I know nothing about Persona let alone Goro Akechi but after reading the bsf and yan profile post I want to give this man a hug (and my tits). His story seems so sad ;-; and he's so pretty and for what?? 💢
Honestly, as much as I enjoy genshin I never truly found it to have any meaningful or extremely well written characters (which is not a bad thing, I just can't take them seriously when they all look like that lmao). All credit to making me think twice about them goes to writers and artists in the fandom. So the change in content feels soooooo nice. Made me appreciate your writing in another way
I've heard about Persona a LOT for years, but I didn't have a huge drive to play it until your liveposting (p.s I love the LP so much) and especially the posts with that one insane policeman guy who is a loser (affectionate, also giving him my pussy). Any recs? 😅
HE IS MY BABY BOY you're so right he is so pretty 😖😖😖 Akechi is genuinely an excellently written character, and Persona 5 Royal is one of the few games I think fully deserves to be so hyped as it is.
Tbh I think the problem genshin and similar games has is that there's so many characters, you have to essentially go out of your way to dig into lore to get anything beyond surface level from them. This happens a lot in series with lots of characters — like with Danganronpa for example, your experience of a lot of characters completely changes upon playing their free time events. A lot of genshin characters get very little screen time on the main story, so all their characterization is in their quests, lines, and character profile content. Which to be fair, with a game of this nature that's kinda the only way to really do it, so, I'm just glad they give us that extra content tbh. I've played some gachas that would introduce new characters but give very little beyond a design and name which is kinda sad when you want to know more about the lil guy you're playing with.
But AAAAAAAAAAAAAA thank you so much anon I am going to ramble here, but I'll put a tl;dr at the bottom!
Soooo if you want to get into Persona, I'd recommend the series in a certain order with some notes. There's 5 main entries in the series and a lot of spinoffs.
A word of advice in general with marathoning a game series: with any series it's a good idea to play in order of chronological and thus technological progression, especially if you intend to play the series back to back, otherwise going from a more recent game to an older one can damper your experience due to the decrease in graphical quality, gameplay smoothness, and general content quantity.
However for this series, the ideal order to play really depends on the factors of 1) which version of Persona 3 you choose to play, and 2) if you want to play Persona 1 & 2.
Regarding Persona 1 and 2: These are some of those games where your enjoyment will strongly depend on whether or not you're a person who is okay with some of the frustrations, limitations and slowness/jankiness common to old games (they came out between 1996-1999). I know some people don't mind or see it as a sort of vintage charm, while others get very frustrated with that — if you're the latter, I'd recommend saving yourself the frustration and skipping them, but if you like old games or have a high tolerance for jankiness, you could start here. I will also say that, even amongst the vintage/90s games fan crowd, P2 is definitely more popular and considered better than P1. It's also much better on the aforementioned issues.
Also, unless you have an original PlayStation or PSP, you'll have to emulate these.
Regarding Persona 3: there's several versions — the original came out in like 2006, then there was a remake version called P3 FES which added an epilogue (which is being added to the recent remake soon anyway), then a PSP remake called Persona 3 Portable (which has ports on modern consoles), then the most recent remake, Persona 3 Reload, came out just a few months ago in 2024.
Obviously the newest remake has vastly improved graphics and added lots of gameplay content. However, one of the biggest differences is that P3 Portable had the option to play as a female protagonist — this altered a lot of aspects of the game and is exclusive to that version (which has disappointed a lot of people hoping she'd be in the 2024 remake), so you can't play as her if you play Reload (unless, I believe, you play PC, there's a volunteer team currently making a mod for her).
Personally, I bought P3 Reload, and couldn't get into it, so I dropped it. Then I bought P3P on a whim and LOVE it so far. Getting to play as the girl protagonist makes a massive difference in my opinion, and more than compensates for the older graphics/gameplay. It's not just the romance routes either, her dialogue options, interactions, music, and overall vibe is different enough that it changes the feel of the story.
It really depends on what you value more — 2024-tier visual quality/gameplay and the epilogue, versus the Female Protagonist experience, so just pick which you prefer.
