Been seeing lots of posts about Zelda being a horrible cook lately and here's the thing: I agree, just not for the same reasons most people seem to be thinking.

-Zelda is a scientist. She would absolutely be precise and methodical about cooking. But you know what else scientists do? They experiment. Zelda has absolutely ruined so many meals by trying to mix in something that does not go with the recipe just to see what would happen. 19/20 times this does not work, even if her experimental addition is in fact edible.

-Link cooks like a grandma -- a pinch of this, a dash of that, just enough but not too much of this, what do you mean how do I know how much to add without measuring it? Zelda cannot do this. She will over- or under-season the food every time unless she has precise measurements to follow.

-Tbh I headcanon Zelda is bad with spices in general. She knows which ones she likes and doesn't like but does she know how to combine them in a way that they complement each other and the food? Absolutely not.

-Further headcanon that sitting and staring at food waiting for it to cook can set off PTSD moments for Zelda from holding back the Calamity. She will start dissociating and by the time she zones back in, the food is burned. Zelda tries to combat this by working on other things while food is cooking, but then she gets distracted and it burns. Zelda can't win on this one :(

-Link loves that Zelda is trying her best and eats her her food anyway

Does anyone else have very complicated ways of shipping?? like when i say "i ship them" i don't mean "oh they love each other so much they kiss each other and will be together forever" i ship characters but in a way that's unique to only them and/or only in certain scenarios

Like, for example Zelink- I think pre-calam zelink was one sided, i dislike post-calam zelink, but i sort of like totk zelink (yes i know they are the same two people) but only certain dynamics??? but i also think that its the type of love that goes unsaid, they just look out for and support each other, maybe its not entirely romantic but they are closer than friends. It's the type of closeness you can only get by knowing that no matter what lifetime you are in the other will always be there. I don't think its necessarily the type where they hide behind pillars to make out, or try to stay in a committed relationship, but more of a tired love, one that has been renewed throughout hundreds of lives, each time being something different.

But take skyward sword, i believe that it's easier to see romantic zelink here

or Miphlink - I don't really ship this, but it's a tragic one-sided love story that Mipha knew was doomed from the beginning. The other woman. Was never given enough time to tell Link how she felt, yet even if she had time he might not have returned her feelings. Now he barely remembers her. Maybe 100 years later she's a little embarrassed of herself, of what she wrote in her diary. Maybe it was a simple crush, mistaken for undying love and has dwindled over the past century. But now it's a sad love, the type where she grieves for what used to be, and what never will. But after being saved from Ruta she switches her sights towards the domain. She can see how much her brother has grown and is so proud of him. She knows Link will never remember her fully, but maybe it's for the best. No matter what, she will always be there to heal his wounds.

Tbh i was dragged into Revalink kicking and screaming, but now it's one of my favorites. - Their dynamics work so well, but oh no it's so sad. Started from a one-sided "rivalry" to some sort of friendship. Link never hated Revali, he didn't even dislike him. And Revali just wanted Link to be impressed, to understand why he was chosen for his role as pilot, and he wanted Link to prove himself to Revali (honestly i can go on a on about why revali was harsh to link in botw if anyone wants me to) But over time they both start to realize that they are more similar to each other than any of the other champions. They weren't born into noble families or blessed with magic. Revali learns about the vigorous training Link underwent after pulling the sword, and Link learns that Revali isn't the son of the elder or was an important figure in his village before becoming a champion, but a simple warrior just like Link. Their friendship grows and they become a great team, surprising mostly everyone. Maybe it grows into something more. Maybe neither of them know it. Maybe they just never admit it. Revali knows Link doesn't remember him. He doesn't want him to. He tells Link not to go asking about him to the princess. It's for the best, he will still be there to help Link after all. Maybe it's cruel to keep him from knowing. Well, Revali will be gone soon anyway. Maybe he hopes that Link will at least remember good things about him.

So for your First AU, which member of the Chain would intrigue First the most, and why? What are his dynamics with the others likely to be like? (Or is that too spoilery to ask lol)

Sky definitely intrigues him the most. He's his successor, the one who made it to Skyloft when First didn't, the kid who loved Zelda (Hylia's reincarnation) so much he returned to the surface to find and save her. Heck, he faced Demise just like First did, but won. And to First that's...pretty amazing. He's extremely proud of him to say the least.

As for the others...

Wild: him and First get along surprisingly well. First gets the failing Hyrule thing in a way no one else really does. So, once that tale comes out, Wild can't help grow closer to him.

