Stress on Steroids: High School Edition
by Crystal Fan
Pulling all-nighters for exams. Dark eye circles. Classmates who are half asleep in class. My senior year of high school has been more hectic than I could have ever imagined. It seems like everybody is suffering from a concoction of feeling overwhelmed, senioritis (burnout), and a terrible case of stress. Looking around, the senior year has decimated us, with things coming at us a thousand miles per hour. For starters, there's academic pressure. Then there are extracurriculars, family life, friends and relationships, cats on the internet, and the black hole that is social media. The cherry on top is college applications. Senior year is a never-ending to-do list requiring a NASA-level scientific and precise approach to time management and perfection. In short, it's impossible. There is no human way to juggle everything. There are too many balls in the air.
Eventually, something gives. We sacrifice things. Sleep. Mental health. Not to mention sanity (some of which I'd like to keep in case I need it one day). It is almost as if we live in a never-ending cycle of to-do lists, exams, and the pursuit of accomplishments. This quickly becomes exhausting.
In short, high school, especially senior year, is a breeding ground for stress. Stress multiplies and feeds off of everybody in a frenzy. The statistics speak for themselves. Approximately 45% of high schoolers report experiencing stress daily (CrossRiverTherapy). Roughly 61% of teenagers between the ages of 13-17 admit to feeling pressure to attain high grades.
Generally, there are two types of events that cause stress: external and internal. External event-driven stress typically dissipates after the event is over. Internal event-driven stress is caused by thoughts and things we say to ourselves.
While some stress can be beneficial and acts as a motivator to prepare us for events, too much stress leads to unhealthy short-term repercussions such as fatigue, insomnia, unhealthy relationships with food, trouble focusing, and becoming overly anxious or depressed. But chronic stress? A whole different ball game. According to the Mayo Clinic, chronic stress holds severe consequences such as muscle tension and pain, headaches, weight gain, and even heart attacks.
Stress is a fact of life. It is inevitable. There is no way to avoid it; once you get comfortable, life throws you another curveball. So the question is: do we manage stress so it doesn't take over our lives?
Well, here are some stress management tips Harvard University has for high schoolers:
Keep a journal
Download a mindfulness or meditation app
Eating healthy meals
Exercising regularly
Getting plenty of sleep
Limiting caffeine
Reaching out to family and friends for support
Making time for hobbies
Some tips that have worked for me:
Start a gratitude journal. Spend 5 minutes daily jotting down things, events, or people you feel grateful for. Even something that brings you the slightest amount of joy counts
Establish a meditation routine that works for your schedule, and meditate for at least 5 minutes daily.
Talk to someone. You don't need a therapist to feel better. You can talk to a trusted confidant about your worries, concerns, and challenges. You are not alone. There is always someone willing to listen.
Additionally, you can try:
Volunteering in the community. Science has shown that giving back makes people feel better.
Finding ways to laugh more. Spend time with people who make you feel good, watch a comedy, or find memes online.
Seeking professional help through counseling or therapy. Mental health services can be highly beneficial.

the "that girl" trend on tiktok is so depressing to me because a lot of the habits it encourages are indeed positive and healthy (regular sleep schedule, eating healthy, meditating, journalling) but solely done for the benefit of an imaginary viewer, the quite literally vain hope of being admired and envied behind your back (and, lbr, on social media), rather than a genuine love or care for oneself or a passion and belief in any of the practices it advocates

THE post-Easter/pre-birthday get your shit together and try to be more committed than last time to improve all aspects of your life PLAN:
Focus: Improve body image, overall fitness, mental health, intelligence, relationships, and spirituality.
1. Vary strength and cardio workouts
2. Track food/aim for 1500 per day
3. Limit dairy, bread and sugar
4. Read a minimum of a chapter/an article/learn daily
5. Journal/doodle/write/be creative as much as possible
6. Meditate/stay grounded
7. Be productive/set intentions but rest too
8. Express gratitude/RAKs often
What I know: Transformation is a process with many ups and downs. Fuck...some days it seems all you get is a healthy serving of nope-not-today. Life has a funny way of challenging every plan you put into motion. Setbacks followed by crippling self doubt. I've learned there are no days off. You just gotta trudge on. Embrace grit.
Unlearning years of bad habits isn't easy, it’s that old path of least resistance thing but I'm fortunate enough to have trust in the process. Faith in myself to be a little bit better tomorrow. Continue focusing on better food choices, commitment to training with purpose and working on all aspects of a better me.
Side note: We all stumble. I’m actually fairly proficient at it. But failure is a single event not a characteristic. It doesn’t define you any more than a single success does. Successful people have one thing in common - they find out what it takes to be successful and repeatedly do it. It’s that simple. They do it, again and again, not talk about it. Actions have always spoken louder than words, we all know this. Being knowledgeable in regards to fitness plans, diet information and health tips is only part of the journey. To get anywhere you need to apply it all in to action. Daily. Determination and discipline, not discussion, determine your distance. Stop talking about it and do it. And as cliché as it is, try to focus on ‘progress not perfection’. Even baby steps are moving you further away from the stagnant know-it-alls of the world.
Finally: It is my intention to leave all the following behind:
impatience
confrontation
apathy
stubbornness
self-sabotage
disloyalty
irrationalism
assumicide
thickskullitis
lengthy lulls in creativity
miscommunication
hopefully a few pounds
and excuses
And, I intend to:
embrace grit
listen and learn
be kinder
advocate gratitude
check in with myself more often
focus on the positive
be better tomorrow than today
acknowledge my needs and worth
find power in the pause
have faith in benefit of the doubt
stop overthinking
nap

As promised, I am back with a more in-depth post about what I’ve been working on over the past couple of weeks. Without further delay, I’d like to officially invite each and every one of you to TGA’s first ever REJUVENATION RETREAT! I’ve been thinking about putting something like this together for a while, and I’m really excited to finally see it come to fruition. There are going to be a lot of moving parts to this, so bear with me while I get through everything! I hope at the end, you’ll all feel moved and inclined to join in on the fun!
It’s no secret that yoga, meditation, and connecting with the higher self are all parts of my kooky preachings I’ve spewed on campus since the day I got here- and I don’t just mean this time around. But, they aren’t just that- they’re things I personally live by, and teachings/practices I wholeheartedly believe could benefit each and every person on campus. So, as we collectively come out of what has undeniably been another majorly divisive shift here at the Academy, I think now is the perfect time to focus on re-centering, relaxing, refreshing, and rejuvenating ourselves.
Over the course of this weekend, myself and several other amazing students here will be hosting a series of workshops, all designed to help everyone get back to what really is important- mental, spiritual, and emotional health, as well as bonding and building positive and healthy relationships with those around us. These workshops will be interactive, educational, but most of all, they’ll be fun! Now, you don’t have to attend every single one to participate in the retreat, feel free to pick and choose which most speak to you! But, below I’ll leave a list of the workshops, including times, locations, and short descriptions of each. If everyone who wants to participate could reply letting me know which workshops you plan to attend, AND WHO YOUR PARTNER WILL BE for the partners workshops that would be great! Please remember that if you don’t have a partner, please let me know so I can pair people up! I want to make sure I have enough supplies and space for all! I’m really looking forward to this, and I hope to see everyone out, even if it’s just for one or two! As motivation, for every workshop you attend, your name will be placed in a raffle for a large prize-basket, the contents of which will include but not be limited to gift cards, self-care kits, yoga supplies, art supplies, and a few fun but educational books/materials to help in your quest for relaxation and self-discovery!
