anyways i think that after the final events of the film where jack and paul """reconcile""" and it cuts off i think they do truly reconcile afterward. i dont think theres a bone in either of their bodies that is not enraged beyond belief over what the other has done to them but theres also no bone thats not wracked with guilt for what theyve done to the other in return. very deeply, they believe they owe each other. although it was jacks own fault for getting put in prison, i think paul very much does feel solely responsible for having ruined his whole family. (something something do we remember jacks "what do you know about it? what its like? to take someone's life and know that youve ruined so many others?" that he spat at clay.. i think paul knows very intimately) and he feels he owes jack what he can never give him. he owes him a son, for one thing. indirectly, he owes him a wife. he owes him a happy family he couldnt return to after doing so much time for a mistake that ended in the loss of a life and although it was pauls own fault for getting put in prison, for what its worth, what else did he have going for him? he had no stable family and no consistent friendships and paul was essentially forced to grow up impossibly fast and skip out on all the nice parts of growing up. having people who loved him. who wanted to take care of him. who knew him and who he didnt have to lie to. at the end of the day yes paul did it and it hurts jack more than he could ever tell him but hes so young... jacks already gotten his payback. god hes probably responsible for so much physical and mental damage and weeks upon weeks upon weeks of physical therapy that will get paul to a place that is funtional but nowhere near as capable as he was before. paul ruined his life but hes ruined pauls, too. in a way he owes it to him to take care of him for that. he owes paul some semblance of stability. and for jacks own sake, he needs to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesnt ruin anybody elses lives. to make sure nobody else hurts him.

in a nutshell i do think they stick very close together after their altercation. for the remainder of their sentences and to an extent once they get out, too. who else do they have, now? neither of them have anybody they want to see outside waiting for them. they have destroyed each others whole lives and they need to keep each other as close as possible because of it. theres no moving on from this whatsoever with what they know of each other and how theyve already bonded in the three months they were together. what can they do but stay that way? they will collect what they are owed from each other one way or another

I almost hate how much i switched teams from 2718 to abacus, but its just bc he's new and shiny and pretty and pushy. Well first of I want to clarify these are just superficial thoughts, so dont take most of these seriously, this is not a theory of a counterpart.

Part 5 and 8 spoilers btw

Imo they in canon have some similar traits (which makes me love them both) that I am going to talk about below:

-Double identity: This could be the most noticiable trait they share, Diavolo hides his true identity using Doppio for outside tasks, so the mafia never founds about him. Although Tooru, unlike him, only uses the Hospital Director as a facade to hide his intentions with the new Locacaca plant, among Yasuho & co, distorting about who was behind the control of the locacaca organization (although it ended up being too obvious for us). They both have power on their respective facade, Diavolo most of the time guides Doppio when he is struggling, but when there is some details that Doppio can overlook, he controls the body even if it is for a few short moment. And Tooru just can do it completely (except for controlling calamities) because Wonder of You, let's say, is "materialized" in the body of Satoru Akefu.

-They both lead a trafficking organization: Diavolo, as the mafia boss explain itself, and Tooru as the brain behind the Locacaca project. I personally think what Tooru is doing can directly count as "dangerous acts" but easier to ignore, he took it upon himself to bring the Locacaca fruit to Japan and discreetly sell it to rich people for a large sum of money, and even plan about selling it legally as a brand, after experiencing with humans and keeping as confidential most of the information. Both have their goal, Diavolo to become a supreme ruler of Italy through the power of his great mafia, and Tooru to restructure society in favor of his species and have recognition. And extra info, they both had traitors (la squadra members and Jobin respectely) which had a important role in the story.

-They were defeated by a sudden power up from the protagonists: Giorno was able to get the arrow and obtain requiem, ending up defining his victory against Diavolo. Now, however, I don't agree too much that the defeat of Wonder of You was only due to Josuke's Go Beyond, but also due to the important help of Paisley Park. Anyway, Josuke learned Go Beyond near the last moment, when the final battle already seemed defined by Toru's victory, I guess.

-Flashbacks with characters from previous parts: Polnareff began to investigate Diavolo about the arrows in Egypt, which ended in a fatal encounter between the two where Polnareff almost lost his life. He then went to Italy to continuing investigation and contact the Buccigang to talk about the Boss identity. Something very similar to Tooru and Lucy, Lucy was investigating about Locacaca with the little information there was, she went to Morioh to take a look at the Higashikata orchard, and after an almost mortal attack of a rock organism, she was able to see Tooru through a moment, who seemed to be planting one of the Locacaca plants. It is then explained that Lucy was able to return to America but never return to Japan again to continuing her investigation due to the start of the war and her subsequent death, I think that it is implied in a non-explicit way that this has happened as a result of a calamity, to keep Tooru safe from this investigation.

-Having an important bond with a character that is against them: Diavolo needed to kill Trish, his daughter, to be sure that his past is completely erased and no evidence remains. Trish didn't even know about this before and she ended up being saved by the Buccigang and then they finally decided to go defeat the Boss. Then there is Tooru who was Yasuho's ex and says that the memories he has with her are important. The relationship between Tooru and Yasuho is, for me, the true interaction between antagonist and protagonist, instead of the one Tooru has with Josuke, they almost didn't even interact directly.

These are for me the most similar traits excluding their personality and late presentation, which is something much more far-fetched and boring to read, hehe x) if someone have noticed another one or I miss something, be free to share it in comments I would enjoy to read them or correct what I wrote!

considering that this process seems to drop him most specifically in versions of the Parable where the narrator and Stanley are are in far more antagonistic/abusive relationships (and there are some considerations about that, about perhaps the fact he keeps getting dropped where he's "needed most") no, not really, to all three of these.

there's definitely some stanleys that are.... wishing their narrators could get along with them. but it's been framed by their narrators that it's their faults theyve been treated so poorly.

sometimes the Narrator wonders if he's being brought to places he's needed and that's why he hasnt run into a kinder iteration similar to himself, or if he really is the outlier and he wasn't supposed to ever change this much. maybe this is his fault and his punishment for wanting to be more.

then he decides "well, so what??? Im not going back! Im not going back to who I was before, I don't like that person!" and commits fully.

yes. absolutely. some of his escapes go much quicker than others.

yes, absolutely. some of them are just.... terribly sweet Stanleys who deserved much, much better. and he is so himself with them; gentle, fond, happy to bow to their every request and whim. when those ones leave, he tends to need longer to recover before beginning again.

he misses and loves his Stanley so much. he expects that someday Stan will move on from him and want to be with someone else, but he knows he's never going to be able to move on. every Stanley who reminds him of his Stan just reinforces that.

maybe 5-10 "escapes" in. he notices the patterns by this point and knows that he needs to get a feel for the relationship and general power level of the narrators he's dealing with before getting too intensely distracted helping a Stanley.

by the time the group is formed, there's at least 30 or so Stanleys who have gotten out. probably more; these are just the ones who span America, the UK, and Canada.

oh jee, my favorite things about my f/os heehoo- One of the first things that comes to mind is Smiley's accent.