Time: he tolerates First. He certainly respects him as a good man and a skilled warrior, but it takes a long time to go beyond that. There's a barrier there that's kinda similar to the one between him and Sky.

Legend: I'm still working out this one. For now I'm thinking they get along pretty well. First isn't afraid to speak his mind in the least, especially when calling people on their crap, and Legend can respect that. As for First, he comes around to seeing the soft side Legend hides, and, well, he definitely gets hiding oneself for protection.

Wind: definitely gets along well with First. He thinks the guy is soooo cool. And naturally, he melts First's heart immediately. (First tries not to mention that his first thought upon meeting him was something like, "who in Hylia's name let A CHILD into the group??")

Hyrule: at first Hyrule is a little awestruck by and insecure around this "perfect knight." First is everything he feels he's not. But Hyrule's skill with magic and connection to fairies fascinates First, and he urges Hyrule to acknowledge his talents. This leads to them being friends

Warriors: he and First get along very well. For Warriors it's almost a relief to have a fellow army man to commiserate with. First has seen the horrors of battle ten times over and as a leader he understands the pressures Warriors has -- and continues to -- endure. Besides, they enjoy teasing one another about their almost identical armor. (No one can understand why they look so much alike, though several theories have floated around group).

Four: for now, I'm saying they are more acquaintances than friends. First is intrigued and mystified by him, and he respects Four's strategizing ability as well as his skill at remaining cool and collected. And Four thinks this knight from the past is interesting. But they don't interact much, and it doesn't truly go beyond that.

Twilight: tbh I'm still a bit lost on this one. I think they would get along well enough, despite having drastically different backgrounds. They wouldn't have the easy-going teasing relationship Twi and Wars share. Perhaps, something closer to the respectful professionalism Time and First have for one another. (Twi is definitely warmer to First than Time is though).

FSR rambles PT 4

Over explaining the decisions in my own comic once again. UwU

Something I'm not sure was how well this portrayed that this was shortly after they put the sword back (like maybe a year at most?)

I kind of like to think for FSR at least, they were all around 13-15 during the events of the manga (This isn't my opinion tbh, though in the bonus pages they buy child tickets for the theme park so they aren't canonically adults.)

Link's old enough to drink in FSR so he's at least 21.

(I've never really liked the idea they're YOUNG kids during FS it just lends itself better to FSR specifically. I really write them however old I want for whatever scenario I'm writing because Link's as fluid as a Vocaloid when it comes to making fan works and cannon is my bitch. Writing them as adults during the events of the manga usually lends itself to MORE writing opportunities but not for FSR. I don't really give a shit what other people decide to do when making fan works either.)

You'd also notice the 7 years it takes FS Link to pull the sword is a reference to the seven years Link misses during OOT.

Anyways onto the page itself: Zelda's a sweet girl who cares deeply about her childhood friend. Link means a lot to her and she makes time for him. He waits for her too. Zelink shippers I got you lol.

Something I always found WEIRD was how Link doesn't talk in the pages after he reformed. That's so odd to me. The fan "theory" It's basically cannon in BOTW/TOTK at least Link's selectively mute. That Link's mute is also something I took inspiration for FSR Link.

So Link doesn't respond to Zelda verbally but she still makes the effort to talk to him.

Shadow Link is very disapointed he can't get hugged by the princess. Because as he stated earlier in the comic he loves her. Zelda addressed him too so she tries to include him.

This page shows off just how gradual the curse was: So funny enough at the START of the comic it was actually going to be explained how Link utterly deteriorated but I decided to add that later. (Wanted to get to funny shenanigans with the boys so I put it off)

It started with him just hearing whispers, then full voices then the what I call "Headspace" fully appeared.

Blue mentions liking Zelda's hugs Haha "Where's my hug???"

Vio just says Zelda's name, Vio's relationship with Zelda is something I'd love to expand upon later down the line.

Green's more focused on food oof.

Red's just happy to see Zelda.

Green was right about being hungry, so Zelda invites him over for DINNER-

Shadow Link's still just vibing.

Zelda lifting Link up in this panel just shows she's there for him.

Link is just dealing with the fact he can hear them by himself. Also dad is still alive.

Lol he's actually making his dad proud which was something he didn't do often before the OG book.

Zelda hanging out with Link and his father kind of shows them as a family.

Shadow Laughing in the bg but he's away from the rest.

