Jiang Cheng who sends his disciples to the infirmary for a bruise (what if there's an internal bleeding!) but shrugs off his own injury like nothing.
"Zongzhu, your shoulder is dislocated."
"Mn." Rams himself to a wall to snap the bones back to place.
"zONGZHU--"
.
.
Bonus:
the worrywart second-in-command who blamed Jiang Cheng's minuscule health issues to his past recklessness.
Jiang Cheng, after writing letters for 5 hours straight: ugh, my hand cramps.
Jiang Tianyue, the Second-In-Command: That's because you didn't go to the healer after you sprained your knee three years ago.

To get Shen Jiu to stop fighting off the qi deviation the system allows him to see how PIDW goes and gives him a choice, either go back and live that life or die and transmigrate into another world. A world where he'll be born with the highest potential as a cultivator and the highest pedigree. Shen Jiu chooses to leave. And he transmigrates into a noble child with great cultivation potential. Except it's Wen Ruohan's secret child and it's the end of the Sun Shot Campaign. Because Jiang Cheng is a tofu hearted person, Shen Jiu ends up at Lotus Pier where he becomes Jiang Cheng's most standoffish disciple because Shen Jiu knows young masters, Jiang Cheng might not be an absolute monster like Young Master Qiu but deep down they're all the same. So he waits for Jiang Cheng to show his hand, to drop his act. Except Jiang Cheng doesn't, he yells, he commands, he's arrogant as fuck but even when Shen Jiu riles him up, even when Shen Jiu drops hot soup over him ruining his second-best set of robes. Jiang Cheng screams at him but he doesn't hit him. Even after his political-nightmare of an unstable SIC runs off, he still supports him behind the scenes. Shen Jiu is a bit obsessed with this guy. After Shen Jiu bullies a younger disciple and Jiang Cheng picks him up slams him against the wall and tells him, that he's going to have to find another sect, if he thinks this kind of behaviour will be tolerated. Shen Jiu decides that if Wei Wuxian doesn't want to be SIC, it's high time the position went to someone qualified. Shen Jiu, youngest shidi of Yunmeng Jiang (and former SIC of Cang Qiong) is the man for the job.

MDZS fanfic ideas I have that most likely won't go anywhere and are mainly just titles atp
@fandom-trash-goblin ‼️
Wish You Were Sober (Chengxian but not necessarily outright)
Post Sunshot when Wei Wuxian is going out drinking everyday
Jiang Cheng being pissed about that (rightfully so, Jesus Christ)
They still love each other but it's hard when you're a sect leader and your SiC is dodging his responsibility's and by extension YOU
Jiang Cheng feels
Jiang Fengmian bashing
idk really I just felt like sharing
Modern AU Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling road trip
The end of the Summer holidays
And they have to get from Yunmeng to Lanling but Jin Ling's flight has been cancelled so Jiang Cheng has to drive him there
All types of shenanigans, for example:
Car breaks down
There's a storm so they have to stop for the night in this shifty ass motel
Jin Ling's awful (in Jiang Cheng's opinion) music
Jiang Cheng's awful (in Jin Ling's opinion) music
There isn't really anything dramatic or overly emotional about this
Just a bit of a laugh
Jiang Fengmian bashing (idk how but I will fucking get it in there idc)
Zhao Zhuliu/Wen Zhuliu is actually Jiang Cheng's real father AU (thank the Lord he looks like his mother)
Major Jiang Fengmian bashing obvs <3
pretty ooc except for Wen Zhuliu who doesn't really have a personality to mischaracterise
Wen Zhuliu being a bit #suspicious when Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian pull up for the Wen indoctrination
Just cause. how can anyone Like That be Jiang Fengmian's son??????
Anyways they're in the cave and Wen Zhuliu refuses to fight Jiang Cheng because by then he's worked out that the boy's birthday is like... suspiciously 9 months away from the last time he and Yu Ziyuan were last Together™
And bby is just like nope
not doing that today
Anyways burning of Lotus Pier and it all goes down the same
EXCEPT
Wen Zhuliu doesn't have anything to do with the death of Yu Ziyuan (if anything he's holding them all back)
Instead of taking his core, Wen Zhuliu takes that child out of Lotus Pier and straight to Wen Qing and renounces the Wen name, going back to Zhao Zhuliu (independent King, we love to see it)
Basically pledges pledges allegiance to Jiang Cheng and kinda follows him around like a guard dog for the entirety of Sunshot
OR
Wen Zhuliu doesn't make the connection of Jiang Cheng potentially being his son until he's got his hand in his chest and is melting Jiang Cheng's golden core
In this AU there'll be some weird thing where you have parts of your parents in your core I don't really wanna explain it
"Jiang Cheng’s golden core was strong for a seventeen year old and was filled with unbridled potential that only the son of the Violet Spider could hold or hope to live up to"
"It spills all over his fingers then onto the floor and he lets it, staring transfixed as his son’s livelihood falls through his fingers"
Basically, Wen Zhuliu gives up his core for Jiang Cheng via Wen Qing and surgery instead of Wei Wuxian and everything else plays out the same minus the demonic cultivation
Jiang Cheng still kills Wen Zhuliu however when he searches his robes he finds a letter addressed "Jiang Wanyin"
Edge of Seventeen (Jiang Cheng Sect Leader succession during Sunshot, potentially Zhancheng 👀)
Pretty much just a character study of Jiang Cheng
Set during the 3-6 months that Wei Wuxian was in the burial mounds
Lan Wangji being there when Wei Wuxian wasn't...
Not a fully fledged idea yet
Jiang Fengmian bashing <3

