🐩 We're often taught to look forward in upward dog, but I usually prefer incorporating a deeper backbend while gazing over my nose and sometimes tracing my eyes further along the ceiling. This accentuates the pulling action of my chest through my arms and it helps me explore tension along my spine. Beautiful day for yoga outside 💐 I did the Ashtanga Full Primary Series with @larugayoga and it was hard work (as usual). There's always at least one moment in Ashtanga when I'm struggling with something and end up laughing and backing off. Still, I'm always inspired to go back and try it again another day. For me, Ashtanga inspires perseverance and it's guaranteed to be an incredible workout that leaves me feeling clear-headed, focused, confident, and strong. 🐕 Downward facing dog is one of my favorite poses because it gives a full body dynamic stretch, it makes us feel grounded and stuck to the mat, it's a good pose to come back to when you're feeling a bit tired, and that's fun to play with. I especially love a good three-legged dog extension like I'm doing here. Hi, I'm Madeline – an international Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher (RYT 200-hr @uluyoga) specialized in Hatha, creative Vinyasa flows, dynamic Yin sequences, and restorative flows. I'm an American and Canadian based in Ireland, where I teach in-person and online group classes and private lessons.

After completing a BA from McGill University, a JD from Queen's University Belfast, and numerous corporate jobs, I drifted from my creative, adventurous, outgoing, and athletic nature–and I feared losing those qualities by continuing down the legal route. In my second year of law school, I started travelling as a caddy for European Tour golf tournaments and I couldn't imagine going back to a static office job where I primarily looked forward to weekends. My partner also gave me that nudge I needed to pursue a career in something that I loved and had already been doing everyday– yoga 😊 #yogabymadeline

I've been playing with wheel pose recently, working towards bringing my shoulders above my hands, straightening my legs, and walking my hands and feet toward one another while deepening my back bend. This was the first time I recorded myself trying these variations. Next step is improving my camera angles 😂