So the captain died in a fight, and Link blames himself for it because he can't think straight when there's 4 people constantly talking.

Daddy's demise was really the start of the snowballing downhill for him.

Lol. So Vio's daddy issues are apparent for the SECOND time in the comic. He was uncomfortable even bringing up Link's dad before and this is partially the reason why:

Vio's the only one not crying or overtly emotional about their dad dying.

But something to consider is if he's truly talking to Link or himself in that panel. Because the man is still SHOOK. We have the liberty of SEEING Vio here, but Link doesn't.

So he takes this statement very poorly because:

Well, Vio's seeming "no shits given" attitude is unsettling enough coming from an outside source but that IS apart of Link.

A part of him, seemingly doesn't care his own father kicked the bucket and that's scary to him.

I think anybody would have lost it at this point.

Too bad Zelda saw Link screaming his lungs out at his father's grave lmao. Poor man.

Bro can't do anything but plead for Zelda to help him at this point. She's really the only person he feels he can turn too anyway.

Our girl comes in clutch with them hugs.

This was the conformation Link was actually not speaking in the comic Felt like I had to outright state it cause I wasn't sure if people would notice it otherwise.

Something I REALLY wish was a thing in Zelda manga:

Zelda and Link BOTH lose their parents. Usually their mothers.

And we never get any sort of bonding over that. And I find that a complete waste of potential.

I'd like to dive further into that with FSR or some other Zelda work I do because: HOLY SHIT THEY COULD BOND OVER THEIR LOST PARENTS????

Also Zelda's unfortunate phrasing here with "You can talk to me" she means just, that he can confide in her in general lol.

He's still struggling to actually speak. Poor guy.

While keeping him from doing knight duties kept him PHYSICALLY safe it was just another thing he lost to the curse Vaati laid on him.

So the obvious: Zelda had to watch the person she cares about most completely fall apart before her eyes and she couldn't do shit.

They weren't even aware this WAS A CURSE from Vaati mind you. They were completely in the dark trying to solve this.

Something horrific about this situation you might have also considered:

Not only did Zelda have to watch Link deteriorate but so did Shadow Link.

Shadow Link couldn't even offer much comfort. Zelda could offer physical comfort and attempt emotional comfort but Shadow was completely fucked.

And with the new context of "Link was mostly mute" the fact he wasn't actively TALKING to Shadow Link makes a lot more sense.

Still didn't make that fact any less painful in the moment.

Shadow literally could not participate, was isolated and lonely and had to watch someone else slowly get isolated and lonely and couldn't even help.

Link and Shadow Link literally felt the same way and could not help each other even though they were right next to each other all that time.

Also with the new context of what Link was going through, Shadow's persistence to be there for Vio starts to make a whole lot more sense: He can actually DO something now.

Vio's just stating the obvious at this point and his broken record nature really pissed Link off.

I'm sure you noticed what he wore color wise matched his emotions lol.

Vio technically is 100% right: They think Gannon is in the sword. It would literally be INSANE to pull it knowing that.

But Link's kinda at the point of not giving a shit.

Zelda would get hurt no matter what his "solution" to the problem ended up being.

Shadow Link trying to cheer Link up by reminding him he's there is so sad. Mghhhh

And for the first time in the flashback we actually have Link fully acknowledge Shadow Link's presence.

Vio was outright in denial the man was still alive and didn't want to acknowledge his existence so Link fully embracing Shadow Link here was a big moment between the two of them.

Shadow Link started to figure out what the man was planning but couldn't do squat about it. (He also couldn't communicate with the 4 or HEAR THEM.)

Link shows up in the head space! :D

His words imply he wasn't SURE he could properly communicate with Green like this alone...Which is no surprise considering Vio thinks how odd it is they were able to do that in the first place.

I kinda scrambled to think of what to have him look like hah. Ended up with him wearing white. Since white is the lack of color, white reflects all wavelengths of light so it literally kinda REJECTS color. (Apposed to Black which absorbs light, which funny enough his pants are black...)

And it symbolizes rebirth, peace stuff like that.

It can also symbolize death but we're ignoring that one lmao.

His nails are all the colors + Shadow Link too.

Lmfao when you gaslight yourself.

Okay in all seriousness the Link lays down just how DIRE the situation is since the other 3 don't seem to be quite aware.

And the "Promise" Green made to Link is what had Green so shook at the start of the comic for.

And the weight of the line "Can I trust you?" really sinks in as we'll see.

