But a neo-pagan sets aside 26 December – 22 January as a month devoted to Hestia.

Prayers•
Historical-
Holy Queen of Sanctity, we hymn you, Hestia, whose abiding realm is Olympus and the middle point of earth and the Delphic laurel tree! You dance around Apollo’s towering temple rejoicing both in the tripod’s mantic voices and when Apollo sounds the seven strings of his golden phorminx and, with you, sings the praises of the feasting gods. We salute you, daughter of Kronos and Rhea, who alone brings firelight to the sacred altars of the gods; Hestia, reward our prayer, grant wealth obtained in honesty; then we shall always, dance around your glistening throne.
For the lost -
Blessed Hestia, the first and the last, and the always flame. May your light burn bright and strong, May your prayers be those of respect and love, May you guide the lost, And give to those who have nothing. I give thanks to you, Hestia, for all that you have done And continue to do.
For people with intrusive thoughts -
I ask Hestia, the kind goddess, to help those who feel down. May they find comfort and peace inside of their homes and inside their own minds. Protect them for their destructive thoughts, and be the safe place they need so much
A prayer for homeles—
In Hestia’s name, may you always have a home and a roof over your head. May you always be comfortable and warm with a full belly. May you always be in good spirits and good company, never knowing the pervading loneliness that envelopes the soul.
Morning
Blessed Hestia, Fill this home with your light and bounty, As the day fills it with golden sunshine.
Evening
Glorious Hestia, Let your hearth fire warm this house, As night draws her shadowed cloak over it now.
Blessings of the kitchen-
Hestia bless my little kitchen, I love it’s every nook And bless me as I do my work, Wash pots and pans and cook. May the meals that I prepare, Be seasoned from above, With thy blessings and thy grace, But most of all thy love

It has become an annual tradition for me to help Antonia put together her farmer's market booth, where she sells all of the fruits, vegetables, and homemade goods that her family's community farm has produced over the past year. Every year, the harvest brings more and more goods. But this autumn, she has outgrown the farmer's market, and is now selling at a roadside stand!
Tumblr media
Antonia is ten years old in 1978, when she is inspired by the American Indian Movement to help establish a community farm on land her family owns. It's been a huge success. It has strengthened bonds between friends and neighbors as they all care for each other and make sure that nobody goes hungry.
Tumblr media
Whatever is left over after everyone is fed, is then sold at the roadside stand. Antonia is also supplementing with a few special handmade extras that help bring in a little more money. The money will help pay for everything needed to help Snow Mountain Farm grow bigger and better.
Tumblr media
Antonia is so proud of what the fields and orchards have grown.
Tumblr media
Just look at the size of some of these pumpkins!
Under the cut, Antonia will give you an up-close look at what she's selling....
Everything seen here was either made by me, harvested from the wild, or purchased. (See if you can guess which ones were handmade/bought/gathered!)
Tumblr media
The gourd and squash harvest was abundant this year. Antonia managed to coax the garden into producing a few giant pumpkins.
Tumblr media
Lots of other fruits thrived as well!
Tumblr media
Pears are new this year.
Tumblr media
Beautiful pink plums are also new.
Tumblr media
Apples are a returning favorite. There are three varieties this year: sweet yellow apples, tart green apples, and a red striped variety that has its own unique flavor.
Tumblr media
In the front row are apples, plums, chiles, and pears. On the shelf there are fresh flowers and packaged seeds, various fruit jams, honey, apple cider, dried ground herbs, potted herb seedlings, packaged seeds, and bottles of apple cider.
Tumblr media
Up on the shelf there are several varieties of jam: rose petal, peach, grape, prickly pear, and strawberry. Next to them is honey that the farm's bees made from the local wildflowers. The apple cider is made from apples grown in the farm's orchard.
Tumblr media
One particular farmer is very gifted in the art of raising flowers. Here you can buy fresh cut flowers, or seedlings for your own garden.
Tumblr media
Fruit and vegetable seedlings or seeds are also for sale.
Tumblr media
On the checkout counter, Antonia is selling popcorn and apple cider donuts. Directly below the donuts are cartons of eggs, which include white, brown, and speckled eggs.
Tumblr media
Below the checkout counter is the small shelf offering some smaller items. In the plastic bags are freshly made tamales, which are like dumplings of meat, veggies, beans, or cheese mixed with a corn dough and steamed inside corn husks. To the right are two wheels of goat's milk cheese. In the middle are skeins of yarn dyed with natural sources, like prickly pear fruits and cabbage leaves. Next to those are bars of soap, in sagebrush or rose petal scent. And on the right end of the shelf are bagged pine nuts, gathered from the wild.
Below that is more produce! On the left, colored corn. In the crates there are potatoes, cherries, strawberries, tomatoes, peaches, and cauliflower.
Tumblr media
Antonia is especially proud of the fancy colored corn she has grown. It's fun to open the ears and see what colors the kernels are!
Next to that are giant sunflowers. Above that are the pretty gourds and squashes.
Tumblr media
On the bench are some lovely watermelons. And surrounding those are even more pumpkins and squash!
Tumblr media
These, too, emerged in all sorts of different colors and shapes. Antonia lets the different varieties cross pollinate, so that the appearances of the resulting pumpkins are a surprise.
Tumblr media
Thanks for stopping by! Here, take a sunflower home with you!

My observations from the Welcome Home secret Episodes and Other Important Items. (Some details will be reblogged on this post.)
Hidden Video Link Summaries
These are summaries I created of each secret of @partycoffin's Welcome Home episodes and the few things I've notices in them. I have yet to review the audio linked from the pictures drawn by Wally, but I am curious if they are the "Answers" to each question that cuts off the video.
