A Guide to Russian Novices: Ladies

With all the hype for the future of Russian ladies figure skating thanks to Akatieva, Zhilina, Samodelkina and co. I decided to make a guide to Russian novices for anyone who is interested.

2006-2007

Okay, technically these young ladies are already juniors but there is no JGP this season so many of their names are probably still unfamiliar to you, in addition, I really like a few of them and I need others to join the hype!

Sofia Samodelkina - Placed fourth at Junior Russian Nationals last year and won the Junior Russian Cup Final. if you watched Junior Russian Test Skates you will probably know Sofia and why I was really looking forward to her entrance at the JGP. Sofia has a pretty consistent 3A in her resume, as well as planned 4S! But jumps aside, it is her skating that I really enjoy. Her step sequences are flowing, matched to the music and she makes sure to throw in good performances and expressions in between every element.

Coach: Sergei Davydov

Sofia Muravyeva - my second-favorite junior (behind Usacheva and just ahead of Valieva and Samodelkina). Her results aren’t as amazing as her peers but oh my god is she expressive! I actually started really liking her skating two years ago, mostly because I enjoyed her programs and appreciated her lovely skating skills and spins. Her recent move to Plushenko seems to have done much good for her though, as her program components and interpretation of the music have shot up to the top of the junior field. Also, her dresses are simply exquisite.

Elizaveta Osokina - she gained a lot of attention (and deserves to gain more) because of her amazing performances at Russian Junior Test Skates. Liza’s SS are definitely some of the best in the junior ladies field, and her programs are choreographed excellently. In addition, she has great spin positions, lovely and dynamic jumps and good expressiveness. Definitely one to look out for:

Adelya Petrosyan - also a pretty well-known junior. Adelia won the third stage of the Junior Russian Cup this season, and placed sixth at Junior Russian Nationals last season. She has really great spins, amazing flexibility, fast skating, and wonderful attention to detail. I especially enjoy the fact that all her programs have been very different from one another and yet, she manages to perform them all well. 2007-2008

Sofia Akatieva - most likely going to be the “star” of this generation. She recently won two stages on the Russian Cup Stage, and was the silver medalist at Junior Russian Nationals last year. Sofia will probably fight with Kamila Valieva and Sofia Samodelkina for the title of “junior champion”. She gained a lot of attention in the past few days for landing a 3A+3T in the short program and a 3A plus two ripponed 4Ts (one in combination with a +2T). Besides consistent quads and 3A, Sofia is considered to be a pretty “full package skater”.

Elizaveta Berestovskaya - participated in the first season of Ice Age Kids and won first place. Liza is mostly kown for being very expressive and for having landed several 4T in practice and in competition. I enjoy her dedication to performing a program even despite any mistakes and she is definitely a very charming skater. My favorite programs from her include:

Veronika Zhilina - recently just won silver at the fourth stage of the Russian Cup. She’s pretty well known for her wonderful jump technique, with a deep outside edge lutz and minimal peroration on all toe jumps. In addition, she has 3A, 4T and 4Lz in her arsenal. Her quad toe loop, in particular, is very impressive for the effortlessness of the entry and the height it gets.

Alina Gorbacheva - recently just won third place at the fourth stage of the Russian Cup. She actually just came off of an injury apparently, but from watching her skating you could not tell. I especially enjoyed her short program last season, you can see her musicality shine through her skating.

Elizaveta Kulikova - participated in the second season of Ice Age Kids and made it to the finals. Very mature for her age, and she has pretty good skating skills and spins. Honestly, I find some of her performances from Ice Age to be more captivating than those in competition, but I think it’s more the fault of choreography (I think her programs are ice age may have been choreographed, or at least bits of it were, by Averbukh).

Sofia Titova - won first place at the Junior Championship of Russia last season. She’s moderately well known for her powerful jumps. Her skating is very fast, but I feel like work could be done to improve flow or emotional connection. Nonetheless, a talented individual with possible quads or 3As in the future to look out for in the future.

Ksenia Melkumova - participated in the second season of Ice Age Kids and won third place. Ksenia is my favorite from the novices, because of how expressive she is and her amazing skating skills. Let's talk about some Adventures I had in Phoenix, AZ in 2015. It came up in my FB Memories and even though I determined to let everything from last decade go, this one still rankles. I got "in trouble" with these people for being open about my experiences on my Facebook because, even though I hadn't mentioned names, they didn't like me "putting their business out there".

CW for ableism, depression, rejection sensitive dysphoria, and I'll try to put all that in the tags.

My partner, Loki (yes real name), and I had been urban camping in Portland, OR for about a month. It had gotten cold and rainy to the point where we couldn't safely stay living outdoors, and Loki's father (who didn't approve of me) had demanded he come back to California and live with Loki's uncle. He made it quite clear I was not welcome, so I ended up going to Arizona because I had a friend who was willing to put me up. She and I had known each other since 2008 and I figured I would be safe with her. At the time, Loki was much more easily influenced by what his family wanted, and we ended up having kind of a nasty set of conversations over whether he was abandoning me.

While in Portland, my wallet had been stolen so I had no ID or SS card. I had reported it stolen of course, but had received no response until I was leaving Arizona.

My friend in Arizona had two young sons, a husband, and a boyfriend. Now, I have some sensory issues that make it so I have a hard time being around children. High pitched noises hurt me to my bones, like, even now I have to leave the room if my son gets overly excited and starts shrieking.

I was sleeping on the couch in the living room, which was where the kids would go when they woke up and where the TVs and entertainment consoles were.

Anyway, they wanted me to contribute to the household and whatnot but I was severely depressed and I think I've provided all the context I can remember? If the rest of this doesn't make sense, please know that there was a part 1 but it came up in my Memories on a different day and i didn't think I would be rehashing it.

So I couldn't do work, couldn't do anything anyone had asked me to do to satisfaction because various things that did not, in fact, depend on me. Maybe I wasn't being enough of a ~team player~, I don't know. But anyway, I did my best with what I had. Sometimes, because of THE EXTREME FUCKING SENSORY ISSUES THAT COME WITH AUTISM, I would get overwhelmed by the kids screaming. Two little boys, barely school age, and their parents sat them in front of a TV and gave them controllers. That's it. They had toys in their room, sure, but they weren't getting outside. I suggested taking them out a couple times, but firstly, I didn't know the area and wasn't about to go out alone, and secondly, I can't split in half and I'm not in good shape, so even if I had known the area, I wouldn't have taken TWO small children outside to run around where they could run out of the designated area. I'm kind of anal that way, I guess. But Woman A (mum) and Man B ("uncle") never got off their arses to help me take them outside, and Man A was at work.

Oh, yes, parental interaction with the kids. Woman A loved her sons very much. But at their age (3 and 5), they both should have been toilet trained. They should have gotten at least two hours outside every day. They threw fits when they weren't allowed to play video games because, instead of games being a special treat that was earned with good behavior, they were toys carelessly tossed at the kids to keep them out of everyone's hair. Conversely, and bizarrely, reading to them WAS a special treat. The father woke up, played games, basically brushed off his kids, and went to work. Same when he got home for lunch, and he *ordered* us to have them in bed by the time he got home for good. The mum did somewhat interact with them, but mostly just wanted them out of her hair. I wasn't so nice because I'm not good with kids in general and also loud screeching HURTS, IT HURTS IT HURTS MAKE IT STOP. (Same with snoring, or any noise made when I want to sleep.) This isn't me being a ~diva~, it is an actual manifestation of a mental disability.

Woman A was of the opinion that "everyone who lives in a house with kids automatically becomes a coparent", maybe because she wasn't willing to actually parent her kids herself.