This is a chance to post your not-posted chengxian ideas if you have any. Please gimme gimme gimme gimme-
nonnie you've come at the sort of the right place. i'm like so late to fandom strolling without starbucks because in this house we boycott, and i'm sure this idea must have been done before. but. still. thanks for the ask, i put actual effort into this, hope you like it!! <3<3
A) to the point of invention AU
literally "i love you to the point of invention"
jiang yanli is at lotus pier and she dies :(. wwx and jc proceed to go absolutely feral and codependecy skyrockets
golden core melted-wwx in total breadown canon followed
until golden core transfer fails. fuck. dealers choice how
maybe smthing smthing jiang cheng wakes up to see he's being operated on. his brother lied to him about baoshen sanren and he's about to lose another sibling. #traumatised
both wwx and jc lose their core. they mad angry abt it, at the others throat- codependecy spirals. maybe they fuck. maybe they don't. anyways.
wwx invents demonic cultivation with the intent to protect-- he's mad about it being safe coz his shidi is gonna have to learn it to rebuild lotus pier and take revenge. they'd do it together. cue mad frenzy! wwx, jc handling it with the same ease he's done for years, and wen sibs watching this absolute clusterfuck wondering if these freaks are brothers or lovers or a secret third option.
demonic cultivation being so op and still mad safe because that's his shidi who he has to protect! . maybe they figure out how to power zidian through resentful energy
so you have DEMONIC CULTIVATORS! JC and WWX, both of them. rebuilding lotus pier, taking in E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E that passes their dodgy moral code. unconventional sect numero uno. super-effing-powerful. No. 1 power couple #lifegoals.
nobody knows whether these two are fucking or not. even i don't. parasitic relationship but like lichen.
Jin Ling don't exist (sad face) but Jiang Yuan, sect heir, new gen demonic + spiritual cultivator, all around powerhouse. his xian-gege and wanyin-ge are so so proud.
where's the rest of the world, isaac? where's lan zhan. oops. forgot about them. pretend they're avoiding the demonic cult. (baby there's so many holes in the plot that it's practically cartoon cheese.) I just know there's gonna be a lot of cultivation science. and politics. and worldbuilding. and wwx being shidifucker extraordinaire.
B) blur on the horizon AU
title from Lady Lazarus by Slyvia Plath. //my brother is still alive. still dead. was brought back with a lazarus shot and a slap to the face// when visibility's poor, i'm the blur on the horizon//
wwx dies. and wakes up. not in mo xuanyu's body.. but in some random cultivator's body. like. and year or two post siege or burial mounds
he travels straight to jc. lotus pier still be recruiting. the recruiters take in this shady man.. let's be real. everyone here is just as shady.
he get's the intro. gets shown the rebuilt pier, the rules and The List. The List being how to defend gongzhu from shitty people and shittier politics. he's so fawking proud bit also resentful and angry because he should have been there. twin prides on yunmeng, remember? (for once in my life let wwx be the more bitter one abt yunmeng shuangjie yeah?)
WWX tries to stay away from JC. but he can't. let's be real he cant.
he climbs up the ranks fast... everyone can see this man would give his life for sect leader jiang. cue Second in Command being WWX 2.0 . wwx, for his part is so bitter but also incandescently happy. man never met an emotion he couldn't twist.
Jiang Cheng is wondering why this random cultivator seems so familiar. it get's so bad that he uses zidian to check this one whether he's wwx every once in a while.
but Jiang Cheng is also so tired of seeing ghosts from the corner of his eyes. and jin ling likes this new SIC when he barely likes anyone apart from his jiujiu. he lets go a little. wwx can wait, for once in his life.
cue wwx gaslighting jc into thinking there's no way this one could be wwx. also him being conflicted because on one hand jc's starting to trust him, and this life is almost everything he's dreamed of, but on the other, he's doing this as Random Cultivator and not WWX, how could you forget me, Shidi?
again, for once in my life let wwx be the more bitter one abt yunmeng shuangjie yeah?
idk i havent resolved this one. but there's a scene where wwx finds out abt chenqing, and jc in a fit of anger, after a hell lot of provoking, talks abt how SIC should have been his brother's (the feared yilling laozhu's) and not some strangers. and jc thinks this guy's gonna run far away from the madman his sect leader is but he's only more loyal more sticky more everything? is everything alright up in his head??
C) digging your grave AU (attempted sexual assault tw. it fails and the man's dead.)
title from Richard Siken's / our father who art in heaven / our father who art buried in the yard / someone is digging your grave right now. /
all of jiang cheng's life, he's never been wanted first, yeah? His father prefers his elder, adopted brother. His mother prefers her work and if she has to interact with someone it's his elder sister. His elder sister's got her own life- a boyfriend madly in love with her- a future mother-in-law who's more of a mother than her own- and sometimes Jiang Cheng thinks even she prefers Wei Wuxian more than him. (jin guangshan was rich, and is dead, good riddance.)
the only one who's cared about him is Wei Wuxian- JC's always been his person for wwx. and that matters so much... here's the person who loves Jiang Cheng for himself, someone for who he isn't a disappointment.
so when one day, on the day of wei changze and cangse sanren's tenth death anniversary, jiang fengmian, drunk out of his mind, tries to kiss wwx, saying how he looks so much like his parents and jc watches it happen. he sees how wwx is so fucking scared.. his brother, his person, the only person who has ever mattered is terrified.. and he just. sees scared and so fucking angry that he doesn't think. it's red. grabs his mother's favourite vase, and smashes is against his father's head
there's a dead man on the floor, bleeding into the carpet. baby jc going hysterical that he killed his dad. and wwx is cold. he can think it through. he's been betrayed by a man he thought as a father... and there's no one he can trust anymore. he has to save jc.
they bury jiang fengmian in the backyard, and run. they dont look back.
years later, jiang fengmian is a homicide case, wwx is a deranged kidnapper and murderer still at large, and jiang cheng is presumed dead. meanwhile, there's two lovely men living in a backwater town, bickering like old married couples do, and it's so nice to see love is in the air. nothing strange about them, yeah? they must have had those old-fashioned prejudiced people for parents. good on them for running away.
@jcs-singular-slut-strand come see what i wrote!!