These episodes can be accessed by finding all the bugs on the pages of the Welcome home website. I will late post all their locations, but the links will be pictured below.
In all the episodes, there is a loud dial sound or a noise cutting to the video at the beginning. The video ends when another character mentions Wally, causing the video and audio to glitch. We seem to be viewing Wally’s point of view in these episodes.
“Answer"
Howdy delivers yarn to Poppy and procures a “yarn spinner” which is most likely a handheld whisk. Poppy is appreciative but skeptical about this device, as she already has help from Wally.
POV- We are sitting on a quilt with yarn in our hands looking at the ground. He remains rather stationary the entire time.
2. “Answer”
Sally is asking Poppy to make her a cake for an upcoming show or play. She wants a huge three tier cake that’s vibrant and showstopping. Poppy inquires about the flavor or the cake, but Sally hadn’t thought that far ahead since the audience wouldn’t be able to taste it from their seats. Then Poppy asks Wally what he thinks and that’s when the video ends.
POV- We are sitting on a quilt with plates of tea, an apple, pancakes, and a duck plate of a single piece of broccoli. Compared to last time, we see Wally move his hand back and forth from the teacup in front of him.
3. "Answer"
Sally has come in to Howdy’s grocery store to buy either chips or potatoes. She wants something light, something not as heavy as chips so Howdy suggests mashed potatoes. She ends up getting those and a bunch of other food that seem inedible. Then Howdy asks if Wally wants anything.
POV- We are facing two cereal boxes. The cereal box on the right is moved forward slightly during the video.
4. “Answer”
Frank tends to his flowers while Barnaby makes insufferable jokes. He insists that Barnaby leave since his jokes are poisoning his flowers. Frank then asks Wally how he deals with Barnaby, ending the video.
POV- We are sitting in the tomato garden surrounded by clothespins of red, blue, yellow, orange. To his front right, there is either a pulverized or half eaten tomato and to his left is a blue clothespin facing upside down in the dirt. These clothespins oddly look like people.
5. “Answer”
Eddie is delivering mail when he trips and falls over. He gets back up and mentions that he ran into a few buildings today and played hopscotch that Julie drew earlier. He delivers the mail he has for Wally, and Barnaby begins to chase Eddie who is supposed to deliver his Kazoo collection today. Eddie runs away as Barnaby makes it to the front to Wally.
POV- We look to be staring at the ground with leaves on the left side and an odd-looking teethed stick in front of him. The ground seems to be covered in letters.
6. “Answer”
Frank is talking with Julie about how there are beetles eating up the tomatoes he’s grown. He wishes they would leave the tomatoes alone so Julie suggests that they put up a sign to tell them that they can look but not touch. But Frank insists the beetles can’t read. Julie believes that they can because they have big eyes, but Frank says that comment was rude, and they poke fun at each other with rude jokes. Then Frank suggests coming up with a joke to save his Tomatoes, saying that with the three of them, they could figure something out.
POV- We are pointed down in at the ground, similar to the position in video 4, where we are in the tomato patch. This time the clothespins are rearranged and where the blue clothespin was, are a few yellow tomatoes that have been half eaten and lightly covered in dirt. The red tomato on the right is covered in dirt too.
7. “Answer”
Julie is instructing Eddie on how to be a good associate of the “Breen Berry” company, with her as President Joyful. She is demanding that Eddie follow along at her pace, as it is difficult to run a business. Julie gets a phone call from someone and finds out that the company has gone broke, and she goes on a rampage. Eddie gets a call from Barnaby who’s looking for Wally and Eddie hands Wally the phone.
POV- We are looking at a piece of paper with a drawing of a pie and a drawing of Wally with the word “Breen” written at the bottom. There are crayons and some colored paper next to him.
8. “Answer”
A bell rings and Frank enters the post office where Eddie is freaking out about a beetle in the office. Apparently, it has been rummaging around, making a mess of things, so Eddie called Frank to catch it. Frank teases him and catches the beetle, taking it away.
POV- We are next to a pile of paper chains and paper, looking down at them.
9. “Answer”
Poppy is trying a new recipe out, one that involves fruit and seeds, with no gelatin. Frank comforts her as they talk about the food. Frank references that if the muffins were shaped into butterflies and had the seeds in them, that could’ve saved his garden from the previous episodes. Poppy is so worried she will burn or hurt herself in some way as she takes out the muffins and Frank reassures her, asking Wally to assure that everyone is safe and sound.
POV- We are looking down at a plate and an apple shaped game of tic-tac-toe. A tray of fruit and seed muffins slide onto the table, and later a handkerchief or towel is put down beside it.
10. “Answer”
Sally is rehearsing a play where Julie is princess turned queen and house is her knight in shining armor. Julie is supposed to be reading from the script but she keeps adding wacky lines declared as law, which in turn frustrates Sally. Sally lets it go and then emphasizes how difficult directing is to Wally.
POV- We are looking at a script procured by Sally, showing the lines that Julie is supposed to be reading.
11. “Answer”
Julie is making jokes to Barnaby and says that they are absolutely terrible. Julie continues to try and prove that they’re good, exclaiming that Frank thinks she is funny too. Barnaby continues to tease her, and Julie tries to get Wally to agree that she’s funny.
POV- We are looking at the leaves as the sun peers through them. It looks as if it were sunset.
12. “Answer”
Howdy is telling a story about his very extensive family members and Barnaby acts to be interested, trying to follow along in Howdy’s tale. Barnaby makes some jokes about the play-on-words and they both laugh. Then Howdy asks Wally how his drink is.