Link's kinda spooky haha. You can tell he wasn't sure Green was going to help him but that's quickly overtaken by how overjoyed he is Green is for sure on board.

One of my favorite panels from this batch is how happy he is. He's so relived he can finally just rest.

Green can't though. The crushing weight of keeping everything "Okay" is a heavy burden to bare and Dark Link spits those words right back into Green's face, and just holds him.

Green doesn't seem to hate the hug as much as Vio did hah.

Green doesn't even seem to acknowledge his presence while Vio not only NOTICED but was actively terrified of him to the point of trying to grab his sword.

He also mocked Vio more throwing Vio's own words back in his face, but just repeats what Link said to Green.

How. Odd.

as a fellow bio major with gifted kid burnout who doesn't wanna study for bio (can you believe i still have a fucking bio lab due tomorrow. it's spring break for me rn. blasphemy.), i 'm 100% all for this projection COUNT ME IN!

link is totally a nature guy but i lowkey feel like he would make a great veterinarian 🥺 he's just a little guy who loves his silly little creatures 🥺🥺🥺 what do you think about revali going to flight school to be a pilot 😳 like i think if revali wasn't doing something viciously intense like. becoming a neurosurgeon or some shit, anything related to aviation is absolutely right up his alley. DEF agree with him being a perfectionist. a 99.9% will make revali lose his shit, he'll be in his professor's office hours taking up the whole time just arguing why he deserves a 103%

link brings home strays all the time and gives revali the 🥺 eyes, and revali is very weak for both link and a cute little creature, but he has to be the voice of reason since they realistically cannot take care of a pet full-time with how demanding school is on both of them. so to compromise, they foster the strays and take care of them with the local vet until they can be taken to a shelter for adoption. link gets hands-on experience which is good for his vet program but he also cries his eyes out every time they send off one of the animals because those are his babies 🥺 link with his strays is that one tiktok that's like BITCH I'M A MOTHER!!!!! NO DRAMA!!!!!

to deal with link's post-foster pet depression, zelda brings her puppy terrako to their apartment to let link cry and play with him, while revali just rolls his eyes (and secretly is looking into surrounding shelters and pet stores to find the perfect pet for the both of them once school isn't so intense for them anymore 🥺)

do you think they have study dates at a cafe or do they stay home and rot in the living room studying together? because i love the idea of study dates but if link is a bio major looking to become a vet and reval is an aviation student trying to become a pilot, these bitches must be stressed out of their mind i think. the week before finals week they're camping out in the living room and haven't slept in their bedroom for a couple days, the room is covered in papers and diagrams and books and pens and markers and flashcards and sticky notes. revali's hair is a mess which is a rare occasion, and it's held up by one of those hair claw clips, he has his glasses on, meanwhile link is lying facedown on the floor having his third breakdown of the hour. in this au i'm thinking that revali is a decent enough cook but neither of them have the energy or the time to go to the grocery store or kitchen to cook an actual meal, so they're living off of takeout and instant noodles for those two weeks. but revali definitely is the one in charge of time maintenance and prying link's ipad out of his hands to make him take a shower or drink water

it all pays off in the end because they both get high grades on their finals!!! link and revali cheer but immediately go to their bed, curl up around each other and sleep for the rest of the weekend because these bitches are exhausted 😭 hashtag ScholarLife

I'm here to ask a question about LoZ. so, I have a friend who plays and recommended it to me because she knows I love open world games and breath of the wild is (apparently) one of the best open world games ever and I've been hesitating ever since. she might be a little biased tho lol

and like. there's a sale going on right now for botw, so the recommendation just kind made itself known in my memory again

anyway so, basically I'm here to ask if it'll be worth it? I mean, the general consensus wherever I go seems to be 'amazing, go get it u won't regret it'

(and, this is totally optional, but if you could answer asap that would be great because idk when the sale ends, thank you)

I think it's obvious by now that I am a //massive// Zelda fan so tbh I'm likely no less bias than your friend lmfao, but that being said I'm going to try and give as balanced a response as possible!

Pros

BotW is beautiful, and I mean b e a u t i f u l . The graphics have this lovely watercolour quality to them as an ode to the artstyle used in Skyward Sword, but more crisp & refined. Unlike a lot of the big open world games (looking at you skyrim) BotW doesn't sacrifice colour or try to be "gritty", but rather leans into that soft-apocalypse, studio ghibli vibe.