Note from the future: I still disagree with the idea that "anyone who lives in a house with kids is automatically a co-parent". Parent your own kids. I don't expect my dad to parent my son when we go visit him and he made it quite clear when I was pregnant that he would not take on a co-parenting role (because his wives 30-50 years ago had handled the babies and he doesn't really know how to calm them down beyond entertaining them)

She got a really bitchy look on her face whenever I (who have been around children, especially TROUBLED children, all my life) made any sort of suggestion. Well sorry, lady, but it's not like you're doing such a great job with them. Y'all act like you barely want anything to do with them. Like they're cute and little and fun to snuggle, but actually teaching them anything? Forget about it, just toss em a controller and hope they don't kill each other in the game or real life. Meanwhile, they have no outlet for their natural physical energy, no real outlet for their curiosity. They're going to grow up stupid and sedentary, with "no one paid attention to me during childhood except when it was convenient for THEM" to deal with. The older kid recently got on meds for a condition that, from what I observed, was likely much more nurture than nature. And what everyone ate, my God, those kids were the only non-overweight people in the house, and it's little wonder! I bought ACTUAL NUTRITIONAL food for everyone, and the adults look at me like I'm from some demon dimension. I made a light comment about how I'd never eaten anything like what they had growing up. You know, boxed potatoes, veggies out of a can, white bread, sugary peanut butter. And Woman A was like, "well YOU don't have kids."

Um, no, but my father did.

I have a kid now, am working part time at min. wage because my boss sees my performance as so-so (plus she's been forced to give me a raise every time the County of Where I Live raises the minimum), in a single-income household, on as much Family With Kids welfare as My County will allow, and I still wouldn't feed my kid that crap LOL

Spoiler alert: they made me use all my food stamps on their household and then kicked me out later that month so... When I bought food I bought HEALTHY food, like, I've been on food stamps my entire life... Also, WIC specifically pays for WHEAT bread, fruits & veggies, and they do let you get peanut butter without sugar so idk what was going on there with them.

My father was a SINGLE PARENT raising a daughter in America after 20 years of living in Europe and raising kids with his previous wives. Well, up until the divorces, anyway. I was the only kid he ever got to keep. He told me things about how the others had been raised compared to how I was raised, and I saw the outcomes of different parenting styles in my peers as well. My father was a very poor man whose trade had been outsourced and who struggled to support us for years. And yet, we never went hungry, and he never fed me boxed potatoes. Never fed me sugary peanut butter, white bread, or veggies out of a can.

Ok I understand canned veggies are better than no veggies, and not everyone can get fresh, but you CAN get frozen in AZ. I always had fresh or frozen growing up.

It wasn't because we were living in the lap of luxury. It's because...

HE FUCKING VALUED OUR HEALTH OVER CONVENIENT, CRAPPY, NUTRIENT-FREE FOOD!!!! This is not a difficult concept. He ALSO read to me every night, despite having what I now realise was a very grueling day at work just to put said healthy food on the table. I didn't get to watch TV or play computer games (edu-tainment, the only kind I was allowed) until after all my homework was done. I can't remember if I was a particularly active child, but I'm sure I had the OPTION!!!! TO GO OUT.

Meanwhile, when I was at various stages of my life, I met kids whose parents shunted them from guardian to guardian because they didn't want to deal with them, kids whose parents were kind and supportive but rubbish at enforcing discipline, kids whose parents were abusive in every kind of way, and kids whose parents did their best.

You know, I wasn't raised perfectly. My upbringing lacked social grace and included some toxic ideas about womanhood that I've only been learning to overcome recently in my adulthood. But DON'T FUCKING ACT LIKE I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT RAISING KIDS JUST BECAUSE I DON'T CURRENTLY HAVE ANY. I have my own life, the lives of my peers, and a wonderful online community of new parents raising children in kind and socially aware ways, to draw inspiration from. I can go to any one of them, and to my own parents, and ask "hey does X seem weird to you?" And they'll give me their honest opinion, which *is valuable*. I have even mapped out a general idea of how to get through some parts of my children's lives, and I'm not even planning to have kids for at least another few years. I mean, honestly, it used to be "I don't want kids ever", but dear gosh, if I can have any part of raising someone in a manner that defies procrastination culture, entitlement culture, and everything wrong with the way my husband and I were raised, maybe it wouldn't be a complete horror. If I can ensure that not all hope for the next generation is lost, hey.

Anyway, I've gone off topic...

I also had some issues with the men. Man B just didn't seem to like anything ever. I had no idea what Woman A saw in him. I remember one time he tried to tell me, a Christian, that I can't tell people what a "real Christian" is because it ~invalidates their identity~. Excuse me, no. It doesn't work that way. There are things that Christ taught, and anyone who blatantly goes against them IN THE NAME OF CHRISTIANITY, IS NOT A REAL CHRISTIAN. And yes, I realise this entire rant has been very judgey and technically I'm not supposed to do that either, but it's not like I'm saying they're going to Hell. Just that their kids are going to be sluggish and stupid, and I can't understand how these people have the gumption to try to lecture anyone else about life when they're not even TRYING to get their own lives together.

Yeah so they tried to lecture me about how I was "letting" Loki mistreat me and how I cared more about "socializing" with my estranged husband (I have separation anxiety) than helping around the house e_e They also implied I used depression as an excuse to be lazy.

Man B was supposedly "super employable." Well, okay, even though his "job hunt" seemed to consist more of sitting around playing video games, he was larger than my father (who is 6 ft tall with a protruding gut and weighs 240 lbs at last count) (My father and I are both 60 lbs above our ideal weights. But we're working on it!), and never seemed to get past the phone-screening process.

Now, Woman A told me that Man B was looking for work and that her family and some friends looked down on him for being a freeloader. Probably because she was anxious about me thinking the same. But here's the thing: I wouldn't have cared. Honestly. If you want to sit around playing games all day in your married girlfriend's apartment with her and her husband playing video games all day, go right ahead. If you want to bake three potatoes at a time and take them back to your room for a snack, hey, more power to you. But don't piss out the window and call it rain.

I don't care how employable you are, where you live, who you're living with, or what your lifestyle is like. It doesn't affect me in any way. But don't act like you're doing something you're not just to appease someone's judgmental family. That doesn't ever end well.

Now, see, I clearly have a problem with people who do that. I don't hide many aspects of myself, though I will refuse to answer a question if I feel it's none of someone's business or if they're just asking it to be a judgmental asshole. I refuse to compromise myself or my safe space to accommodate someone who can't make peace with who they are. Hell, you know me! You know my show!

Wait, this is Tumblr, so you might not know my show. It's a YouTube storyboard dedicated to processing and mocking some spiritual and psychological abuse I've undergone in my life. On Facebook, it was one of the things I was known for at the time because I was constantly posting clips and art, and trying to recruit voice actors.

I sell anyone out who I catch lying to me about anything! That's nothing new! And these people knew that about me. For SEVEN. FUCKING. YEARS.

So anyway. Woman A has a lot of great short term goals but no actual follow through because "I'm just not in the mood right now." No judgment there. I've totally been there. The only problem is when it gets ME in trouble.

"Let's walk the dog." "I'm not in the mood." Okay, then the dog doesn't get walked because I can't figure out my way around the place alone.

"Let's do the dishes." Woman A doesn't let me know when the washer stopped. Okay. Then the rest of the dishes don't get washed.

"Let's take the kids outside." "No I'm too tired." Okay, then they're going to be RUNNING AROUND THE APARTMENT SCREAMING WHICH MY EARS CANNOT FUCKING HANDLE so bye I'm just gonna borrow your room and isolate myself for a bit.