POV- We look down at a table with a sundae to our right and a spoon and a blue swirly straw to our left. The tablecloth is striped red and white.
13. “Answer”
Eddie delivers a bunch of packages to Howdy and finds he needs to deliver a bunch of bowling balls to Julie.
POV- We are looking at a bunch of multicolored apples.
14. "Answer"
Barnaby is making jokes to House who replies with squeaks and creeks. Barnaby then makes a joke that House doesn’t like and Barnaby tries to prove that he is funny. Then Barnaby notices that Wally has stopped painting and is acting weird.
POV- We are starring at a blob of white paint and a blob or red paint.

Note
Ok so I saw this ask and while I agree with it, I think they at least wore promise rings first that they made for each other.
Red put a lock of his yarn hair on it by somehow making it into an embroidered-like flower. In the middle of the flower, he glued on a small pebble.
Duck made the one for Red with flimsy sticks that could be easily braided. He plucked out some of his down feathers and stuck them in in the shape of a star.
As an added bonus, Duck and Red go to Yellow at different times asking for input on what to add, to which he says "GLITTER!"
So now the down feather star and string flower are covered in glitter.
Once they get wedding rings, they either wear the promise rings with the wedding rings, or they take the star/flower and glue it onto the wedding rings.
DUCK WEARING RED'S YARN AND RED WEARING DUCKS FEATHERS IS SO CUTE I'M CRYING SO HARD.
Yellow is good at crafts so he can help them <3

Early Appalachian families carved out an existence from the wilderness. They cleared and planted small acreages, built solid cabins, and raised their children. Their day-to-day existence was more difficult and isolated than that of people living east of the Appalachians.
Women had many chores to attend to everyday. One of them was spinning cloth on their looms then dyeing color into the cloth. Cloth created on their looms or baskets woven from the white oak they cut and split, they could choose to leave the wool or oak splits in their natural color or dye them with dyes made from sources found in nature. Dye sources were usually collected when they were at their peak in color, but some could be used at any time.
The dye sources would be broken up into small pieces and added to hot water. They would remain in the hot water for at least an hour and then were strained, if necessary, before the actual dye process.
The material being treated would remain in the dye for as long as the woman desired for shade of color. When it was removed from the dye bath, the material was rinsed several times to remove excess dye. To make sure a color would be permanent, mordants were added. The mordants fix the dye to the yarn or split and help them absorb color. The most popular mordants were salt or vinegar. These were available in Appalachian homes. Other mordants could be obtained from a chemical supply house and were used for specific results. Tin gave bright results. Iron gave the darkest results. Alum darkened the color. Chrome gave slightly darker or brassier results than alum. Cream of tartar or tartaric acid brightened color and kept the wool silky
The mordant recipes are detailed:
1. Basic alum recipe: dissolve 3 ounces of alum into ½ cup of warm water and add to
2. Cream of tartar recipe: dissolve one ounce of cream of tartar separately into ½ cup of warm water and add to the dye liquor.
3. Chrome recipe: ¼ oz. of chrome, 4 gallons of water. Dissolve chrome in ½ cup of water.
Stir and heat to simmer before immersing material to be dyed. Cover and simmer for one hour. After the first hour, cut off heat and let cool.
4. Tin recipe: ½ oz. Tin, 2 oz. Cream of tartar, ¾ oz. Oxalic acid, 4 gallons water. Dissolve mordant ingredients separately in ½ cup water. Add to 4 gallons of warm water. Stir after each addition. Bring water to simmer for one hour. Put in material to dye and leave for one hour. Turn off heat and let cool. Rinse out and then rinse and wash again.
5. Iron recipe: ¾ oz. granular ferrous sulfate, ¾ oz. Oxalic acid, 4 gallons neutral waters. Dissolve iron in ½ cup warm water. Add to 4 gallons of water. Dissolve Oxalic acid
separately in ½ cup of warm water. Add to pot. Stir, add wool, and bring bath to simmer for one hour. Turn off. Let wool cool. Rinse. Store until ready to use.
6. Salt or vinegar recipe: ½ pint added to the dye bath before removing material from the dye bath.
Dye sources were readily found in the mountainous regions of the Appalachians. Some of the most common were:
Dye Source Color Mordant
1. Walnut hulls brown not needed
2. Pokeberries red purple vinegar
3. Queen Anne’s Lace light green alum
4. Marigold flower heads gold tin
5. Sweet gum balls gray not needed
6. Willow bark and twigs rose tan to brown not needed
7. Onion yellow salt
8. Coffee or tea tan to brown salt
9. Rhododendron green vinegar
Purple cabbage makes a violet color. Beet juice makes a red-purple, sumac berries make red, and clay dirt makes a sienna color.
The dye material should be heated to a simmer in at least two to three gallons of water. Time will vary for each dye source. If a dye source is powdery or is a small leafy substance, such as tea or coffee, tie it in a cheesecloth .
This sounds like a long process. Can you imagine? AND you still have to cook Supper, but you gotta chop the wood for the fire before you even start cooking, not to mention changing diapers and sweeping the yard.

Crochet and Sketches
Was having Huxley thoughts yesterday. Wrote this today for those thoughts 1.3k words (short but sweet)
I opened the door. “C’mon in Hux,” I said with a smile.
“Hey dude,” Huxley greeted, stepping over the threshold. The grin on his face was smaller than usual. Had been ever since the Inversion.
“Have a seat. What brings you by? Can I get you a drink?” I gestured to the couch. Hux perched on the edge of the cushion.