SATURDAY-  10:00 AM: Morning Meditation Workshop- Learn about the mental, emotional, and physical benefits of participating in morning meditation, while gaining the practice you need to participate on your own! 11:00 AM: Food and You- Cover the basics of nutrition, the importance of reading food labels, and learn about the real impact your diet has on your body- physically, and otherwise. 12:00 PM: Journal it Out- Spend an hour discussing various journaling techniques and types, as well as its benefits! Participants will receive their very own leatherbound journals to take from the workshop! 1:00 PM-3:00 PM: LUNCH 3:00 PM: Mental Health and You- In an ever-changing world, where opinions on mental health, its definition, and how to best help and improve it are constantly being shoved into our faces, take the time to learn about the true meaning of mental health, how to recognize the warning signs of fatigue and burnout, and what steps you can take to prevent things from spiraling! 4:00 PM: Yoga for Beginners- Join us for this session on the basics of yoga, including discussion of its health benefits. Get started on your yoga journey! Each participant will receive a free yoga mat to take back with them!
SUNDAY- 11:00 AM: Art Therapy- Join a fun session centered around the benefits of using art to cope, improve mood, mental health, and as a de-stressor from life’s pressures.  12:00 PM: Music Therapy- Learn the benefits of using music as a medium to improve mental health, work through stress and emotion, and as a way to relieve yourself of life’s tension.  1:00 PM-2:30 PM: LUNCH 2:30 PM: Couples Yoga- The benefits of yoga go beyond those achieved on your own. Learn how to strengthen your relationship while strengthening your core with this couple’s yoga how-to. *THIS WORKSHOP REQUIRES PARTICIPATION WITH A PARTNER 3:30 PM: Who Are You, Anyway?- A workshop focused on YOU! Spend time in discussion forums, taking self-discovery quizzes, and learning about understanding all the things that make you, you! 4:30 PM: Sexual Healing- End this weekend retreat with a workshop that offers exactly what it sounds like- tips and education on foreplay techniques, exploration and demonstration of various kinks, erotic massage, and other methods of self-care through sexual discovery and healing. Everything is energy in this universe – this is not just believed by those of us who are spiritual beings but also by various prominent scientists. Nikola Tesla’s famous quote “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration”, just proves how scientists for years have been suggesting us to be mindful of our energy and vibrations.
In fact, a few scientists have also quantified the vibrations of various moods and states of being of a human being’s mind.
Such studies only confirm what spiritual gurus have been trying to tell the world for years, i.e., when you are vibrating higher, you are happier and calmer. On the other hand, when you are vibrating lower, you are sad, angry and irritated.
A study by Dr. David Hawkins is one such substantial example. Thus, it becomes crucial to understand how to raise your vibration and make the best out of your life.

‘Raise Your Vibration’ – Meaning
When we say that everything is made of energy, we also have to understand that this energy vibrates at different speeds. If we are made of atoms and we have our own energy then it becomes paramount for us to ensure that this energy vibrates at a rate that can make us our best versions. Raising your vibration essentially means turning your life in the direction of happiness, satisfaction, and productivity.
Some events may look like a mere coincidence to you but in reality, you attract your own vibration. If you are vibrating higher, you attract the same kind of frequency. This is also the reason why you must believe that your life and its events are entirely in your hands. All you have to do is vibrate higher and attract what you want.
“The amount of time it takes you to get from where you are to where you want to be, is only the amount of time it takes you to change the vibration within you. Instant manifestation could be yours if you could instantly change the vibration”.
– Abraham Hicks
Why Should You Raise Your Vibration?
To take charge of your life
To attract positive things in your life
To control your emotions
To feel happy, satisfied and productive
To utilize your maximum potential
To live your best life
To feel at ease
To eradicate hate, fear, and anger from your life
To create love, compassion, and hope in your life
How to Raise Your Vibration and Live Your Best Life?
How to Raise Your Vibration?
Many times we feel low and we want to increase our vibration to be more confident and attract positive things in life. Here are some ways to raise vibrations when depressed –
1. Eat high-frequency food
High vibration foods are nuts, honey, chocolate, rice seeds, herbal tea, etc. These food items have high energy and help you feel good instantly. This can also work as a simple experiment you do with yourself to understand the importance of higher energy.
Eating greens and cutting down alcohol can turn out to be the easiest way to increase your vibration. For some people, alcohol works as a depressant. To remain spiritually connected, you must cut down on your drinking habits and release toxins from your body.
It will make you feel fresh and energetic. The food you eat needs your maximum attention if you are planning to work on your energies and vibrations. You have a reason to eat healthy now.
2. Meditate
Another higher vibrations inducing activity is meditation. Proven as one of the most effective tools to keep you grounded and in touch with your reality, meditation is something that everyone should indulge in.
Early morning meditation and bedtime meditation are the most effective ways to shift your vibration and keep negative emotions away.
We know for the fact that happiness and pleasure are linked to some neurotransmitters such as endorphins, dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. It is scientifically proven that meditation triggers the brain to release these neurotransmitters.
Many people complain that they don’t get time to meditate but taking out 5 minutes of your busy schedule for something that is only going to make your life productive and fill you up with positive thoughts, is worth an effort.
3. Do physical activity
People often suggest you hit the gym when you complain of anxiety and depression. While we are in the state of pain and misery, we don’t like to entertain the suggestions that seem shallow to us but in reality, these suggestions are indeed the opposite of shallow.
They are helpful and stimulating. It shifts your vibrations and increases your vibration. Activities such as running, yoga, gymming, Zumba, etc ensure that your mental health remains good.
Doing all these activities trigger your hormones and neurotransmitters, which in turn, gives you energetic frequency. It is always a healthy choice to take out time for such healthy activities to make your life its best version.
4. Reduce the usage of internet
In this era of technology and social media, it seems almost impossible to cut down the usage of social media but one must understand that disconnecting from the matrix once in a while, can save you from a lot of negative thoughts and low-frequency emotions.
We live in times when we feel it is an absolute necessity to check our social media feeds after waking up and before going to bed. However, studies have proved again and again that doing so creates anxiety and depression.
Seeing other people’s lives creates jealousy, hate, and anger. To not feel a low vibration level, you must unplug yourself from the Internet and live some mindful moments. You can make it a rule to not touch your phone every few minutes.
You can also mindfully choose not to use your phone right after waking and before going to bed.
5. Bathing
It may be a little difficult for you to believe that a simple and regular activity such as bathing can change your state of mind and increase your vibrations, in addition to making your body feel fresh. The idea is to use perfect essential oils, fragrances, salt, and organic body wash.
The whole process detoxifies your energy fields and helps you align your chakras. In Native America, smudging with cedar, sage, and lavender is considered to be the best energy cleanser. You can smudge your surroundings, objects and yourself to raise your vibrations.
6. Spend time with high vibration people
It is highly common for people to feel depressed or burdened but not knowing the reason behind it. It is possible that your surroundings are vibrating at low speed. To feel elated and positive, it is necessary to have a surrounding that is uplifting and positive.