[JC has a protection squad]
Jiang Cheng | Mo Dao Zu Shi 20-01-2022
#jiangcheng and yunmeng jiang disciples
What if jiang cheng ends up with a protection squad around him all the time. Does he think he needs it? No. Did he ask for one? No.
Did his SIC (and every disciple) want to make sure he would be alright? Yes.
Maybe jc ends up like his mother and has two cultivators following him everywhere (maybe they get nicknamed spider too or snake) he most likely ends up really liking them despite his repeated "I don't need someone following me"
He ends up giving in after his SIC and head disciple spent a whole afternoon presenting *why* he needs someone with him at all times. What about that time people tried to rob him when he travelled? What about people who are trying to sabotage him?
What if he falls sick? Or get too injured like that time when JC had to travel all the way back to koi tower by himself with a broken leg and arm?
"I still survived all of these events without many problems" jc argues.
The look on his SIC face is enough to tell him this isn't a good reason. Coming back in the middle of the night covered in blood and injuries, which got him unable to fight for days, was in fact not "without much problems"
Hence the SIC started looking for two cultivators that could do the work. They needed people with strong cultivation that could also deal with jc.
Every potential disciple was interviewed and tested, but no one was stubborn enough to really do the work. They were dedicated to their sect leader, but too obedient to do the work. They needed someone who could argue back without fear if needed.
So they expanded their search area, the word travelling around Yunmeng that the Yunmeng jiang sect was looking for two cultivators to work as protectors.
People showed up to the test, being judged by SIC, HD and JC (and secretly by all the disciples hiding away on the sideline)
The day ended with two people left:
A young woman with high cultivation (despite some lack of experience) from a nearby sect.
And a rogue cultivator with high cultivation who heard of the rumour and decided to try
(I just realised I turning this into a thread-fic when it was supposed to be short skdnxnx will add it later again, feel free to suggest names, I'll have to find some that don't sound odd)
They were now all in the throne room, Jiang Cheng looking over the two cultivators. Xu Feng, the young woman, look pretty excited despite clearly keeping it all in for now, she was clearly happy to have gotten this far.
Jiang Cheng would say that she was pretty good, although a bit rough around the edges, but that could be trained easily. Plus, from the interaction he had with her, she clearly looked up to him, despite not being from the villages close to Lotus Pier or from ymg jiang.
His gaze fell on the rogue cultivator, Yu Xiong, who looked a lot more nonchalant than her. He was still polite and behaved himself, but something in his posture was still more nonchalant. the man truly had good skills that could be put to use (in his SIC words) despite seemingly not necessarily being there because it was Jiang Cheng. the sect leader wouldn't be surprised if the possible pay was what brought him here, but if he did the job correctly he wouldn't mind.
He couldn't feel any bad intention coming from them (it was a possibility too after things got out a bit more) and their addition to his sect would indeed be good.
"I suppose I can accept trying you two out for the job" Jiang Cheng finally said, getting up.
the SIC looked relieved that his sect leader wasn't going to argue, even seeing potential in them (be it as potential disciples or protectors). Sure it was "trying out", but it was already better than how he refused at first.
they were both shown to rooms they could use to stay, Jiang Cheng leaving some of the showing around to his SIC since he still had work pilling up (it wasn't his fault a certain someone asked to take a full two days to do all this, he still had work to do too).
Yu Xiong and Xu Feng were both woken up early in the morning, eating some breakfast with the SIC in command before being taken to a more private training ground, where Jiang Cheng was waiting while sipping some tea, looking like he had already been awake for quite a while now.
"I saw you against others yesterday, now it is time for me to see what you are really made of," Jiang Cheng said, "There's no need to hold back, I want to see what you are capable of".
and the morning went just like that, Jiang Cheng fighting against his two new bodyguards. Xu Feng went first, giving in her all, Jiang Cheng taunting her a couple of times to have her give him her all.
he had thought of going easy on her since she was less experienced, but he was pleasantly surprised to see her keep up easily. Sure she couldn't match him fully, but with proper training, he felt like she could become quite the cultivator.
next was Yu Xiong, who still looked rather nonchalant when they were facing each other. Jiang Cheng would lie if he said he wasn't satisfied with how quickly he made him turn serious in their fight when he started heavily from the very beginning, contrary to Xu Feng.
It was interesting fighting him, as he couldn't figure out which style of fighting he was using. sure, each sect had some alteration, but the Yunmeng sect usually had similar bases. yu Xiong was either for somewhere else or learned by himself.
Yu Xiong being barely a decade younger than Jiang Cheng also showed, showing he had more experience under his belt. Doing jobs around the region also probably helped, to the contrary of Xu Feng who seemed to mostly have kept to her sect and some night hunt.
Jiang Cheng had to admit it, his SIC wasn't bad in picking people, he also felt pretty satisfied with both of them, their fighting skill was above average for sure.
It didn't mean to he would get along well with them or that they would be good as protectors like his SIC and HD wanted them to be, but this could be put to the test later.
His little test ended near lunch, feeling himself tire out after training for so long.
"You both have good cultivation and fighting skills, Xu Feng would need a little bit more training, I can add you to the usual training" he suggested, smiling a little bit at the sparkle of joy he could see in her eyes at the mention.
"Yu Xiong has years of experience, but you will still need to keep training to make sure to keep the good form, but I assume you already knew that" he affords, the man simply nodding at his suggestion.
"You can both go and wash off, have lunch with the other, get used to Lotus Pier, if you wish to have a yunmeng jiang uniform go and see my SIC" he explained, adding that he still had some work to do for today.
Xu Feng asked if they needed to look after him, only for Jiang Cheng to say it was alright. "No one would dare attack me inside my domain, and if they tried they would have difficulties"
With that, a servant came to help them around Lotus Pier under the sect leader's command.
when the SIC walked past his sect leader and saw no one around him he sighed, letting him go back to his quarter.
He supposed it would take time before Jiang Cheng accepted them around and trusted them the same way he does everyone else here.
[I realised I don't have a name for SIC either jbsdib is there a canon one? otherwise, I'll look for one
Also coming up, a little someone might be coming to visit Lotus Pier]
A couple of days went by before a sort of routine slowly settled in. At first, neither of them would stay if Jiang Cheng insisted. But the SIC did suggest doing so. "He'll get used to you being around" he affirmed, causing Yu Xiong to stick closer to Jiang Cheng (Or at least, where he was allowed for now)
It clearly didn't please the man, but he did see how he slowly resolved himself to be followed around. Not that Yu Xiong was distracting, reading or meditating on the side.
Xu Feng was often training with the other disciples, helping with chores (from her own suggestion) and getting a bit more used to everyone. Although once she was done she would go find Jiang Cheng with tea.
They slowly started eating with him and the SIC too, Xu Feng more than happy to talk with them, learning more about things she was often cut from really talking about before. Yu Xiong was more of a listener, but would share stories of night hunt when the subject would come up.
The SIC  was honestly happy to see his sect leader slowly warming up to the both of them. In only a week it had become normal to see Jiang Cheng being accompanied by either or both of them.
This is when a certain someone decided to visit Lotus Pier.
"Sect leader Jiang, someone is here to meet you" a disciple came to tell him.
Jiang Cheng scoffed at this (despite being unable to hide the slight grin he had) as he said "took him longer than I thought"
Soon after a storm of yellow and gold made his way to his Pier where he was having tea with his Sic, Yu Xiong and Xu Feng.
"I've said for YEARS that you would need someone around and when you finally decide to find people you do not ask for help, no less I hear about It from rumours going around".
This made Jiang Cheng roll his eyes. "As a sect leader I am fully capable to protect myself or find people to do that," he remarked, "plus, aren't you busy as you plan the annual night hunt at Phoenix Mountain?" He asked, knowing full well how busy his nephew had been in the last two years of becoming a sect leader.
"Are you sure you can find proper people?" he asked, clearly looking at Yu Xiong with doubt in his eyes.
This made the rogue cultivator snort, barely looking up from the lotus seed he was peeling. "I could easily kick your ass in a fight you know" he replied, which only angered Jin Ling more
"Yu Xiong" Jiang Cheng warned.
The man looked up at the older man, "Of course, I wouldn't if sect leader jiang doesn't give permission for it".
This made Xu Feng roll her eyes, but she also felt like Yu Xiong wouldn't have caused trouble on purpose with their boss's nephew Especially since it was already known how much Jiang Cheng was looking out for Jin Ling and was helping him. Yu Xiong might have been a bit out of the loop with small matters in the cultivation world, but he had heard about this when he happened to hear people complain.
"As I said, I can pick people out myself, there no need to worry about me as this" jiang cheng affirmed again, showing him a seat afterwards, "but you can see for yourself by staying with us for tea"

the sheer annoyance on jiang cheng’s face at seeing wei wuxian cower behind lan wangji because of a dog is hilarious. but also what another painful reminder it is for him because for all their lives, it was him who had protected wwx from dogs. (jc, probably: I LITERALLY JUST CAME TO SAVE YOU U DUMBASS)