“No thanks, I’m good. I, uh, brought you something,” he said. He patted the cushion next to his. I went and sat beside him. From within the pocket of his athletic shorts, he pulled out something made of yellow and green yarn. “This, uh, this is for you.”
I took it from his offering hand and unrolled it. “What is it?” I asked curiously.
“I-it’s a doily.” He picked at some dirt under one of his fingernails and refused to meet my eyes. “It’s for that succulent I gave you when I was moving—so you can put it under the pot and keep whatever surface its on a little cleaner.”
I studied the little decoration. “Huxley—did you make this?” The inside half was yellow, and the outside half was green—like a flower sitting on leaves. In certain spots I could see where the yarn was a little loose, but there was care and attention in every stitch.
I looked up and met Huxley’s eyes. So vibrant green it was almost unnatural. “Yeah. Yeah, I did,” he admitted, quickly looking away.
I wrapped my arms around him. “It’s beautiful. When did you learn to crochet?”
He gestured vaguely—awkwardly—with his hands. “My moms taught me when I was a kid,” he said. “Knit, crochet. The whole gamut. But, uh, I haven’t really done any-a that in a while. My...” He cleared his throat. “My therapist recommended I start it up again. Said the repetitive motions are really good for de-stressing.”
I nodded as understanding hit me. He was being awkward about it because of how we tended to dance around talking about therapy and the reason we were both in it.
I got up from the couch and went to the succulent on the end table nearest the living room window in my apartment. I picked up the small clay pot and set the doily under it. “Look at that,” I said with a smile. “It looks perfect.” I turned back to face my friend. “Thank you, Hux. It’s beautiful, and I love it.”
Hux kept avoiding my gaze and fidgeting. “It’s no problem, Freelancer.”
“Dude, look at me,” I requested softly. Hux met my eyes. “Thank you. Really.”
There was his smile. A little melancholy still, but at least it was there. “You’re welcome, Freelancer.”
“If it makes you feel any better, I’ve started drawing again at the suggestion of my therapist,” I said. I reached into the same end table’s drawer and withdrew my small sketchbook. The big one was back in my bedroom—and my Elemental friends were not allowed to look at it. The sheer amount of Gavin completely naked I’d drawn—or, rather, attempted to draw—would get me so much crap from them. Even if it was hilarious imagining how red Lasko would get in the face at the sight. None of them were allowed to see it.
I handed Huxley the small sketchbook.
“Go ahead. Flip through. There’s nothing... Inversion in there.”
Huxley flipped open the front cover. On the first page, I’d drawn my new family. The group shot we’d taken at the restaurant we’d had dinner at after my performance at the E&E Games.
Huxley touched the page with his fingertips, almost reverently.
“I-it’s a little rough,” I said. “I mean, I haven’t really drawn anything in... God, it’s been years. Since, like, three years before I told my parents about my powers and... y’know.” I cleared my throat. “Moved here.” Lasko was the only one of my friends who knew the whole story of what happened between me and my blood relatives after I told them about my powers, but all my friends knew my parents hadn’t taken it well.
“It looks great,” Huxley said. “I can tell exactly who’s who, even without looking at the photo.”
I smiled. “Thanks.”
“Mind if I leaf through?”
“Go ahead.”
I leaned back casually on my couch and let him flip through the pages at his leisure. My art had taken a near-five-year break from the time I met Caelum for the first time to now, but using it to see the joy in my life again at the suggestion of my therapist had helped more than I thought it might.
Occasionally Hux would look up and ask questions about what I’d drawn. Book characters, TV show characters, friends from my old life, a few blood relatives. I had to lie when he found the picture I’d drawn of Caelum and say he was from a book I’d read as a kid.
After he made it through the pages I’d filled in, he handed it back to me. “Guess we’re both finding coping mechanisms,” he said.
I nodded. “Yeah. And that’s a good thing, right?”
He nodded too. “Hell yeah, dude.”
I flipped through my sketchbook back to the page of a picture I’d drawn more from memory than any photo on my phone. It was Huxley holding me up by my ankle while I dangled with a grumpy look on my face, arms folded to keep my shirt from falling up too high. He’d been teasing me while we were out at a park with Lasko and Damien. He’d hoisted me up when I’d told him he probably couldn’t. Lasko had a blurry picture that he’d taken hastily, but he’d never sent it to either me or Hux. So the drawing was from memory.
I took a picture of the drawing with my phone—
And promptly tore it out of the book.
“Whoa—dude—what are you doing?” Hux asked.
I leaned closer and held the page out to him. “Take it. I want you to have it,” I said.
“No. Freelancer, I can’t—”
“The damage is done, Hux. I already tore it out. You might as well keep it.” I shook the page at him. “Please.”
Tenderly, he took the paper from my hand. “Thank you, Freelancer. Really. I promise I’ll take good care of it.”
I shrugged. “It’s a piece of paper, dude,” I said.
“Yeah. But it’s special. Because it came from someone special. And it’s got a special memory on it. So it should be treated with the respect and care all that deserves.” Hux held the drawing close to him, shrugging slightly.
I smiled. Small, but still touched. “Thanks, Hux,” I said. Settling back against the back of the sofa, I folded my arms. “So. Did you just stop by to drop off the doily or do you wanna chill for a bit? I’m down for ordering out or making something, if you’re hungry.”
Huxley grinned. “I’m down to chill. I’m not hungry yet.”
“Ya wanna get your ass kicked at Smash?”
That got a real laugh out of him. Throaty and deep. Big. His old laugh—from back when we were first getting to know each other. “Oh-ho,” he teased. “Big talker.”
“C’mon, Hux. We both know you can beat me. I’m just smack talking.”