You must be mindful of your friend circle and observe the pattern. You must consider how you feel when you are around your so-called friends. Ask yourself if you like yourself when you are around these people. Do you feel motivated and happy around your close friends?
Do they inspire you to do better in life and appreciate you for the good things that you do? If you have friends who let you down, it is time to maintain some distance. Pay attention.
7. Spend some time in the surroundings of nature
Mother Nature is uplifting. No matter what you are going through in life, if you spend time around the beauty of nature, you are bound to feel elated and happy. The green color will surely increase your vibration and shift your vibration level. It also helps you declutter yourself and your life.
This is the reason why when you sit on a top of a hill overlooking the entire city, you feel rejuvenated and calm. After spending some time with nature, you can almost hit a restart button, get clarity and start all over again.
8. Listen to music that is vibrating higher
Music is an integral part of everyone’s life. We all spend hours listening to music in our house, car, and workplace. By being mindful, we can convert this everyday practice into high vibe activity. All you have to do is just listen to music that is vibrating higher.
Music has vibrating energies and you can check at what speed each song is vibrating at. Consider music as something that you consume and just like food, you can’t consume anything that makes you feel depleted. Make sure the lyrics of a song are not making you feel sad or disappointed.
9. Be giving and loving
There is no greater joy than loving someone with all your heart and giving without expecting anything in return. Law of attraction teaches us that if we are loving and giving then we are likely to receive the same energy from people. However, make sure you don’t do things to accept anything in return.
Let this be a natural process. Loving someone with all your heart fills you up with all the goodness of the world including hope. It is a highly stimulating activity that can raise your vibrations manifold.
10. Show gratitude
Spiritual gurus, time and again, have suggested practicing gratitude every day to enhance the quality of our life. All you have to do is take out 5 minutes every day to be thankful for all the great things in your life.
You should not forget the value of the smallest of things in your life. Showing gratitude is the same as inviting good things in abundance in your life. You can always find things that you are grateful for such as your parents’ love, weather, clear sky, etc.
You can notice that when you are feeling gratitude, you can’t feel any other negative emotions such as anger or hate. So, make sure you show gratitude to increase your vibrations and positive energy.
11. Accept and forgive
It gives you immense satisfaction and peace when you begin to accept people and situations for what they are. There is no denying that sometimes it gets really difficult to make peace with your circumstances but with practice, you can learn to forgive yourself and others.
Sometimes, what weights you down is your own expectations from yourself or from others. When you begin to accept people as they are and forgive them for the mistakes they commit, you make it easy for yourself.
Emotions such as blame, revenge, disappointment, etc are low vibrating emotions and you don’t want to indulge yourself in them. To amp up your vibrations, accept and forgive.
NOTE
If you can start implementing all these techniques in your life, you can begin to live your best life.
12. Be Mindful of Your Thoughts
Our thoughts design our lives. And this is why it is important to pay attention to it. However, our minds always roam from positive thoughts to negative thoughts. Thus, our focus should be on creating a balance. You don’t need to force positive thoughts in your mind nor need to repel negativity. Simply, have a neutral pose.
For this, just sit down with a calm mind and try to pay attention to how your thought process works. Is it going towards negativity? Are you trying to make it positive? Whatever it is, your mindfulness will bring a balance to make it rhythmic with your vibrations. And by and by, this will help in raising your vibration.
13. Appreciate Your Life
As per the law of attraction, what you think you become. And this makes a lot of sense in concern with our vibrational energies too. In other words, if we focus our senses or energies towards the goodness or positivity around us, the cosmos will replicate it in our lives. Thus, it is very important to shift your energy access to positivity.
In real life, you can take it as the choices you make. Like, instead of cursing your life, continuously nagging, or finding faults, it is better to appreciate what you have got. So, have you had a delicious meal? A cozy home or a loving partner? Well, anything and everything that makes things better including your whole life – appreciate it as bliss!
14. Drink a Lot of Water
Water helps our body in getting rid of toxins. And this directly boosts the vibrational levels to make it of higher frequency and starts positive processes in the body. Thus, drinking a lot of water makes sense in this regard.
Also, science favors the point that staying hydrated makes us more energetic, active, and healthy overall. So, it is an easy way to raise your vibration.
Now, although drinking water is quite beneficial for you, don’t overdo it. By this, experts mean that one should listen to the body’s demands.
So if you are feeling that you are already hydrated or you’ve got enough water and aren’t thirsty, there is more harm than good in forcibly drinking more water. Also, make sure the water you are drinking is clean and pure.
15. Cut on Addictive Substances
Whatever substance we intake has its own positive or negative effects on our bodies. And any kind of addictive substance, be it alcohol, drugs, tobacco, weed, etc. may cause an ebb to our inner vibrations.
Thus, to maintain positive energy, it is suggestible to avoid any kind of addiction. Although you can have it for medicinal purposes if needed, still it is preferable to keep it low and cut on the high doses or consumption.
Hence, if you are highly addicted to something, it is best to go for therapy or professional help to get rid of it as soon as possible. You can do it by yourself with dedication and positivity.
And don’t pick it again anyway. Remember – your inner strength should guide your life, not the negative peer pressure.
16. Have Compassion
For raising your vibration, one of the most important things to embrace is kindness. Love and compassion are the emotions that make us human. Of course, these are the crux of emotional wellbeing and mental health. However, compassion can play a vital role in raising your vibrations too.
Positive emotions like compassion, empathy, love, etc. bring a sense of positivity and calmness to our inner selves. And this positivity helps in raising the vibrations of the body.
So be kind and compassionate to everyone. This will help you to raise your energy and to feel inner calmness. At the same time, don’t forget to include yourself in your range of compassion. You deserve your compassion before anyone else. Thus, a step towards mindful self-compassion is also needed.
17. Consume Positive Media
In this era of social media, everything seems overwhelming. There is a constant sense of show off, comparison, guilt, and jealousy hovered over the virtual world. This is why experts suggest being mindful in choosing what media to consume. This includes everything from books, songs, movies, to news, social media posts, blogs, etc.
Thus, start cutting the toxic media around you. For this, ask yourself – is this media making me feel negative, gloomy, jealous, or any such kind? If the answer is yes, leave it immediately. Instead, go for positive, growing, empathetic media that makes you feel good and eventually raises your vibration.
18. Surround Yourself with Aesthetics
Beautiful, calming, and pleasing things fill us with a sense of positivity. And this helps in raising our vibrational levels too. This is why many mental health coaches advise being in a positive surrounding. So, when you are ready to shift your energy from negativity to positivity, it is great to do it better with this little step.
Indeed you can simply choose to keep more positive colors, signs, symbols, patterns, pictures, artifacts, etc. around you. Be it a little keychain to the curtains of your home, or your working desk at the office, etc. try to make it more visually pleasing and aesthetic.
However, this does not mean being gaudy or being too materialistic. Instead, it’s just about playing with little things, adding a special touch to make it simple yet aesthetic.
19. Make High-Vibrational Relationships
The kind of people you stay with makes a great impact on your vibration level. Being in good relationships or with people who emit a sense of trust, calmness and positivity attract positive vibrations in your life.
Good relationships bring little changes in your thought process too bringing unconditional loving behavior, kindness, warmth, etc. in your nature. These raise your vibrational frequency and start the cycle of receiving more joy, love, and miracles in your life.