Sometimes I think about a world where Jiang Cheng accidentally won Su She's loyalty because they're both bitches about Lans and Su She did something boringly competent in front of him. I think they'd get along swimmingly, but also possibly too swimmingly. By which I mean that Su She would he to WWX as Wen Ning is to JC. Oh its so great that you got a new SIC while I was gone, one that is good at gruntwork and doesn't embarass you in public or disagree with you or tease, its FINE. Fine!!!
This is very compelling to me, and Jiang Cheng is good at remembering people's names and backstories, but I do think part of the draw of Jin Guangyao for Su She is that he's also an outsider struggling to the top, albeit a higher status one than Su She is.
Jiang Cheng's own classism could I think go either way here- he makes exceptions if he likes you and imo he's got that largely passive, observational flavour of prejudice going on that's largely about making sure the consequences of injustice don't fall on people you like while being generally uninterested in the fates of people who aren't directly in front of you. Yanli shouldn't marry a begrudgingly acknowledged bastard because his prospects aren't very good and his low status will rub off on her and her children. If we're going bookverse Wei Wuxian shouldn't marry the daughter of a servant because his status in the Jiang household makes that beneath him, and ideally he's going to reinforce that status by marrying up the social ladder (which he will! four for you Wei Wuxian). So if Jiang Cheng decided Su She was great actually and he was going to help him integrate into the upper echelons of the cultivation world maybe it works out? On the other hand while Su She does not seem overly burdened by class loyalty, he is extremely and honestly justifiably prickly and resentful about the impact that class has had on his life and he seems to generally just hate the gentry. While he sucks in many ways his loyalty is absolute once he decides you're worth it, which means that he decided the Lans were not worth it, and that says interesting things about his relationship or lack thereof with Xichen. Xichen is great at remembering names and being courteous and respectful to everyone regardless of rank! If he couldn't win Su She over I'm not sure Jiang Cheng can. Maybe if he meets Jiang Cheng right after he has his core restored and gets to feel instrumental in rebuilding Yunmeng Jiang with him? That sets us up nicely for Wei Wuxian's sad mad fuck you I'm not jealous you're just an asshole with terrible taste.

I really don’t know how to feel about CQL considering it was my first look into the whole MDZS world? I thought Jiang Cheng was this loving brother who had a hard time showing his feelings but was also super fucking annoying with it. Reading the novel and finding out what he truly is was kinda like heart break. I saved so many fics with that dynamic in them and reading through them again makes me kind of sic? It feels perverse in a way I can’t describe. Like literally….169 fics of the 300+ I’ve saved have that in them and I’ve had to delete them all.
Hello there anon, I'm sorry for this experience. In my personal take away I have found it a lot easier to tell people to read the novel over the LA since so much of it had been changed in regards to character dynamics and personalities. I do wish fandom as a whole on sites would categorize MDZS and CQL as two separate things the way lofter does in regards to fic and meta. And going from the LA to MDZS is a bit of a wake up call as Jiang Cheng in particular is very hard to deal with and is a bit close to real relations in life.
Jiang Cheng in general is a very very difficult character for the EN base to write as he is in the canon sources. He is very much an idealized version of what a sibling is, and I really can't say I understand where this comes from personally in terms of dynamics. I can only say this is why I heavily filter content concerning him and Jin Guangyao as I personally am not comfortable with a lot of the apologia given to these sort of people along with hardlining that CQL and MDZS are two very different mediums that just happen to share character names.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the takeaway that the yunmeng bros is legitimate in CQL, but it is not one that is reflected in the book as it goes very hard with deconstructing a lot of the usual xianxia/wuxia relationships between it's characters. Where as CQL did try to play it off more stereotypically. But there is the factor that the EN base conflates the two to a worrying degree.

You know a couple that doesn't get talked about at all but 'sort' of makes sense? Jiang Cheng and Jin Zixuan. Jfm and yzy decide that as eldest child jyl is to he sect leader and set up the political marriage for jc instead
Oh mannn, if The Untamed was a romantic comedy, yes yes this could work >:)
Let’s be real, in a world where Jiang Yanli is raised as Sect Leader and cultivator, the Sunshot Campaign would never happen. WRH would die like... a piece of egg frying on the hood of a black truck in an Albertan summer.
Jiang Cheng and Jin Zixuan would both be such disasters. D i s a s t e r s.
Jiang Yanli would have such a good time just watching this disaster unfolding from the side lines. Because it’s so obvious that Jiang Cheng finds Jin Zixuan attractive, but he tries to hide it.
JYL thinks A-Cheng has questionable taste, but if he’s happy then she’s okay with it. As long as JZX treats her baby brother right, that is. She’d sic A-Xian on him, but WWX is already there.
Wei Wuxian STILL defending his little brother’s honour like - HOW DARE YOU CLAIM A-CHENG ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU, YOU OVERGROWN FEATHER DUSTER.
Jiang Cheng and Jin Zixuan insulting each other in Cloud Recesses because neither of them can process their feelings and just end up in a full out brawl between Yunmeng Jiang and Lanling Jin.
Mianmian and Jiang Yanli and Wen Qing like: .......................=____=
Wen Ning wants to help, but he’s a baby, so he’s not allowed.
Lan Wangji wasn’t going to get in between this non-Lan fight until some Jin disciple who clearly wants to join his ancestors early, fought dirty and sucker punched Wei Wuxian.
Lan Wangji sends the Jin disciple flying. Like FLYING. Possibly over the walls of Cloud Recesses into Caiyi Town.
It all happens so fast, one minute Wei Wuxian was getting punched the next minute, he's being held around the waist and twirled around into safety.
EVERYBODY stops fighting.  👀 👀 👀 👀
Under the tutorship of Nie Huaisang, Qinghe Nie disciples take field notes and possibly sketches, you know, for the receipts.
There are too many students to punishment without this turning into an awkward political mess, so no one gets punished and Lan Qiren nearly has a stroke from this alone.
Jiang Yanli decides that yes her brothers are too stupid, if she doesn’t run interference, A-Cheng is going to die single.
Jin Zixuan hears a rumour (from MianMian) that the best way to antagonize Jiang Cheng is to get a dog, because apparently Jiang Cheng hates dogs???????????????
Clearly, if Jiang Cheng hates dogs that means this marriage is off. No way Jin Zixuan would marry a Boi who hates dogs? HAS HE NO SOUL?
But boy was he w r o n g. There is nothing purer in this world than Jiang Cheng laughing as a giant pupper slobber all over his face.
A-Cheng’s smile is S U N S H I N E.
Jin Zixuan falls like the asteroid that crashed into earth and wiped out the dinosaurs.
Wei Wuxian, however, does get extremely antagonized, but that’s okay because he jumps straight into Lan Wangji’s arms.
Jiang Yanli *secretly*: I’m a goddamn genius.
Lan Xichen is VERY pleased with this development.
Behind him, Nie Huaisang is >:) { literally rubbing his hands together behind his fan because Da’ge could always do with another boyfriend to balance out Meng Yao’s crazy. Lan Xichen would be perfect. Besides, he’s clearly already partial to Meng Yao’s Dimples from Hell.
EVENTUALLY, Jin Zixuan tries to confess his feelings but gets punched by A-Cheng instead, because no amount of Jiang Yanli’s soup or love can cure stupid.
That’s okay, because afterwards JYL’s spies (Yunmeng Jiang disciples) report that they saw Jiang Cheng pressing an ice bag to Jin Zixuan’s black eye while they ate lotus pods together.
If Jin Guangshan develops neurosyphilis and dies, well, it’s what he deserves.

