the 212th chief medical officer, bones ✨
[id: it's a drawing sheet of a 212th Clone Medic with his name, "Bones", written in all caps in the top left. From right to left: in the first drawing, he has one hand on his hip and is looking to the side with a quizzical expression. In the second, he wears his helmet in addition to the rest of his armor and holds a medical bag over one shoulder. In the next, his helmet is off again and he is looking down, looking miffed, and in the last, he is smiling. His armor is the standard phase I and has an orange rib cage painted on the chestplate. /end id]

Maedhros & Maglor Week day 2: Trust/Distrust
Double drabble. Warning for discussion of canon-typical treatment of escaped thralls.
One alchemist, mixing a warming draught, says: “You can tell by the eyes. Look closely, when he wakes. If they are the eyes of a dead thing, he is already gone.”
One weaver, dying yarn the yellow of Arien’s hair, says: “Their memories give it away. They cannot recall details, will mix names, will refuse to describe their torment.”
One fisher, returning from the lake empty-handed, says: “They cannot last long without revealing themselves. If they haven’t tried to gut or strangle anyone within a sennight, they are safe.”
One chieftain, scowling over a map of the Noldor’s encampments, says: “They are already gone. You cannot see it, you cannot prove it, you can only wait until the knife is in your ribs and the gates are unbarred. You do not make such a mistake a second time. None return from Angband.”
So the Mithrim say. So here Maglor waits, blade in hand. He will allow none other to hold this vigil, has bartered knowledge from Artanis of the songs of wakefulness improvised on the Ice in exchange for his best harp. It is an easy task for the regent-king. After all, he has already condemned Maitimo to death once.

Chapter 24
Just Give Me a Reason
Shortly after Freya’s first birthday, we found ourselves back in Britechester for Jamie and Athena’s wedding. That was definitely not something I’d seen coming.
But I was happy for them, even if I could feel my own bitterness simmering underneath. I would never have what they clearly had.
It was nice to see all my old university friends again, though. I hadn’t really kept in touch with Cierra, Ivan and the others since we graduated.
Katherine felt awkward being there, obviously. Not only was she surrounded by former students, but everyone knew our story by now. And her old house was just across the canal from here.
I saw her wiping a tear away, but I ignored it. I didn’t want to draw any unwanted attention to her.
Instead, I was catching up with Ivan. We even laughed about how I’d once tried to hide that I slept with Katherine. He told me that the second he had asked at the festival, the guilty look on my face had confirmed everything.
Jamie and Athena were both straight edge health nuts, so it was an alcohol-free wedding, but I still managed to have a pretty good time sober.
Katherine came over and told me that she would like to go for a brief walk. Just to have a look around her old neighbourhood. Athena heard her, and gave me a worried look.
I had a flashback to the look Athena gave me in the library a few years ago when Katherine had asked me to meet her in her office. But I shrugged and told Katherine to do whatever she wanted.
She left and Athena sat down next to me.
“I think she wanted you to go with her”, she said quietly.
That hadn’t occurred to me at all.
I lost myself in conversation again as Katherine headed towards her old home.
When she reached the house, she ran into Antony, who was just about to leave. And he wasn’t alone. But they had already seen her, so she had no other option than saying hello.
Antony happily introduced her to his girlfriend Amber.
Or rather fiancée. They’d gotten engaged a few weeks before. Amber cheerfully showed off her enormous diamond ring.
She congratulated them, and Antony even politely asked how our daughter was doing. He and Amber seemed genuinely happy and in love.
Katherine said goodbye as quickly as she could without being rude.
When she came back to Jamie and Athena’s house, she was visibly upset. She told me what had happened.
I was not impressed. I felt like she was asking to be hurt by going anywhere near her ex-husband or his house.
We traveled home mostly in silence.

reminder that you are not immune to scams. they're not all "you're the 100000th visitor you've won a million dollars click here!!!" viruses. scammers are getting really good at making things look very legitimate. there are apps that look identical to popular online store's/streaming apps that will just steal your card info when you go to check out. be sure to check the legitimacy of everythinggggg before you give out any sensitive information or click any links or open any attachments.

Don't forget who you're talking to.
@pleinsdemuses
"Yeah? Who'm I talking to? Cap's girlfriend? Mary fuckin' Sunshine? The woman who used to be Sinthea Schmidt?" He was smiling but there was nothing pleasant about it as he tried to goad her into some sort of reaction. He used to spend every spare minute he could with Sin, but two days in a safehouse with her after escaping the Raft, and all he could think about was his hands around her throat. She was driving him up the fuckin' wall with this new act of hers, and he never could resist needling her back, wanting to see how far he could push her before she snapped.
He wanted to prove--to himself, to her--that she was still herself, just as violent and chaotic and unpredictable as always. "The old you would be sick if you could see yourself. When you gonna get it through your head that he ain't here? I'm the one who yanked yer ass outta prison. I'm the one puttin' up with your shit. You wanna go back to Captain Prettyboy, then get the fuck out. When he gift wraps you for SHIELD a second time, you're gonna be shit outta luck, 'cause I won't be there. And guess what, girl. He won't be either."
