Garmadon's Reign AU: Cole and Zane

After Wu was imprisoned by his corrupted brother, Zane and Cole were forced to work for him.

Zane was taken and initially was brought in as a medical assistant in the palace but was then modified after they found out he wasn't human and started experimenting on those who went against King Garmadon.

He unfortunately had his emotions and memories turned off due to the modifications.

Cole had to make a choice between being a prisoner and a guard of the dungeon. He chose to be a guard but it was no different than being a prisoner since he had to watch his every move by the shadow in his steps.

But thanks to his new position, there were times when he helped the rebels (he had to learn to trick the shadows) without being suspected by King Garmadon.

Zane's overall more robotic behavior in recent seasons is pretty annoying but by far the worst crime is characters assuming he eats oil or bolts or something. MY MAN IS A PROFESSIONAL CHEF BITCH DON'T DISRESPECT HIM LIKE THAT‼️‼️‼️

I really really like the Wyldfyre shorts, they're a great way to explore Wyldfyre's grief without having to dedicate screentime from the main show.

At the same time, excuse me Wyldfyre, what did you just say he told you?

I am annoyed more so at the writers and not the character, tho his character is a close second.

The ONLY good thing about his character from Crystalized just got thrown out and into the garbage for... No reason?

And this isn't like, Wyldfyre being an unreliable narrator, because she's literally quoting him, even if it's in condensding manner, and you can't tell me Zane doesn't know the difference between Humans and Nindroids... Like- ugh...

I'm just upset, S1 of DR had his character pretty well I'd say, but S2 has just NOT BEEN IT in the slightest, they seen to be doubling down repeatedly on his robot self and not his human self, and I'm sorry but there's not even any comparison between the two when it comes to which one I like more...

Zane's whole thing was that he was a very very VERY human machine, a person even, and it seemed like he could function as a machine while still maintaining his humanity and personality.

Now, with what we've had since SotFS and now this line, it feels like that balance has completely gone out of whack, it feels like he's favouring his robot self over his human one, and there's nothing inherently wrong that.

Unless... You repeatedly literally don't do anything with his character and just keep building up on the fact that he's "Silly nice robot man :p", and especially when you use his 'Cardboard Cutout' character during the Wildbrain Era as a sort of justification for his current character state.

Mind you, that Cardboard Cutout didn't go through a single character arc up until Crystalized to justify making him feel so much more robotic, and it's hella infuriating when you remember they TRIED to give him an arc after SotFS (Tommy said that they previously wanted to have a Zane PTSD/Depression arc for Prime Empire that was scrapped).

If you can't tell, I'm not happy with his current currently in the slightest...

Overlord!PossessedZane Au

This Au is kinda one I've had for a long time, but it's been mostly just in my head. (It's a kinda old) Basically:

This Au is the aftermath of Zane's first death. This one takes place during the tournament of elements. The overlord, knowing it's going to lose, swaps consciousness over to Zanes body at the last second, escaping the scene while the ninja are left grappling with the fact they think he's gone.

Zane doesn't have enough power to stay conscious during, and a while after the overlords switch. Along with that, the overlord is stuck in a kinda destroyed body, and messed up code. This leads him to getting caught by some people sent by Chen. With heavy injuries, and no technology near, he is easily defeated.

This leads him to the ✨Island✨ Chen needs Zane there so he can lure in the ninja, and the OL needs internet access to continue his work, which leads to a deal. The OL can't access the network from the island because it's all on Chen's own private network. Chen would help him in his goals (haha he's lying to you bro) in return for his cooperation. So basically:

The Overlord in Zane's body joins the Tournament of Elements disguised, slowly hacking into more and more of Zanes systems and being able to use his element more, the Ninja just want their friend back not knowing one of the foes they are facing is the very man, and Zane is fighting to keep control in a body that is slowly having its files deleted and corrupted by the very thing he died to destroy.

This is a really old au, I've added some stuff and changed a bit, if you've heard some of this before on Amino or in a small fic it was probably me. I might do some more art

What if I gave Zane's robot appearance a screen instead of a human-like face? His default face is still o_o but let him emote through symbols and emoticons like ? !! UwU >:O ;-; <3 and >///<. He and Jay could add more and even add kaomojis over time to give him more expressions.

The true fulfillment of Zane's worst fear is not his time as the Ice Emperor, but rather the time he spends cutting down his personality until he feels more like a machine than ever in response to the trauma of that experience.

also i actually put a bit of thought into the au?? crazy anyways and i realized zane would be going through shit in this au

like its a mainly Pixal centric au but jesus zanes going through it

my shit comic skills aside,

Yknow how pix is more assistant and logical while zane is more hero and impulsive? His whole "I was built to protect those who cannot protect themselves" would be second place to Pixal's need to assist in this au because shes in the driver seat

Which means having his literal purpose be ignored in favor for logic, while in canon he'd go and act irrational to serve that purpose

Pixal doesn't mean to hurt him by doing this ofc, just trying to keep both of them alive and on the best outcome

I like to think the ninja casually have elemental accidents. Specifically when they first found them.

Zane sometimes freezes the water pipes. He also is not allowed on laundry duty anymore, everyone is sick of getting frozen popsicles instead of their clothes.

Cole accidentally creates sinkholes in the training yard and for some reason its always Pixal falling down them.

Everyone has some form of a lightning scar because of Jay.

Lloyd creates bombs out of his hands by accident. No one hands him things anymore.

Nya is horrible to have around winter because when she’s in a bad mood, the snow around them turns mushy and gross and somehow it always end up somewhere uncomfortable.

Kai is constantly on fire during the summer. Literally. His hair is on fire. It’s why no one can sleep below or on top of him with the bunk beds, they like having a home and would rather not collapse in the middle of the night.

Morro accidentally makes things float when he’s feeling any strong emotion, and be careful when around an excited Euphrasia, she will and has accidentally blasted people into walls (Wyldefyre’s broken ribs is proof)

Wyldefyre bursts into flames when angry and sweats too much, no body wants to touch her hands because of it.

Sora has made evil robots more then once and calls them her babies despite them actively trying to murder Lloyd and her, she also has dismantled a bunch of important tech by accident.

Arin and Pixal are sick of it, and Pixal is very much tempted to create safe venge stone bracelets for these lot because if another of her damn creations break no one will be safe.