Thus, take a move to deepen your connection with positive people. Tell them how they matter in your life, give them some time, share your joy with them. And eventually, these beautiful bonds will help you in raising your vibrations too.
20. Be Conscious of Your Environment
Have you ever had a sudden negative feeling or felt a kind of uneasy sensation lingering at a place? On the other hand, there are some places which bring us a kind of inner joy and calmness.
This is because every environment has its own positive or negative vibrations. So when you enter a place with low vibrational levels, you generally experience negative thoughts surging around. The same is the case in a positive environment.
Thus, it is important to manage your vibrational levels according to the environment you are in. For this, the gospel is to be conscious.
For instance, if you are in the company of some toxic people, being conscious of this will help you in understanding your environment and maintaining your pose so that it doesn’t harm you. Similarly, being conscious of your positive environment will help you in raising your vibrations.
21. Listen to Your Inner Child
In the race of life, we often get so indulged in everything that we forget to listen to our inner children. Ask yourself – when was the last time you did what you wanted without having a second thought or guilt trap? Yes, this includes those simple little things like eating candies, enjoying the rain, dancing insanely, and so on.
The point is – your inner child knows better about the secrets of the cosmos than the grown-up you. Don’t agree? Well, look at children. They always have a sense of natural positivity. Of course, this means higher vibrational levels.
Indeed, the thing you can do to raise your vibrations is to be a child again. So, try to be more free, natural, avoid overthinking, and embrace positivity. Yes, it won’t happen in a moment. But it will. After all, it’s all about trusting and developing by and by.
22. Have Self-Love & Care
As already said, love is something that can change everything for good. And we often try to embrace it well. But the biggest pitfall is when we restrict this love and care for others only. In trying to be the so-called strong you, don’t be the harsh one. Embrace your delicate emotions, fear, needs, everything. And with equal love and care as you would do for your dear one.
This simple step of self-love brings positivity to life. This helps to raise the energy frequency to vibrate at a higher level. So, whenever you feel upset or like a failure, be your helping hand. Do what you love, eat something delicious, have a soothing massage,… after all you deserve it too!
23. Go for Clarity
Thoughts and words pave the way for one’s life perspective. Like, when you are quite entangled in this and that in your thoughts, your life seems equally cluttered and tiring. On the other hand, when you are calm and clear, everything seems smooth and perfect.
Why does this happen? Because your thoughts affect your vibrational levels. And this is why it is important to adopt clarity of thought process to raise your vibrations.
For this, you can begin with small steps towards clarity. To begin with, set an intention to declutter your thoughts from time to time.
You can do this by scheduling an inner cleaning time each day. Like, at bedtime, before sleeping just have a quick recap of what ‘valuable’ you did today. Next, decide what important thing you want to do tomorrow. That’s all. You’ll see the difference yourself.
24. Practice a Morning Ritual
The first thing we do in the morning has a strong connection with our vibrational levels. And holistic practices and morning rituals can play a vital role in raising our vibrational levels to high frequencies.
This is why spiritual gurus and holistic coaches focus on cultivating practices and habits like morning rituals. Such practices give a positive start to the day, energize the body, and activate the mind.
Morning rituals can be anything like yoga, meditation, praying, sun gazing, etc. It doesn’t need to be a religious practice or otherwise. Just remember that it should make you feel good and positive. So, go for something based on your inclinations. And try to embrace it as a positive morning habit.
25. Keep a Journal
You must have heard from time to time about the pros of writing a diary or a journal. However, the point that it can help you to raise your vibration might be something new for you.
While writing a journal, the process is to be mindful of yourself and to consciously think about it to record it well. In this way, you go through your inner emotions, turmoil, etc., and release any kind of toxicity disturbing you. Thus, the whole process works as a kind of wellbeing practice. And it can help in raising your vibrations too.
Hence, set a time to journal writing. Spend time to reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and write down whatever comes to your mind. It should be natural. And as an extra plus, you can read it for motivation when feeling down.
26. Expand Your Creative Wings
Creativity works as a crux of self-exploration and personal development. Besides, it can help in raising your vibrations too.
Engaging in anything creative makes you happier and fills you with positivity. And this positivity can, at the same time, help in raising your vibration levels. Thus, creativity is something that should have a special corner in your life. And it can be anything.
For instance, if you are into painting, art, or calligraphy, it’s great to pursue it. If you are more into dance, creative writing, or music – it’s great too. The point is about indulging in something that you heartily enjoy.
Also, it is crucial to keep it natural. That is, do not force yourself to pursue it. Rather keep it as a hobby or something that you do when you need quality self-time.
27. Look for Beauty
Our world is filled with so much beauty. A delicate bright blooming flower,  a laughing child, the morning sun, and the starry sky… Well, there is so much to look for in life. At the same time, these little glimpses of beauty fill us with peace.
This can help us in vibrating to the higher levels too. Thus, look for the beauty around you and make a move in making the world more beautiful.
You can do this in some simple ways. Like, make a stranger happy by helping or complimenting him/her.
These small efforts in your day to day life, done without expecting anything in return, can give you true joy and peace. Of course, this will raise your vibrations too.
29. Laugh Your Heart Out
The energy vibrational levels of a person depend a lot upon how the body feels at the time. In other words, when you are physically free, comfortable, and in a good mood, your energy vibration levels are naturally towards the higher side.
So, it is advisable to adopt simple yet effective ways like laughing to lift your mood and to raise your vibration level.
Thus, to access a higher frequency level, make a point to laugh. But how? Well, you don’t have to overthink. Simply, don’t bind yourself. Be it a silly meme, a casual banter, an insane party, enjoy every moment. And in that way, laugh naturally. This will create a positive aura around you.
Hence, not only yours but the vibration level of others around you will also raise.
30. Stretch & State Out Loud
Feeling gloomy, upset, or in low vibrating states? The best way to instantly activate or energize yourself is to stretch your body. As already said, physical activities can be quite helpful in raising the vibration levels. Besides, you don’t need to be a gymnast or something to do this. Simply move your body to stretch it or pandiculate when feeling low. And this works.
Also, there’s another way to raise your vibrations instantly. It is – saying out loud. Like, after getting up in the morning if you are feeling tired or low, simply say something positive loudly.
It can be something as simple as – ‘This is a beautiful day’, or ‘I’m feeling great!’. By saying these, you give your mind the hints that everything is good. This creates a positive impact on your mind and eventually helps in raising your vibrations.
31. Smudge Your Space
Vibrational energy has a direct relation to the living space of a person. Since most of the time spent in a day is in this space, it is important to make it more positive. And the easiest way to do this is to smudge the space.
Smudging the space is a holistic way to get rid of any kind of negativity in the place or to raise its vibration levels. It is a common practice in many cultures too.
For this, one has to clean the house from an energetic perspective. This can be done by burning certain herbs and letting their smoke float in the space.
The herbs with certain medicinal properties not only works as a disinfectant but also helps in raising the overall vibration of the space. Just make sure to smudge space in the right way.
32. Say NO to Negativity
Raising one’s vibration levels is directly connected to getting rid of any kind of negativity. This includes negative people, negative emotions, wrong practices, and so on.
Thus, your focus should be on raising your energies to a higher level saying no to anything negative. You can do this quite easily. Simply, stay in touch with the right people, indulge in positive activities, and feel good about yourself.
