AO3 👏 TAGS 👏 ARE 👏 NOT 👏 SPOILERS 👏

i’m so tired of authors not tagging correctly because they don’t want to “spoil the fic”

correctly tagging your fic allows readers who DON’T want to read things like major character death, gore, mpreg or whatever may be their squick to filter your fic out from the main ship/fandom tag. not including the correct tags on your fic is harmful to readers and i’m tired of pretending it’s not.

OK so I saw this on another tweet and it applies to EVERY FANDOM. know the difference between reel/real meaning  hating on a character isnt the same as hating on the actor. add fandom tags as you retweet this please.

ao3 emails are the best emails to receive bc it’s either a comment or kudos on my work, a comment in reply to something i said on someone else’s work, or a new chapter/fic from a writer i’m subscribed to. you can never go wrong with an ao3 email. bless.

so we are now up to 6728, we're so close to 7000!

honestly I think if there are any writers who post elsewhere, and they started to post to ao3 we'd get there a lot faster lol

so I have been posting about this on twitter a lot. and a little on fb. but

ao3 (with account) has 6,692 fics for The Rookie (at time of posting) which means we have 308 until we get to 7000!

we've already posted more than 1000 during s6.

I know some of us wanna try to get to 7000 before s6 is over. soo call it a challenge? i guess lol anywho, does anyone have any prompts to help with that?

134, we only need 134 new fics before the s6 finale starts to have posted 1000 new fics to ao3 just during s6

that being said, anything that is not on ao3, like stuff that is posted elsewhere- if it gets added it counts as new to ao3, but we are going hard this season y'all.

oh what am i going to write at work today? lol I have at least 2-3 wips to work on. I am less than 12k words from 200k words, and I am less than 7 from 100 posted, I will meet both of those by the time s6 is over, that is a goal I have at least.

write weird shit. Write indulgent au fanfiction and self insert fics. Write creepy horror scenes and random character crossover dialogue. Write in a different genre. Write that sex scene that you know won’t make the cut. Write about sentient furniture turning into werewolves that try to date your MC. Write whump or hero/villain fic. Write your kink. Write your worst nightmare. Write your delusions of power and fantasies of control. Write whatever the fuck you feel like. Write whatever comes to mind. You don’t have to share it with anyone (but you can). Your writing impulses don’t define your morality anymore than your reading preferences, and actually going outside your comfort zone will improve your writing skills (making a horrifying villain sympathetic requires good characterization). Even if it doesn’t improve your skills, that’s still something you created out of nothing. It’s still valuable. Don’t let purity culture kill your creativity. That’s how culture stagnates. That’s how writing stops being fun.