The narrative is equally lovely and fulfilling, and depending upon what order you collect Link's memories in you will likely have a different gameplay experience. You'll also meet a lovable cast of characters to whom you'll end up unreasonably attached, which will ultimately break your heart in the end,,, I apologise in advance, but I promise you it's worth the pain.

On that note, do it for my bitch-ass bird son. You'll know him when you meet him.

Link can jump. This will mean very little to you if you've not played a LoZ game before, but my boy can fucking JUMP.

You can also climb pretty much everything (bar like one specific material) which means if you want to get to that Cool Thing Over There, then with a mix of mix of ungodly arrogance, sheer willpower, and a lot of stamina potions, you can. If you suffer from the magpie brain (ie. you see a new shiny thing and become immediately sidetracked from your original objective) this will mean that you take about 10x as long as you should to do literally anything, but my god is it fun.

The soundtrack gives me feelings that I cannot put into words, and the voice acting is //phenomenal//. Importantly, Link himself does not have a voice actor which is the only correct choice considering he's been heavily implied throughout the entire LoZ franchise to be an elective mute, and I would have //hated// hearing him speak.

Link is also just a very sweet & funny golden retriever boy who occasionally sasses back like nobody's business. 10/10 protagonist.

If you like women, you will like them even more by the end. If you don't like women, there's a 90% chance you'll seriously reconsider it upon meeting [REDACTED].

The game has something for everyone: you like exploring? Well you're going to do a lot of that. You like collectables? There are so many outfits (that you can dye to your liking!) and a wholeass compendium to fill out. You like puzzles? You'll certainly find your fair share. You like combat? The basic mechanics are what you'd expect with there are enough different enemy types to keep it interesting, but dO NOT FIGHT A LYNEL WITHOUT MAKING SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH WEAPONS BC THEY WILL BREAK AND LEAVE YOU WITH A VERY ANGRY VERY MEAN MAN TRYING TO KILL YOU.

It is genuinely very good value for money, and even more so if you can get it on sale! Not only do you have the mainline game & all its side-quests, but there's also the expansion pass, and, of course, an entire sequel just ready and waiting!

Cons

Sometimes the open world can feel a little too open. Considering the game's context, it makes sense, but comparatively games like Skyrim feel more densely packed with Things To Do, whereas BotW has several areas of overgrown nothingness that are lovely to look at, but not especially interesting (though this is better rectified in TotK).

You can't swim underwater. This was not rectified in TotK, though I dearly wish it had been.

A lot of fans used to complain about the temple format of p much every Zelda game up until this point, so the developers essentially removed temples altogether and instead replaced them with only four (technically optional) Divine Beasts, plus Hyrule Castle itself. I... did not like this. I'm a big puzzle girlie, and though BotW has shrines scattered across the landscape—most of which are puzzle-based—I personally felt that this substitute was lacking in comparison to the original. TotK does improve on this by reintroducing temples, but I still could have gone for a few more (Skyward Sword was the opposite of this, with very linear gameplay which a lot of people hated, but I personally will stand by SS's Ancient Cistern until my dying breath, and Twilight Princess had some really innovative temples that I have replayed several times over).

On a semi-adjacent note, the final boss just... wasn't my favourite. That's not to say it was bad, only as boss fights go I've had better (I did, however, like the final segment of that fight).

You will develop an immediate fear response to the Guardian music.

Ultimately though, I absolutely do think you should buy it, and am jealous that you'll get to have that bright-eyed bushy-tailed first-time experience, because believe me, if I could erase my memories and play BotW all over again, I would.

What I like about them

His bravery and determination! This boy has endless perseverance and six hundred yen to his name and he will make the most of both of them. An Egyptian God couldn't kill him in a way that mattered, and people really think they're going to stop him when he puts his mind to something? Please. He's also snarky and funny as hell (in the manga / English dub of the anime, at least). Love this boy.

What I dislike about them

In the early parts of the manga he was a perv toward women because haha, perversion is so funny, right? 🙃 No, it's not. Rest in peace, Takahashi, but I hate how much you included male characters being pervs in the early chapters of the manga. (Jounouchi was far from the only victim of this.)

Favourite moment

Either when he stayed in the Black Crown to rescue Yuugi during the fire, or the pier duel when he broke through the Millennium Rod's control to save Yuugi from drowning. 😭 My heart will never recover fr.

Least favourite moment

Again, the moments in the early part of the manga when he was a perv toward the female characters . . . so fucking gross.