"Let's go to the gym!" "Maybe later." But later never comes.

Do you see where I'm going here? As for the men, they BOTH complain that they're "doing too much" around the house. Okay, probably fair for Man A, who works full time and deserves to come home to a clean house. But Man B. Wtf. You literally do nothing, except when you do, and when you do, we're meant to throw you a parade? That's not how adulthood works, or so I've heard.

Note: All three of these people are older than me. I was 24? at the time, fresh out of trade school, on my own for the first time in my life. (Maybe 2nd? I ran away when I was 17 but ended up with my grandparents so idk if that counts.) Woman A was 26 at the time and had been married since 2008, had experience with office work and parenthood, etc. Both men were older than her. I was a chronological adult with the life experience of a teenager, so I felt comfortable saying that.

So did I mention that I'm sleeping in the living room during this stay? And the adults don't go to bed until like 2 AM, which means, because of my disability, wherein I cannot sleep if there's any sort of non-ambient noise, *I* don't get to sleep until AFTER 2 AM. And the kids? They come in the living room screaming at 6 AM. Yep. Okay. Living on 4 hours of sleep, for the mathematically challenged. That and dealing with the emotional turmoil of being separated from my husband when I've got high separation anxiety in the first place. All my pain, everything, it's up to 11. and I'm supposed to contribute but there's not really anything that allows me to contribute.

So what do they do? They ambush me. Call a "family meeting" to tell me absolutely everything that's wrong with me, after WEEKS of telling me what a big help I am and how grateful they are to have me around. Tell me I'm letting my "social life" get in the way of me helping around the house. Hmm. Social life. You mean, VENTING IN MY SAFE SPACE (Facebook, no names named) AND TRYING TO MEND THINGS WITH MY HUSBAND??????????????? Okay. Well since you guys treat your woman like shit, you clearly don't understand or appreciate devotion to one's spouse. Seriously. Woman A told me she used to have extreme separation anxiety with Man A, and that he would brush off her emotions as irrelevant. Her solution was to make it a poly relationship and take a lover WHO TREATS HER THE EXACT SAME WAY. I'm serious. She got no emotional support from either of them. They basically just threw pills at her and trained her to lie down until her feelings went away.

And she had the gall to lecture me (24 at the time) about how Loki (19 at the time & from a pretty horrific family) treated me. LOL ok. Log. Splinter.

As she knew, I'm monogamous. I do have some opinions on polyamoury based on individuals I've gotten to know who are in those types of relationships, but those opinions are irrelevant to this series of rants. Except one, which is pertinent: if you're going to take another lover, they should provide something that your existing lover(s) don't. If you're suffering from low emotional support and you just find someone else who doesn't emotionally support you and who treats you like a child who can't be trusted??? What are you even DOING? Like, she told me NEITHER of her men trust her judgment. What the fuck is a relationship without trust? And don't even try "dick too bomb" as an excuse when you tell me you haven't gotten laid in months and your husband is using your condoms on Woman B.

They don't support you. They don't trust you. And yet YOU'RE telling ME that things with my husband won't get better unless I follow your lead and take another lover? HELL TO THE NO. My husband has his faults, but if I tell him Person X can be trusted, he believes me.

Except for his ex-girlfriend whom he tried to add to our relationship when he tried to be poly, months later. That went Badly.

Or maybe he just knows I'll deal with them myself, with my hot, hot temper, if they turn out not to be trustworthy. He also doesn't treat me LIKE A CHILD. Okay, being a dick about losing words due to stress was not my finest moment, but at the time, I was just so appalled by how they treated her and how she allowed them to treat me.

So basically these adults who are nowhere near having their lives together, and aren't even really trying, put me on blast for not having everything running perfectly when THEY expected it to.

Let's reiterate. I couldn't get a job because I had no ID or social security card. I was waiting for them to be returned to me. I couldn't walk the kids or the dog, go to the gym, or complete all the household chores because no one would guide me. I need that guidance because of various components of my disability, which I really hate admitting to because I'm super fucking prideful, but I figured hey, she's not neurotypical either. These people will understand.

Their response when I brought this up? "You're an adult. You should know better." Sure, okay. But you should know that a child ought to be potty trained before he turns 5, or even 3; that kids need to run around, are entitled to their parents' attention and consistent discipline, and need!!! healthy!!!! food!!!!

Oh, discipline! So, she would send Older Boy to his room over misbehaving. But rather than enforce time-out, she'd go, "oh, I think I'm being too haaaard on him," and just... Relinquish. He's not about to learn anything that way, ma'am.

They called me trying to reconnect with the person I love more than almost anyone on this earth "obsessing over your social life". Well again, you treat your woman like shit, so MAYBE my undying devotion to the person I love goes a LITTLE bit over your head.

They told me that the household should be my first priority. Except no, because I am an autonomous person and my FIRST PRIORITY is, was, and ever has been the love of my life, whomever that may be at the time. That is 70% of my personality. I'm pretty sure anyone who had ever met me can vouch for my extreme devotion, and this woman had known me for SEVEN. YEARS. I'm not going to throw away 70% of myself to do an impossible task that no one will help me with.

They told me a lot of things I wasn't doing right, and for those of you who also struggle with anxiety and depression, you know that being told for weeks that everything is okay and you're so great and so helpful, and then being told that you're rubbish at everything... You know that that is hurtful. Devastating, even. I wanted to kill myself. I said that. I said that and expressed my feelings about some other things, in my safe space, without naming any names.

And even though I was posting in my safe space, I was polite about it. I was as gentle and rational as possible. I wasn't calling anyone out. Not like I am now. I wasn't trying to lead a witch hunt. I was just overwhelmed and trying to express my feelings. Trying to get myself not to kill myself. I had to tell myself over and over again that it's not what Loki would want for me.

In the morning, they woke me up and kicked me out. Said it was rude for me to say I don't care about their household. I never, NEVER said that. I said "Loki is my first priority." Something along the lines of "that's just how I am and I shouldn't be vilified for it." That doesn't mean I DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE. IT JUST MEANS THAT MY PRIORITIES WILL *NEVER* BE WHAT SOMEONE ELSE WANTS THEM TO BE. I AM A PERSON. I HAVE THE RIGHT TO DECIDE WHAT TO PRIORITISE, AND I HAVE THE RIGHT TO LOVE MY HUSBAND!!!

They kicked me out after having asked me to buy them all food. I had used up all my food stamps. Because I hadn't anticipated this at all. I hadn't known they would take such offence to my existence, to my ways. To the fact that I value the man I married more than I value... Whatever they wanted me to value, I guess.

Fun fact: I ended up in a women's shelter after this, and one woman told me to actually kill myself because she was tired of hearing me cry at night.

They said I hadn't made any effort to get my life on track. Because I can just snap my fingers and make my ID appear. Because I can just manifest the money for a replacement. They said all these things that left me almost unable to breathe, in retaliation for me posting that I was suicidal.

Later, Woman A told me that this had been a long time coming and that they were trying to make room for Woman B and Woman C, both of whom were willing to have sex with the men, which is something that I would not. I feel the first woman I met at the shelter was accurate when she said they basically kicked me out because I wouldn't sleep with them.

I also later found out that my ID and SS card had been returned to sender. The Portland PD called me and told me. So my father came to the conclusion that the people I had been staying with sabotaged me from the start. For a while, I didn't feel it, but last night I dreamed about it, and the dream made me angry. I didn't deserve to be treated that way. And I really had to get all this off my chest, so for those of you who didn't immediately whip out your tiny violins, thank you.

