I just barely persuaded my husband not to get the Ten of Swords tattooed on his body; traditionally, it shows a corpse with ten swords stuck in their body and means “utter ruin,” but he thought that if it took ten swords to kill you, then you must have put up a pretty good fight.

Sometimes i get violently hit in the face with how intrinsic Celtic superstition was laced in with my upbringing and practice! I’m reading a new book and the author suggests that when working with a new divination tool, while calibrating it, ask it yes or no questions that you already know the answer to, and the book gives specific examples, one of which “is my name ____?”

And it was so jarring to see reference of using one’s name while doing spellwork, because at least in my practice, names have immense power and influence so you just can’t go around throwing yours out all willy nilly!!!

Sooooooooooooo did a super extensive and exhaustive ritual banishment over the New Moon and oooh boy was it a l o t (and needed)

After some divination and scrying, it became clear that some old haunts— that have plagued my partner and I like fucking pests for the last near-decade—were holding on despite us taking as many literal and tangible steps to provide distance and separation between ourselves and them. So ya know, what else to do other than banish the fuck out of their clingy asses so we can finally be done with it all and move on/heal thoroughly!

I figured what better opportunity than to practice my banishment skills and complete my first ever cord cutting!!! (Pics below)

I wanted to add onto this because OP is correct! This is absolutely not a silly question! Practice can be as big or small (or as visible or not) as you want!

While yeah sure sometimes having a physical altar space with lots of candles and herbs and crystals on it is awesome, there’s also something to be said about the magic one carries inside them! Your intent is powerful enough! You have to trust that YOU are powerful enough.

You can incorporate magic into almost anything! For anon’s example of painting, color magic is HUGE! There’s so much you can explore and do with it too! (Like, what if you were to use color magic mixed with intent for manifestation?!)

Or for crocheting! Knot magic and adding intent to clothing is such a cool idea! With this in mind, i actually do incorporate magic and intent to things i create! Especially if it is a gift! (I was actually inspired to pursue magic like this because of a quote from Spirited Away after the main character Chihiro was given a hairtie, “It will protect you; it’s made from the threads your friends wove together.” So i truly believe that you can pour your magic into anything you create, especially it it’s made with your own hands.

hiiiyaa im sorry if this is a silly question but ive been learning a lot about witchcraft and id like to start practicing however i live in a very veryy strict muslim household (im not muslim anymore tho and no one knows) and i have no financial freedom to buy spell ingredients or my own personal space to cast spells (i share a room with my sibling) but i do paint and crochet, is there any way i could invent my own type of magic where i practice via painting and crocheting or is that silly? thank u for ur time !!!!

That is 100% not a silly question!

Creativity has a huge place in witchcraft as people kinda learn that you don't have to spend any money at all to practice witchcraft. Before I continue, I just want to issue a word of caution to any witch operating from within the shadows - be careful, don't be obvious, don't worry about not being able to do what you see other folks do online. keep yourself safe above anything else!

Off the top of my head, you can paint sigils and symbols and petitions galore.

and crochet things like plant holders, do knot magic, make poppets or offerings, make a witch's ladder.