“I know, Freelancer. But... thanks. You always know how to make us all laugh.”
I shrugged. “Natural talent.”
Huxley chuckled. “Alright. If you think you can handle it, I’m down to kick your ass at Smash, Freelancer.”
I laughed and got up. “We shall see, Huxley. We. Shall. See.”

[image description: two images of a crocheted flower crown. In the first image, Greenpath Vessel is wearing it. There are a few leaves and loose strands of plant life dangling in front of their face underneath the flowers. The second image is a top down shot of the flower crown. Starting from the top and going clockwise, there is a sprig of pastel blue flowers, a bright red flower with two layers of four heart shaped petals, a pink flower with eight petals, a sprig of silver flowers, a yellow flower with eight petals, a light blue flower with five petals, and a white flower with five petals. There are also four leaves of varying sizes, the smallest two of which are clustered together, and various strands of plant life wreath the flower crown. Most of these strands are one singular yarn strand of leafy green, but there are some that have two or three fibers. end image description]
who would i be if i didn’t give orchid a flower crown /hj
look at them!!! they are so pretty!!!!! they are actually one of the cutest things i have ever made i swear. totally not biased or anything. :D
it was interesting figuring out how to get the flower crown to actually function as a crown. i wasn’t totally sure how i was going to join the ends to make a circlet, since i opted to make it a cord and add flowers as i worked along it. i mostly ended up sewing the ends into each other though lmao, but it works. the join actually isn’t that obvious either, which is surprising.
also surprise surprise it’s fun to crochet flowers /s the silver sprig was actually a bit of a blunder on my part as i was still figuring out how to get that lavendery look that i Did achieve with the pastel blue sprig. though i don’t think it takes away from the overall aesthetic of the crown, it mostly just looks like a different type of flower to me. also i do have to say that i’m very glad i got a little wild with the flower patterns, since originally i was just going to do all five petaled flowers and man that would have looked so boring. and that pastel blue sprig looks Really good too, and it’s very soft, so :)
orchid’s horns make it both easy to hook the flower crown on and kind of awkward to keep it on their head, because their shell sort of doesn’t have a lot of grip. as long as i don’t jostle them too much it stays on, but it really likes falling off lmao. still! my personal headcanon of orchid has them almost constantly wear a flower crown, so this is very lore accurate, at least in my books. and also it’s just cute. anyone who doesn’t make greenpath vessel’s design or name or some aspect of their personality about plants is a coward /hj
and as an add on to the previous post about them where i didn’t elaborate much on making them because i was out of spoons,, honestly i don’t have too much to add. i actually used the pattern from making ghost, with some tweaks since i. did not properly write down the pattern. :| and i had to figure some stuff out as i went, but otherwise it was roughly the same deal. it was surprisingly not That bad to get started on their cloak? i remembered it being a huge pain in the ass for ghost so aksdkskjs
figuring out how to put tears in their cloak was a fun challenge though. like i said, crochet kind of isn’t the right medium for that, especially since i was working in rounds, but i figured something out. some finagling with chains and skipping stitches got me a vertical rip close to the bottom of their cloak. it isn’t very visible, but it’s there and it was nice to figure it out.
anyhow look at my baby. they are gorgeous and very cute. i’m right.

Under the wire! July’s custom is Rosabella:)
I HAD another custom I was doing but then the whole DOLL disappeared so I couldn’t finish it so needed a very last minute replacement. I’ve been meaning to make Rosabella a new outfit so now was the time!
Tumblr media
This is her original outfit. I like the bodice, I like the skirt but not together! It just looks wrong (I have the same problem with Justine’s dress).
Tumblr media
Using Requiemart’s summer dress with bolero pattern I made her new outfit. Her dress is pale green with reddish pink roses and yellow flowers with the front panel being cream with matching roses. I love this fabric as the roses are the same shape as the ones in her accessories and the yellow ties in nicely with the gold. I really wanted to crochet her a fuzzy sweater but the red yarn I wanted was MIA but I found this faux velvet which I think works even better!
Tumblr media
I painted the whole row of roses (only the top one was originally) and now they really pop! I might go in later and paint the straps but this works for now:)
I really love how it came out! She feels more put together; I’m glad I didn’t go with yellow for her dress now and am very happy with the red velvet. Maybe not a custom per se but she feels like a new doll to me!

Garden Report & Frugal Living 23.07.22
Note to self: do not dry cherry plums with pits still in (you know better!).
It has been a cold, damp type of summer and all of a sudden signs of autumn are creeping in. The ginkgo tree leaves are moving towards the yellow colour spectrum of green. Just this week I found a couple of leaves on the walkway.
I need to work on the sewing machine’s tension to see if I can balance it myself. I do miss my old treadle machine -- it never had a problem. I really need to assemble the ancient hand machine I had shipped (a year? two years? maybe more? i’m winding down like an old clock not being able to keep the correct time). The sewing projects and mending needs are piling up and there is not good storage/holding area for these. I need better organizational. This includes yarn and other fibers plus the tools. Wouldn’t an old fashion work room be lovely?
This was the first time we couldn’t get the laundry bar /soap from the hardware store so we had to order that. Its taking a couple of weeks to arrive but its in bulk so we can make our laundry sauce for a bit then. A little bit of an investment but it will ‘keep’.
