ANTIDOTES: 5 Types of Toxic Employees and How to Deal With Them 3. THE MARTYR Encouraging taking time off should be number 1. The martyr will stress them self out trying to get it all done and letting everyone know that is taking place. Enforcing delegation is needed in order for other teammates to show they are just as capable as the martyr. It encourages teamwork, helps put the martyr at ease and makes the work environment better for employees.

ANTIDOTES: 5 Types of Toxic Employees and How to Deal. With Them 2. THE SLACKER Uncovering hidden resentments is something that should be cleared as soon as possible. Resentment in the workplace is like a smoldering fire. It’s slow, it builds up, but when it combusts..whoa! It can contaminate and affect the entire team if not taken care of. Take the time to see what really moves your employees. Resentment is hard to detect, but easy to treat if you really care about your staff.

ANTIDOTES: 5 Types of Toxic Employees and How to Deal With Them We identified the 5 most toxic employees in the work environment. Now let’s see how to deal with them with these antidotes suggested by VoIP. Do you Agree? Let me know. 1. THE HOT MESS Offering training to the hot mess may be a good thing if they really value their job. Improvement plans that focus on being independent and being held accountable for their actions can put them in the right direction. Fostering awareness of the behavior may help the hot mess get a kickstart and on the right track. Support is a must for all employees.

5 Types of Toxic Employees | Toxic Employee 5: The Sociopath How can you knowingly hire this character? Narcissism is their game and bullying is the sociopath's other name. It starts off shuttle, quiet and then BOOM! The sociopath knows who to bully. Once you find this one....get rid of them fast!

5 Types of Toxic Employees | Toxic Employee 4: The Socialite Now come on, what’s so bad about The Socialite? Don’t you want someone fun to work with? Well if you like someone that fans the office drama, and lights a spark to latest and wrong office gossip, then you will love The Socialite. Even though you want to come to work like its fun like a party, you don’t want to party every day.

5 Types of Toxic Employees | Toxic Employee 3: The Martyr The Martyr could help you step your game up somewhat if you know what positives to take away from them. The negatives: condescending and forever the perfect one. You can handle this employee somewhat better than the prior two. On the other hand if you are undermining your team members.....Either straighten it up or you gotta go!

5 Types of Toxic Employees | Toxic Employee 2: The Slacker
I read the slacker and I have to disagree with some of it. All slackers don't have bad timekeeping and absenteeism. They get to work on time everyday and are hardly absent from work. However, low motivation and half done work is a trait. It’s just a job and not a career to them. No slackers in the apartment industry! You gotta go!

5 Types of Toxic Employees | Toxic Employee 1: The Hot Mess
Why do you have a hot mess working for you anyways? Unless they have a talent that no one else can do, The Hot Mess should not work in the apartment industry.

The Game Has Changed. So Should You?
The Game Has Changed So Should You?
I have seen lot over the years in the apartment industry. From snail mail to online tours and taking floor plans to social media, we have come a long way.
So what has changed in the game of the apartment world so much for you to even think about making a change?
People. Technology. Integrity.
People make any business. The right people or the wrong people can make or break the apartment industry.  Put the right people in place and that company in this industry will always have great employees, great morale bring in the money. Put the wrong people in place and you have a catastrophe of pointing fingers, playing the blame game and the business not progressing where it needs to be.
Technology changes the game entirely. The internet has made apartment hunting more accessible and online viewing, renting and signing the lease can be done with a few clicks. Social media has made it easier for residents to have their voices heard, management to take notice and increase their exposure.
Integrity: “The quality of being honest and having strong principles.” Yeah, that. Integrity is far and few between in today’s world. As much as I would like to think and feel this is in everyone, it is not. Integrity is a selfless thing. It cannot survive in a selfish world. Apartment industry included. If you have found a good company, good managers, good teammates with integrity……you have found a good thing.
But some things never change in this industry.
What hasn’t changed are the staples of the industry is good old customer service, creating the urgency to lease and closing the deal.
You need customer service to keep them from walking out the door. You need to create the urgency so they can lease. You need to close the deal to make the sale. Being kind goes a long way and will bring you more than leases and money, it will bring you a good reputation & true satisfaction to your career.
Creating the urgency is needed because competition is everywhere and let’s face it, we all suffer from a little ADD. If our attention isn't captured, we move on to the next apartment. Creating the urgency of clients picking our apartment community and picking it now all depends on how we close the deal.
Should you change because the game has? Adjustments are always needed no matter what career you choose. As long as you stay authentic and be true to you, the game should never change who you are.

I Am Marsha B: The Apartment Socialite: Welcome To My World
Welcome my world. What does my world consist of? Who is Marsha B? Why The Apartment Socialite? This quote best describes me but still not to the fullest:
“I am a paradox. I am faithful, but detached. I am committed, but free. I love everyone (well almost), but give love to only one. I am sociable, but a loner. I am fragile, but strong. I am predictable in my unpredictability”-Unknown
In other words, I know who I am, but you may never get to know the real me….I am a mystery…well sort of.
I am pretty simple and laid back but high strung and introverted. complicated huh? Nope not really.
I can read people pretty quickly. I don’t like negative talk or the behavior of those who tell other people’s personal business or just business you just don’t need to know in the workplace. I can’t even call it gossip. Why? Because you know first hand where it came from (because they told you!) and you go and tell someone else. Anyone else! Just stupid. So know I will stay away from you. This is a whole ‘nother topic which you know I will get into.
I don’t like the behavior of those who power trip. They use their position and power to demean, bring down others and brow beat on small things instead of addressing the issues that count. They also use it to satisfy their own dysfunctional and obvious insecurities. We all know one, two, three or four.
I love floor plans. I LOOOOOOVE them! Not the 3D ones, they irritate me. I love the flat floor plans with dimensions and square footage that are enveloped in the pretty pamphlets. Nowadays everything is on the web….EXCEPT when the industry has lease ups! You can get all sorts of beautiful pamphlets.
I love people who truly, genuinely listen. Listen to what you have to say. Listen to understand, listen to comprehend, listen to know you and truly want to see you succeed in this industry. Very few and far between, but when you find one (like me) don’t let them go….No matter where you end up.
Why The Apartment Socialite?
I have been in the industry for some time and have seen just about everything there is to see. Not only has the industry changed, but dang gone it, the type of people that are now trying to dominate and run it. I am not saying it’s a good thing or a bad thing….. But it is “SOMEthing” So buckle up, enjoy the ride, because this will be a ride like no other.

Welcome to The Apt. Socialite.
I couldn't decide how I wanted to do this. Website, podcast, radio, the possibilities are endless. With so much going on inside property management and apartment living, Instagram @theaptsocialite couldn't hold all I needed to say.  I need a bigger platform to blow the top off of what EVERYONE wants to know. Are you ready? This will be a read like no other.
