on our fates alight--quiet interlude
Mathye grunted as he sat down, picking up a knife and a bowl to finish cutting herbs. He could feel Sebastian's eyes on him. Or rather to be more specific--on a certain part of him.
"The leg Primes with me." What Halone had done to his replacement limb Mathye wasn't sure of--and didn't want to go into it in full detail. It was still working, it could handle the aetherical surge of semi-Priming, and that was all he cared about. Sebastian quirked an eyebrow and leaned back against his seat.
"Didn't think Ishgard allowed the Ironworks in." He commented.
"They did. And then well, being the brother of Halone's Dominant has a lot of advantages." Mathye gently rotated his leg slightly. His new limb had been one of Augustine's immediate demands--and he'd just barely gotten used to it before his surprise Priming. For the novelty of it he wriggled his toes--some days he still wasn't used to the fact that he was overall pain-free again.
"You are aware those who have manners would have ended the conversation after I said the leg Primes with me."
"You seem to be laboring under the misconception that I have manners." Sebastian countered. Mathye smirked.
"Finish drinking the potion." He ordered, the smirk only growing as Sebastian darkly glowered at him. "You and Riven are just barely toeing the line on being malnourished. If there's one thing that's coming out of this mess, it's you two healing up."
"I didn't ask for your help, priest."
"Too bad, you're getting it. Now you can finish the potion, or I can wipe the floor with you and pour it down your throat while you're unconscious."

i'm so convinced that every writer for every big show or movie that has the main character have an amputation is not personally close with an amputee
with the exception of maybe forrest gump bc i thought lt. dan was very convincing and compelling
but like. they make getting and maintaining prosthetics look easy. they make it look not very painful (or the pain is super temporary). they don't bring up the emotional distress being an amputee can create, and if they bring up the ableism, it's a distasteful joke. all the negativity is done upon amputation and never beyond. and that's just so unrealistic i think. unless i, myself, am the world's most sensitive bitchy amputee.

What's Arius' dad like?
"He's a real good dad, I've neva really felt like I had ta hide thin's fro' him. Though, he doesn't take shit fro' anyone, so if ya piss 'im off, good luck ta ya."
Arius laughs softly, leaning his head on his hand.
"The man's built like a brick wall, so he comes off as this big, intimidatin' Octarian Soldier, an' he can be like that when needed. But he's also kind an' patient, an' accordin' ta my Ma, a romantic guy. Apparently, fer their first date, he wanted ta bring her favorite flowers, but because sunflowers don't really grow in the Domes, he made her origami ones."
He frowns, pausing for a moment.
"But... I know he's also lonely. I mean, Mum's only been gone a few years now, an' he still wears both the rings 'round his neck so I see him lookin' at them a lot... I feel bad, cause it ain't like I can do anythin' about it..."