First day of school, DandDOC took Prince George and Princess Charlotte to school, he returning, for her, it was her very first day. (lol jk, but like i have Feelings(tm) about my sexuality and everything & figure this is the best time and place to do it...)

So I figured out I was bisexual a little over 5 years ago, after discovering it was a legitimate thing I could call myself whilst being on tumblr (2014 was a big time for lgbt discourse, especially in terms of the various terms and labels, most of which I hadn’t been familiar with...)... but tbh, I’d been trying to come to terms with who I was in terms of my sexuality for a long time

I grew up in a religious house (my parents were jehovah’s witnesses), but I never really remember anything vaguely homophobic being thrown around? And even if it did exist, I wouldn’t have been aware of it since I never had any question or doubt in my mind about the fact I was attracted to boys (I’d had a rly intense crush on this one boy for about 5 years through primary and secondary school... I still sometimes see his pics on facebook & u know what? I still would lol anyway...) my early days in school were mostly taken up by trying to get friends not be a total recluse (I’ve always had trouble making friends and connecting to people it’s no biggie it’ ss fineee........ ok carry on>>)

So going into secondary school I never felt that I was anything other than straight? But one thing I vividly remember was the way people in my year treated girls that were suspected to be gay... in short? they were seen as ‘dirty’... it was something perverted, and highly sexualised... (as in: being a lesbian meant masturbating a lot... (i mean: this says something about wider misogyny & demonising of female pleasure but like.. another time, another time) & also making out loads with other girls)... like no one ever came up and said ‘being gay is wrong’, but whenever rumours spread about a girl being suspected as gay and they didn’t deny them, people would suddenly start whispering about them... & it’s super strange to me that this was the same culture that if two female friends were really close and got labelled as gay, but came out and were like ‘oh no we’re straight ha ha we just kiss at parties and touch each others boobs’ or whatever, people would be completely ok with it?

So I never really gave myself the opportunity to go into this... I was never comfortable enough to be super ‘close’ to any of my female friends (intimacy issues: we don’t have to to get into all THAT right now though lol ahahaha....ha...) & I knew I wasn’t so called ‘skanky’ like all the girls who were labelled as being actually gay...

& this was all happening as I found myself actually being interested in looking at girls... (like what can I say? boobs are friggin nice to look at lol...) But i always saw it as innocent intrigue, since I was only 11/12 at the time so hadn’t grown into my own at the time... and the fact I felt more comfortable being touched by or talking to or like literally doing anything with girls? it’s just cos boys are gross there’s no other reason behind it!!.... right?

I think a big thing is that a lot of girls are so open with each other... like they’ll compliment each other’s boobs or asses, or comment on how pretty they are or their makeup skills or whatever.. you’ll be hard pressed to find a girl that goes all ‘no homo’ on her friend except.... I feel like that was me lol? I remember getting compliments from other girls about my appearance (didn’t happen often though pffft) or anything really and feeling all mushy inside, and giving the compliments back felt like a big deal to me? idk I suppose all the warning signs were there that hidden under layers of introverted awkwardness was a lil bi demon just waiting to come out lol!

So yadyyada, 2014 happens and I finally realise I’m bi... I just remember reading something on here about bisexuality and being like ‘oh damn yeh... dat me??’... like it felt amazing to be able to finally accept that I actually like girls too?? & one of the first people I told was this guy I became friends with when I first went to college... & he told me he was also bi and I remember thinking ‘wow!!!!! so it’s actually real?! it’s not just something you see on tumblr from random strangers, it’s an actual thing people I know irl experience wowwowowow’... I also came out to another online friend who I was close to, and it felt really amazing... but I could never translate that into actually coming out in real life (not to mention life was kinda shit at this time and I had like 0 friends but hEY, that’s not for now kiddos lol)...

So yeh, I’ve never actually come out to anyone... not properly anyway... I’ve always been very open about my sexuality online, but in real life I’ve never really discussed it with ... anyone? & it’s not because I’m ashamed in anyway, and it’s not even as if I’m that scared I just... I’ve never felt the need to? But after seeing Dan’s video, plus it’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently, this is something I really wanna do... see; I was so ready to live life just being ‘straight until I maybe get a girlfriend one day’, so ready to only tell people if they ask me but I just realised... isn’t that partly living a lie? who I’m with doesn’t change my sexuality, so why is it something I’m seemingly so scared of declaring to the world??

I vividly have this memory, before I realised I was bi, and I have no idea of why or when or any of the details, but me and my mum were watching something, and bisexuality was mentioned, and either my mum agreed with, or she said something along the lines of ‘bisexuals are more likely to cheat’, and that’s really stuck with me.... it’s something that’s always nagging in the back of my mind, and it... really fucking hurts lol... I know for a fact my mum will love my regardless of who I end up sleeping with or whatever, she may be pretty conservative in her mindset of things but she’s always willing to be open minded which I really love about her... but knowing this inbuilt stereotype of bisexuality is something she both acknowledges and somewhat agrees with is really... sad...

I’m 21 years old, I’ve been in one relationship in my life which only last a few months and involved no kissing and only occasional hand holding because I was too terrified to do any more (again: subject for aNOTHER day lol), and I know for a goddamn FACT that my sexuality would never make me more likely to be unfaithful to someone I claim to love...I really hate that this is associated with the label, but it’s something I know that I am... why on earth would I change that or try to be something else when I know that /this/ is me!

I think one of the biggest things putting me off ‘coming out’ is having to explain yourself... like dan howell made a 45 minute long video discussing his own sexuality and experiences cos he knew people wouldn’t just accept it if he just tweeted ‘yo dawgs imma queer lol #swag’ one day, and it feels kinda annoying that queer people/lgbtq+ people feel like we can’t just...... be ourselves without having to justify or explain it?! (even me making this post is solidifying that factor lol... it’s a mess lol)... like I just wanna live my life being bi, is that so much to ask for lol?

I am so so SO grateful we have so much more bi, and lgbtq+ in general, representation in media these days.... it’s goddamn beautiful to see our stories, and the stories of our community being told and cherished by millions, and that’s really gotta be something to rejoice in this pride month!!!

(side note: dan also talks about gender identity & I have literally never related to anything more lol... like 90% of the time I don’t feel like what people classify as ‘womanly’ things... but also I am a woman? idk man lol just call me a formless blob or whatever it was he said lol as a baby no one really knew if I was a girl or boy since my mum mainly dressed me in yellow & I had like 2 strands of hairs on my head lol... damn I miss those days lol)

Title: Of Delirium and Dandelions Word Count: 1k Chapter Summary: In which a wish is made a̶n̶d̶ ̶a̶ ̶g̶a̶m̶e̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶y̶e̶d̶. No -- this is not a game. General Summary: Ah -- what a shame. Patton's gotten his new apron dirty, and dried bloodstains are just so difficult to wash out, you see. Warnings: The SS Horror Family AU deals with both psychological and physical horror aspects; I will do my best to list all the triggers for each chapter, but it's very possible that I may forget one, considering how graphic this story is going to get -- which means that if you are generally a sensitive reader, this is not the story for you. Please, please, please take care of yourselves. This story will contain physical and mental abuse, blackmail, blood and gore, body horror, antidepressant overdosing, insanity/hysteria, manipulation, knives, scars, mouth sewing, panic attacks, lots of tears, what could be interpreted as sympathetic Deceit, torture, and excessive violence. This chapter will contain mentions of blood and kinda-subtle insanity. (Since it's only the prologue, this chapter is a lot shorter and more docile than future chapters will be.)

A young boy plucks a dandelion from the ground. It’s the best one he’s seen all day — perfectly round and brilliantly white and so, so fluffy. He laughs a happy, twinkling sort of laugh and purses his lips to blow.