For the order thing, if you choose to play P3P (or the original/FES for whatever reason), I'd start here, but if you want to play Reload, I'd play it either last or just before P5 Royal.
Moving on, Persona 4: Golden and Persona 5: Royal are both the definitive editions of their respective games. They're remakes of the originals with a lot of added content, and unlike Persona 3, there's no reason to play the older versions over these. Notably their themes/vibes are kinda opposite of each other (big city world-scale societal rebellion versus small rural town murder mystery), I wouldn't say either story is better or worse, they're not really comparable and more a matter of personal taste.
As for the stories, admittedly if you've read my posts, you've essentially already been spoiled on the identity of the killers, but honestly it's still worth experiencing the story, there's multiple big plot twists before and after the reveals regarding Akechi/Adachi.
I would play Persona 5 Royal last, largely because it's widely considered the best entry to the series and is by far the longest. However if you only intend to play one game, it should definitely be P5 Royal. The only real flaw to P5 is it's much easier than previous games.
From here, there's a few more spinoff games, whether or not you want to play them really just depends on if you enjoy the genre. There's a bit of lore in some of them but nothing critical.
Dancing All Night/Starlight/Moonlight - dancing rhythm games
Arena Ultimax - fighting game, acts as an epilogue to P3&4
Persona Q 1&2
These are Nintendo DS spinoffs with chibi style art. I haven't played these and admittedly don't know much about them, I think they're dungeon crawler genre? It's popular for the aspect of which it involves the characters of the different main games, so you get to see them interact with each other.
The downside is that these games are oddly expensive, I think because there weren't too many copies. I intend to get them eventually.
Persona 5 Tactica/Strikers:
These are P5 spinoffs that put the cast in alternate stories, strikers is the closest to a true sequel from my understanding, tactica is more of a dungeon-crawler. I didn't get them because Akechi isn't in strikers and is just minor dlc for tactica.
The Phantom X
This is upcoming I believe, it's going to be a mobile game with a new cast.
The TL;DR of my advice:
- Play P2 only if you're into vintage gaming
- Play P1 only if you're REALLY into vintage gaming
- Play Persona 3 Portable if you really value the female protagonist/male character romance experience, otherwise play Persona 3 Reload
- If you play the original Persona 3, FES, or P3 Portable: start with that, then P4 Golden, then P5 Royal
- If you play Persona 3 Reload: play P4 Golden FIRST, then both P5 Royal and P3 Reload in either order.
- Play the spinoffs just based on what type of games you like, if any.

has anyone mentioned persona 3 yet..? spoilers for it but.. the protagonist literally has a random boy (named Pharos) just In Their Head. the kid even has his own persona! like when the protag first summons their persona, Orpheus, another persona breaks out of its head and takes out the shadows for you! (cus ur persona is like lv1 lol) i wont explain how or why u have a kid stuck in ur head but like having another actual person in the same body? pretty plural to me!
(also play p3 please!! ideally p3fes and p3p cus p3re doesnt have hamuko.. and i way prefer portable and fes's aesthetics.. also u can emulate em so theyre free)
rating: plural!

Okay, so they said they are going to patch the sound issues in the p3p port, but I don't think they are going to change the ai upscaling. I also don't know if they released the patch yet or not. Overall if you want to play p3p emulation is still probably a better experience overall, and it's fairly easy to emulate psp games on a PC if you want to go that route just saying
Some people are mad about the fact that they ported p3p over FES, but honestly the visual novel style of p3p doesn't bother me it's got it's own charm. The removal of the animated cutscenes does bother me, but it's easy enough to look them up on YouTube that's it's not a deal breaker to me personally. I do wish for a remake of some sort that people spread rumors of every so often but until then both version have their merits and downsides. This has been my persona 3 port ramble that you didn't ask for but I hope it helps
if i can emulate p3p on my computer i will most likely go that route, tho i can barely get any 3ds games to run smoothly on it so im unsure how well thatd go.. couldnt hurt to try tho!! the only reason i was considering the port tbh was bc its on gamepass so id basically play it for free there, but i think the original would be more convenient oddly enough. good to know they plan to fix the sound stuff but if they dont rework the upscaling ....... :/
i had to look up the differences between p3p and FES, seems like the second one is shorter but has more playtime? is that bc of the animated cutscenes u mentioned? either way i think ill go the play p3p + watch cutscenes on youtube route, if thats how that is, bc that sounds like the easiest way to experience it. thank u for telling me all this!! :3

Another P3FES one for today, we’re going to be talking about THE DEBUG MENU.
