I tried reading a Christmas carol when I was like 10, it took me about 6 months to get through that stupid book I found it impossible to read, it’s like 100 pages it shouldn’t have taken me that long, I read so frequently and would read until like midnight at some points but I just really struggled with it for some reason, the story’s great in theory but either the formatting or the way it was written really made me hate reading it it

Enough about favorite books. What’s a book you read and absolutely hated? The book you’ve got a bone to pick with.

Honestly the one piece of good that has come out of generative ai is that I now have a proper appreciation for the frustration that my Spanish teacher used to have at google translate (i only used it once on some work when I was like 12 and it was one sentence but still)

The tumblr algorithm (or lack thereof) is weird, sometimes I’ll post something on my corner of tumblr and think ‘someone will enjoy this right?’ And there is no evidence of anyone having seen it and then I’ll post something where I think “no one will care about this but I have to share it somewhere otherwise I’ll be alone on thinking it” and it becomes my second most noted post of all time

I’m painting my wall while rewatching dead boy detectives, in episode 6 Jenny says to niko that she doesn’t question why she talks to herself all day in her room and I just had the thought that she probably means that she spends a lot of time with Edwin (watching scooby doo)

I remembered that I could use visual aids to get my point across so here are some examples of what I’m talking about from a couple of episodes in series one and two of dr who (2005-2022)

S1 e7 (the long game)

S1 e8 (Father’s Day)

S2 e2 (tooth and claw)

At this point I got bored of trying to find exact shots and decided I’d found enough to illustrate my point, I’m almost 100% certain that there are more examples of this (in fact I know that there are more examples of this, there’s a Matt smith episode where he talks to the Dalek and you get to see the pov of the Dalek)

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think something that is affecting the newest series’s of doctor who is the lack of aliens perspectives, there’s something so haunting seeing the warped vision, see the fear and fascination in the doctors eyes from the first person of whatever was chasing him, this feels quite incoherent I assure you that this makes sense I just can’t get the thought in words

That baines monologue about the family of blood is so beautiful and I think they should bring Lucy Cartwright back, I want to see her in the mirror, confuse people once again

The fence the scarecrows break through is wood, set that on fire and everything would have been fine these boys would not be crying, staring death in the eye

what I love about the amazing devil is how human their music sounds. like, there's some tiny imperfections in the voices sometimes, and you can hear where they take a breath. sure, sometimes it sounds ethereal and angelic, but even then, if you listen closely, you can hear that the people singing are actual humans. this might just be me, but I feel like a lot of music is striving too much for perfection. singers need to always be perfectly on pitch, even if they're awesome singers all by their own merit, there can never be any mistakes, hearing a tiny intake of breath is not wanted, and everyone has to sound inhuman in their perfection. but with TAD I don't feel like that, it feels somewhat grounded. whether intentional or not, their music shows that human voices have an immense power even without being tweaked to perfection. idk if they use pitch correction or not, and ultimately it doesn't matter, because even if they do, it doesn't take away from the raw emotions, and the little imperfections that make their music so much more perfect in my mind.

anyway, that's my two cents on why I love my favourite band so much lol

I’m sure that I could make a comment about that Oscar Wilde quote “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness” but I fear that if I say that with nothing else it may somehow appear that I appreciate ai in any way when I would gladly crush ai into a fine powder and make it choke those who use it

One tip I have for people creating stuff whose shadows keep getting in the way of the light is use a headtorch, it is a really simple yet effective way to have a light source not interrupted by a shadow
