Calling the historians of tumblr who know a lot about really obscure parts of history:

Do you guys think kids in ancient times had sleepovers at each other's homes?

Like I can't imagine wanting to spend time with a friend and sleep at their house is new thing, that just seems natural to me.

Like what if kids in ancient Rome had to tell their friend, "You have to ask my mom if you can sleep over because she'll tell me no if I ask."

What if some mischievous group of kids from ancient Greece snuck out at night to dare each other say the names of Underworld gods because that just wasn't something you were supposed to do back then? Then when one kid was finally brave enough to call out 'Hades,' their friend suddenly grabbed them to scare them

What if kids in Mesoamerica had begged their parents to let them have a friend over, then they stayed up all night talking even after their mom had told them to keep the volume down multiple times?

Like sleepovers can't be that new right? It seems so natural to have, but so mundane that they likely weren't recorded in history.

I feel like most people focus more on ancient languages, cultures, and wars, but not enough people seek curious about their normal, mundane parts of life. The things they did that we likely still do today without even thinking about it.

Wear looser clothing with lighter colors, make sure you are hydrated

Please take extra caution if you have any chronic illnesses that are effected by heat, like POTs, and make sure you're drinking a lot of water and staying in places with shade and AC

It's going to be so bad that some areas are already preparing for blackouts and making emergency cooling shelters

Some tips I've gotten from my family:

Close your blinds/ curtains during the day to keep some of the sunlight and heat out, and open them in the evening or at night. It also would help if you put a fan into the open window and blew air out instead of in

If you close your blinds upward instead of downward, it actually blocks out more sun

Perry the Platypus Headcanons

As much as he loves being an intelligent secret agent, he also loves the domesticity of being a family pet

It's super comforting for him to come back home to his family, especially sleeping in the boys' room where he can see that they're both okay and hear their breathing. He knows Heinz would never target them, but sometimes he worries about worse villains

Sometimes he will intentionally place himself in front of Candace to trip her, just to minorly inconvenience her when she's being particularly "much." It's not because he doesn't like her, it's actually quite the opposite, like how friends and family will mess with you sometimes.

I like to think he "purrs" when he's getting scritches, and it's like this trilling sound

Perry snores and his family adores it. It's like this soft, quiet, occasionally squeak. He doesn't even realize he does it.

He has a social life outside of his family and work. Sure it's with other OWCA agents, but they are still his friends and sometimes when he disappears, it's to hang out with them

He didn't even know he was supposed to have spurs on his legs until he saw it in a nature documentary. His had been removed when he was a baby before he was adopted off. Sometimes he thinks it'd be cool to have them but he's also glad he doesn't since they can cause excruciating pain in humans

He has his own pool in the back yard. Originally it was a huge aquarium, but after mysterious circumstances, it ended up as just a normal smaller pool, and he's content with it.

Sometimes he wishes he could talk so he could tell the boys that he can't lay eggs because he's a male. The amount of times he's heard, "Hey, maybe he'll lay an egg," is too many.

He's not above begging for table scraps. He'll lay under the table and grunt until someone slips him food

Doof is in his contacts. It started when Perry arrived too early to one of Doof's schemes, so he just gave him his number like, "You know what, Perry the Platypus, I'll just text you when it's ready."

He loves water but he hates getting baths. In true pet fashion, he gets post-bath zoomies where he runs around and rubs up against everything, getting all the furniture wet. It's so routine that multiple family members will try to catch him with a towel before he can get to the livingroom (it rarely works, and when of does, it's Linda because Candace also used to run around after bath time when she was a toddler, and so did Phineas)

Perry was a young recruit in OWCA. They started training him when he was still a baby. And young platypuses are clumsy, they can't walk very well and they kinda just tumble around.. OWCA kept many videos of this, since they also keep a lot of baby pictures and videos of other agents

One time Candace was dating a boy who was kind of a jerk, and Perry scared him off by standing up on two legs to threaten him

Do you think the reason why perry and candace manages to have the ability to share multiple dreams (ex. phineas and ferb busted, wizard of odd, etc) is because they once switched bodies?

I was watching Phineas and Ferb and had to abruptly pause because we got a tornado watch

And I think I accidentally found my favorite screenshot

I personally think it's fascinating that we have evidence to suggest that even millions of years ago, we cared for our sick, elderly, and disabled, even though logically that would have slowed families down and made things harder.

Humans are and have always been social creatures that run on empathy and love (y'know when things like racism and capitalism aren't introduced)

We have fossils of people who had developmental and intellectual disabilities who were clearly cared for by their families. We didn't care that they were different, and we didn't care that they may need more attention or resources, they were our loved ones. They were our children, our siblings, our parents or grandparents. Maybe they weren't related at all, and someone just saw someone who needed help.

We have fossils from people who had broken bones, who likely would have died on their own had they not been cared for by others.

We have always run on love and empathy and compassion.

I can't help but think that when things like currencies were invented and we started keeping resources from people unless they could give us something in return, it started to shift more people toward being crueler and greedy.

Maybe it's even the reason for, "I hate X group of people because their presence threatens my chances at getting currency, which threatens my chances to feed myself or my family," even if it was untrue and irrational.

I think hoarding resources and making them harder to attain may have contributed to the growth in hatred, greed, and cruelty.

I think if we were just kind and shared openly and cared for each other, things would get better and people might stop being so hateful and cruel.

But then again, I'm not a scientist.

Microwave: No but I can make the plate hotter than the surface of the sun

Microwave: This plate will burn your hands through 4 layers of towel

I got the notification for this and thought it was an old classical oil painting for a second

I forgot they made a whole episode about just this fuckin thing

I feel like Dan one day learned what it was called and was like, "Brilliant, I need to spread the word," so he wrote a fifteen minute episode and a song about it

This random scene just popped into my head, where Doofenshmirtz pulls a lever to drop a cage onto Perry as usual, only Perry is just a little bit off with his placement so the cage accidentally smashes down onto his tail, and Perry lets out the most pathetic, high pitched chirp-whine sound

And Heinz immediately rushes over to lift the cage off like, "Oh! Perry the Platypus, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you- Well it was on the agenda, but not like this! Oh wow, yeah, that does look painful."

And they put a pause on their usual Good-Evil battle while Doof puts a cold pack and bandages on his tail. Of course he wants his nemesis in perfect condition for when they fight, even if the injury was something as small as a bruised tail.

Once the pain has dulled, they resume their usual fight, only this time they both mutually avoid hitting his tail.

If Doof hurts Perry in a way that wasn't pre-planned, he feels bad.