This fun tool is only accessible by using this cheat, which can be used by placing the file in your "cheats" folder of PCSX2 and enabling cheats in the emulator.
NOTE: The Debug Menu does not require hostFS to be set up to work, just that you have PCSX2 set up and a copy of the US version of Persona 3 FES.
Once you have the cheat installed, its time to boot up the game. Start a game (doesn't matter if it's a new game or a loaded save) and wait until you get to a "3D cutscene," which is a part of the game where their are 3D models on the screen but you can not move around the characters, and press the "Right Trigger" or "R2" button on your controller.
You should see a screen like this pop up over the game.
Tumblr media
Once this screen pops up, you know that you have successfully set up the debug menu. If it does not pop up, check to make sure you have cheats enabled in the PCSX2 menu and try again.
There are a couple of things we can do in the debug menu. I will go over the buttons and what they do now.
[DEBUG MENU OPEN] + △ (Triangle) button:
THE EVENT EDITOR
Tumblr media
We are not going to get into the Event Editor now as it will require MULTIPLE posts to get through all the things you can change in the game. Just know that you can bring it up by going into the Debug Menu and pressing Triangle and can leave it by pressing Circle.
[DEBUG MENU OPEN] + ○(Circle) button:
CLOSE DEBUG MENU
Pretty simple function, this button closes out the Debug Menu. You might not think this function is very important, but now that we've opened and closed the Debug Menu, we have a few new options at our disposal.
[DEBUG MENU CLOSED] + □(Square) button:
FREE CAMERA
Tumblr media
This option brings up the free camera, basically a camera that can be moved around by the Analog Sticks to see anything on screen, its a great way to look around and see whats happening in hidden parts of the scene. One thing you will notice at this step though, is that the event seems to be paused, and there is a simple way to fix that!
[DEBUG MENU CLOSED] + START button:
PAUSE / UNPAUSE EVENT
Tumblr media
When an event is paused, animations will still play, like in the GIF, but everyone will be locked in place. The game is always paused after closing the Debug Menu.
When the game is Paused, you can also time travel!
[EVENT PAUSED] + L1 / R1:
REWIND / FAST-FORWARD
Tumblr media
This is what it looks like when you rewind all the way to the beginning. Slight FLASH WARNING for this screen. Rewinding to this screen is important when making changes to the Event Editor, as it resets all the characters and animations to their original states, and will help you see how the changes you made will look when watching the scene casually.
I have never used the Fast-Forward function in my life.
[EVENT PAUSED] + RIGHT on D-PAD:
STEP FORWARD
Tumblr media
This button moves the event forward by one frame at a time. Useful if you want to go forward one frame at a time. Cant go backwards one frame at a time! IDK why.
I think that's it for today! This was a lot of info to dump so I'm not going to even try to talk about the Event Editor.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Eve! Regarding the recent Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 Golden asks- there's this emulator I use to play Persona 3 Portable and I believe there's a rom for FES too! I use the PPSSPP emulator and it works very well, the emulator is also available for mobile devices for free ^^ finding a trustable rom is kinda hard though ;;
I hope you can get your hands on Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 Golden soon!! They're both so amazing and worth while, from the characters to the story! (Also I understand the pain of our computers not being able to take it XD I tried so hard to have P4G and P5S downloaded at the same time alongside games like Genshin Impact and Stardew Valley.. I knew better than to push it luckily TT)
Remember to take care of yourself, Eve! ♡
rosie!! hi!!
i didn’t even think of using an emulator! that’s a great idea, thank you! a friend of mine uses them a lot so i’ll ask them about it. i’ve heard nothing but great things about both games and am super excited to get into both!
if it’s not my laptop having zero space, it’s my phone lol i desperately need a new one of both sob if p3+4 were on the ps4, i’d buy them in a heartbeat
you take care of yourself, too, rosie! and thank you for telling me all of this!!

