im like. 99% sure that when i walked out of that pit and had internet connection again (since the stadium wifi didnt reach the floor smh) my first message was sent to @midnightpretenders0 saying im a changed man after seeing blood orange live and just.. yeah. this was a huge highlight for me. a moment that still lives rent free in my head. i could say oc as a whole was my moment of 2023 but this. this particular one. yeah. yeah this is it. and for real, i am a changed man (gn) for good after witnessing this live and in person

Something that bothers me a lot in this fandom in that you can’t like a character and call them out for their poor actions at the same time. The character can’t be at fault for anything ever. The character can’t be multidimensional, the pain they’ve caused(indirectly or otherwise) can’t be a topic of discussion.

imagining the scene where suguru comes home after slaughtering the village. it's the dead of night, but he still has the key to the house so he's able to enter without waking his parents. he has the twins wait in his childhood bedroom while he opens the doors to his parents bedroom, where they're both fast asleep.

i like to think that he tries to kill them as quickly and painlessly as possible - he has no personal resentment for them, in the moment it's just business. it's simply because they're non-sorcerers, and non-sorcerers must die. maybe he has a curse that just saps away their life force so that they simply don't wake up. maybe it's something more grisly but only lasts a moment - piercing through the brain like a silent gunshot, bleeding them so fast they don't have the chance to realize what's happening. maybe when he kills one, the other wakes up for the briefest moment, just long enough to recognize their son but not long enough to process any of it. maybe suguru makes eye contact with them one last time as the life leaves their eyes.

he buries them himself, his own private funeral. in the moment, he doesn't feel anything - he's been completely numb from the moment he snapped, completely disconnected from his feelings and humanity and just going through the motions, doing what he thinks needs to be done. it only hits him once he finds somewhere for himself and the girls to stay for the night and they're tucked into bed, safe and asleep. it's only then that the weight of everything he's done suddenly hits him and he realizes he can truly never go back. even when he breaks down he has to do it as quietly as possible as to not wake the twins, only allowing himself to cry in the silence of the hotel bathroom - and once the sun rises, he has to shut that all away and keep moving.
