Why Steve Rogers and Sharon Carter are perfect for each other*
*With caveats: 1) a large portion of Sharon's personality and backstory I'll reference are my own creation, because the MCU keeps on forgetting she exists; 2) F&WS!Sharon is not the real Sharon but is a Skrull or comes from another dimension or something; and 3) the Steve who dances with Peggy at the end of Endgame is not the Steve I'm talking about. If any of this is confusing, please feel free to ask!
For starters, they're clearly attracted to each other, and it seems obvious they're interested in pursuing their relationship, which is more than I can say for some people that get shipped with Steve.
While attracted to each other, they don't let that get in the way of doing their job or fulfilling their responsibilities.
They have the same/similar sense of morals/justice (noticing something fishy about S.H.I.E.L.D. and standing up against it; breaking the law to save an innocent man's life).
The kind of person Steve needs in a partner (romantic or otherwise) is someone with compassion who will also challenge him when needed and not just crumble when the going gets tough. Sharon is usually gentle and kind, but she also doesn't take any crap and isn't afraid to speak up when it's necessary.
Steve has a tendency to not ask for help and try to do everything himself, because there have been so many times when there was no one to turn to, or he felt he had to prove he could do it when no one said he could. But Sharon doesn't wait to be asked for help. If she sees something that needs to be done, she takes the initiative and dives right in. That will be so important to their relationship, because Sharon won't let Steve do everything alone.
Steve's love language is Acts of Service, and Sharon has always struck me as the kind of person who would step up and help out as soon as she sees a need. Sharon's love language is Words of Affirmation, and Steve is surprisingly good at finding the right words to say to both inspire, and make someone feel good about themselves.
Sharon always interacts with Steve as Steve first, Captain America second. She doesn't fawn over him or expect him to be perfect, she doesn't pat herself on the back for managing to catch the eye of the world's first superhero. She just sees him for what he is: a man. That's got to be pretty rare for Steve, and would make her even more attractive to him.
What Sharon needs most in a partner is someone she can trust. Someone she can let her guard down around, who will be honest with her so they don't have to play guessing games. And Steve is as honest as they come. He's bad at lying, and he's always just himself around her, so any problems that arise are out in the open and they can work through them together.
Steve's first love was Peggy, and Sharon was really close to Peggy. Not only would she have heard lots of stories of what Steve is like, but she also would have been influenced by Peggy. Peggy is one of Sharon's most important role models, so the person that she wants to become (and is already well on her way to becoming) is exactly the sort of person Steve is looking for in the first place. No, they're not the same, and I don't think Steve would ever expect her to be. But the strength and kindness he admired in Peggy is also present in Sharon.
Steve and Sharon are both the kind of people who, once they make a commitment to someone, will not abandon them. This is perhaps the most important thing for a couple, because at the end of the day, no matter how compatible you are, no matter how "in love" you are or how much "chemistry" you have, what matters when the rubber meets the road is commitment. And Steve and Sharon are the kind of people who will put in the effort to make it work even when it's hard, even when other things change. Even when they both grow old and ugly and weak, they will be there for each other.

propaganda:
Anyone who hates this ship can meet me in the parking lot! They love each other so much! The MCU has done so much damage to so many of my comic book lovelies, imho these two were collateral damage from the consequences of making Peggy a bigger deal in Steve’s backstory and then the comics’ obsession with synergy and syncing with the MCU did the rest. But historically these two have been great together when they’re actually allowed to be together!

Who are your Bruce and Talia fancasts
bruce is easy. has always been, and will always be, oliver cohen - jackson. he's got the right look & vibe, he's an incredibly talented actor, and of course, he's jewish and i'm firm that bruce should be played by a jewish actor, even if dc likes to pretend he isn't.
talia is more difficult, as there aren't any actresses on the scene that i've been able to find after many years of searching that cover talia's racial qualifications. i'm a firm believer that because of that, talia should be a casting hunt to cast accurately. that being said, for visual purposes when ive written anything for them, or edited talia, i use shanina shaik, who as far as I can tell from my research, is relatively close to accurate, though I don't think she's completely accurate. she's not really a fancast persay, as she's a model, and not an actress, but as of yet, she's the closest ive found.

the day i no longer have to hear about the mcu's cap story attempt or mcu sharon in particular is the day my life immediately gets better. there's a reason I have distanced myself so thoroughly from both and it's because they make me viscerally angry
tws & the russos being praised the last few days has filed down the last of my patience lmao

it's wanda and pietro. in no world is casting two jewish - roma characters that way and then making them nqzis on scene EVER okay, and it has created a fandom full of severe racism.
however, sharon, thor, and bruce also got the short end of the stick and are some of the worst comic to live action adaptations ever.