On Qishan Indoctrination’s Duration
@pumpkinpaix: Do you know how long the Qishan indoctrination lasted? something tells me anywhere between 2 weeks and 2 months.
Me: Off the top of my head no.
[Two seconds later]
Also me: *rattles off events and their exact timeframes from memory to calculate it*
[Five Seconds Later]
😅 Me: I actually remembered more events to consider. Actually let me grab all the information and calculate it for real.
Here's that turned into a meta.
The day that Wang Lingjiao dies we learn this: "She had been following Wen Chao for almost half a year. Half a year was the most time that Wen Chao could spend on a woman, from loving her to becoming tired of her." (Evil, Part One). Since she was with Wen Chao during the indoctrination, this places a hard maximum time frame it can occur in less than six months. To determine the duration of the indoctrination, I started with the half year of Wen Chao/Wang Lingjiao. Then I list all the events within that timeframe and their duration to subtract from that half year period. That gets the range for the indoctrination.
For ease of estimation, I'm doing to do the following approximations:
Treating a month as 30 days
defining a few days as between 3 and 6 days
Wen Chao and Wang Lingjiao's relationship began prior Qishan Indoctrination
All the Relevant Timeframes
Let's start with "For the reason that other sects taught badly and wasted talent, the Wen Sect demanded all of the sects to each dispatch at least twenty disciples to Qishan within three days" (Courage, Part One). The indoctrination was likely sparked off by the Burning of the Cloud Recesses that occured "last month" (Courage, Part Two). I consider if safe to assume that Wang Lingjiao was already together with Wen Chao at this point because Lan Wangji is still fairly injuried at this point and the Wens don't seem to have long enough tempers to wait long after the burning combined with the fact that MXTX has a tendency for every tight timelines so let's say a few days prior to the demand's release.
Next is the night-hunt at Dusk-Creek Mountain. On the day that Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are rescued the latter shouts, "'Jiang Cheng! Where the hell are you?! It’s almost been seven days!!!'" (Courage, Part Five). That's nice we have a definitive amount of time seven days total between being trapped, killing the Xuanwu of Slaughter, and the rescue.
Now we must consider how long it took for them to arrive in Yunmeng post-rescue. In Poison, Part One, Wei Wuxian confirms that, "it only takes five days [sic] from Dusk-Creek Mountain to Yunmeng”. Jiang Cheng berates him for only counting the time to return Yunmeng but not time to arrive in Dusk-Creek Mountain and search for him. They traveled with a feverish Wei Wuxian and an injuried Lan Wangji so I'll use the entire five days. It'll also include the mount of time it took before Wei Wuxian to wake up post passing out just to make things easier and I don't doubt they did rush back since Wei Wuxian was ill. While the seven days arguably count as part of the indoctrination proper, I consider the five days not to be part of the indoctrinationeven if formally it hadn't ended and some disciples might have remained with the Wens based on the fact that post-Dusk Creek Mt night night the indoctrination "disintegrated completely. All of the disciples returned to their sects" (Poisons, Part Two).
It took Wei Wuxian a few days to recover and then "half a month later" the Fall of Lotus Pier occurs (Poison, Part Two). The paragraph following states one day so that suggests this is loose time keeping and not tight time keeping so I consider it fair to consider it half a month and then the fall. The Fall of Lotus Pier itself takes less than a day because Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng return late into that night to the sect's doors closed (Poisons, Part Three). It's safe to say a half a month and 1 day from his recovery to the Fall.
They travel "half a day" to escape after discovering their sect dead, but that night Wei Wuxian returns there after Jiang Cheng is captured (Poisons, Part Four). Wen Ning helps him save Jiang Cheng and then it takes "the second day" for them to arrive at Wen Qing's Yiling branch (Poison, Part Four). That adds another 3 days from the fall to arriving in Yiling.
After arriving, Jiang Cheng kicks up a fuss and "with the needle in Jiang Cheng’s head, he slept for three days" (Poisons, Part Five). It takes them a "few days" (Poisons, Part Five) between him waking up and arriving in the fake Baoshan Sanren Mountain. "Jiang Cheng had been in the mountain for seven days" for the golden core transfer (Poisons, Part Five). Jiang Cheng waits almost "almost six days" for Wei Wuxian to find him post transfer (Evil, Part Two).
Between then and Wang Lingjiao's death is "three months" that timeframe is repeated in Evil, Part One to Two. Though the reference points are slightly different it's either when Wei Wuxian disappeared or when the Sunshot Campaign sects joined together so it's a bit of a loose timeframe but we can take that as a minimum amount of time.
Maths
I am going to do this in two "phases" all the concrete timeframes and then the "few day" rougher estimates grouped together.
Conversions from months to days
half a year so 365/2 = 182.5, rounded up to 183 for Wen Chao/Wang Lingjiao
(.5 X 30) = 15 for post-Wei Wuxian's recovery up to Fall of Lotus Pier
(3 x 30) = 90 for between Wei Wuxian in the mass graves/start of the Sunshot Campaign to Wang Lingjiao's death
Concrete timeframes:
183 - 3 [travel to Qishan] - 5 [return to Yunmeng post rescue] - 15 [Wei Wuxian's recovery to before the Fall of Lotus Pier] - 1 [Fall of Lotus Pier] - 1 [Jiang Cheng's capture and rescue] - 2 [arrival in Yiling] - 3 [k.o'd Jiang Cheng] - 7 [gold core transfer] - 6 [Jiang Cheng waiting for Wei Wuxian] - 90 [between WWX in the mass graves/start of Sunshot Campaign to Wang Lingjiao's Death] = 50 days
Looser timeframes:
50 - (3-6 [Burning of Cloud Recesses to release of indoctrination demand]) - (3-6 [Wei Wuxian recovery]) - (3-6 [travel to fake BSSR mt.]) = 32-41 days
Now remember how the quote was almost half a year, I'm going to take off another 3-6 days to account for the fact so 26-38 days.
Conclusion
The indoctrination lasts at maximum approximately 26 to 38 days so a month give or take a week. While this does have about 6-9 days for Wen Chao and Wang Lingjiao to have already started their relationship (the burning of Cloud Recesses estimate combined with the travel to Qishan), it would still be reasonable to reduce it futher to account for the start of a relationship for your writing purposes.
Also, if you do not consider the time that Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji properly part of the indoctrination, I would subtract 6 days as the first day Wen Chao was still in charge and most of the disciples didn't disperse until later that day so 20-32 days maximum.

every day jin ling wakes up and suffers. he visits lotus pier with jiujiu and trains with the yunmeng jiang disciples. good. he goes on adventures with fairy around the lakes, looking for small islands and cool looking rocks. also good. he has to watch jiujiu pine after hanguang-jun whether hanguang-jun is there or not, and is forced to listen as jiujiu insists that he isn’t pining. decidedly not good. he lays on the floor, fairy laying halfway on his stomach, and screams into his hands.
he returns to koi tower and gets to dunk on jin chan and his entourage of goons. good. he and fairy train together in the forest, seeing how fast she can push him to run. also good. he overhears shushu talking to himself, debating aloud what his best plan of action is in whatever weird courting ritual he and nie huaisang have going on. just as decidedly not good. he and fairy are out at their private archery range. she lets him yell profanities into her fur.
lan jingyi has somehow weaseled his way into visiting him, undoubtedly with a bad joke on his tongue. jin ling sics fairy on him.

