he's (actually not so subtly) staring at you during a snowy mission (gn!reader, fluff)

Snowflakes swirled like a cloud of feathers in the chilly air, no breeze to carry them as they twinkled to the ground. This type of cold would bother anyone, even him... although he never complained. His fingertips were red and numb, holding stiffly onto his rifle as he stood watch.

His blue eyes scanned the endless mountains and pine trees, every inch covered in thick blanket of white, a sky of grey, snow-heavy clouds hung overhead, diffusing the sunlight.

He kept a vigil eye as always, but occasionally, his icy eyes would flicker right. Stealing a glance at you as you shivered beside him.

The tips of your ears were bright red from the cold. Nose and cheeks a pretty pink, nipped from the frost. Shivering under your thick uniform, but like him, you kept your focus out there. Still a good soldier.

Right, focus.

His eyes trailed back to the frozen tundra ahead, little tracks made by rabbits being blown over...

Slowly, but surely, his eyes slid back over to you.

Delicate snowflakes tangled in your hair and lashes, unperturbed by your trembling form.

"Bezaubernd," he muttered under his frost-bitten breath.
