he was so fascinated with the mount Everest, that he might have chosen to have his ashes scattered there when he wrote his last will”

“Most likely. But one thing is for sure” Zara said turning around to the partner. “If we catch Dave and the boy before the mountains, we threat the kid with Dave’s death and the only way to free him would be him going up to the mountain to lure the yeti to him and when we see him, we all aim him with tranquilizer darts to take him down and it’s over. The scientists keep their yeti, we get our money and the two….well they’re useless they can stay alive, it doesn’t matter. Who’s going to believe what happened anyway? No one believed Burnish years ago when he saw the yeti for the first time” “Sounds plausible” The former security leader of the Burnish industries agreed. “Mostly since the other two teens are away” The man mentioned making Zara snicker shortly.

“If they actually would show up, I would have a bigger threat for the boy to go up to the mountains for us”

“This really seems to be easy Zara” The man concurred earning a confident smile of the woman.

“I told you it wouldn’t be harder, than it was back then” Zara mentioned, then watched a white van approach with the symbol of the Hongkonger flag and the symbol of the scientific labor, which consisted of a chemical flask with a dropper over it dropping a black-colored liquid in it. Zara smiled and waved her arm at the conductor, which was a raven-haired woman, which moved the vehicle aside from the road to park vice versa to the former criminal pack.

“Shouldn’t we discuss the plan somewhere else?” The driver asked earning a nod from the redhead.

“Yes and there’s an industrial zone back there. The workers are all busy in the factory, we can park on the outside and discuss it in the van or on the outside without any problem” Zara affirmed earning a thumb up from the woman, which put the blinker of the van on to enter back into the road, then Zara entered along with the man into the black car and made a U-turn to follow the van out of the airport area.

In the afternoon Jin, Yi and Kai were traveling on the train for a few hours. Although it’s frustrating for the two to feel well on the long ride, they tried to motivate each other to suffer less on the ride from boredom.

“Okay I know this comes now out of the blue, but FantasyWorks secretly made the past years hilarious and weird scenes in their movies, so that fans could use it to make memes. This why they also nickname the studio Memeworks” Jin asserted while the friend listened to his story.

“Dolan is a great movie studio and that for many generations, but I don’t know, I could identify myself better with some of the girls from the FantasyWork movies,” Yi mentioned glancing at the tall boy.

“Most of the girls there seem to be tomboys just like you”

“Yes…..I could never become like all the other girls at the school. You know wear makeup, dresses, skirts. I just can’t do that. It’s just not my thing Jin”

“You’re you. And you’re just great the way you are”

“I know, thanks” Yi responded. “But have you ever wondered, why I’m actually like that?” The girl questioned making Jin shrug his shoulders.

“I never really cared if you were more like the girls or not. At least, when I was younger and we were always hanging out together…..hey probably one of the reasons you’re more of a tomboy is because you were always hanging out with me and Peng most of the times.” Jin mentioned. “We were always doing boys stuff like playing basketball”

“Eventually?” I don’t remember beside I used to wear many t-shirts or shorts, when I went out. I never had the interest to wear any skirts or dresses. Not even today”

“Well, you never needed to wear a dress to look amazing. Like…...any other girl just wears them, cause its a girl thing and all,”

“You don’t sound like you’ve got a good knowledge about girls, Jin” Yi mentioned with a chuckle making Jin roll his eyes.