And make a thumb rule to avoid anything that brings negativity to you. You can identify the situation for this. If feeling overwhelmed, nervous, anxious, burdened or anything like this, it means that something is wrong.
Identify the source of such negative emotions and try to solve it as soon as possible. This is crucial to maintain your sanity and high vibration levels.

21 Healthy Habits And Goals To Incorporate In 2021
Tumblr media
2020 was quite exhausting to be very frank both mentally and physically. For some, it was a chance to learn something new, slow down and focus on themselves but for others, it was mentally exhausting to the point that it led to laziness, procrastination, and delay in work without a proper routine.
In this blog post, we are going to cover 21 healthy habits and goals to maintain a balanced lifestyle.
I want each and everyone to take it slow and not put too much pressure to achieve all these goals at once because it takes time to build a habit.
All I want to say ‘Do not give up’
One and a half months have already passed and during the new year a lot of us must have set some resolutions for ourselves like we do every year.
Most of us are still going strong and that’s great but for those who feel like they are not able to keep up with their resolutions ‘It’s completely okay, you can still start’.
1) Prioritize Your ME Time
Having ME time is an important part of our daily life be it at night for a few hours after work or maybe on weekends when you have the whole day to yourself.
Watch your favourite Netflix show, take a nice shower, create a skincare routine wherein you pamper yourself by scrubbing, a nice face pack, and a face mask, eat whatever you feel like on weekends (cheat day), light a scented candle to uplift your mood
Try this scented candle which not only smells amazing but is super affordable at the same time. It instantly lift up your mood.
I have used their Rose, Ocean and Jasmine fragrance and it feels so good when you light up and listen to music or read a book. I mean there must be a lot of things you feel like doing but you can’t prioritize yourself throughout the week, these are just a few examples above.
I would suggest making the most out of your ME time.
2) Eat Nutritious Meals
Try to add fruits and vegetables to your diet.
I am not a fan of dieting at all and I try to eat homemade food throughout the week and have a cheat day on weekends just to balance out
Honestly, it is impossible to have too much homemade food or too much junk, we need to balance out.
One thing which I need to focus on this year is to include fruits in my diet because I eat less fruits and it’s not that I don’t like them but I just don’t know the reason.
Maybe I am too lazy to eat fruits
Anyways, include green vegetables in your meal throughout the week and fruits as well as it’s going to be good for your health, skin and also for your digestive system.
3) Drink More Water
I just can’t focus on how important it is to drink water.
It might sound basic but remember basics are the hardest to incorporate.
I know everybody knows the importance of drinking water but I would still like to state a few:
It keeps your skin healthy
Removes body waste
Improves digestion
Improves blood circulation
There are tons of other advantages but I have mentioned a few basic ones here.
A tip: Carry a water bottle with you wherever you go and refill after a few hours in case you are like me and feel lazy to go to the kitchen and get water.
4) Journaling
This is something that I started last year during lock down when things started getting pretty exhausting mentally and I wanted something to brain dump all my thoughts.
Journaling requires you to be true to yourself and be as transparent with your thoughts as possible.
There is no one to judge you, it’s just you and your diary.
Also, journaling helps you feel mentally relaxed and lets you reflect on certain situations and dilemmas going on in your life.
5) Schedule Your Sleep
My 2021 goal is to have a proper sleep cycle because 2020 has worsened my sleep schedule.
I used to sleep at 2 or 3 am most of the days in 2020 because of lack of motivation.
Get 7-8 hours of sleep in a flow and sleep early so that you can wake up on time.
It is going to make you look fresh in the morning instead of getting puffy eyes when you wake up. Also, it affects your health.
I am telling you all this because I have been there and it did affect my health and my face used to look super dull.
I am trying to improve my sleep schedule and trying to wake up early. Of course, it is going to take time but you have to be persistent.
6) Spending Time In Nature
If you want peace and need to calm your thoughts then being close to nature is the perfect answer.
It helps you reduce stress and increase your happiness.
Last year we were locked inside our homes and nobody was allowed to go outside.
Now that things are getting back to normal try to spend as much time in nature as possible.
Go to parks near your place, plan trips where you can be close to nature or maybe put as many plants as you want in your house.
7) Make Your Bed As Soon As You Wake Up
It is a good habit to make your bed as soon as you wake up as it prevents you from getting back to bed instantly and also reduces mental stress
Imagine you come back after work to a cluttered bed I am sure it is going to exhaust you mentally and now imagine if you come home to a nice, clean bed you will feel so relaxed.
So make sure you make your bed as soon as you wake up.
8) Social Media Detox
We all need a break from social media from time to time.
I mean there is no point in endlessly scrolling your feed and wasting your time and energy.
Social media is also one of the major reasons for procrastination.
Only follow people who inspire you and avoid following people who make you feel bad about yourself and fill you with negative or toxic thoughts.
Do not let anyone or anything question your identity.
Consciously, start giving your precious time to your friends and family instead of unnecessarily being on social media.
Set a specific time you want to use social media or set a limit.
9) Read Books
To be honest, I was never a big fan of reading books until last year when of course there was a lock down and we were trying to learn something new or build a nice habit.
That was the time I started reading books and the book that I read was a self-help one which changed my perspective to perceive life to a whole new level
The book is written by VEX KING named – GOOD VIBES, GOOD LIFE.
If you haven’t read this book please read it. It is an amazing one.
Written in simple language and something which is guaranteed to change your mindset.
I somehow love this new habit and I try my best to read a book daily for 20-30 min either in the morning or before sleeping.
You know until last year I was in no position to guide you why reading books is a good habit but now I am pretty sure that I am in a position to tell you.
It enhances your creativity, increases your knowledge and you know knowledge is never wasted.
You can use a kindle or paperback version, whatever you feel comfortable with. I prefer paperback so that I can be away from the screen for a few minutes.
10) Celebrate Small Wins
It is important to celebrate small wins in your life instead of being harsh on yourself.
Celebrating small wins will make you feel motivated to grow more in life and make you feel good about yourself.
11) Prioritize Meditation
Start by meditating 10-15 minutes each day if you are just starting out but I would say START.
There are a number of apps like Headspace, Calm, or Youtube where you can follow a guided meditation.
It is going to calm your mind and let you sit in stillness and reflect on your thoughts and emotions.
12) Set Boundaries
Setting boundaries should be given priority in life.
Do not entertain anything which makes you feel uneasy.
Also, learn to say NO when you don’t feel like doing a certain thing.
I know I know it is not easy to say NO to a lot of people and I am one of them.
I always feel like I am going to hurt the other person without realizing that the thing is being done at the expense of my happiness.
Another important thing, communicate with people and let them know if you don’t like a certain situation so that they know there is a thin boundary that they should not cross.
13) Being Productive/Organized
Okay, being organized is something that I suck at and I feel like I am telling you guys about so many weaknesses of mine.
But like so many of you I am also trying to be a better version of myself.
I really need to start planning a day or week ahead to stay productive in life because I am really bad at planning things
This is the reason I end up completing most of my tasks at the eleventh hour.
This is something that I need to focus on in 2021 so that I can make the most out of it.
Plan monthly tasks related to work or set weekly or monthly goals or plans. There are a lot of things you can do to stay organized.
Use either a dairy to write your to-do list or if you can then buy a productivity planner to keep you organized. There are so many productivity apps out there as well.