Persona Fandom Problems: “Guide to legally buying Persona games so Atlus can see the money” solution 2
So I guess some people didn’t see my first solution guide before, which broke down the rough cost of consoles (except PS4) and the games (which included the cheapest they’ve been at online and the base price available online). Tldr; going a few routes show it’s pretty cheap, esp if you can find the console cheap (the games however you either have to wait for to go down in price, otherwise they can get pricey, personally I expect them to go down again when P5R JPN/Outside JPN releases or maybe even doing it for Halloween/American Thanksgiving/Christmas included in a special it’s just a feeling but since it’s a new Persona game, they usually dock prices when a new Persona game comes out....at least in Japan, in the USA they will dock prices around our big holidays so keep it in mind.). The key is that you kinda have to buy the games digitally now, buy used and Atlus don’t see the money and at that point you could’ve just emulated or watched a let’s play/youtube “movie”.
That being said, it’s not to shame people who emulated (esp the older games), but if you had the money (or even had the console but not the games) it was a good guide to help people get into the game but also in a way that Atlus themselves see it so that it actually helps support the game.....But I’ve seen people getting pissy about this again, first they get mad people aren’t playing the games because it costs money, if you mention emulation, then they get pissy cause now it’s free and Atlus don’t see the money, and now it’s a cycle where you don’t win and are shamed or rushed into losing money.
BUT FEAR NOT! Here I have a new solution! :D One that combines emulation and buying (gasp I know). It’s a lot cheaper (esp if you wait for the digital prices to go down), and/because you don’t even need to buy a console.
And the answer is........Emulate, but buy the game digitally from your PC/Computer to show your support that way. Simple! Alternatively, if you didn’t emulate it but watched a playthrough/walthrough or the anime series (probably illegally but hey anime isn’t cheap, and the games kinda are in comparison), you can still count. (basically, if you watched or played an emulated version of a Persona game or watched an adaptation, and you liked it, then buy it digitally to show support, you don’t need a system to buy it, but consider it payment for the experience). If you didn’t like a certain Persona game after trying it, then I guess you...props shouldn’t pay......which means I guess this post isn’t for you? 8U
Wait wait, I know you have questions: “How much money would the games cost,” “How do I set up an account,” “I’m not from the USA nor Japan for these specials,” That’s ok, under the cut I’ll explain all that stuff for you (if you know what to do from here, then you don’t need to go under the cut 8U)!
First the price of games. The first part listed in bold is what’s the lowest it’s been listed on a sale day (from what I can find) the 2nd number is what it’s currently listed as now for the base price. Now for P3/4 it shouldn’t matter which version you pick, but if you pick P3P and you want to support the FeMC more then pick P3P (same goes for P4G/Arena/Ultimax/Adachi DLC if you want more Adachi). Same tbh same can go for certain DLC stuff too, want more Marie? Buy Marie DLC. Want more Miku in your dancing games? Buy Miku. Want Adachi/Sho? Buy their DLC too! Want more Margaret? Buy her DLC in Arena/Ultimax (iirc it’s one of those two if not both, it’s been a hot minute ok? ;w;). I won’t be listing DLC, they don’t usually go on sale iirc, but feel free to explore on the website. (but yeah bold is the lowest I’ve SEEN/could find evidence of it go down in price, if there isn’t a price before “/” it’s because I can’t remember what the sale price was like 3+ years ago and the internet doesn’t have the number available for that time, but there have been sales on ALL the games so far)
Games (all PS3/PSP/PSVita/PS4, in rough release order)
Persona 1 (PSP, $/19.99)
Persona 2: Innocent Sin (PSP, $/19.99 )
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS1 classic, $3.99/9.99)
Persona 3 FES (PS2 classic, $5.99/9.99)
Persona 3 Portable (PSP, $/19.99 )
Persona 4 (PS2 classic, $5.99/9.99)
Persona 4 Golden (Vita, $/19.99 )
Persona 4: Arena (PS3, $/14.99)
Persona 4: Ultimax (PS3, $/19.99, or if you have PS+ during the month it was free, then it is free for you and you save about $20).