Aside from Jin-zongzhu, Jiang-zongzhu had someone else who looked like him: a disciple named Zhuo Cheng*.
But the young boy's character and attitude was the exact opposite of Zongzhu. It was the object of amusement for Yunmeng Jiang.
Until one day, for some reason or other (Jiang Cheng was cursed into a  lotus flower in the middle of discussion conference, for plot reason), Zhuo Cheng had to pretend to be Zongzhu for a week.
*any similarities to real people are not intended
SCENE I
Second-In-Command: you just sit there and let us do the talking, ok?? Make sure you sit like zongzhu!
Zhuo Cheng: Okay :3
Second-In-Command: DON'T DO THAT FACE!!
Zhuo Cheng: gosp okay sorry! Ahem. Okay 😡
Third-in-Command: I'm having a headache.

SCENE II
Zhuo Cheng, penguin flapping his sleeves: 😊😊🎶🎶
Outsiders: J-Jiang zongzhu ⁉️⁉️😵😵
Spiders: *palmface*

SCENE III
Jin Ling decides to help.
"Ok, let's try acting. If I forgot to bring my flare, what will Jiujiu say?"
"Reckless child! Check your props before night hunting, or I'll break your legs!"
"Ok, good enough."
"Yay!" 😊
"... Jiujiu don't do "yay", Cheng-ge."

SCENE IV
Zhuo Cheng, accidentally putting on his slutsona:
Second-In-Command, throwing smoke bomb and dragged Zhuo Cheng out of the room: STOP ADVERTISING ZONGZHU TO THESE HORNEE BEASTS

SCENE V
*sect leaders' gossip*
"Jiang-zongzhu is different today."
"Mn. He's less scary and more ..." *gestured abstractly*
*Zhuo Cheng doing a tinie little dance in the background*
"...Cringe?"
"Cringe. Adorable though."
"Makes me feel like I'd die for him."
*everyone nodded solemnly*

SCENE VI
Third-in-Command: ?? Why is the healer going to A-Cheng's room? Is he hurt!?
Spider 1: sorry, shixiong, it's our fault 😞
Spider 2: we encouraged Zhuo Cheng to train his zongzhu sneer 😞
Spider 1: he gave it his all and sprained his cheeks 😞
Zhuo Cheng, can't stop sneering: 😭😭😭

SCENE VII
Jiang-zongzhu, in his lotus flower form: ....
Assistant Healer 1: is it just me or lotus-zongzhu looks stressed?
Assistant Healer 2: it's just you. How come a flower looks stressed 🙄
Jiang-zongzhu, petals blackening:
Assistant Healers:

SCENE VIII
Oh, the conference is at Yunshen Buzhichu, so:
Zhuo Cheng: 😊😊😊🌻🌻
Wei Wuxian, sneaking behind him, knife to his throat: who are you and what did you do to Jiang Cheng? 🙂
Zhuo Cheng, turning around: shixiong 🥺👉👈
Wei Wuxian, dropping his knife dramatically:

I realize that I am not helping the Jiang Cheng fandom bicylce situation but whatever.
So, the premise is this Shen Jiu respawns and since he's unhappy about his place in Cang Qiong Mountain Sect with the better liked impostor and the smug demon lord etc. He strikes out on his own and ends up in Lotus Pier where he works as JIang Cheng's second in command. Jiang Cheng unlike Shen Jiu's hypocritical former sect sibling does not tolerate abuse and does not throw a snit because a guy is ruthless and likes to sleep in brothels. (This could be the romance but it isn't because Qijiu rights.) Yue Qingyuan rolls up to Yunmeng Jiang Sect and after some drama, misunderstandings, and enough pining to make even seasoned veterans of the legendary XuanLi courtship roll their eyes, Qijiu get their shit together and get together. Yay, celebrations!! Jiang Cheng cries with both eyes, one is happy for his loyal SIC, the other is unhappy because once again someone dear to him is leaving him. Except Shen Jiu is like, no way, am I quitting, I'm not going back to Cang Qiong, they frown at murder, they don't like my cutting remarks! Jiang Cheng tries to gauge how Yue Qingyuan feels about that. Yue Qingyuan, on cloud nine, no problem, Shen-shidi can lead the sect while I visit. (this could lead to Qijiucheng but not right now as I am still getting to the point)
During the events of MDZS, Shen Jiu is vacationing at CQMS (aka smugly feeding YQY treats while his former sect siblings pretend they are unaware that the two of them are an item.)
So, MDZS ends. Jin Ling becomes Jin sect leader and his reign is stabilized with support from jiujiu and occasionally helpful advice from WWX.
And then some person decides SL Jiang has gotten too powerful let's knock him down a peg. They threaten to expose the core transfer. Jiang Cheng kills that person but the whole thing gets him thinking. He's not really ok with the whole transfer but what can he do it's not like he knows an immortal master...oh wait he does.
He writes a letter to Yue Qingyuan and Shen Jiu: Hey for no particular reason. Have you heard of a way to transplant a golden core from one person to another? Maybe you know a doctor who would agree to do it without the other person knowing?
YQY and SJ: WTF, my man?
It takes Qijiu all of five minutes to find out, why.
SJ runs back to YJS: No, you stupid idiot, you can't do it!!!
JC: My mind is made up. I will do it with or without you
YQY, after hearing the whole story: Hmm. I see your point. If you have carefully considered it. (Shen Jiu shoots daggers from his eyes.)
YQY: Anyways, have you met Tianlang-jun, my Shen-shidi's father in law. He's a scholar of the demonic arts and can definitely help you out.
And that ladies, gents and everyone beyond, is the crossover pairing that launched this post.

okay for the relationship meme- i need you to do chengxuan because im really curious abt that pairing and i've claimed zhancheng and chengxian. also maybe relationship between jc and the second in command guy we all keep wondering about-> ie your thoughts on it.
For you 💗

Absolutely obsessed with the idea of Jin Zixuan and Jiang Cheng becoming friends during the Sunshot campaign, the romantic feelings are there but they have other shit to worry about. They're somewhat unwilling coworkers who are not too sure what to think of each other and I love it, slowly becoming friends along side the daunting realisation that the son of your dead mothers bestie is actually quite fun to be around.
ROMANCE.   childhood sweethearts  /  newly entered  /  soulmates  /  skinny love  /  unrequited from my muses side  /  unrequited from your muses side  /  friends with benefits  /  awkward  /  fading  /  turning  toxic  /  toxic  and  destructive  /  other .
It's all quite awkward, you're in the middle of a war and for some reason you're now in a relationship with probably the person your best friend hates the most. At least Jiang Cheng's mum would be happy. Jin Zixuan is still as awkward as ever, bless his wee heart. I think that they would be good for each other. Steering away from the Sunshot Campaign, there's also the fact that the two of them spend I think it was a week?? Looking for help to rescue Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji from the cave and I read such a good modern au fic about it called Keep making trouble (till you find what you love) by silveryogus on ao3, I love that fic so much.