Your fancasts are always on point. Do you have anyone you imagine as Natasha? Scarlett Johansson gives me bad vibes since she supports Woody Allen and Israel?
thank you! i do have a few ( neither that i can technically take credit for / one has been popular for ages, and the other a mutual of mine on tiktok came up with ) but im partial to milla jovovich and yuliya snigir.
as far as im aware, neither support paedophiles and creeps like woody allen, and while yuliya isn't active on social media so it's unclear for her, milla has shown support for palestine repeatedly now ( she does seem kind of in that vein of wanting peace for both isnotreal and palestine, so take that as you will ). she's been linking to charities for gaza and did stand up for shaun king when he faced backlash for supporting palestine as well apparently ( i don't really know anything about him or what he said, haven't even heard of him before looking it up rn so i can't vouch if that's a good thing or not, but she seems to have a good head on her shoulders nonetheless )

wrong, you are the annoying one lmao and not because of whether or not you like sharon. continuing to ignore the fact that almost every movie in the mcu is an adaptation of specific stories or that feige himself continues to call it the exact same universe as the comics, is silly. and you know it's silly, because you're avoiding the argument that an adaptation shouldn't change massive character plots to justify your point, by continuing to try and imply that it's not an adaptation but just " two different things ". it's not.
i don't think you understand that it has nothing to do with just a silly romance. it has everything to do with the fact that the mcu was so obsessed with peggy that it forfeited steve's entire character development to keep them together ; in one media, he is a guy who dislikes the past and has done everything he can to establish life in the present despite sometimes feeling out of place. he has friends, and family, and a life that he adores. and the mcu started setting that up for him, before randomly deciding that he hates the present and disregards all of the friends he's made there. it's not only bad story telling but it's a miserable attempt at an adaptation, and you know it, which is why you tried to boil down my complaint on your post to just " not liking sharon " even though that had nothing to do with it.
if you actually liked either of the carters like you claim to, you wouldn't like or defend an adaptation of their characters that spits on their lore, and makes them interchangeable nobodies with zero of their own personality, that steve gets to pick between for his happy ending, just because " it's different than the comics so it can do that "
it's an adaptation. it exists to tell the story that it's based on, not go " let's change everything in this because we don't like the story we're telling " lmao
that's all i have to say on that. if you're gonna try and make subtle indirects, maybe don't tag the characters you did the first time that got you the response post to begin with lmao not only could i see it just fine and know what i wrote, but everyone else in the tags can look at it too, and can pretty clearly see that you weren't " misunderstood ", you just...avoided every point made in counter to your own lmao
small edit to add : no, they're not considered different things, bc comics have been made to change huge shit to fit in with the mcu for YEARS now and it's literally rotting the stories and characters so i don't wanna hear the " it doesn't matter " argument
I think my last post was misunderstood. I have nothing against Sharon Carter.
It was to make it clear that MCU doesn't necessarily follow every single detail of the comics.
This doesn't mean that one sucks and the other is cool, just because they took different paths from the other. The MCU Steve loves Peggy, the comic Steve loves Sharon.

yall are so annoying lmao " im so tired of fans of the source material being upset that the adaptation of the stories they enjoy have repeatedly spit in the face of the aforementioned source material "
comic fans literally could not care less if you guys like the mcu, but you mcu fans just cannot fathom people disliking the mcu or choices it's made, to the point where you actively seek us out to tell us why us not liking the thing you do bothers you specifically
yall would never tell percy jackson fans, for an example, to get over it if the movies or shows had ended with percy getting together with someone else & annabeth being mistreated, having her entire character replaced with basically an oc, and then being made a villain in future media. because that would be stupid.
yall understand fans being upset at bad adaptations until it's the mcu. im tired of you.
I'm so tired of steggy haters, especially Peggy haters, complaining that Sharon isn't Steve's great love in the mcu, like she is in the comics. Comics are one thing, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is another fucking thing! They are two different things. I don't feel like Pepper is Tony's great love in the comics, but I don't feel like you're making a big deal.