14) Get Therapy Or Consult A Counsellor
This is a serious topic which I need everybody to take seriously.
IT IS TOTALLY OKAY TO CONSULT A THERAPIST IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE SUFFOCATING FROM WITHIN
Do not care if anybody is trying to judge you because it’s your lie and nobody has the right to judge you in this matter.
Most people don’t normalize going to a therapist which I feel is so wrong.
It is so difficult for people to tell that they are seeing a therapist
Why?
People think anybody visiting a therapist is either crazy or has serious mental problems.
Especially after last year which took a toll on a lot of people’s mental health we need to accept the fact that it’s fine if we seek help.
I mean we all need help at some point or the other in our lives and there are certain things we do not find comfortable to share with our closed ones.
The fact is now it’s time to change our thought process and focus on our mental health more.
Normalize saying “I am visiting a therapist”
15) Slow Down And Give Yourself A Break
Last year became the year we all were forced to slow down in our lives.
Things didn’t go as planned and life became a bit complicated in a lot of ways.
We got so much time in our hands to self-reflect and learn so much about ourselves.
Instead of rushing through this year try to take things slow and take each day at a time.
I am in no sense asking you guys to not be productive, all I am saying is don’t put too much pressure on yourself or do not overestimate your goals.
Take one task at a time and give your best at it.
16) Create A Thin Line Between Spending And Saving
I mentioned this point in one of my previous posts where I mentioned how important it is to save money and not to spend it on unnecessary things.
Things you only desire but don’t need.
Again last year taught us the importance of saving money because when so many people were unemployed they relied on their savings.
Make a point to save as much as possible this year and in the coming year because life is so uncertain, you never know what is going to happen next.
17) Invest In Yourself
Invest in yourself means this year make a point to learn a lot of new things be it new courses or seminars, maybe a good workout or reading a new book, listening to a podcast.
Spending your time and money on something which will help you grow into a better person is the best choice you can make.
It’s good to unlearn and learn in life. Also, it’s a fact that knowledge is never wasted.
18) Stay Away From Toxic People
Stay around quality people because that’s the best gift you can give yourself.
Also, that is a sign of self-love.
I read an amazing post of Steven Bartlett on Instagram wherein he says
“Being selective about how you spend your time and who you spend your time with is a sign of self-respect.” –  Steven Bartlett
19) Practice Gratitude
One of the healthy habits which we tend to ignore is practicing gratitude.
Practicing gratitude is like a continuous journey which makes you feel good about life and gives a positive perspective altogether.
There are a number of ways you can practice gratitude –  by keeping a gratitude journal, gratitude prayer and being kind.
I have written a detailed post on how effective practicing gratitude is for your mental health.
20) Declutter Your Surroundings
A decluttered space brings you positive vibes and a clear mental state as well.
Take some time out daily for 15 minutes to clean your space especially on weekends so that throughout the week you don’t have to stress too much over cleanliness.
At least make your bed daily in the morning as soon as you wake up.
21) Stop Being Afraid Of Failure & START
Failure is something which can paralyze your thought process and you are so afraid to start anything which makes you feel uncomfortable.
Start taking baby steps and do not worry about the results. Focus on learning new things throughout the journey.
Also, remember it is okay to fail because at the end of the day you got to learn something new.
If you don’t start anything which makes you feel uncomfortable you won’t ever come out of your comfort zone. Also, you never know when these small steps can give you big results.
Words From The Lagom Lifestyle:
It’s high time we need to focus on ourselves and take care of our mental health.
Don’t be in a rush to take up all the goals together and go on with one at a time.
You have a full year to try these new habits and enjoy the process. Take things slowly and do not rush anything.
You might feel these are so basic points that I have mentioned but trust me sometimes the basics are the hardest to keep up with.
All the best for this New Year. I wish we could have the courage and move towards our dream life
Lots of Love, Sejal

Spiritual Blog
Have you strengthened your well-being during these times that we are just stuck at home and wandering around the house? Have you tried to meditate? It is necessary to seek a meaningful connection with something bigger than yourself. To fish for your life's purpose. Spirituality gives us a sense of peace, wholeness, and balance among all the aspects of our lives. We could precisely open our hearts and have a flourishing life. Strengthen your spiritual wellness.
In the morning, take a moment to thank the Lord, God, for waking you and your loved ones. Having a conversation with God makes you healthy spiritually. Open your heart and talk to God. Meditate. Meditation helps improve breathing and it makes you calm and relaxed. Singing the Word of the Lord, leads your spirit to a positive vibe and calming soul. It also leads your heart to the Lord. I recommend listening to this song in YouTube, Hillsong - The Greatest Commandment. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and the greatest commandment.” (Matthew 22:37-38). Go out, appreciate nature.
Tumblr media
Dishonesty just makes yourself feel at ease, nevertheless why not tell the truth?Approaching is better than just accepting the fact that can still be changed. Getting mad is not a solution to a problem, take a deep breath, and calm down. Getting exhausted from a bunch of tasks and losing appetite to accomplish it? Take a break, maybe you just need to lie down for a while and rest. Cooking a dish for your loved ones, makes you feel happy and connected to the person you cooked for.
Tumblr media
Yoga leads an individual's consciousness to perfect harmony between the mind and body. Yoga has a lot of benefits. It increases flexibility. It tones and increases muscle strength. However, whenever I do yoga, I feel positive vibes. Do you feel the vibe too?
Tumblr media
Keeping a spiritual journal helps improve mood and keeps track of the things you do. Finally, praying the Holy Rosary and reading the Word of the Lord not only strengthens our spirit but also gives us peace of mind and lifts our burden. It makes our faith grow. Reading the Word of the Lord helps us understand God's Will, and gets us to a closer relationship with the Lord. Praying the Rosary touches our hearts and leads us to a healthy life.
Tumblr media
To sum up everything that has been stated, spiritual activities is necessary to understand your life's greater purpose. Despite the things happening in the world, we have to stay strong and maintain a connection with ourselves. We have to open our hearts for ourselves and to the Lord. Thank God for everything He has done. Meditate for yourself. Appreciating nature reduce hypertension and illness. It also improves vitality and mood. Always give yourself a break. Lie down and rest your back. Show your love for someone by doing special things such as cooking food, doing chores, etc. Do yoga. Pray the Rosary and read the Word of the Lord. Here's a tip for you: Trust in the name of the Lord for He will never fail you.
You don't have to struggle in silence. Take action and the struggle will flee from you.
"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil." - Ephesians 6:11

10/25/2020
Took me awhile to realize it but yep. I am. Depressed. Feeling numb. Don’t feel joy, don’t feel sad, hobbies aren’t doing it for me, no motivation to do them, awful sleep patterns. No motivation to work out or right or.
Damn was it not just last week I wrote about how working out felt great? And now I’m like, “Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh.”
SIGHHHHHH.
23rd - Daniel and I ate fast food. Watched baseball. I was depressed. Our bed broke so Daniel and I have been sleeping in the office, which is a dream come true. I love sleeping on a futon. It was rough for us to get used to ‘cause... It made me realize what a big butt I have. Like. Lying on my back, my butt is like, “Let me fuck up your spine.” I definitely need a mattress as much as I enjoy a futon on the floor. Sob. Stupid thick body of mine. Why can’t I be those Asian goddesses who are perfect in every way?!