In my head, the First Disciple/Second in command is the first ever Cultivator to fully pledge themselves to Yunmeng Jiang, none of this one foot out the door bullshit. They're both astoundingly competent, it's great. Probably the most stable relationship in Jiang Cheng's life, except for Jin Ling and I love that for him. I have so many ideas about this person but they're all kind of vague and fuzzy. However, when I sort out my thoughts I will 100% let you know!! 💗

Farmer Lan’s Rewatch Guide to The Untamed - Episode 2
Tumblr media
SPOILER CAUTION APPLIES.
Alright buds we are going to get right into it - no time to waste!
[WWX hangs out by a river/well with XPG (Little Apple aka Xiao Ping Guo aka XPG from now on), cultivator scene with the demon compass argument happens (cute), A-Yan gives WWX an apple and she’s clearly not mentally all there, mountain top A-Yan dance scene with her mom disclosing her tragic story and father’s death to WWX.]
Differences from the novel:
There’s some minor choronological and setting differences between here and Chapter 6. A-Yan was not the person who gave WWX the apple, it was a random girl. There were two separate scenes with cultivators trying to use the compass in the novel, but it was condensed into one in the drama.
WWX bumps into A-Yan in the town at the foot of DFS and hears of her story from townspeople. A-Yan’s story is essentially the same in both versions, but the novel also includes an additional story about how a slovenly/good-for-nothing oaf became seemingly wealthy and suddenly wanted to get married and settle down, except he died on the night of the wedding. This would later be used by WWX to further support his narrative of what’s behind the ‘soulless people’ cases when he explains it to the Gusu disciples.
[Cut to WWX in a forest, A WILD JIN LING APPEARS! Man, I forgot what a little shit he was when he first arrived <3. WWX and JL runs into each other, except JL thinks he is MXY, banter ensues, WWX traps JL with his paper man and drops that awful YOUR MOM line to JL.
Banter continues until JC brings his posse and incredibly sharp jawline to the scene. Seriously, damn. Things are about to get physical before LWJ arrives. Shade is thrown between JC and Gusu & Co., JC literally looks like he is in pain and why oh why does nothing ever work out for him as his subordinate reports that all the spirit nets have been destroyed. JC decides against picking a fight and tells JL he better BRING HIS A GAME TO THE HUNT before dismissing him. LWJ dismisses the rest of the disciples and walks away, leaving WWX alone. Cut to WWX remembering JC + JYL by the river and then he overhears JL’s true parentage and feels baaaaaaad man.]
In the novel, there is further discussion of the LLJ sect and especially JGS in Chapter 7. Seeing JL’s reaction to him as MXY, WWX then correctly deduces that MXY is actually the illegitimate son of none other than JGS, who was known for his philandering ways.
It was also clarified in the novel that locked within the ‘paper man’ WWX sic-ed on JL was the ghost of a man who had died from gluttony, hence why JL could not get up. He was basically being sat on by a really fat man.
A bigger deal is made in the novel of how LWJ is someone who “appears where there is trouble” – JL says this to him in a sarcastic way, but it’s a common theme that runs throughout the novel, that although he can be considered an extremely prominent figure, he takes the time to help or show up no matter how ‘low level’ the situation is. It’s a sign of his strong moral character that nothing is too beneath his attention.
The situation of the night hunt itself is also explained a little bit more in detail – JL is turning sixteen this year, and this night hunt at DFS is basically a debutante ball for him as you have to be past a certain age to participate in hunts. So, in order to make sure he claims the top prize, JC made sure to come with him and also set up the spirit nets. Aww, they ruined his present!
Fun fact: JC very nearly came to blows with LWJ in the novel but chose not to do so because a) he had to consider sect relations between Gusu and Yunmeng and b) he wasn’t sure he would win since they’ve never fought before. HA.
[Gusu disciples run into old man grave caretaker, these are Wen graves! He asks them to go visit the Tiannu Temple and they move on before he can tell them that the goddess statue moooves. Spoopy. WWX also happens upon the Wen graves. Scene between him and WQ and he realizes it’s the statue stirring shit and JL is about to step in the shit that has been stirred.
Scene in the temple with Gusu disciples and JL, shit starts going down, WWX and Gusu disciples gather outside. Gusu disciples realize they ran out of flares and WWX is all like haha prepare to be punished! WWX clarifies the difference between soul-eaters and the goddess status, links it to the ongoing issues with A-Yan. LJY calls him out – he’s only pretending to be CRAZY! ]
There’s no old grave caretaker in the novel and there’s no Wen graves scene. There are ancient tombs around the area that the Gusu disciples explored, but it was only mentioned in passing as part of the larger conversation around what exactly was plaguing the mountain. What happens in the novel is – WWX encounters a spirit dressed in fancy burial clothes, realizes something is wrong because that kind of spirit (the spirit of a corpse) should not be on DFS, puts two and two together and goes off to find JL.
The scenario of WWX explaining what exactly ‘it’ is to the Gusu disciples closely follows that of the novel, except he also adds the explanation around the slovenly oaf’s story. Basically, oaf prays to the goddess statue to be wealthy, the goddess granted him his wish but took away his soul on the night of the marriage. Hence why WWX encountered the wealthy corpse spirit - essentially the goddess split open his grave and gave the oaf the funeral/afterlife offerings that were buried within it, displacing the spirit in the process.
Also the goddess statue ate some humans in the novel but this was probably too graphic for the drama lol.
[JL shows up with the statue hot on his heels, WWX is like but wait we sealed the statue off before! WWX then builds and plays a makeshift bamboo flute. LJY changes his mind – MXY is still crazy after all, and on top of that he’s also a garbage flute player, ha. WN shows up and WWX is all ???, illusion is revealed, WWX posits whoever did this wanted lure out WN, a mysterious man in black scuttles off in the background.
Men rush WN, WN is like, uhm, y’all ain’t shit. WWX then plays WangXian to suppress WN’s rage, draws him towards himself and then we have THE REUNION – eyes meet, lovey-dovey wrist-gripping scene ensues.]
Interestingly, the drama shows JL being thrown to the ground and trying to scurry away/flinching as the statue advanced on him. In the novel, he actually stood right within reach and thought, “If I can’t kill her right here and now, I’ll die – but so what?!” Basically, he was 100% ready to kill the statue or die trying before WN showed up.
In the drama, we weren’t specifically clued in to the fact that WN is currently unconscious due to the nails in his head. In the novel, WWX realizes this instantly because Wen Ning was not capable of sentient thought and had to rely on WWX’s orders.
The drama hints that the whole thing was staged by the mysterious man in black caught scampering away – in the novel, this is not the case. There was no other person ‘operating behind the scenes’, this whole incident with the statue was not an illusion.
The reunion scene is as it happens in the novel, gripping of wrists and all. Ha. I love you directors.
[WWX is outed as the person who summoned WN and JC is like well well well, Shady’s back. LWJ tries to protect WWX, WWX tries to run away but gets whipped and decides to play crazy as JC wonders why Zidian didn’t work.
WWX appears to faint and wishes to go back to the time to 16 years ago, when he was at Lotus Pier and we start our flashback arc. Cute scene where he gets a sugar rabbit (HA I see you) for JYL. They decide to rest in a tavern. JC bickers with WWX and grouses that JYL and JFM always defends him and is reminded that being free-spirited is considered a virtue by the YMJ sect.]
The confrontation between JC, WWX and LWJ follows the novel partly (the whipping, the face-off between JC and LWJ), but the novel goes into more detail.
For one, LJY is like, ‘wait didn’t YOU kill WWX? Why are you saying he’s back?’ to JC in the drama. In the novel, no one claims that JC was the one who killed WWX in the novel – only that he was present at the battle at Nightless City along with the Yunmeng Jiang sect.
Also, in the novel, someone in JC’s sect basically tells says that there’s no way MXY is WWX because WWX would have chosen someone cooler. WWX was flirtatious with girls and a good-looking dude and MXY is a gay lunatic riding a donkey. And also, his flute skills are so, so subpar compared to WWX. Ha. WWX secretly grouses that he would kneel to anyone who’s able to play a nice melody on a dollar-store flute after not having practiced for 13 years. Touché.
In an attempt to get both JC and LWJ off his case, WWX tries to disgust the both of them by going, “JC is NOT my type but you know who is my type? LWJ uwu he’s so attractive” but it totally fails because LWJ does not take the bait. Instead, he says “Well then, I’m taking this man back to the Lan sect with me.” And that’s the end of Chapter 10. See comments on the flashback/timeskip in the summary section below.
The last conversation JC and JYL shares is very interesting. It’s not in the novel, but it really plays into the narrative that “WWX embodies more of Yunmeng Jiang’s values than JC even though he is not a Jiang”, which is also a theme in the novel and kind of a sticking point for JC obviously. One can say that JC takes after his mom, and WWX takes more after JFM.
Overall Thoughts
This is where the divergence from the novel plot line begins to get a little more serious. The novel employs a series of flashbacks scattered throughout the book whereas the drama is essentially one long flashback from Episode 2 through Episode 33. It obviously makes more narrative sense to arrange it that way in a drama series in order to make it less confusing, especially since they’re using the same actors for past and present WWX/LWJ, but just keep that in mind.
With that said, I will stop at Chapter 10 for the purpose of comparing it to Episode 2. Chapter 11 and 12 have essentially both been removed from the drama besides for the cold springs scene, which was also modified. I will discuss these two chapters when we get to Episode 33 (wow, will we ever get there??). Episode 3 picks up at Chapter 13, which is the beginning of the Gusu arc. Chapters will start jumping around (in the novel, the Gusu arc is only Chapters 13-18, and then the Wen Sect/Tortoise of Slaughter is a separate flashback from Chapters 51-59)  so I am going to try my best to match them up lol.
Ending the summary on another cute note, in the novel LWJ’s presence is often described as being accompanied by the light scent of sandalwood, which is what WWX smelled before bumping into him in the novel.