“Wait!” shouts his friend, bounding up behind him. “You gotta make a wish first. That’s the rule!”

“Oh, okay,” replies the young boy, a little sheepish. “I wish… I wish to… to…” What was that thing that his teacher had said yesterday? It had sounded really wise and smart. “I wish to always listen to my heart!” There, that was it. He’s not exactly sure what it means, but it sounds cool. Satisfied, he takes a big breath in and he blows as hard as he can.

The dandelion seeds explode from the stem and go skipping about, carried on the wind. They look like the little ashes that fly out of a campfire pit whenever his father drops a new piece of firewood onto the pile — dancing around in the breeze as if they are alive. The boy watches them soar with a smile on his face. He catches a seed in his little fist.

When he opens his hand again, the seed is gone.

xxx 20 YEARS LATER xxx

Logan had been the first one to notice that something about Patton seemed to be a little bit… different. The changes were infinitesimal and spread out over time, but Logan’s observant eyes never did miss much, and so when Patton began to talk less and smile more, Logan noticed. When Patton would spend days at a time hidden away in his room, Logan noticed. When Patton began to eat less, Logan noticed. When a subtle pain crept into Patton’s eyes and didn’t go away, Logan noticed.

Logan noticed, but he did not say anything to any of the other Sides until it was far, far too late. That was Logan’s first mistake.

So you see, it was really all Logan’s fault.

It had been Virgil who had taken it all a step too far. He should have realized that his sarcastic comments lately had crossed some kind of line and were offending Roman more than usual. Of course, Logan noticed. Patton noticed. Roman noticed. All of them saw when Roman was showing up to videos with his hair messy, his sash uneven, his crown askew, and a shorter temper than ever.

But Virgil didn’t notice, or perhaps he noticed but didn’t care enough to stop. That was Virgil’s first mistake.

So you see, it was really all Virgil’s fault.

If anyone could have made more of an effort, it was Roman. He got upset over the smallest of things in the days leading up to what happened, and he just kept expecting someone to resolve his problems for him. He could have spoken up; he could have just told Virgil to stop, to back off, to be a little kinder. But he said nothing and allowed the others to see his misery. He just wanted someone else to help him deal with the heartache he was going through. He wanted to know that the others cared about him. He wanted to be told that he was important, for once in his life.

No one spoke up. He continued to hold to his hope, telling himself over and over again that someone would offer to help. That was Roman’s first mistake.

So you see, it was really all Roman’s fault.

Whoever’s fault it was, it wasn’t Patton’s. That much was for sure. Patton did the right thing. Patton kept his family together. He helped Logan learn that it was okay to let other people know what he was feeling. He made sure that Virgil would never frown or say anything hurtful again. He guaranteed Roman’s permanent happiness. Or, at least, absence of sadness, which is more or less the same thing, right? Patton saved his broken family. He helped them. He brought them back together, and now they wouldn’t ever separate again. He was quite certain of that.

All that it took was a tiny bit of bloodshed. Just a few drops; and the brand-new ruby red pearls that now decorated the mindscape were so beautiful, after all.

Yes, Patton did the right thing. It didn’t matter what the other Sides thought. They simply didn’t have a strong enough grasp on what was best for Thomas. In time, they would come to understand his decision had been for the greater good. They had to. Thomas himself had said it, all those many years ago; always listen to the heart.

The pendant around his neck bounced up and down as he walked. Contained within it was a single dandelion seed. It was a lovely necklace; he’d found it while he was going through some of the more cluttered parts of his room, so many weeks ago. He didn’t remember it from Thomas’s childhood, but perhaps it had just been forgotten by everyone — until now.

After he put it on, he felt a little dizzy for a couple minutes and had to lie down. Perhaps he had passed out at one point. He wasn’t entirely sure.

But after the dizziness passed, a wonderful clarity came to him. He suddenly understood so much more. He’d spent so long being moral, being kind and loving and true and good and just and… and… and he was tired. Tired of Morality. Tired of who he was. Tired of being tired.

This wasn’t who he was meant to be. He was meant to make Thomas happy, not to make Thomas force himself to constantly be “the nice one”. The one who always had to bend over backwards to accommodate others. The loser — the geek — the whatever.

Thomas deserved a break. It was finally his turn to be happy! The other Sides were holding him back; they didn’t realize it, but they were destroying him from the inside out. Roman and Virgil were always fighting, Logan pretended that he didn’t have any feelings whatsoever. They were such a sad family, and it absolutely broke Patton’s heart to see the problems that plagued them, day in and day out. He had to help. He had to do something.

So Patton took responsibility. Thomas would be happy now. He’d be ecstatic, blissful, rapturous, euphoric…

He’d be delirious.

Short story 03: Mannequin

This is one of my oldest stories, written almost 3 years ago. Unlike my others, this isn’t fantasy. Just give it a read and lemme know what you think!

I ran for my life. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, my whole body screaming in urgency. I glanced over my shoulder and yes, he was still in focused pursuit, his serrated blade glinting in the twilight, his intense red eyes glaring at me vindictively.

Didn’t make any sense, did I? Let me start from the beginning. My name is Sheena. I’m doing my arts degree at Higgin’s University. I live alone, which led to me working part-time at a retail store. Between college and all the night shifts, I have almost no time for anything else. A pretty boring life. Not many friends either, just Amanda, who used to be my neighbour.

This morning, on my way to painting class, I caught sight of Ethan, a member of the football team. Highschool heartthrob with a goofy grin that could make anyone weak in the knees. Bright blue eyes and messy brown hair were added bonuses.

I got irritated every time I saw him. For one, seeing him made my feet unsteady. Also, I got a gurgling in my stomach which felt like puking, but a lot more pleasant, know what I mean? I think I might’ve had a crush on him, along with almost every other girl at Higgin’s.

In class, I sat next to a girl named May, pulled out my paints and brush, and regarded the gramophone, the day’s muse. It was nice and quirky looking, just the way I liked it, and soon, I was lost in the deft strokes of my brush. I didn’t even have an inkling of the fact that things were gonna get really interesting during the break.

Amanda had a different schedule, so I sat alone at the cafeteria, biting away at my sandwich in silence. Someone sat in front of me, and I almost spewed out my half-chewed sandwich when I realised it was Ethan.

“Hi,” He said uncertainly. “I hope I’m not bothering you?”

“No!” I squeaked, and tried again, trying to regain my composure. “Not at all. It would honestly be an immense pleasure to share this table with you.” I blabbed like a machine-gun firing.

He stared at me, eyes wide, and burst out laughing. Oh God, his laugh was cute. I wanted to take a video and watch it 25 hours a day. Creepy, right? Sorry.

“Well, I’m glad to hear that!” He took a swig of juice from his glass, and looked at me slightly… hesitant? “Uh, this is gonna sound weird, but I’ve never been good at roundabout talk… Can we, uh, grab a snack together after college?”

My jaw dropped.

“Rrghsblbeygygd..ss.. WHAT?!” I managed, slamming the sandwich onto my tray. My cheeks were steaming.

“Your reaction is making me embarrassed too,” He laughed. “I’ve been noticing you a lot lately, and I think I might have a crush on you.” He said, flashing me his gorgeous goofy grin.

I almost fainted.

“This is a dare, right? A lost bet?” I looked around for anybody watching or snickering. “A prank?”

Ethan actually looked hurt, and his sad face sent me spiralling. “I’m… serious. I guess that means it’s a no? It’s fine, sorry, haha.”