In the garden I got the peas planted. I pre-spouted some before planting. It was interesting to see some just turn to goop or fall apart while others developed a healthy eye root. Hoping that will give them a head start before pest arrive. Planted some leeks, red amaranth and more kale. Needing to rework the grow boxes as needed. The garlic we planted in the autumn/winter is closer to being harvested but due to weather, its not ready (still!). This week the fog was so thick, I actually thought its was rain with the way the flow off the roofs was happening -- maybe it was and that weatherman is just lying (again/still). I know some people are just pulling their garlic and onions up impatiently but I want full heads, not just a bulbous clove. I have some other garlic that is just begging to be put in the ground.  I might just put them guerilla gardening style in the front garden. Still need to get the root crops in but ... circle back *check notes*, need to rework the grow boxes.
Since the season is putting out an autumn vibe, I feel the need to prep the aviary. Its a little early but I don’t think the hens mind -- it means more out time to run amuck and get into trouble.  Its been slim on the greens this year. Usually I can grow enough for our table and scraps for the chickens, supplemented by other people that will save their green veg for them but this year we are down to slim pickings solo. They are adjusting to getting nettles (the grass i let go in the front for them is done) so i am thankful that those give me three croppings. By the time I get across the patch, I start again at the other end.
Because of the veg and fruit shortages and in addition to me not feeling energetic, I am putting most of the pantry goods through the dehydrator. I hesitated to do cucumbers but I did try a small handful of an old english variety of cucs and made cuc chips. They have an interesting earthy flavour. I think they will be a fun crunch on winter salades, like veggie croutons. There are probably other uses but right now watching the grocer warehouse as to deals coming through and trying to plan accordingly. Roma style toms are just about at a price point that I’m agreeable with. I hope to get a case tomorrow. Green bell peppers are coming in at a very low price but blueberries will be coming to an end and only have the one dehydrator since Kat has my other one. The grocer is also getting ready to dump frozen berries at a cheaper price than fresh (making room for new stock) so I am tempted to buy bulk and turn into fruit leather. Fingers crossed that utilities aren’t diverted since the drier is electric. We don’t get enough sun to lay things out in the car to dehydrate!
Flowers: its was a slow start. Most of the roses had a spectacular show. Not to be outdone, the dahlias, daisies and other flowers are really doing their best. It is really nice to have enough to have cut flowers in the house. There was a great flux of bees this spring and early summer but of late, there isn’t very many (except for that super swarm I drove through -- now that was sad!) . It could be just not enough for them in my garden or they visit when I’m out and away.
Hope you all are getting out and gardening and doing something awesome.

*Meddlesome casually ran in the room with a bundle of flowers, put them on the table, and ran back out quickly, as if this is a normal thing for them to do. The bundle of flowers had yellow, light pink, and white roses in it, with all of the stems looking like they had been poorly cut with most of them being uneven, with the thorns slightly still attached, a few even having a slight red color to them, with a peice of paper attached to the red yarn holding it together
Antonio walked over to the table to look at what the anon had brought him.
Flowers? For him? After what he'd done to them...? He assumed this could be their version of making it up to him.
Then, he spotted the paper, which he turned over to see what was written on it - that was, if there was anything written on it at all.

Not only is it my birthday today, it's also...
THAIS'S BIRTHDAY!! 🎉🎂🐐
Couldn't come up with any special events for her, but still wanted to make a post about it
So, let's see what her friends gifted her in this important day for her!
-- --
[Her Gang & Her Brother - My OCs]
Xeron gifter her a beautiful bouquet of red and white waratahs, one of her birth flowers. She had never seen them in person, so you can imagine her excitement... Even more so when he placed a handmade hair clip with the same flowers on her hair. The plants in this accessory are protected with a preservation spell
Sei embroidered her zodiac sign's constellation and a mergoat in a marine blue hoodie. The string glows in the dark!! And the hood actually has holes with beautiful golden embroidery that accommodate for her horns!!
Blake presented her a beautiful bookmark made out of resin, gold flakes, and pressed flowers of pink and yellow colors. It also has a silky white tassel from which a tiny skeleton key charm hangs
Koron played a song he composed inspired by his sister's struggles with self-doubt and irrational perfectionism, and how she's slowly learning to fight back those negative thoughts (all credit to Porter Robinson, the composer and producer of the song)
BONUS: Zion gifted her a big bag of dried chrysanthemums to make tea with, since he heard that's a tasty brew
[Twst boys she's friends with]
Kalim gifted her the softest scarf that appears to have space itself emptied into the yarn it's made with! It's as if it was knitted with starlight! He knows her hometown gets chilly around December, so he wanted to give her something useful (but still luxurious)
Riddle gave her a leather bound journal of deep green color. The front has small pockets on which she can carry little flasks and test tubes for seeds and flora specimens while she studies and makes notes of the environment.
Ace, Deuce, Grim and MC bought her a comically large bar of milk chocolate since she loves chocolate so much. She ended up sharing half of it with them
Trey baked her some delicate tea biscuits to enjoy with her favorite chamomile blend
Cater gifted her some heart shaped rubber toe stops for her roller skates. He also treated her to a date her favorite food, tempura donburi! Of course, he grabbed his skateboard and she put on her skates to go to the place~ It was tons of fun!
Rook and Prof. Crewel presented her two little flasks that held two hard to find ingredients for alchemy. The stars in her eyes, I tell ya
Lastly, Ortho spent the night online gaming with her. They both enjoy a colorful 3rd person shooter (ahem twst splatoon). It was a blast to come together and rise up in the ranking
-- --
Happy Birthday to my dearest Ace of Spades, my Mergoat baby, Thais Adamante 🥺🐐💖 !!!

I don't think I've ever actually posted a chapter of my little Paz Vizsla/Reader fic here, but I updated it today and thought I'd crosspost anyways xD This probaly won't make much sense without knowing the rest of it, so the link to Chapter 1 is in the post source.