24th - More depression. Avoid talking to friends. Don’t even want to play video games. Just drown myself in puzzles. Reading manga ain’t doing it for me. Puzzles weren’t doing it for me. Even though I talked to Alex about how crosswords made me happy. I talked to Alex a lot that day, actually! I was trying not to but I was having fun so we just kept talking. Fuck. She was talking about weighing herself and losing weight and it made me feel like a fat fuck. Even though I’m happy for her and it made me motivated! I was also like, christ I’m fat. But sometimes I’m fine with my weight ‘cause minorities dig the thickness? And I’m mostly healthy?? So why do I wanna lose weight? To fit the Asian ideal even though I’m not interested in wooing an Asian?? To show my family up? It just makes me seem like I don’t have a good reason to lose weight.
Honestly. I like working out just ‘cause I feel good but definitely, in the back of my mind, I wanna lose weight. And none of them are for good reasons. It’s weird. I’m also very, “Fuck my family.” But at the same time there’s a lot that’s like, I want to impress them. It’s very. Contradictory. If I try to see what I want though... My self. It’s to tell them to fuck off. I don’t want their approval and I don’t need it.
So what is this part that wants their approval? Hm.
25th - Daniel and I fell asleep so I doubt I’ll go to bed in time and I will fuck myself for work this week with the lack of sleep and thus get more depressed. At least it’s cooling down. Daniel made a tasty dinner. WE went to the grocery store and it was HELL. I’m never doing errands on a weekend ever again! We were supposed to go to Ikea to fix the bed but took a nap instead. I love naps.
A part of me is like. Wow. Wish I could stay up forever and do project.s THen another part is like, dude. Sleeping is so fun. As Bomb the music industry says, do i have to wait til I die before I get a good night’s sleep?
Daniel made steak and garlic mashed potatoes and I was depressed.
But! I realized I was depressed (finally) and decided to journal ‘cause I know it helps and... I wish I could be more consistent. With the journaling and the meditation and working out every day. BUt I gotta change that perspective. Instead of being mad about the days I missed, I gotta be proud of the days I managed to do it. So I did it! Just the journaling so far today but that’s more than not doing anything! Yeah yeah!
On another note, feeling more and more disconnected from the youth of today. In a good way. I should think about having kids soon but I’m still like... ehhhhhhhh. BUt I’m at that age where any older and I will fuck myself over.
Ehhhhhhhhhh.
Oh yeah. I did try to draw today. But instead it just didn’t come out well ‘cause I wasn’t feeling it and I stopped and I just.
Dude. Depression SUCKS. BOY HOWDY DOES IT SUCK.
SELF LOVE TIME BABY
I am mindful of the ways my body causes me shame, embarrassment, or unhappiness. How often do I focus on what I hate about my body? How can I show my body more compassion? Today I will write a letter of love and gratitude to my body.
Um. Wow. Ok. I don’t read the prompts ahead of time so can I just way? Wow? Kismet?? Could this be any more fated? Damn.
Ok, ok.
Dear Body,
Honestly. You’ve been a prince among men. I know I fucked you over in college when I didn’t eat for 3 days causing a sudden weight gain when you were like, “Wow, we really gotta store fat ‘cause where are you living??” So you’re just trying to watch out for me. And y’know, it has worked. There are some days I’m just too depressed to eat and the fat stores kept me alive.
You go along with me when I work out and you’ve been building muscles. Sorry I don’t take better care of you. But after reading so much Cells at Work, I worry about all the infections and shit. I hope you keep doing well. I’ve been very healthy and happy so far. I can’t run a marathon, but I can run around. I can hike. Thanks to you. Especially during the pandemic.
Sorry I fucked up our teeth too but they’re doing pretty well, all things considered. Also, we’re lucky about the lack of acne problems, eh? That alwys seemed like such a pain in the ass. Also, brain, you’re sorta fucked up but ain’t your fault.
I’ll try to take care of us better.

33 Stimulating & Satisfying Activities to Do During Social Distancing
By Leighana Martindale
It’s an absolute bonkers time right now! Many of us are feeling anxious, fearful, depressed, and so many other intense feelings from the Coronavirus and hysteria surrounding it. Most of the world is currently partaking in social distancing, a lockdown, or quarantine. Either way, that’s a lot of free time at home!
Instead of falling into a negative pattern we can choose to do things differently, instead of scrolling on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook or binge watching Netflix we’ve brainstormed 33 stimulatory and satisfying activates you can do at your house. Don’t drag yourself down by consuming so much social media, news, and junk content. Fear lowers your immune system and now is the time to be building it up.
We all have the chance to use this as a learning opportunity, to focus on the projects we never have time for, to nurture our creative sides, and allow our inner child to come play! We have the ability to use this time to connect and grow.
33 Stimulating & Satisfying Activities to do During Social Distancing
*Safety Tip: Please keep in mind that some of these items only apply if you are not sick or experiencing symptoms. Not spreading germs is key right now so please don’t partake in activities that could jeopardize your health or other people’s health.
1. Breathing Exercises Breathing exercises are so good for calming and centering us. This can help combat the stress and anxiety you may experience. Corvid-19 has been nothing but stressful and if you haven’t been stressed once then you’re insanely amazing and I need to know what kind of goddess witch you are!
2. Yoga & Stretching This is another amazing way to connect with the body and ground yourself. When you are stretching or doing your poses, try to go slow and take your time. Mix these with your breathing exercises and really let gravity help relax and stretch your muscles. Especially your hips if you sit a lot.
3. Dancing This is such a great mood booster and something that may sound silly but will make you feel great! Make a playlist of your favorite jamz and get jiggy with it!
4. Exercise Helping combat stress again, breaking a sweat will you give you the happy endorphins which we all could use a little more right now. Plus we should be getting healthy and taking care of our bodies regardless!
5. Meditate Meditation is a great technique but one hard to master, give it a try and if you find you need help, Youtube has a lot of amazing guided meditations all varying to what you are looking for/need!
6. Collage Find some old magazines, newspapers, photos, or anything with pictures and make a collage! This can be time-consuming depending on how deep you get into but something really fun and satisfying when you finish.
7. Learn more about using CBD in your workout routines.
Give it try when/if you do any of the physical activities above.
8. Do a puzzle
Puzzles are so fun, especially ones that take you a while to figure out. Create a little corner in your home and start puzzling away. This is a great activity for keeping the brain sharp.
9. Deep clean your house Oh yeah, this one isn’t the most fun but damn is it satisfying! What better way to come out of a lockdown than with a squeaky clean house that you can get the fuck out of!
10. Organize your house Go through that junk drawer, fold all that laundry, match those socks, all the annoying organizational stuff we tend to put off is the perfect thing to cross of the list.
11. Create a donate bin
Definitely DO NOT do this one if you are sick, but if you are not - start a donate pile to take to Goodwill once we’re allowed to socialize again.
12. Upload items to Depop and/or Poshmark If there were items in your donate that you want to sell now is the perfect time to upload them to resale apps. Why not try and make some extra cash if you can?
13. Learn more about the birthplace of medical cannabis
Taking this time to expand your knowledge is a great way to spend your time so why not learn about the place that changed it all for legalizing cannabis.
14. Read some books Books are always are favorite and there are so many great ones! Check out our recommended reads here.