“NO!” I said, a bit too loudly, and a few heads turned towards us, wondering what the commotion was. “I’m sorry, I’m not at all used to… this… I’d love to go out with you!” I blushed furiously at my mistake. “Oh shit, I meant go out as in, go out for a snack, not go out as in go out, I mean, oh hell, what do I mean?!”

He burst out laughing again, which warmed me right till my feet.

“Cool then, let’s meet at the front gate, as soon as college ends! See ya!” He walked away.

I just sat there dazed, till my eyes focused, revealing the clock.

“Oh, freaking hell!” I ran back to class, late by five minutes for the first time in my life.

The rest of the classes went by in a blur. Art history, clay modelling, digital art class, and finally, sketching.

After class, I took a heck of a long time in the washroom, washing my face as brutally as possible, making sure it was squeaky clean. As soon as the evening bell rang, I dashed straight to the gate, and stood there like a guard, at complete attention. My stomach fluttered as if I’d eaten rubber balls for lunch, all of which were bouncing off its walls.

I was terrified. What if he never came? What if this was all part of an elaborate plan? What if Ethan thinks he made a mistake? What if I creep him out? What if he finds out I watch cult practices and satanic rituals on Youtube? Oh hell no.

All those thoughts imploded as soon as I saw him jogging towards me, smiling and waving. Who gave God the right to make someone so… perfect?

“Shall we?” He gestured. I just nodded frantically, not trusting myself to talk.

All along the way, Ethan kept trying to initiate some conversation, but kept failing. He gave up after a while, steering the conversation to me. “Okay. Sheena, tell me something about you!”

“We-well, I uh, like art? And I read a lot of books?” I managed to stammer. “I also, um, work part-time at the retail store. Th-those are perhaps the only interesting things about my life.”

“Oh, part time job? Got your future all planned out already?” He asked, clearly impressed.

“That-It’s not-I just… I just don’t live with my parents, so…” I trailed off. Oh shit. I shouldn’t have said that.

“Oh, you live by yourself? Cool, so do I!” came the reply.

I sighed with relief. Really dodged a bullet with that one.

Ah, the café. We had finally reached.

“Table for two?” A waiter asked us, to which Ethan nodded yes. Never in my life had I imagined this particular scenario happening to ME, of all people.

I ordered a blueberry cheesecake, while he went for a chocolate sundae.

We chatted all the while, by which I mean I nodded or shook my head to all the questions he asked me. I did manage to avoid talking about human sacrifices or blood rituals, so that was a plus.

After the meal, Ethan said “So, I guess this is it? I did enjoy myself, and I’d love to um, ‘go out’ with you again,” He said, half-grinning.

I blushed furiously and replied with a squeaky “Sure, I’d love to!” and watched him walk away.

I jogged all the way home with a new bounce in my step, rested for about an hour, and then left for the store.

The owner was Ms Kat (short for Katherine), a chirpy, amiable woman who got along really well with just about anybody. The workers all loved her as she made sure none of us, part-time or full-time, were ever uncomfortable. She was getting ready to leave just as I entered.

“Hi Sheena! You look bright today. What up?”

“Nothing much, Ms Kat, just been a great day!” I replied, as I put on my red work apron and tied it round my back.

“Ah, I get what you mean.” She nodded knowingly. “Also, could you handle the store alone today? Nathan called in sick, and Pam is still on her vacation. I’d stay if I could, but I have some really important work to do…”

“Yeah, sure. I’ll take care.” I smiled.

“Cool! Today’s been a slow day, so I doubt you’ll have much to do. Anyway, you can help yourself to the burgers I got you!”

Ms Kat was also adamant that none of the workers ever went hungry. Every day she would bring burgers, donuts, or even the occasional pizza. Makes it awesome to work there.

She was right, it was a slow day. Half an hour passed by, with only three customers. A granny who bought earbuds, a couple who bought a lot, and a teenaged guy who bought a pack of doritos.

After that, it was pretty uneventful. I wolfed down my burger and cleaned the place up a bit, restocked a few shelves, called in for the delivery of milk cans, that sort of thing.

I almost dozed off at the register when two more people entered. An old man hobbling around with a stick, and a guy? He was covered from head to toe. Hoodie, jeans, boots, and gloves covered his body, and a surgical mask and coolers covered his face. All I could see was his forehead, which was pale.

The old man hobbled over to the meds section, browsing through the ointments. I went over and asked him what he was looking for, all the while keeping an eye on the hooded guy, who was looking through biscuits. Hopefully he wouldn’t steal anything.

“I’m looking for an ointment for foot blisters, dear.” The old man said.

“Ah, anything with petroleum jelly would work for that.” I found it, walked with him to the register, and checked it out. He paid and walked to the door.

The hooded guy turned towards the old man, and something about his posture sent a chill through me.

Without warning, he dashed towards the old man and I yelled “Look out!” and ran towards them.

The poor man had barely enough time to turn around, before the hooded guy revealed an uncomfortably serrated butcher knife, and swung it through his neck, cutting his head clean off!

The old man’s body crumpled to the floor. The head bounced once before rolling to a stop at my feet, its eyes gazing right at me in pure fear.

I puked.

I mean, literally. I vomited right on the display, splattering liquid burger on candy and cigarettes.

That was the least of my worries, though. The hooded guy gazed at me through his shades. “Shhh.” He motioned with his fingers. He dug through his pockets and pulled out a red-lidded jar, filled with some weird translucent liquid. It was followed by a sinister looking instrument with 3 flat hooks on a circular base.

I stared terrified, tears streaming down my face as he grabbed the head. He stabbed the instrument right into the old man’s eye, and I screamed in horror. He pulled it out, and I could freaking see the eyeball coming out of its socket, along with a long sinewy strand of nerve, which the guy snapped with his gloved hand.

My eyes rolled up in my head at the sound. “Urrgh,” I groaned, as another wave of nausea rolled over me. The guy extracted the other eye in the same way and put them both into the jar. He stood, walked a bit, then turned and kicked the head. Hard. The bleeding head flew above the shelves, landing right into the fresh meat section. He burst out laughing and disappeared out of the store.

The laugh was oddly similar to Ethan’s, but way more high-pitched. I pushed those thoughts out of my head, and hurriedly began packing all my things. I had to get out fast and bring the matter to the police. I got the disc from the security cams, rushed out, closed and locked the shutters, and took off.

I turned round the corner and found myself staring at the killer, his face barely inches from mine. I let out a sharp gasp, pushing him away. He stumbled, his hood and shades falling off.

It was Ethan.

It was Ethan, but his eyes were an intense, fiery red. Otherwise, right from his brown hair to the rest of his face, he was Ethan.

I sobbed in confusion and ran. Ethan followed. I’m not athletic and I tire easily, but I had to keep running, or I’d die.

I ran, swerving into random streets, not knowing where I was going, but no matter where I turned, Ethan was always right behind me, no sign of exhaustion.

I collided with someone, and we both fell to the ground. ‘This is how it ends,’ I thought. ‘Slaughtered while assaulting random citizen.’

I braced myself for the impact of cold steel through the back of my neck, but none came.

“Sheena?” I heard someone.

I opened my eyes and found myself in a very unflattering position right on top of Ethan. Blue eyes! Different clothes! Regular Ethan! Thoroughly embarrassed, I pulled myself away and apologized.

“Don’t worry, I was just caught by surprise, that’s all” He laughed. “Damn, you’ve got a nice tackle.”

“Ethan, help. There’s a murderer looking for me.”

“Wait, what?”

I told him pieces of the story, and he listened with rapt attention.

“Oh my God,” he exclaimed when I finished. “My house is just two buildings from here. Come inside, you’ll be safe.”

