Just got my bill from the dialysis center I used while I was on vacation in Tennessee. $47,360.76 for 6 dialysis treatments if I were uninsured, Medicare paid them $1215.06 and I still owe $304.50 Beyond that, $47,000 for 6 treatments?! Get the eff outta here with that nonsense! How are these companies able to bill like that? That would mean for the average in-center patient who is getting the bare minimum amount of treatment they're billing $94,000 a month!! Hopefully that gives you all some insight as to how much it costs to keep stubborn ass people like me alive! Also, this is why a lot of folks are miserable and stressed out on dialysis. They make it so expensive for folks on only Medicare to pay for their life-sustaining treatments not to mention if they are well enough to travel, because that 20% coinsurance portion that we're responsible for adds up quick! This is another reason why I do home dialysis. If I had just sucked it up and took my machine and supplies with me for the two weeks I was there, I'd have not only gotten 5 quality treatments a week as opposed to 3 shitty ones, but I'd also not owe this 300 bucks! Thank God for @helphopeliveorg and the fundraising I've done through them, I can just send them this bill and it will get paid.