i think it's a shame that the general consensus abt sharon fans disliking peggy is that we don't like her because she was with steve. that's really not the case.
peggy's relationship ( or non relationship depending on what comics you're reading ) with steve is important to sharon as a character and steve ( again, the latter depending on what books you're reading ) and their dynamic as well, and we have no reason to outwardly dislike it, because it's been the thing since the beginning. i won't deny that a lot of mcu shippers ( steve and bucky shippers especially ) do hate her and use " liking " sharon as an excuse to do so, but we as two fandoms need to team up against a common enemy on that front, not let them turn us against each other even more lmao
there's a lot of complex reasons that sharon fans dislike peggy ( separate reasons for mcu and comics ) and the biggest one comes from the actress's treatment of the characters and their relationship together, but none of them are peggy being with steve. hating the endgame ending ≠ hating peggy because of it. again, we're not steve & bucky fans. common enemy. pls.
i think every character has flaws, some more apparent, some in aus, and some that some people wouldn't view as flaws. not liking characters because of that isn't a problem unless you're using those reasons to be misogynistic / racist / etc, or just overall being a hypocrite. it's why sharon fans don't mind people not liking sharon, we don't like how some people talk about her when they don't like her.
i might be on my own here, but i don't think i am. there's a big difference between disliking a character for legitimate reasons, and constantly being hypocritical / gross / rude about said character just to antagonize people. like, sharon has plenty of character traits that i totally understand why people don't like her over ( in comics, mcu sharon doesnt really have a personality to like or dislike lmao ). just like peggy has a lot of traits i understand why people like her for ( in mcu & comics ) they're just not traits i like and that's okay.
one day ill compile a list of reasons why people ( especially sharon fans ) don't love peggy, and im sure it won't be the thing that just magically convinces people we don't just " hate her because she dated steve " but i would hope it explains actual reasons that show we aren't just. stupid hypocrites.
tldr :
it's come to my attention that a lot of peggy fans think sharon fans don't like her because she's with steve which, in my experience of interacting with sharon fans, isn't the case, and it makes me sad that that's the general idea. i think people should be allowed to like and dislike whatever characters they want, for legitimate reasons or not, so long as they aren't being rude or gross about it. and if you are a sharon fan who openly antagonizes other fans over the same shit we were antagonized over, then my message to you is to cut it out. it's about to be 2024, nobody needs that negativity over fictional characters 🫶

istg i can't go on a basic week and a half vacation without waking up every morning and seeing some bs about sharon / stevesharon / the fans
i can't imagine being so pissy over people defending their favorite character ( no, not with harassment. pointing out a bias that you openly admit to having isn't harassment ) that you blame them for a decade ( and still going ) full of misogyny, death threats, severe bullying, and more because us doing so " annoys " you.
nobody was telling peggy fans to kts over a stupid poll. some of us sharon fans hate peggy, but, unlike some of her fans, we don't extend that to real people. we actually have the courtesy to keep our dislike to the fictional character rather than real people. just like nobody was insulting pepper. all of the comments from sharon fans on that second poll were about how pepper got it bad, but not nearly as bad. which is the truth, whether you like it or not. it's not an insult to pepper to say she didn't have it as bad. and again, calling attention to a bias you admitted to having is not harassing or insulting you. if you had just put in even a sliver of effort on both sides of the silly polls, it wouldn't have even been brought up lmao
im tired of hearing from people that don't like sharon / just like peggy / whatever, that children ( because that's what a lot of us were at the time, literal children ) earned being told to kts, harassed daily, etc, and was deserved because " the fandom is annoying ". newsflash asshole, the fandom was like ten people while the worst of it was going on, barely surviving because adults couldn't grow up. it wasn't the fault of a group barely even known to exist that they were harassed for years, and still are.
and if you really think that it is, then that's your problem. not ours.
