You thought you knew what it was to fear.

Six years old, running, running from a sister whose sparking fingertips had shifted the world into those who have and those who have not. You thought that learning to run at the crackle of popping embers and jumping at the sight of one meant to be your truest ally was fear.

Eleven years old, a mother's desperate touch, words whispered in the night, then gone, gone, gone. You learned then that fear must be absence, the cold brought by the reality of being left with no one to stand between you and the flames.

Thirteen years old, finally standing, finally being heard, finally showing you were worthy to lead, worthy to be called son. You learned then that fear was fire. Pleading, crying, on your knees, fear was a father demanding respect and the knowledge that nothing short of impossibility could take that fear away.

Sixteen years old, hope spluttered into your heart and dared to take fear's hard worn place. You chased, you schemed, you fought, and impossible became possible. Perhaps this was how fear died.

But you did not know fear.

Sixteen years old, a twelve year old child running through the trees away from a stronghold you'd risked everything to save him from. Anger, you expected. Frustration, disappointment, the chorus of failure, failure, failure that never quite ended. But what you did not expect was the earth to move beneath your fist as you smacked the ground in frustration, the shifting of rock as if it were no more than water beneath your fingers.

But the water too betrayed you, as you ran back to the ship, back toward normalcy and the everyday sort of fear you thought you knew. Perhaps it was the anger, the frustration, the disappointment, but as you tried to loose the rowboat you'd so carefully hidden, the waves rather than the ropes responded to your touch.

It wasn't until you were alone in your room that you finally began to understand that you had never known anything at all about fear. Perhaps it was the delusion brought about by lack of sleep, irritation, or a hundred other things, but in that fateful moment you looked at the space between your fingertips and tried the impossible.

A faulty hatch was easy to blame for the gust of wind that roared through your room, ripping open doors and scattering your careful collection of scrolls across the room. But it could not be blamed for what grew inside your heart as you began to wonder.

Sixteen years old, sitting shell shocked between the remains of your honor, your purpose, your sense of self. Somehow, you had gotten it wrong, everyone had gotten it wrong, and now here you were, with the earth sliding at your feet, the water pulling at your arms, the air dancing between your fingertips, and the fire dying inside your heart.

Fear was not sisters or fathers, not failure or duty, not even a burned face and its shattered honor.

Sixteen years old, and now Zuko knew that fear was hope. And hope might be the one thing that finally shattered him.

Day 6: Royalty (& historical AU)

In a world Where the Fire Nations wins in the beginning with their conquest, but certaily found peace.

"After Prince Lu Ten's death, Prince Iroh grieved, but also did Azulon: Iroh can't have more children, so the succesion is doomed. If Prince Ozai is the next on the throne, they would start a new war, and Azulon is tired. Until a decision that makes Iroh When he secludes with his father in which they made an arragement:

1. Iroh steps down as Heir, but stays as his father side.

2. Ozai would not inhereted the throne.

3. That Prince Zuko, would be the next Fire Lord, with Iroh as his adviser and mentor.

So, since he is ten, Prince Zuko is the Heir of the entire Fire Nation, their colonies and allies.

That ripped this family in two factions: the one Who supported Prince Ozai's claim (and also Princess Azula) as Fire Lord, for their power as firebenders and their supremacy.

They were called "The Golds".

The one Who supported the Heir Prince Zuko’s true claim, were Prince Iroh, Princess Ursa, and Fire Lord Azulon himself. They thought the Young Prince, even if he wasn't a prodigy, was a very skilled swordman, has a better understanding of the other nations, and was very kind hearted and loved by the common.

They were called "The Reds".

Between The loyalist of the Red Prince, There was a Southern Water Tribe boy, Who studied with Master Piandao, at the same time as do the Prince. They become very close friends, until they grow up.

Some would say, that they were more than that.

Until the day The Golds usurped the throne after Azulon's death, and Prince Iroh was missed in one of his diplomatics Journeys. That left the young Heir of seventeen as a fool.

The day he, his Mother and Some companion, make an honorary funeral for his grandsire, the warrior Sokka (with his Sister, Lady Katara ) came with something: the Fire Crown, and, at the dawn of that tragic day, Prince Zuko became Fire Lord Zuko.

A civil war started. Brother against Sister. Son against father.

But then the Avatar wakes up, and with that, the times runs out. The first one to keep him on their side, would won the war.

And The Dance of Dragons begun. "

Well, I can say that the "historical" part it's based in "Fire and Blood" event called "Dance of Dragons". I'm in my "House of the dragon" phase, and I couldn't stop it. The idea came to me as a revelation, and more ideas come. I would really like to write a fic.

Bounty Hunter Zuko AU

(I do believe that Zuko’s main outfit in this AU would be his outfit during the Southern Raiders episode.)

I have had this idea for a really long time. The premise of this au is that after Zuko’s banishment he quickly realizes that his father sent him on a wild goose chase. Instead of going to hunt the avatar he becomes a lone bounty hunter. It pays well and it’s a good way to better his skills.

After Aang is released from the iceberg he has a bit of a dilemma because on one hand he doesn’t want to do what his father sent him to do, but on the other hand the avatar is a really good bounty! In the end Zuko decides to hunt Aang for the bounty and also for a big ol’ “fuck you” to Ozai.

For season one it’s pretty much the same relationship with the Gaang and Zuko. He tries to capture the avatar and Aang always gets away. Most of the time while Aang is figuring out how to escape or waiting for a rescue Aang tries to start a conversation with Zuko because he’s just like that. After a while Zuko figures out that the avatar attracts a lot of attention from a variety of people, including those who are on a bounty list. So, one day they come to a truce. Zuko won’t try to turn Aang in, but in exchange Zuko gets to tag along and do his job. They both agree much to the dismay of Katara and Sokka. Later he would save the two of them from rival bounty hunters. Only then would the water siblings would be more open to trusting him.