A situation with this character that I want to see explored more

Honestly I feel like not enough attention is paid to the fact that the home Jounouchi comes from is not only broken, but that he's scraping by by the skin of his teeth working part-time jobs (which he really shouldn't even be doing as a high school student, but does it anyway to support himself and his piece of shit dad). Like jokes are made in the manga about how Jounouchi will jump at the chance to make some money, or how he'll scarf down any food he can get his hands on, but like, yeah! He's dirt poor! His dad is a worthless scumbag who is abusive and neglectful and doesn't work! He has food insecurity because again, he's broke as hell. And yet he never makes this anyone else's problem, he doesn't resent his sister at all for getting to leave with their mom (and instead just loves her endlessly) . . . he's a great kid and doesn't get enough appreciation for the shit hand he was dealt in life and how he just bares his teeth in a grin and deals with it anyway. An interesting AU for this character

I like my AU where he still survived Ra's attack in Battle City, but did so at the cost of losing his memory (which leads to Shizuka taking him back to Hanafuda City with her to live with their mom after the tournament is over). And of course A Candle in the Dark is my magnum opus, and also counts since it's a canon divergence.

A crossover

I still love my Legend of Zelda crossover, which is less a crossover and more of a blend of the Hylian cycle surviving into modern times . . . even though it's in no way canon, Jounouchi having the Spirit of the Hero is canon in my heart.

Jounouchi/Yuugi, of course. I maintain this ship would be so, so much more popular if people read the manga / the anime was actually faithful to the manga.

None, tbh, although I do really like his dynamic with Anzu . . . if Yuugi didn't exist then I would probably ship Jounouchi with her. But since Yuugi exists, lol, nope.

BROTP

Jounouchi & Anzu, since Yuugi exists. Their relationship development is just so good. They literally start at the very bottom of "only tolerate each other for Yuugi's sake," but then by the time Battle City rolls around they're hanging out without Yuugi and Anzu is enthusiastically cheering him on. (Not to mention how she told off Kaiba for his sake? Baller.) Their relationship is sooooo good.

And of course, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Shizuka! The little sister ever. The one who inspires Jounouchi to keep fighting, for her sake if nothing else. The one who wanted to give him courage right back! It's really unfortunate that Takahashi didn't do more with Shizuka—she deserved so much better, she deserved to show that she has the same fire her brother does!—but that's okay. I can fill in the gaps myself. <3

NOTP

Jounouchi/Kaiba and Jounouchi/Mai, and to a slightly lesser extent Jounouchi/Atem because it really doesn't make sense with Yuugi there / I can't do that to Yuugi. (It doesn't make sense because canonically Jounouchi always picks Yuugi over Atem, and I can't do that to Yuugi because Yuugi already feels inferior to Atem; having his best friend pick Atem over him would be just cruel.)

An assortment of headcanons! 

He's allergic to cats! He has a Kuriboh keychain on his keyring that Yuugi gave him. (He gave a Baby Dragon keychain to Yuugi in return.) He has a Sonic the Hedgehog cell phone charm while Shizuka has a Tails one. He associates miso soup with being sick because it's what his mom used to make for him when he was little. His favorite fruit is satsuma oranges, because when his parents were fighting before his mom left, he'd put orange slices in his mouth and smile around them, which would make Shizuka laugh / distract her from the fighting. He's good at math. His favorite NES game is Battletoads, though he's never beaten it. He's a decent cook, because he had to learn or he wouldn't eat after his mom left. He doesn't ever drink alcohol because of the alcohol-related trauma that comes with having an abusive alcoholic as a father. (And similarly, any partners drinking alcohol would be a massive turn-off.) He's bisexual. He likes games of chance, but never gambles for money because the reality that he could lose that money gives him (metaphorical) hives. He learned how to hotwire a car when he was thirteen, and knows how to drive even though he never gets his driver's license. He grows up to be a radio DJ with a talk show all his own after high school. He also does Let's Plays and game commentary. He doesn't have a co-host for his radio show because he talks so much he honestly doesn't need one. (He's got the gift of gab.) He's actually pretty good at basketball. -He would be laughing constantly. He would think anything with this kind of physics is hilarious

Stardew Valley:

-I don't really think he would care about or understand the plot, but I think he would manage to build an insane farming empire where he has billions of gold

-He has 1,500 hours on one save file and when the crew asked him about it, he said he was just trying to beat the game

-Franky cries everytime he watches her play it bc of all the depressing storylines. He wanted to learn more about the game on his own, so he could chat with Robin about it, but the first piece of "research" he came across was Ben Drowned and he thought it was real, so he tries to suggest that Robin plays other games instead because he's scared it'll happen to her

-This is Chopper's favorite "horror" game

-He gets so scared every time a ghost jumps out

-Always runs and hides from the ghosts instead of vacuuming them up

-Had Usopp fight all the boss battles for him because he's too scared

What's Link's height in Zelda Breath of the Wild ?