[Kinktober 2021: Free Use (18+)]
Yunmeng Jiang Disciples / Jiang Cheng| Mo Dao Zu Shi 14-10-2021
Day 14: [Free Use] / S̷t̷o̷c̷k̷i̷n̷g / B̷l̷o̷o̷d̷ ̷P̷l̷a̷y
Jiang Cheng is really close to his sect members and no one understands how he does it. Little do they know how much Jiang Cheng loves his disciple and how this love is returned.
====
Many didn't understand how come sect leader jiang, who was rather severe and unfriendly, had disciples this loyal to him. Some were simply gossiping and talking of them simply being too scared to say or do anything out of line.
The yunmeng Jiang disciples wanted to shut down anyone who was spreading such a narrative but were always stopped by jc. He knew it would do nothing.
He knew what his sect meant to him and what he meant to them and this was the important part. It had been hard for jc to trust all these new people when he was a new sect leader and felt like everyone and everything was against him. They had walked a great way from there.
Maybe his needing dual cultivation to help with his golden core helped, where he showed a more vulnerable side of himself.
At first, it was only his second and third in command. They were one of the first when jc started building back Lotus Pier, they had been there throughout all of the Sunshot campaigns, they had been there for the fall of the YLL. He had come to trust them with his problem.
But slowly he started opening up more to his other disciple, especially when everyone showed genuine intent of helping and caring about him. Sure, some unsatisfied fool went away, but the most patient one stayed and gained jc trust and love.
Soon he was helped by everyone with his dual cultivation, every disciple taking good care of him and showering him with all their love and devotion. If no one else would give that to jc then they would do it.
At first, it was only when problems would flair up, accepted the help of whoever was closer (they had an order list at first so everyone could get their chances). Then it became prevention when he would overuse his golden core a bit too much.
Slowly they all became more intimate and affectionate with him even when it was not about dual cultivation. A stolen kiss here, someone gently combing his hair, holding his hand, kissing his temple when bringing him new scrolls, hugging him tightly after an especially stressful day. All little ways to show their love for jc.
Then it turned into their precious sect leader being free to us by everyone everywhere in lotus pier. Jc grew used to it, loving the feeling of drowning in their love and in the pleasure.
When they were away they needed to keep their image, but once behind closed doors, it was free Jiang Cheng for whoever had accompanied him.
At times it was letting their leader cockwarm them as he did paperwork. Groping him after training. Fucking him silly after a stressful meeting with other sect leaders. Teasing him at dinner. Fucking him in the river. Letting him suck you off as a reward.
They particularly loved to please him in the throne room, everyone showing how loved jc was, and how loyal they were to him. He would always end up feeling fuzzy, warm and pleasantly limp.
Having their sect leader moaning under their ministration has a group of them were touching all the little parts of him they knew and remembered would cause him to make such pleasant noises.
Having him exposed to them all on the pretty throne, leg spread wide for anyone to slide in between and take over when someone was done.
As long as the man didn’t give the word needed to not be touched because he didn’t feel like it, everyone was free to do anything.
The only excluded zone was the sect leader's own room. Only his SIC and TIC could join him in there. Some were jealous and also wanted that privilege, but most understood. Despite jc trying not to show any favouritism for anyone, they knew that them having been by jc side since the very start had something more than most of them, especially the newer ones.
No one really knew what they were doing behind closed doors, sometime those in patrol could hear if they were close enough, but that’s it.
But sometimes jc simply needed to be fuck gently, kissed softly, have sweet nothing being whispered to him, simply be held close to someone and sometimes even just lie there. Sometimes everything was simply too much and he needed specific people to make him feel better.
But all of this is why everyone in the sect would be ready to die for jc, ready to do anything to make their sect leader even a bit happier and less stressed.
Other cultivators didn’t understand, but it was alright, everyone in Lotus Pier knew why they loved and cherished their leader so much, because he cherished and loved every one of them too.