---
Mandoa' for Beginners - Chapter 9: Ruusal
Rating: General Audiences Archive Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply Category: F/M Fandoms: The Mandalorian (TV), Star Wars - All Media Types Relationships: Paz Vizsla/Reader, Paz Vizsla/You Characters: Paz Vizsla, Earthling!Reader - Character Word Count: ca. 1.5 K
Summary: Paz found something. You are homesick.
Paz sits in the quiet of his room. The only sounds are the hum of the ventilation - and the creaking of leather as he absentmindedly fumbles his pouch you found in the corridor a while ago.
You gave it back to him, and he's sure you didn't lie about not opening it because all of his pouches are subtly rigged in a way that would tell him of unauthorized access.
As his focus wanders to another pouch lying on his table, he feels - bad.
Because it is your pouch. And he did look inside. And he hasn't told you that he found it.
It's a belt pouch, made of a green canvas, closed with a zipper, and apparently has been mended a few times in such way that little embroidered flowers now cover what has been the holes. Basically it looks like a flower meadow. By now he has looked at it long enough to make out your first mending try, its flower being a little crooked, the stitches not quite alined and wobbly. He can't help admiring the patience displayed here and how your skill has progressed with each flower. This is a well-worn and well-loved pouch.
Its belt is ripped, but the snap closing still works fine.
He looks at the entrails placed neatly around the pouch on the table.
There is a plastic card with letters he can't read and a picture of you that looks like a mugshot. It's probably some sort of ID given the official looking holograms and stuff.
There's a dispenser. He's not sure if it's drugs or medicine that gets pumped out when pressing down the little metal cartridge in the plastic hull, but there's only a thin line between them anyway.
There's also a little figurine. Yellow. It could be a sponge? But for all that he knows, sponges usually don't have big blue eyes and wear pants, shoes and a tie.
There's a pocket knife. The outer shell is red, with a silver logo that looks like a heraldic crest with a cross in the middle. It looks worn and well used, the logo almost faded. Could that be your family crest? He checks the tools. One large blade as long as the case, and a smaller one about half the length. A saw. Something that could be used for leather work. A can opener. A screw driver. Another screwdriver it seems, for cross-slit headed screws. Tweezers. One little thing is missing, given the size of the hole in the case it couldn't be more than a tooth pick, though.
Some dirt has accumulated in the cracks between the tools, making crunching sounds when opening them. This thing could use a nice oil bath, the blades some sharpening, too.
Should he do it? Should he not? The loth-cat is out of the sack anyway.
He puts the knife back on the table for now, postponing the decision, and continues to examine the entrails of your bag.
There's a pack of gum, he recognizes instantly by the minty smell, and he huffs a laugh at the universality of it.
There's also a little ball of yarn in different colours and as he unravels it he recognizes that its actually different strands yarns in blue, yellow and brown that have been knotted into an simple checkered pattern. There's a big knot at the top holding all the strands and a saftey pin pinned through it. Pretty colours, he thinks, and winds it back up around the saftey pin.
The last thing, and the only conspicuous one he can't make sense of, is an electronic device, that might be used for communication? It has a few buttons, a little display, and connected to it with a cord/cable are what he thinks are earphones. He tries to turn it on, but no matter which of the buttons he presses, there's no response.
With a sigh he sits back in his chair. He had looked inside. Of course, he did, he had to! Making sure there's no weapons or listening bugs inside.
It was perfectly reasonable to check the contents, given the circumstances.
He still feels bad now.
With another sigh he carefully puts the contents back into the pouch, gets up and leaves his room, walking down to the Forge. He needs to talk to the Armorer.
---
When he steps out of the Forge again, his steps are a bit lighter. Now he needs to find you and he makes is way through the corridors, but something is off.
"Where the kriff is she?" Paz grumbles, trying to put a finger on the unspecific feeling that something is missing.
Then it hits him:
It is unuasually quiet, no singing, no whistling, no quiet curses of frustration that waft through the halls when you are out and about doing your tasks. The others passing him by seem unfazed by this, but it bothers him. He'd... gotten used to it, somehow.
He switches his helmet hud to "tracking", he /is/ a hunter after all. There's a lot of tracks in the corridor and he grumbles in dismay, but then he makes out smaller tracks that don't look like the usual mando boot, or 'stompers,' as you would say.
He follows these to the storage room where you found the fluff box and there they just ... stop.
"Dank ferrik", he growls and looks around and behind some boxes. But then he hears a little sniff from above.
His head snaps up - and there you are. You sit on top of one of the sturdier shelves, legs bend and pressed to your chest by your arms, and stare out of a little slit in the wall. Your spindle is lying right next to you with a length of roving dangling from the shelf top. He's not sure if you've heard him entering, so he makes his presence known.
"Hey."
"Go away." You keep staring out of the ventilation slit, back turned towards him.
"Why are you up there?"
"Me'copaani?"
"You weren't around, so I followed what I thought were your tracks."
"Not creepy at all."
He has no answer for that.
"Will you come down?"
"No."
"I'll come up then."
"What?" You look at him for the first time since he'd entered the room.
"The shelf will break."
"It won't."
He jetpacks to a neighbour shelf and settles in, feet dangling.
"You're just bragging now."
"Well, and you've got a little smile going on there, so that can't be that bad." You huff, half indignated, half amused.
"So. Me'vaar ti gar?"
"Hmpf," you offer, "naas." He tilts his head in a "bitch, please" manner. You glower at him, but he just crosses his arms and stares back through this ever inscrutable visor of his.
"Pffff. Gee, fiiine." You sigh and roll your eyes. "I'm just a little homesick I guess. It's nothing. It'll pass."
