Through My Eyes: The Genre That Refuses to Sit Still
youtube
Science Fiction isn’t just a box—it’s an impossibly big messy sandbox. It blends genres, rewrites rules, and dares to ask “what if?” In this video essay, we dive into how Sci-Fi reflects who we are, what we fear, and what we dream.
We talk: — Defining Sci-Fi — Sci-Fi vs Fantasy — Real-world tech influence — Common themes (identity! apocalypse! AI!) — Why this genre still matters more than ever
Let’s celebrate the genre that refuses to sit still. Reblogs appreciated 🚀💭

📝 Banned books aren’t the threat—thinking is
“The real danger of banned books is what happens when people start to think for themselves.”
I’ve been sitting with this idea while rereading old favorites—and making my larger video this month. It’s not just about censorship. It’s about fear.

Banned Books: A PSA You Didn’t Know You Needed
youtube
When I heard about books being banned, I couldn’t help but think of a time when I was a student, eagerly searching for stories that challenged the way I saw the world. It was always a struggle to find something that spoke to me, and the idea that others might be denied that same opportunity just hit differently.
This short is my take on what it might look like when access to those books becomes a crime. It's intense, it's a little uncomfortable, but it’s a conversation that needs to be had.

This PSA is not nice. It is not gentle. It is not here to hold your hand.
It is here to remind you: 📚 Read a book. 🧻 Touch some paper. 🧠 Your brain is starving.
From your favorite chaotic reader.

New short just dropped. It’s about media, meaning, and how sometimes no amount of clarity can change a closed mind.
I can show you a picture of a bird a thousand times—but if you’re convinced it’s water? That’s all you’ll see.

📖✨ New video essay just dropped: Why Books Still Matter ✨📖
I'veeee been thinking a lot about books the last few weeks, what makes them stick, why some haunt us for years, and ink on page can live rent-free in your head for years. So I made a video about it.
This one dives into: – How stories outlive the people who wrote them – Why banned books say more about society than the books themselves – Interpretation vs. intent – That weird electric feeling when a book hits just right – And a little peek at the fantasy series I’m writing 👀
It’s part of my video essay series Through My Eyes, where I talk about the media that shapes us and the stories that leave a mark.
đź’¬ Come yell at me about your favorite books

In the early 2000s, Samurai Jack stood with titans that are still going today, Naruto & One Piece and more... and he did it with style.
Genndy's work has always been bold, beautiful, and weird in all the best ways.

It's A Swell Country! (Without No Gun Control)
youtube
"It’s a Swell Country" from It’s a Bird… It’s a Plane… It’s Superman (1966) walks a brilliant tightrope:
It sounds like flag-waving Broadway patriotism—but It’s a cheeky, clever critique of nationalism, dressed up in showbiz sparkle.
The Superman musical may be mostly forgotten, but this number’s doing some surprising thematic heavy lifting.

Melkor might’ve corrupted entire realms. Sauron had his moment.
But Aku? Aku ruled undisputed for thousands of years.
I just dropped a video unpacking why Aku’s reign might be the most successful villain run in all of fiction. It’s a little nostalgic, a little nerdy, and full of love for Samurai Jack.

The Problem with People (2023) is one of those films that sneaks up on you.
Set against the Irish landscape, it’s about two strangers bound by grief and family, trying to figure out how to say the things we never say.
It’s funny. It’s awkward. It’s sincere in a way that doesn’t try too hard without being darkly comedic at times.

So… a student project reimagined The Odyssey as a musical and I can't stop thinking about it. Haunting vocals, gorgeous cinematography, solid animation.

Some of the most chilling things in Samurai Jack aren’t explained. They just… exist. Mute. Massive. Watching. The way this show dipped into cosmic horror without saying a word? Chef’s kiss.

Not your mama’s shakshuka 🍳 but definitely your comfort meal.
This version is packed with sweet potatoes, butternut squash, smoky sausage, onions, tomatoes, and eggs. Simmered to perfection and served with oven-toasted crispbread for scooping up every last bite.
Came out of the kitchen smelling like a warm hug.