On any other day I would’ve refused, even flat-out rejected the idea. In my current predicament though, that was the best option.

He led me inside and showed me to the living room. I stood around awkwardly for a while, and then asked him “Hey, can I borrow your phone? I need to call the police.”

“Yeah, sure. My phone’s upstairs. I’ll get it for you.” He ran up the stairs.

I sat on the sofa, twiddling my thumbs. This was an individual house, and Ethan lived alone. It wasn’t luxurious, but still, should be expensive, especially for someone who didn’t even have a part-time job.

I waited for slightly over five minutes. “Ethan? Everything okay up there?” I called out. No reply. I slowly climbed up the stairway. “Ethan?” I looked around hesitantly and discovered that there was only one room in the whole floor. I took a deep breath and pushed the door open.

My eyes popped open in fright. The whole room was cluttered with body parts! I gagged for a short while before realizing that they were fake, probably plastic or rubber. I breathed a sigh of relief. Maybe Ethan was an artist too? I walked further inside, turned around the corner, and gasped.

About three dozen completed mannequins, both male and female, glared right back at me. They were severely creepy to look at. It didn’t help that all of them were naked and, ah, had very detailed anatomy.

My eyes fell on a jar. A red-lidded jar filled with translucent liquid. Now empty.

“Oh Sheena, you should’ve waited downstairs.”

My head jerked back and I saw Ethan standing behind me. One of his eyes was red, and his hand held a contact lens case.

He was grinning, but it wasn’t goofy or charming. It was downright horrifying. The serrated butcher knife in his other hand dripping blood on the floor didn’t exactly help me calm down.

“You-You-” I stuttered, whipping my eyes back and forth for a way to escape, not very successfully.

Without uttering a word, he dashed forward and caught my hands in a lock, dropping the lens case and the knife in the process. I struggled to escape, kicking at him. My weak kicks didn’t seem to faze him, and he stood there receiving them, grinning all the way. Without warning, he grabbed the front of my shirt and ripped it off my body.

I quickly tried to cover my chest, but he used that to his advantage and knocked my head into the wall. Hard.

I was dizzy. Everything looked blurry and there was a buzzing in my ears. I could feel Ethan diligently stripping off the rest of my clothes, my mind screaming at my body to stop him.

My sluggish arms and legs refused to move. The bastard hoisted my naked body onto his shoulders and carried me to the end of the room, to what looked like some kind of tub, filled with a hot, bubbling liquid.

He dropped me in.

It was scalding hot! I thrashed my now-active limbs in pain, as the heat seared through me. It was boiling wax! I tried to scream, but my mouth was muffled by the wax filling it. I lost my hearing, my sight, and my breath as the wax plugged everything shut. The only thing I felt was the pain.

When I couldn’t hold my breath any longer, and my mind almost blanked out, I finally realized why the mannequins seemed so lifelike.

Also, it seemed like I was gonna join his collection of wax figures. Permanently.

“Phew.” I wiped my brow. She took quite a bit of work to get ready. She still struggled, long after she became solid. Impressive. I bent a few limbs, arched her back, assembling her into a crouching pose, like a woman getting ready to run.

I smiled at the jar beneath her. Her lovely green eyes stared back at me, bobbing up and down, emotionless.

I stepped back and admired my work. Sheena was already a work of art, but now she was a masterpiece!

Hello! My name is Ethan. My hobbies are football and mannequin collecting. Nice to meet you! Maybe we can grab a snack together sometime?

Yeah, this was a much longer story than my previous ones. I don’t know how I feel about this. (too much PUKING oh my God) On one hand, I’m proud of it because romance and reality are both uncharted territory for me, and on the other, I don’t know how well they are represented. LA ESSENTIALS - AMIRI SS 2019

I’ve not really been very familiar with the AMIRI brand, even if I’ve seen some of their pieces in stores and even own one of their perfect black swim shorts, copped year ago, so I was intrigued to see the show when I’ve got my invite from DLX guys for the brand’s SS 2019 runway.

What would you expect from the brand designer of which is LA born, Hollywood & then Beverly Hills-grown man – yes, you are right, all those associations that just came in your mind are correct and what’s important, they are well-made. Brand showcased 32 looks in a co-ed show on 23rd of June, during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, it was their second ever runway presentation (brand was established in 2014).

The collection was an ultimate ode to the hometown of designer Mike Amiri - variety of biker jackets, the flannels wrapped on a waists on top of a mini leather skirts, sweatpants paired with anything including camouflage shorts worn on top, silk short-sleeve Hawaiians, sweatshirts, distressed and embellished denims, asymmetric chiffon dresses, well-played colorful leopard and zebra prints – I mean, all things rock’n’roll, grunge and absolutely LA. As usual with the aesthetic, there were quite a few vintage inspired silhouettes that were mostly made in LA ateliers and not abroad, in cheaper production factories, which is quite rare these days - all that obviously puts even more hometown spirit to the garments.

Mike Amiri: “It’s more of a mix of cultures, growing up in Hollywood and then my parents moving me to Beverly Hills to keep me out of trouble. I got to see the separation between the Hollywood kids I used to hang out with and then this Beverly Hills kid.” The show was very dynamic with right casting (including some very skinny and colorful-haired boys and girls) and ear-grabbing music, taking place in the basement of Palas de Challiot and all of that really made me lust for LA, where I’ve never been so far.

Little about the business side of AMIRI – Brand has shown rapid growth in just 3 years time, with 40$ mln projected sales this year (where menswear still takes around 70-75% with the rest being 1-year old womenswear offering), it has been declared as one of the fastest growing menswear brands by many major retailers. Even if the rock’n’roll music is is not really happening at the moment, visual aesthetic associated with the particular genre is still strong. We all know how much influence Hedi Slimane and his Saint Laurent had on a comeback and a growth of “grunge” market. I guess, Mike Amiri found a right time to launch his namesake brand and establish it in this niche (but widespread) category . Rising number of celebrity fans also does not hurt sales and after seeing 1000$ jeans on Lenny Kravitz , Steven Tyler and well Justin Beieber, they just fly off from the stores.

The people didn’t claim the US dollar. So this U.S. dollar teather is still in existence with the big compress going down. So we have right now massive, massive leverage going on for Bitcoin and we saw that a couple of days ago. And of course, the techniques are not perfect here right now. Even on the lower timeframes, we are seeing consecutive higher highs. But because of that, because of all this unchained data, we opened a smaller position here with free margin on Fee Mexia. Cinema fans may recognize the band from the cult movie classic Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, which followed their legendary journey to rock and roll immortality. Of course, Jack Black is no stranger to the big screen or music. He headed up the award-winning movie School of Rock and has starred in numerous other blockbuster hits such as Shallow Hal, King Kong, Nacho Libre, and the Jumanji reboots. Since he is heading to Dallas next month, we thought it might be a good idea to catch up and see what we can expect from his debut at The Bomb Factory. Jack was kind enough to agree and what followed was one of our funniest and most open interviews to date. You've received numerous awards for acting in blockbuster movies and you have a successful music career. What would you consider your highest achievement thus far?

Probably School of Rock. That was like my tombstone. That's my biggest gig and my big breakthrough. I've gotten a lot of satisfaction from Tenacious D. Every album is like a baby because that one's all mine. You know? The writing, directing, and starring in each one of those projects.

Are there any projects you've done that you regret?

No. [laughs] No, none that I would ever admit to.

You’ve actually got a new movie, Jumanji: The Next Level, coming out later this year.

That one I definitely don’t regret; that’s for sure.

You’re known for being a gamer. What games are you currently into?