Most players tend to say that Link's height ranges from 4'10" (1.47 m) to 5'7" (1.70 m), assuming he is short in our reality scale as well.

What if I told you this is not the case, what if Link was actually tall ? What if I told you creatures/entities are just freaks of nature in Hyrule kingdom ?

This topic is a quite recurrent one regarding any Zelda game which has been discussed many times but I'd like to give an insight on it tbh :)

As always several methods were used nonetheless only one stood out of the happy internet :

Overall, Bread Pirate's method seems good using an external tool which consideres one unit (in terms of distances & coordinates) in ZBOTW memory editor equates one meter finding out Link is 1.584 m tall (5'2").He didn't take the perspective distortion (parallax) into account since link was standing a certain amount of distance back while measuring the metal box in front meaning that he may end up being taller.

I honestly believe we could get Link's height in other way.

But throughout our researches we have to proceed from a in-game defined fact and try not to use any assumptions that could lead to unnecessary uncertainties.

Note: We gotta be careful of how we use or/and make assumptions since worked out in a wrong way it'd probably lead to sussy results or totally mess up the final results.

Traveling through Hyrule kingdom and talking to different characters/NPCs, We can identify some crunchy info, especially in Gerudo town where we can talk to Deltan (you know the hunched over gerudo crying at the bar about {something I don't have the energy mentioning because I'm not a psychologist nor somebody who likes getting himself in stories he doesn't belong in} related to her past love relationship) who eventually ends up telling us she is 8 feet tall :

(I tried reading the dialogue in multiple languages but nothing very relevant beside in English, she just says that the dude who turned her down was 3 heads (might be gerudo heads as it stays her perspective) shorter than her).

So Deltan being 8 feet is our in-game canonical fact (average adult female gerudo Deltan-like in-game canon height), notice that Deltan is an adult female gerudo specifically and as you might have noticed there are different gerudo's height categories (non exhaustive representations) :

Moreover, we know Deltan is gerudo villager not warrior, it's really important to differentiate gerudo villagers & gerudo warriors.Indeed, they present different heights where one is a shorter than the other respectively.

Keep in mind that they may seem tall to players but are not all equally tall.

Now the next step is to find an adult female gerudo similar to Deltan in the straightest stance on a flat enough surface.To do so we could check in Kara Kara Bazaar but there aren't too much flat surfaces, checking in Gerudo town though we can see the gerudo named Frelly who offers morse-like (I forgot about the name of the ZBOTW specie) rides for a certain amount of rupees.

Problem: She keeps moving her body and clapping her hands x) , I know business is business but empirical game knowledge is a better business lmao.

Almighty solution: To get her to a straight stance we have to hit her, yes gotta hit her for not standing straight x) .

After taking a couple dozens of pictures, here is the one which is to my mind the most accurate one for the height comparaison experiment (do not pay too much attention to the low image resolution) :

Let's apply pixel measurements to get proportions.We basically wanna measure link from a bit higher than his left foot at the front so that it matches the level of the gerudo right foot in front and to avoid as much perspective distortion as possible.

We measure Link all the way up his body till a tiny bit lower than his head to get his true height without taking too much of his hair & white veil into account.

Regarding Frelly, she'll be measured up to her head but we'll also subtract her heels' height to her total height (because you know people aren't measured with heels nor with big haircuts lol) :

Finally doing quick maths we get Link's height :

Unexpectedly, Link is surprisingly very tall, don't get me wrong, he looks short for sure relatively to his world.

People really need to stop assuming realistic games fit reality height scales because in Zelda Breath of the Wild Hylians are just giants which means that overall monsters, men, women, entities, vegetables, mushrooms etc.. do not fit our world average height scales by any means.

That being said, Link turns out being pretty tall in our world scale and towers over most humans in terms of height so we now know that he isn't as short as people in the community thought.

It's indeed unbelievable that Link is actually taller than many of us but this theory is based off of an in-game reference unlike other ones which makes it worthy to vouch for to be fair ;)

Sidenote: I obviously made ton of measurements where height ranged most of the experiments from 6'1" (1.85 m) at least to 6'5" (1.95 m) at most and would results should stay in-between this range even trying yourself.