Persona 4: Arena Story mode (Ultimax DLC, $9.99, aka you get the story of Arena and Ultimax for $29.98 instead of $34.98)
Persona 5 (PS3/PS4, $ 13.99/19.99) (ultimate edition, 50.99/84.99
Persona Dancing All star triple pack (only way to get PS4 ver of P4D btw): /$59.99
Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight (Vita or PS4, $/39.99 or 59.99)
Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight (Vita or PS4, $/39.99 or 59.99)
Persona 4: Dancing All Night (Vita, $/24.99 )
P5R (PS4, $59.99, place holder)
Now onto the PSN account. If for some reason you don’t have a US/JPN account, and your country PSN doesn’t have any of these games then make a US/JPN one. US and JPN tend to have deals on these (not sure about other countries again).
For Sony you can easily make one at this website, (if you can’t access Persona games digitally from your country, check this post on how to make an account from another country, it also tells you where to go on purchasing foreign PSN Currency if the account isn’t where you are from). The website and doing it on the Playstation are roughly similar (the video is assuming you are doing it on the PSN), so I wouldn’t worry too much.
Now I know I didn’t list the PQ games....and that’s because.....I dunno if you can buy them digitally from the Eshop website. You can if you have a 3DS buuuuuuuut.....that’s....not going to help......if you don’t have a 3DS....and you had to emulate or watch it.....If there’s a way I can’t seem to find it so sorry ;w;
But yeah that’s basically it, if you are a fan of the game you like you should buy it. But you should buy it in a way that it actually means supporting it (aka not buying used). Give Atlus the numbers, and let your money do the talking. Lastly, I have a veeeeeery big feeling that these digital games will go on sale when P5R is released. If that does happen, I’ll make a separate post with links to the JPN pages.

Hey! What order do u recommend playing Persona in? Are there any i should avoid? I have virtually no knowledge of it jskdksvs tysm though!!
oh feel absolutely free to bug me about it
play p3, then p4, then p5! and THEN p1 and p2 (i skipped p1 and am playing p2 rn but its a very different game and pretty disconnected from 3 4 and 5).
all persona games are only vaguely connected to one another, so you can honestly play them in ANY order you want (although i recommend the chronological straight shot).
i recommend playing p3p if you can (persona 3 portable) because it lets you play as the female persona 3 protagonist, who has better social links imo.  if not, play persona 3 fes and mod it so you have direct party control! persona 3 sounds like HELL without direct party control.
persona 4 classic is the version you can emulate (persona 4 golden has the “true” ending in that all spin off games will use it as a base but it’s, again, a vita exclusive and theres no viable way to emulate a vita). golden honestly kind of. sucks? almost all the bonus content is atlus being gross, HOWEVER, the adachi social link (the “jester” link) is p4golden exclusive and i highly recommend watching it if you’re not gonna play golden.
and then p5 is p5! theres probably gonna be a switch port soon plus “p5r” which sounds like a next gen console exclusive but nobody’s very sure about anything rn.
p1&p2 are classic shin megami tensei games (old jrpg HELL), essentially! they don’t have a lot of the things that became core parts of persona gameplay in p3, like social links or a velvet room attendant, and its’….very different gameplay? p2: innocent sin has a canonically bisexual protagonist though (tatsuya can romance his childhood friend, jun, the only gay romance option in persona!)
