Nancy and Robin sulking in the corner at the New Year's party when Argyle walks up to them.

"Why are you dude so sad? It's a party."

Robin sighs. "Nancy and I wanted to kiss at midnight but we can't because no one knows we're dating."

An idea pops into Argyle's mind. "I got you dudes."

He walks away from them before they get a say and goes straight to Steve. "Hey, dude. We're trying to figure out who to kiss at midnight. Eddie said he would kiss you."

"Wait, why?" Steve asks a little confused.

"Robin's going to kiss Nancy because she's a lesbian. And you can't kiss Jonathan because of the history."

Steve makes a face of realization. "Oh true. Ok."

"Cool." Argyle walks over to Eddie. "Steve's going to kiss you at midnight."

Eddie snorts. "If he wanted to he could have just asked." He walks away and finds Steve.

Argyle smiles to himself and walks over to Jonathan last. "Dude, we're going to kiss at midnight."

"We're going to?"

"Yeah," Argyle nods. "Robin and Nancy are kissing for obvious reasons and you can't kiss Steve because of the history. So you would you rather kiss, me or Eddie."

Jonathan shrugs, "Fair point."

The countdown starts and each of the couples pair up. Happy New Year is screamed before the couples kiss each other into the new year. The ones Argyle crafted had just a small kiss, Robin and Nancy being much more into it. He glances over quickly to not put any attention on them, but they're smiling wide.

i love a/b/o steddie where they get started like so young that if it was someone i knew irl i'd have a panic attack. like,, mated right out of high school, baby pops out a year later, they've got like five kids by the time they're 25

thinking about an au where they were already together pre- start of s4 and steve goes through the whole thing like three months pregnant. like he's stressed about the baby and eddie and eddie's SUPER stressed about the baby and steve, like eddie's trying to get steve to sit this one out for the baby and steve has to yell at him to stop bc yeah, he's worried about losing their first child, but if he sat at home while everyone else dealt with the upside down and someone didn't come back??? he'd never be able to live with himself

and when the bats get eddie and steve tries to use the mating bond to share some of eddie's pain, help him hold on until they get to the hospital, eddie weakly tries to tell him not to, to think of the baby. and steve's just. not having it. and once eddie wakes up from his medically induced coma he's like :(( why'd you do that and steve is just. so mad. he says yeah, if i had lost the baby (he doesn't, she's fine) that would have been the most terrible pain i'd ever felt. but it would have been worse if i lost you. and eddie's like. oh. bc maybe part of him has always been thinking that steve's only stuck with him bc he's the father of their kid. but no, steve loves him.

so eddie's crying, and steve's crying, and then steve shows eddie the ultrasound they did during eddie's coma to check the baby hadn't been hurt by the week of stress and danger and pain-sharing, and it's the first time they've been able to actually see the shape of a baby in all the weird white noise of an ultrasound, and now they're both crying even harder

me trying to restrain myself from joining a randomass conversation i accidentally started eavesdropping on when they start talking about something i like and they start misinterpreting its characters and their character development and relationships and all that with that typical excited and nerdy facial expression of mine that ive noticed i get whenever someone talks about my favorite things and i get to explain them to people (im socially awkward but not when it comes to this ok)

kind of obsessed with the idea of steddie getting into a fight about something small and meaningless but in the moment it seems huge. and steve calls up robin and is like hey wanna go out tonight? and he gets all dressed up and ✨bejeweled✨ (yes i did listen to the t swift song while thinking of this) bc he wants eddie to get a tiny bit jealous about all the looks he‘s getting.

and he knows that eddie and nancy are also going out that night, and there‘s not a lot of clubs that they all enjoy so they‘ll probably run into each other sooner or later. but then they‘re out and about and suddenly steve doesn‘t even really feel like making him jealous anymore, he just wants everything to be okay again, because usually eddie‘s always by his side when they go out.

so instead of focusing on the other people around them he decides to give eddie a little show and of course eddie can‘t stay mad at him any longer. and then they sneak off to a bathroom somewhere and talk about everything and both apologize to each other.

when they get back to robin and nancy it‘s VERY clear by the way they’re dancing with each other that the girls don‘t mind if steve and eddie leave to have a chill evening cuddled up in bed together.
