“I think when I started my channel I assumed school would be the biggest thing I helped people with, but when I find out I've helped people with confidence and other things it really affects me. It's just why I do what I do and why I started this channel.” - Jade Bowler

“I would say in the grand scheme of everything, it really just doesn’t matter. Whatever you want to do, you can do it whatever grades you happen to get. Now, I'm a firm believer that if you're passionate about making something happen, you'll make it happen.” - Jade Bowler

“I used to wait outside concerts, I used to enter competitions to meet him, I used to queue! I think that’s a great thing because I now know how to treat people how they want to be treated.”
“Someone said something really lovely; ‘when you speak to Becky it's like you're the only person in the room’. Now when I speak to someone I try and make it like that.” - Becky James

“I got my silver plaque the other day and I’m stood there like ‘oh my god, that’s my name and surely this isn’t mine?’ It just feels numb - one day it’ll sink in! You don't process it. To me, I've still got five thousand.” - Becky James

“I think, at a certain point in my life, I started to view writing music as therapy. If I had a feeling that was particularly strong, or I didn’t know how to go about approaching a problem in my life, I would just put it into a song. Music would help me work through a problem, but at the same time, it was a way of me letting go of certain feelings.” - Jake Edwards

“People don’t want to talk about AIDS. People don’t want to acknowledge that that was a thing. Sometimes they don’t even know that that was a thing, which is terrifying, because it was only… what, 20, 30 years ago? It has entirely changed our political climate, and it’s literally changed the direction of queer rights, and some people have no idea. People say, ‘You don’t see any old gay men because they’re too scared to come out’ – no, it’s because they’re dead.
“That’s the kind of stuff that I’m passionate about. but until you watch something like that and realise that it’s important, it’s hard to entice people in to that kind of learning. And it’s the same with trans history – a lot of people, unless they already have that passion there, [think] it’s not interesting. People will look at a thumbnail and think, ‘Nah, boring’. But once you watch something like that, and once you realise how important it is, you get so hungry for it.” - Jake Edwards

“I want people to watch my videos and take something away from them, like, make them feel something. If my videos don't make someone feel something, then I've failed as a creator.” - Taz Alam

“When I’m doing a video, I don't want it to be like 'oh it's a brown girl doing a video', it's a girl doing a video who happens to be brown. I think that distinction is really important.” - Taz Alam

“I’m always trying to bring it back to being about the music, as cheesy as it sounds. I think it's so easy as a musician to get caught up in shouting your name into the void and self-promotion and all that.” - Orla Gartland

“If I wanted to be the best singer-songwriter in this one road in North Dublin then I could have done that, and have had a few glory years and felt really great about myself. Or I could have come here and scared the shit out of myself, but hopefully end up better for it.” - Orla Gartland

"I kind of just try to remind myself that whatever I'm sharing online, my old high school teacher will be able to see it, this friend of a friend will be able to see it... Just putting in perspective who is going to see it and do I want that person to know?" - Elle Mills

“I have this problem with talking about my feelings and all that stuff face to face! So my way of talking about what’s going on in my life is through video. Being closeted, it was a hard few months before I posted that video and I knew I had got to the point where I wanted people to know... But it truly felt like a weight off my shoulders because for months before that I was so unhappy and sad and like, it was a lot. Having all that support felt like all of that didn’t matter. Everything was good.” - Elle Mills

“Speaking so openly about it and how mental health affected me, and to see the comments saying ‘you’re speaking my mind’ is just the best feeling... When I had struggles, seeing other people talking about it was amazing because the first thing you want to know is that you’re not alone.”- Mark Ferris