re: spinoffs
i heard persona 4 arena: ultimax is good, and it serves kind of as a bridge between persona 3 and persona 4 (it takes place post p4) if you like fighting games! persona 4: dancing all night is post p4 and pre p4:arena and p4: arena ultimax (ultimax is the sequel to arena) and is, weirdly enough, canon! it’s a dancing game but it has a story mode about murder or something lmao. so it goes.
im pretty sure pq and pq2 are supposed to be canon, too! they’re cartoony crossovers between all the persona games (3-5). i think they end in amnesia or something though so canon or not they have no direct impact on the greater plot of persona.
persona 3 dancing moon light and persona 5 dancing star light are also dancing games, but it’s not….canon-canon in the way that p4 dancing all night has a story mode. they look more fun to play though honestly if you like rhythm games.
*EDIT bc i did not know p3p was playable on ppsspp !

Persona 3 FES: Part 1 (Game Review)
Backstory: The major reason I chose Persona 3 FES was due to a friend of mine, Allan, pushing off Persona 5 multiple times. I made a deal with him, I would go through Persona 3 FES on hard, as its his favorite of the series, if he beats Persona 5, and so he agreed. Because I am already playing through it, I decided I might as well review it in parts about my experience.
This part will establish important details to understanding the game, before I discuss plot. The Pictures used for the review(all parts) come from the Shin Megami Tensei Wikia Site, http://megamitensei.wikia.com , this is due to simplicity.
Gameplay: If you never played a persona game, then this section will help explain everything that is major to the game. The game is a Turn-Based JRPG, with elements similar to Pokemon, with enemies and allies being weak to specific attack types and the collect them all style for the personas, but that is where the similarities end. The player character has the ability to wield multiple personas at once, and switch through them, while the rest of the party members lack this ability. The best feature in battle is the once mores and all out attacks. By hitting an enemy with an attack they are weak to or by landing a critical hit, they get knocked down and you or your party member gets to attack again.
Tumblr media
However, this also happens when you or a party member gets hit with an attack they are weak to. Once more’s DO NOT happen when using a multi targeting attack. Missing a target also downs the attacker. All out attacks happen when the entire enemy team is downed and it deals massive damage to all downed targets, but it requires at least one party member to be up and have no status affects
Tumblr media
Without either of these core features, Persona 3 FES would be near unplayable, so its best that you work to use them and try to hit an enemies weak point. I do feel spoiled by the other games, as the all out attack and once more system gets improved a ton in the future installments, simply due to how the party changes work. In Persona 3 FES, you do not have direct control over party members, and to some, this is a deal breaker. I would not recommend hard for the first time player, even if you beaten other Persona games, but as stipulation for the deal with my friend, I am. I found that because of the lack of complete control of party members, you must rely on your own character and the ability to have multiple personas. Your party isn’t dumb, they are rather smart and due attacks that make sense, but you must control them by using the Tactics commands that are part of the command menu. It sucks that they done stay the same, but at the same time, its useful for boss fights or other tough fights to tell the party exactly what you want them to do, but its still no supplement for self control, and to the games credit, its the first of the series to be in this fashion so I can give it some slack.  Personas and enemies have an Arcana, based upon the major arcanas of the tarot deck. This matters because of Social Links. Social Links are the way the main character levels up his personas. Social Links are bonds of friendship between characters of the main over world who represent each of the Arcana, some are given to you by game progress, like Fool, while the majority are gained by spending time with people, like Magician. This is another aspect that may turn off players, as they are “forced” to spend time with other characters. I like this idea, and looking at the game for when it was released, it was a risk move, but it payed off, as the sequels use this mechanic to flesh out their characters, FES being no exception. Some Social Links or S-Links as I will be referring to them in the coming parts, can be quite dull, but I can once again give it slack as its the first game to do S-Links. S-Links is also how your character can date, but some require certain conditions to be met, like your personal stats need