Edit: Doing accurate measurements gives a margin of error of ± 0.01 m (about ± 0.004 in) for ZBOTW Link's height.

it was fun and a really nice game and I managed to complete it even if I suck at videogames so like. Gameplay wise I can't say anything about it except maybe that I keep forgetting which button does what but tbh that might just be me being stupid again❤ OH another gameplay thing I didn't like was my horsie being in danger. Stay away from her get a job!!!!!! Also all the times I got stuck in rivers and ravines and such and had to reload a previous save file bc I felt bad teleporting and leaving my horse down there :/

Plot wise I think I really liked the beginning of the game the most, it's still good as it progresses but I kept asking myself some questions that maybe are just really stupid and/or I just missed the answer to it but like. Yeah. 1. how the fuck did all the champions die against ganon? I can understand mipha bc she's a healer but urbosa??? Daruk who should be unkillable with his shield? Like girl I get link is special but this doesn't add up to me :/ 2. Why did zelda's powers never manifest before? 3. Where the hell did zelda grab that horsie from (during the final battle) like that is NOT one of my horsies

But yeah I'm still playing it and doing some side quests rn so maybe this^ will change

Also I guess I didn't really like how calamity ganon doesn't say anything like he's just there like. What is going on with him.......... Now for the open world, I really like open worlds in theory bc I love exploring but this place seems so empty? There are so many areas where it's just grass and like. Girl not even a pebble? I think it would be something a bit less like Nintendo's take and a bit more like this-

Wind is the darkest skinned of them. I'm thinking Pacific Islander level of brown, well loved by the sun and much harder to burn than literally all of his brothers.

Twi is close to, if not darker than Wind, depending o how you feel about the Gerudo Twilight theory. He's got darker skin from his heritage, but also because he's a freaking farm boy! As a former farm-girl (man I miss that) I can say this- come summer you're either red as a hen's comb or you're brown as their eggs cause there isn't much in between!

Sky is tan. Not as much as most Skyloftians, because he's always been something of a sleepy remlit and tends to doze in shady places. He's tan though, a warm sun-kissed color, and definitely handles heat better than anyone blow him on this list.

Wild is nearly as tan as Sky. Kid runs around half clothed most of the time, his tan is everywhere and he is incapable of burning. Even without sun, I hc him as having a naturally darker skin shade, although I also have him dealing with vitiligo, so he does get selectively crispy in some spots, which is annoying as all get out.

When split, Red has a healthy tan from being out in the sun a lot, and Green's a got a softish one himself. Blue's inside of the forge a lot after their adventure, so he doesn't see the sun unless he's training, patrolling, or got dragged out by Zelda or his brothers. Vio though? Boy looks like he's burn if he stood in the sun for ten minutes, has to wear long sleeves or suffer throughout summer (and suffer he does) so he and Shadow have to share a sun umbrella in the warmer months when they go places.

Collectively of course, Four is only lightly tanned, hardly enough to be noticed, unless you stand him next to Legend or Wars.

Time is a healthy golden himself, I think. Like, again, farm life does that to you. Also he's got a wife he has no problem with him working shirtless, so this ain't no farmers tan, this is the legit thing. He burns easy-ish (Kolkiri ae essentially Irish), but he is capable of tanning.

Hyrule is pale. Like, the sun has been hiding behind clouds of malice for ages, you can't tell me he's tan. He's naturally of a darker skin tone, maybe slightly olive (I've seen hcs that Catalia is essentially Italy) but he just looks sick most of the time because he's never seen the sun since he started adventuring. (I have a friend who's a light olive, but tends to hide indoors, so they kinda look sickly when they don't get any sun, even when they're perfectly fine).

Wars is pale. Like, he can't tan. There's a double purpose for that scarf, and while he gets teased, it works well as a veil against harsh sunlight. He's kinda just- white. Like, not super pale, but the Gerudo desert would kill him without sun-block.

Legend could be mistaken for a porcelain doll. Like, he grew up in the shade of an orchard, and while, sure, he tanned when he was travelling abroad, he also spent a lot of time in Lorule, which has very poor lighting, and afterwards he was always galivanting around in big hats and weird clothes that covered most of him. Legend cannot tan well, and it always comes at the cost of a sunburn first.

And boy oh boy did I get carried away with that! But yes, anon, I agree. These boys ain't all white.
