So, I was thinking I'd start using this as a place to sort of revive my desire to write. I don't know if I'll share it with anyone. We will see. But here's my thought right now on something that frustrated me recently.
A couple of weeks ago I posted two photos on Instagram within a few days of each other. The first was a selfie in which I had put a bit of makeup on - I don't always wear it, and seldom eyeshadow. I looked quite pretty so I wanted to share. It got around 70 likes, mostly from strangers, mostly male. The second photo was an absolutely stunning picture of me kayaking and my friend with her daughter on their paddle board with beautiful nature as a backdrop. It got around a dozen likes, exclusively from my real life friends. It was a much nicer photo, but you couldn't see my face or body really - it was a photo of who I AM rather than what I LOOK like. I don't know what my point is exactly here, it just struck some kind of a nerve. I'm all about body positivity, and it made me want to delete this pretty selfie I'd taken; it just made me so mad the much nicer lake photo was largely ignored. Am I crazy?