to meet specific levels. Personas can also Fuse, which is how you make personas typically, as it adds your S-Link level bonus to the fusion. By fusing personas, you can give the new persona attacks or abilities the old ones had by having it inherit them. I am not going to explain how the likely hood can be manipulated, as it would make the review go even longer, but its semi-complicated. To get what you want however, back out and select the personas again til you get what you want. The arcana also helps determine what role the persona will fill once fused, and there are plenty of online calculators for finding what persona fuse into what. The last two mechanics are Player Stats and Fatigue. The three player stats that you will be trying to increase is Courage, Charm, and Academics. The player stats matter, as they determine your school grades, yes being a high school means you have tests, social links and even specific lines of dialogue. Balancing Social Links, Dungeon Diving and Player Stats is the players bane, but enjoyable once you find your nice balance. But the thing that likes to mess with the balance is, FATIGUE. This is one thing that I feel ruins this game. You want to dungeon dive, well too bad your party is too tired or sick. Want to study like a normal student, too bad you studied your worst subject and wake up sick the next day, it really frustrates me. Well it did, until I discovered the bathroom. No joke, your best friend is the bathroom, it can cure fatigue, but only at a chance and the first time that day,so if  your are using an emulator, save state before it, and boom you’re good. At least the one thing fatigue can give you is a courage up for free, from the school “nurse.” Now that I covered all the major mechanics, next part will be part of the actual story. And I will give you a death counter at each part, because, I did die, alot.
EDIT: I just found out you can set tactics to save in config from the system menu in the pause menu. Huh, the more you know.

Persona Fandom Problems: Guide to legally buying Persona games so Atlus can see the money
So I guess I’ve heard this is a problem in the Persona fandom as a whole (aka both old and modern Persona fans) within the last few months (or at least I’ve seen complaints within the last few months)? So fans are demanding certain Persona *insert thing* but they don’t actually legally buy/support the thing when it comes out for....whatever reason. Is this really a thing? Like I don’t want to believe it (or at least believe it’s as rampant as it really is) but if that’s the case....well....now you know one of the reasons why I’m making this post. The other is that, more recently, I have seen people complain about how they can’t support these games so Atlus sees the money so they have to turn to emulation, which I’m not shaming you (you do you, I don’t know your situation), you can emulate but.....you can/have the ability to still buy these games in a way that Atlus (or I guess *insert game*) can still get the support. And fun fact, sometimes there are summer sales which can make the games go down in price even more, so yay you support the game and you save some money! So yeah not saying you HAVE to support them, but this is showing that you still have the ability to support them if you can......and tbh money speaks volumes for businesses so this is also to show how you can make your voice heard (aka if you want a P1/2 remake, you should probably buy the digital copies). (last note: inb4 someone says Atlus is financially alright now, yes that’s true but this is more for wanting your voice heard, not trying to keep Atlus from going under, financially they are fine but again.....you want remakes of a game you want? You probs should back it up by buying the game).
Note if it’s bolded, it’s roughly how low the game has gone on sale on the PSN during an Atlus Summer day PSN sale(from what I can remember/find old archives of said sales) or other place if specified, otherwise the sale listed is the current price of the game digitally at the time of this posting. Also note this is mostly for the USA people (but I wouldn’t be surprised if the prices were translated to roughly the same amount outside the US), but since 90% of the stuff on this list is digital and Sony, and Play-Asia exists, it shouldn’t be that hard to make a USA account and get a USA PSN card off of Play-Asia (or other 3rd party website) so like it’s do-able outside the US....it’s a hassle but just an FYI that this post isn’t 100% alienating anyone outside the US. Anyway moving on. (Under the cut for the list)
If you have a PS3 only:
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS1 classic, $3.99/9.99)
Persona 3 FES (PS2 classic, $5.99/9.99)
Persona 4 (PS2 classic, $5.99/9.99)
Persona 4: Arena (PS3, $14.99)
Persona 4: Ultimax (PS3, $19.99, or if you have PS+ during the month it was free, then it is free for you and you save about $20).
