Aziraphale sat at his celestial desk, diligently working on Heaven's eternal bureaucracy. The paperwork was endless, and while he understood the importance of celestial duties, he couldn't help but yearn for a break. As he shuffled through a stack of heavenly documents, he noticed a peculiar rustling sound.

Glancing down, Aziraphale was astounded to see the white cat, nonchalantly pawing at a stack of celestial documents. "Oh, my goodness," he exclaimed, his angelic composure momentarily shaken. "How on Earth—I mean, Heaven—did you get here?"

The cat, ever enigmatic, looked up at Aziraphale with those wise, enigmatic eyes and leaped onto the angel's desk, scattering scrolls and reports in its wake. Aziraphale's colleagues, a host of heavenly beings, turned their attention to the celestial cat and exchanged amused glances.

With a bemused chuckle, Aziraphale couldn't help but scratch the cat behind its ears. "Well, I suppose you'll need a name befitting your charm now, won't you? " he mused, as the cat purred in approval.

As the celestial beings in Heaven watched in fascination, Aziraphale began to unravel the mystery of the cat's presence in the realm of angels, all the while trying to balance his newfound office work and the delightful company of his feline friend.

König - Canon

Speech and Accent in Canon

A quick note to start off; as König speaks a Standard High German in game I will be focusing primarily on that. ( For further context on why German sounds the way it does I may make a future post about German and Austrian Speech with some examples and context - I will link it when I do.) Just know the German alphabet is pronounced slightly differently than English and varies from dialect to dialect.

Lets start with the most important - König (kö·nich)

Ö - being pronounced somewhere between spoon and flute.

Ch - being similar an extended h- .

Know that peoples accents will vary depending on their proficiency and origins. From his voice lines his accent and phonetics -

His English is clear on his D and W. I know that D = Z/S and W = V are common confusions for some German-English speakers and I understand that they're an easier way to convey such an accent in writing but they don't apply here.

Notable accent quirks he does exhibit are;

Over annunciation of H like in "veHicle'

"DZ Marked" - 'Dae Zet Markt' - this should only come up when pronouncing these letters individually.

The German R is pronounced as a trill made at the back of the throat and he does this often.

Occasionally he will drop and -er to a lighter -ah and a th- to a more natural d-.

"Giergah Here" - " Enemies in die AO"

He does frequently use short/voiceless endings where words ending in D/ED get dropped short and sound closer to a T.

"Enemy Downt" - "Enemy Markt"

Though he does not seem to do this for voiced S endings: EYES = ICE.

Contractions (words like "We're" and "It's") are just as common in German as in English but do not have any common forms for "I am" or "it is" and this usually will carry over to English where some German speakers will not use "I'm" or "it's"

König does use 'is' contractions like "the door's jammed".

He switches between "I'll take the armour" "I Will take the key-card" in casual language so either works.

Does it involve planning ahead, does it depend on the mission, or are they chosen spontaneously? Speaking of your crewmates, what are they up to today?

Desiree: "Mm...well, most of ze time, our course is guided by ze whims of our Captain. However spontaneous zhey can be."

Desiree: "But zat does not mean zat Monsieur Aquila is disinterested in ze rest of ze crew's ideas for future destinations -- au contraire. Monsieur Aquila is very charmed by ze tales of non-Magique pirates, who were quite democratic in zheir approach to sailing ze seas. Everyzhing zhey did was settled by popular vote. Alzhough Monsieur Aquila frequently proposes new destinations and missions for us, he will always give ze others a chance to disagree or propose alternatives. Zhere have even been some select times, when any member of ze crew has actively opposed ze mission, that ze Empyrean will fly to ze destination and only zhose who approve of ze mission shall undertake it."

Mon Ami Alton bypassed Monsieur Aquila's 'targets' zhat made him collide with me prior to my joining ze crew, after all.

Desiree: "But yes -- alzhough Monsieur Aquila is our captain and navigator, he is always open to ozher destinations. I doubt Monsieur Aquila would've directed us toward ze United States as much as he 'as if not for Monsieur Zain requesting it...and of course if Mon Ami Alton @oneirataxia-girl ever requires any new equipment, Monsieur Aquila will immediately plot a course to fetch it."

[Desiree smiles a bit more affectionately. Jules's devotion to the people in his life was one of the things Desiree admired most about him.]