"I see."
"Great. Can you go now please and let me wallow in self-pity?"
He chuckles.
"No."
"Pfff."
"What are you missing?" The softness of the question almost knocks you over and you need a moment to recover.
"Uhm... Right now in particular? Strawberries. And my music... and icecream... rpg sessions with my friends... my bass... the smell of freshly mowed grass... Pizza... The way a street smells after a rainfall in summer... barbequeue... seeing an /actual SKY/ and clouds and stuff... and my little plushy pig... "
"A plushy pig?" he asks incredulously.
"Yes! Her name is Frieda and she's brown and a little grey with a black stripe on her back and she's supercute and soft."
"How old are you again?"
"I have you know that I am 39 and will not be shamed for having a stuffed toy to cradle and cuddle at night!"
He chuckles and lifts his hands in defeat. "Alright, alright, I concede. I... I had a little plush lothcat... lost it in the Purge. I still miss it."
Surprised, you look at the big grumpy guy in full armour and armed to the teeth - seemingly unapproachable through his many layers, but this admission is like a little window to a hidden soft core underneath it all.
And he looks at you, with your weird shirt, pants and shoes that grant no protection at all - a little singing bird amidst a horde of raptors - and he doesn't see a stranger anymore, but a kindred soul who is misplaced, by fate, across a sea of troubles. Not completely unlike him, if he's being honest.
"I'm sorry," you offer eventually with a crooked but sympathetic smile. "You've lost so much... I can't even begin to fathom."
He shrugs. "This is the Way."
He doesn't want to dwell on this thought for too long. He can't. With that, the glimpse at something softer disappears, and once again he is full beskar.
"The Armorer wants to talk to you."
You swallow hard and tense up. "Me?"
"Elek," he just nods and jets off the shelf. Before he leaves the room, he throws "Shouldn't leave her waiting" over his shoulder, and then leaves you sitting on the shelf, mind already turning and churning and wondering what you could possibly have done wrong.

The chef and his four (yokai) companions
Summary: Komatsu moved to his hometown, in hopes of opening a restaurant of his own. The small town has a strange rule; amulets and charms are put by the side of doors on buildings. They are made to prevent spirits from entering one's house and taking all of their food and valuables.
And Komatsu wishes he remembered that rule earlier.
Komatsu stops his car and smiled. It has been years ever since he had stepped into his hometown. While studying to become a chef, he never had any time to go to visit this place.
Kokuryū Town was a beautiful place, with lush fields suitable for farming. It's also filled to the brim with beautiful flowers, especially in the spring.
Opening the trunk of his car, Komatsu takes his clothes bag and fiddled to do the key or the building. A distant relative gave him the building, which is an old restaurant with living quarters on the second floor. Of course, it's an old place, so Komatsu has to clean up a lot before he can do any proper cooking.
As he opens the sliding door, something that was hanging to the side of the door fell, "Huh? What is this thing?"
He kneeled and examined the fallen object. It looks like some sort of wooden plate. The string on the plate is made of red yarn, which has snapped over time.
"Must be for the shop's name." The chef muttered. The wind suddenly blows stronger, making the old glass wind chime hanging near the door chime loudly. For some unknown reason, Komatsu felt like he was being watched. He panicked and entered the building.
In a dark alley, a tall figure wearing a straw hat was watching Komatsu entering the building. He wore a blue yukata and a black hakama. Yellow eyes stared intently at the building, before the man turned back, before disappearing into thin air.
Xxx
That night...
Komatsu spent the whole day cleaning the kitchen. So now, he's making some food for himself. As he was waiting for the noodles to boil, the wind chime makes another sound.
"The wind sure is strong, huh?"
Suddenly, the door slid open. Komatsu was surprised, as he didn't expect anyone to come this late at night. Another reason is that the man is... Tall. Like, very tall. Komatsu felt like a small mouse next to an elephant right now. Also, he wears traditional clothing, with a large straw hat that covers his whole face. Komatsu can see that the stranger has blue hair.
"Oh, sorry! This shop isn't open yet, I was making food for myself!" Komatsu nervously said. The man sighed, and Komatsu felt guilty. So Komatsu decided to serve his first customer.
As the man was going to exit, Komatsu stops him, "Hey, wait! I made too many noodles, so... I guess I can share some with you?"
The man smiled and takes a seat near the counter. Komatsu somehow found a very big bowl, so he uses that to serve it to the customer. He could hear the man eating the ramen, and smiled. That guy must've been starving. As he turns back, the man was gone. Only the giant bowl and some money was left behind.
Komatsu was confused. How could a man eat so fast, and leave without making a sound? As Komatsu picked up the money, he found a note underneath it; "Your food is very tasty! I'll make sure to come back with my friends next time!"
Komatsu smiled at the letter. He puts the money in his pocket, neatly folding the note and tucking it in. After eating his ramen, he turned off the lights and go to bed.
Xxx
Outside of the restaurant, two figures are inspecting the building. One is the customer, and another is a man with dark green yukata and black haori.
"His cooking is amazing, I've never eaten something like that in my thousand years of living," said the mysterious customer.
"Really? I guess I'll come with you too, then. Although, it's strange how he doesn't have a repelling amulet on that restaurant,"
"It fell off. He must be been an outsider who doesn't know of this village's rites,"
"I see... So as long as we hid our true nature, we can at least eat something in this world. Oh well, thanks for the news. See you tomorrow, Toriko," with that a pair of massive black wings unfurled from his back. The stranger took to the air and seemingly vanished from sight.
The customer, Toriko, walked away. Disappearing from thin air once again.