Persona 4: Arena Story mode (Ultimax DLC, $9.99, aka you get the story of Arena and Ultimax for $29.98 instead of $34.98)
Persona 5 (PS3, $19.99)
(PS3′s can cost around $80, rough total cost off all games[P4U+Arena DLC story only, aka not including P4A’s game itself)): $65.94/79.94 +$80= $145.94/159.94
If you have a PSP and a PS3 (*see explanation below, PSP games below listed only):
Persona 1 (PSP, $/19.99)
Persona 2: Innocent Sin (PSP, $/19.99 )
Persona 3 Portable (PSP, $/19.99 )
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS1 classic, $3.99/9.99)
(PSP’s can cost around $70+PS3′s $80..... All games together= $63.96/69.96+70+80= $213.96/219.96, a lot but on the bright side, you’d probs just need one P3 game and you’d have access to roughly most titles in Persona between the two consoles)
If you have a Vita or a VitaTV (and a PS4 or PS4 controller**):
Persona 1 (PSP, $/19.99)
Persona 2: Innocent Sin (PSP, $/19.99 )
Persona 3 Portable (PSP, $/19.99 )
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS1 classic, $3.99/9.99)
Persona 4 Golden (Vita, $/19.99 )
Persona 4: Dancing All Night (Vita, $/24.99 )
Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight (Vita, $39.99)
Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight (Vita, $39.99)
(Vitas are about $150 at gamestop, but you can maybe get them for under $100 online. Luckily the vita has access to almost all the Persona titles, and is probs one of the best consoles to invest in for Persona, of course the games will run up a decent penny until they either A) go down in price mainly P3/5D, or B) there’s a sale.....so what’s listed now might get cheaper later....also the fact you don’t need to buy all the games all at once. All the games+at max GameStop costs is...... $188.92/190.92+150=$338.92/340.92)
If you have a PS4
Persona 5 (PS4, $19.99)
Persona 4: Dancing All NIght (PS4, Bundle only it seems, $100 on PSN and has gone as low as $49.97 new at Gamestop, but for 3 games for about $50 that’s pretty good)
Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight (PS4, $59.99, individually it has gone on sale new at Gamestop but I don’t know how low)
Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight (PS4, $59.99, individually it has gone on sale new at Gamestop but I don’t know how low)
Persona 5: The Royal (coming soon)
PS1 retro console:
Revelations: Persona (has other games too, $19.99/59.99, the $19.99 price is at Best Buy at the time of this posting/making of posting). [probably the cheapest way to pick up P1 if you don’t mind playing the half finished butchered version......tho unlike the digital sales, I don’t know if Atlus is seeing royalties on sales of these]
For 3DS:
Persona Q1 (3DS, Nintendo Shop has it for $19.99)
Persona Q2 (3DS, $29.99/39.99
(I think the cheapest system is a 2DS Original preowned at Gamestop for $59.99....tho again you might find it cheaper online, with the games that’d be $49.98/59.98+59.99=$109.97/119.97)
*The reason you need a PS3 with your PSP, it is because Sony shut down the PSN shop for the PSP, BUT you can still get games digitally for those games via downloading it through your PS3 into your PSP. (also fun fact, the PSP games dropped from like $30-40 to $20 which used to be it’s summer day sale price but who knows it could go down more if Atlus feels like it).
**PSVita TV needs a PS4 controller
***Only did prices of PS3, PSP, PSV, and 3DS cause I know they are older and some people might not know the cheaper prices
*****I only listed the prices of consoles for people who might not own them, not saying you HAVE to buy the consoles but it’s there so you have an idea of what you are looking at (also not listed for the PS3, a bunch of MegaTen games are available in the PS2 classic store too: DDS1, DDS2, Raidou 1, Raidou 2, and SMT3 for about the same prices as the PS2 P3/4 games. So it’s a great way to get into the other MegaTen games too along with the 3DS).
****** “I want to buy these games digitally but I don’t want to buy the console right now” fun fact, you can make a PSN account online and just buy the games from your computer! And if you ever get a console for said game, you can always log in with that account and ta-da you have a game to play! Not saying you HAVE to do that either, but in case people were wondering if they could.....well now they know. 8U