15. Watch Abstract on Netflix Definitely not the mind-numbing type of TV you might normally be attracted to, Abstract is a really amazing documentary on various artists who do a lot of nature like and perception based abstract art.
16. Watch Our Planet on Netflix Another great one, Our Planet is perfect to watch while stoned yet you still learn a lot about nature therefore making it okay.
17. Watch The Universe on Netflix Like Our Planet is The Universe which is a similar concept expect about space and one we would recommend.
18. Watch Unacknowledged on Netflix Finally, learn more about extraterrestrials and how they are peaceful from my hero Dr. Steven Greer. This is honestly the #1, absolute best and most credible documentary on aliens I have ever seen. Definite must watch!
19. Learn more about growing your own weed indoors Nothing like a time like this to make you think about growing your own, and I’m not talking about just vegetables but weed too. Self-sustainability is the true goal.
20. Learn more about Cannabis and the ancient science of Ayurveda
The word Ayurveda can be translated to ‘the science of life’ or the ‘the are of longevity’,
21. Practice learning another language There are tons of free courses on Spotify and Youtube. Give it a try!
22. Journal Check-in with yourself. Read previous journal entries and just connect with your deeper self. Sometimes it’s crazy what can surface when we just start writing.
23. Learn a new skill by watching Youtube channels There are SO MANY YouTube videos out there and on pretty much everything there is. So pick something that you’ve always been interested in and start learning!
24. Clean your computer files and desktop Oh yeah, not fun but SO necessary.
25. Delete photos from your phone Again, you’ve got a lot of time and when are you ever going to actually do it if you don’t do it now?
26. Delete old conversations from your phone
Yup, keep going. You’re going to be clutter-free!
27. Clear your email storage
Go through your inbox and delete any spam/promotions/ trash Definitely the most intimidating task but one that many of us need to do. Did you know all your emails take us physical storage on the server? So that means there are islands of servers out there taking up space and energy that hold your spam.
28. Call and catch up/check in with your family, friends, and any elders in your life.
Especially now, just do it. Even if you don’t get along that well, a little kindness can go a very long way.
29. Read up on local politics and prep for the election *Trigger warning: This may add wayyy more stress and anxiety but also it’s really important and the elections coming no matter way, so are the primaries. Be prepared.
30. Contact your mayor to ask for their plan on handling meals for children when the schools shut down
Many schools are shutting down, some school districts have made it a priority to provide meals for the children still because for many that is their only meal. So please ensure your community is feeding people who don’t have food.
31. Find out what efforts to feed people are going on in your community and see how you can contribute
Again, this is so important, if you think this is scary for you, just imagine someone who can’t eat now, has no home, is looking at getting evicted, etc.
32. Spread love not germs and practice your daily positive affirmations Positive affirmations, love, positive affirmations, love. Spread it, spread it, spread it! [not germs though].
33. Digital Detox Connect and share love. But also this can be overwhelming so do a digital detox one day. The amount of negativity in the air is inescapable if we are constantly feeding it to ourselves.
No matter what you do, just remember to stay safe, boost your immune system, and wash your hands!

It Takes 21 Days (and some more)
For a while now, my mornings start with chaos. Inside my head. Loud voices screaming out loud my worst fears, without a second's break, and almost always without my permission. Right before I open my eyes, the first thing I feel is dread and my system goes into survival mode to avoid the numbness the chaos will cause, which in turn would make it a feat for me to move around to get rid of the stagnant energy.  In those scary AF moments, I have two choices: either I can let the chaos swallow me whole before my day even gets a chance; OR, I can take MY power back in MY hands.
So, before my brain and body are able to register what's about to happen, the first thing I do is plug in my headphones and turn on a guided meditation. And then something akin to hope and relief takes over me.
The process of healing through learning to love and honour myself is NOT an easy project. On days, I feel invincible. Immediately after, I am back at my dreaded square one. And I am learning the hard but absolutely necessary way that there are no shortcuts. To get to your best most amazing version, you must sift through a whole world of shitty mess, Mary Kondo-ing whatever fails to bring you joy, no matter how unhealthily you may be attached to the shitty mess. I am, however, immensely blessed for during this time of wading (read: drowning) through shitty mess, I discovered the saving grace of guided meditations, affirmations and journaling. All three have one beautiful thing in common: teaching mindfulness.
Being mindful. If there is one thing in the past two years I have found to be life altering is beginning to learn the art of mindfulness. Mindful of every little joy in the present moment, mindful of every bite of food I take, mindful of every pang of heartache I feel, mindful of every word leaving my lips, mindful of attaching negative narratives to my thoughts. Just, being mindful. They say it takes 21 days for the brain to rewire. To replace old narratives and patterns with new ones; to replace toxic conditionings and habits with healthy ones. 21 days to gain momentum, and then you follow through with discipline, until it becomes the only way you've ever known. And so, after another slip-up sometime last month when I came scarily close to giving myself up wholly to the pull of my old 'comfort zone', i.e. fear and anxiety, I decided to give myself 21 days. 21 days of meditating twice a day, everyday; of taking time out to be mindful, to focus on breathing, and to realise that the biggest truth of all truths is that EVERYTHING we need is already within us. It is just waiting for us to tap into it. My life has not magically transformed. Nusrat Nasim Meraji has not become some radically optimistic woman (ouch, wish I could write 'girl' but at 27, feels kind of wrong) who no longer feels pain or has lows and goes about shitting glitters and puking rainbows. Or whatever myth one may hold in their head in relation to the expectation of how this ends.
My days are hard to begin. It takes a certain amount of will power to bring my hands to plug the headphones in and divert my body and mind from the turbulent weather it is flying through. There is fear and anxiety in whatever amount throughout the day, much of which I combat through journaling and YouTube: guided meditations, powerful talks and my 'high vibes' playlist (Paul McCartney on top of the list, ofcourse, what kind of monster do you think I am?!).
By mid-day, I find stability. By most evenings, I find my centre, I find calm. By bedtime, it's time for another meditation which helps me smile hard and feel so much gratitude for this beautiful life before falling asleep.
But the next morning, there is dread, again. There is chaos, again. Until I CHOOSE to put the headphones on. And then there is calm, again. And hope.
It all boils down to us making hard but conscious choices. You CHOOSING to start your day with a smiling and grateful heart, you CHOOSING to pick the healthy option for lunch, you CHOOSING to be compassionate in the face of battling the unkind. And you keep making these small choices, day in and day out, because you have CHOSEN to begin the journey of taking YOUR power back in YOUR hands where it rightfully belongs, rather than giving it away to circumstances, people and what-have-yous.
My headspace is far from perfect. My days and nights can be a struggle. But I have promised myself love, joy and respect. The kind I find easy to bring into the lives of so many I hold dear. I have promised to bring that into my life, singlehandedly.
To myself, from myself.
I have signed up for this knowing that there will misses, tumbling downs and falling headfirst. Sometimes, it will all get so overwhelming that I will come close to becoming the non-believer I fear. That being said, if there's one thing I know about myself with all the belief in the world, it's this: I don't break. And I get back up. Every. Damn. Time.
So, I'll be here. CHOOSING to make the hard decisions that will bring me closer to my authentic, best self. CHOOSING to plug the earphones in, even when despair tries it's goddamn best to wash over me. Every. Damn. Time.