I’ve been playing this golf game on my phone. My phone has ruined my gaming career because I was all about the Xbox until my iPhone took over my life. Now there's a game called W… Is it called WTF? It can’t be called WTF. Hold on let me look… It’s called WGT Golf.

Close enough.

Yeah, it's a great golf game for your phone. It's a great app, but they found a way to suck all the money out of my wallet and it's a pet peeve of mine, all these f*cking phone games. They can be fun, but I'm from a generation where you bought a game and you were done buying sh*t. Do you know what I mean? You could play the whole game for your 50 bucks or whatever it is. Fifty bucks seemed like a lot of money for a game back in the day.

Now, with these little crappy phone apps with the in-app purchases, you can spend hundreds of dollars on stupid ass games. The graphics are not better than my rad Xbox games. They figured out a way to rig the system and I hate them for it. But, in the meantime, I continued to just give them my money because I'm a sucker.

You are spot on with that. I can't think of a truer statement I've heard today.

I keep on meaning to play Red Dead Redemption. I’ve started playing it but I’ve just scratched the surface. I just can't carve out the time in my life, you know. I’ve got kids and I’ve got jobs. I am looking forward to retirement when I'm in the old folk’s home and really catch up on all those video games that I've let fall by the wayside. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

Let’s just hope the arthritis holds off so you can do that.

I guess that would f*ck with my gaming. But you know, those Rockstar Games like Red Dead and the Grand Theft Auto don’t require all that much finger strength or speed. It's more like watching a movie. It’s like Bandersnatch where it's a hybrid between a movie and a video game. Did you check out Bandersnatch?

I heard it was awesome. So yeah, I had to check it out.

Hell yeah! That's the future. It's half game and half movie. It won an Emmy for Best TV Movie and I thought that they deserved it, just for the innovation of the choosing your own adventure style. It’s so rad and exciting. Those Black Mirror folks know what they're doing. They’ve got some good episodes too.

Speaking of Hollywood, you apparently made some comments a few years back that offended some folks involved in making superhero movies. Let's go ahead and bridge that void. You were considered for playing Green Lantern before that movie came out. What superhero could you see yourself playing?

Yep. Then they gave it to the pretty boy and you see how that turned out. Great job Hollywood. You sure f*cked that one up. Mine was going to make a billion dollars but, you know, hindsight is 20/20. And I don't begrudge him; I like that guy's new superhero movie as long as he keeps the mask on. Just don't take that mask off because that's when everything gets f*cked. What's his name again? I can't remember his name.

Ryan Reynolds?

Yes. Thank you. Thank you, Ryan Reynolds. I do enjoy the twists and turns that his career has taken because it took him a while to get it going, but now he's on fuego. More power to him. What was the question again? What would I want to do?

What superhero movie would you do or what superhero would you be?

You know, I'd have to be some fat pain in the @ss. Maybe Penguin would be a good role for me or maybe Thing. If you put me in the right muscle suit made of rocks I could be the Thing from Fantastic Four.

I don’t know, man. I’ve seen you do Chris Hemsworth’s workout and you nailed it. Don’t sell yourself short.

Oh yeah! No, I I've got some upper body strength. It's just covered in fat. I'm trying to think if there's any other good fat superheroes, but nothing's coming to mind. Maybe I could be, like, Buddha. That’s not a superhero, he's a religious figure. He's the king of the of the Buddhists. His power could be that he can float around and talk to animals. He's pretty rad. He's real mellow and super Zen.

You may have to work that into your next album.

I'd like to play Buddha. You think they could work him into the MCU?

I don't see why not. It seems, at this point, that they let anybody in.

But I definitely would get in trouble for taking an Asian-American role; that could actually be the end of my career. So, there's that… Do you remember how much trouble Tilda Swinton got in? She got into big trouble for playing that role in Dr. Strange. So, you don't really want to f*ck with that. In fact, next question please.

Fair enough. So, Tenacious D used to be a popular basketball term. Why did you think it was a good idea to apply it as your band’s name?

Well at the time we thought it was hilarious, but in retrospect it was pretty dumb. It's not a very good name for a band, and it's not even really funny anymore. I don't know. Tenacious D. We thought it was just pure gold. It's funny how things somethings age well like a fine wine, but that name for a band is kind of like aged mayonnaise. You don't want to be called Tenacious D. But you know what? It served us well.

It's just among a list of lots of great bands with crappy names. The Beatles? That's a dumb name. I guess because it's a bug and also the word “beat” is in there. So, it's like they keep the beat. Just another dumb name for a band. Another dumb name? U2. It’s just the letter U and the number two. That's some high school sh*t. My point is that it doesn't really matter. The only thing that matters is the content. Do you bring the spicy mustard sauce? If you do you'll be all right.

I read that years ago you would trade Kyle Gass food from Jack In The Box for music lessons. Who got the better end of that deal?

Oh man, that's a tough one. Those music lessons were crucial, but have you ever had Jack In The Box’s seasoned curly fries? Those are some of the best french fried potatoes in the world. I started leaking in my mouth just now. I'm going to call it a tie.

Will we ever actually get to hear the greatest song in the world?

There is a school of thought that it is the song in the Pick of Destiny, Beelzebub. But, you know, it's always a matter of opinion. That's the joke of the greatest song in the world. It's not really a definable thing. It's not really a measurable quantity. Scientifically, it doesn't make any sense to say something is the best song in the world. That’s the joke. It's in the ear of the beholder. One man’s eargasm is another man’s sh*tty music.

For those who've never been to a Tenacious D concert (or even those that have been), what can they expect from your upcoming concert in Dallas?

Well, for those audience members that are old enough to have seen Pink Floyd’s The Wall, that's what it's being compared to. It's a rock opera. It's epic. It's powerful. It's hilarious. It's rated R. Some say it’s rated X but I'm just going to say it’s a really hard R.

Are you keeping your clothes on?

I keep my pants on, but it's all animated. There's, like, a lot of drawings that will be projected on the screens around us. There’s full penetration, but it's like a really bad cartoon drawing trying to do it. It doesn't seem like it should get the same rating as a pornographic film. You get away with a lot more. Have you ever see the movie Sausage Party? You know you never would have been able to do any of that sh*t if it wasn’t a cartoon.

I was thinking that you were going to say Team America.

Aw, the best! You know, there's an unrated version that has an even funnier though sex montage. They went with, like, a full Cleveland Steamer, but only in the not rated version. You won’t get that on TV. You're not going to get that on iTunes or iMovie, but I highly recommend it. That is one of the greats.

I wouldn't call a rock opera, but man can they write some funny songs. Ah, Team America World Police… It all came down to that one weird homeless person, sort of, moral of the story. Know what I mean?

Yes, I do.

Genius and true. You can't really argue with it. They also did it with Book of Mormon. Did you see that show?

That is one that I have not seen.

They crack the code on Broadway, dude. It is the spiciest mustard, every bit as spicy as Team America. Somehow, they made it so we're laughing our @ss off, but then you look over there and there's an 80-year-old grandma laughing her balls off. How do they do it? It's like some kind of magic trick. It's wizardry.

They definitely have found a way to make some hits. Are you ready for few rapid-fire questions?

I'm going to go with that Aerosmith guy.

I'm going to go with that AC/DC song, Shake A Leg.

Instrument you wish that you could play?

What’s that song again by Chicago? I’m going to have to look it up. F*cking Chicago, dude. They are my guilty pleasure. I want to nail it. [He proceeds to cuss out his iTunes for not allowing him to log in so he could search] If You Leave Me Now, that’s it.

What would a song title be for the story of your life?

Wow… Sh*t, it would be really embarrassing to say because I've had a very charmed life, so it’d be something like Juke Box Hero.
