FINALLY - SOMEONE GETS IT!
I think it's time for a refresher about what a "trickster" is and what makes a character or deity one.
A trickster is a boundary-crosser; an entity who highlights the rules and conventions of society by calling them into question, usually with their actions, and usually by breaking said rules and conventions. This helps us assess why these rules are in place and if they even serve us.
Because of this, tricksters tend to be transgressive and subversive. Sometimes this can be very delightful and other times can be very uncomfortable, even repulsive.
"Trickster" is a function, not a personality type. Sure, many tricksters are cocky and possess a devil-may-care attitude, but so do other beings who aren't tricksters, and there are many tricksters out there that don't have these personality traits.
Tricksters don't exclusively deal with absolutes. Everything they do changes depending on the situation they're dealing with and the goal they're trying to achieve. And unfortunately, this is what many people seem to misunderstand.
For example, I often see people say, "Tricksters are never trustworthy," or, "Tricksters always have ulterior motivations," when the truth is that tricksters are situationally trustworthy, and tricksters situationally have ulterior motivations.
Tricksters are capable of being selfish or selfless, helpful or harmful, constructive or destructive, kind or cruel, etc. all depending on what it is they're trying to achieve. We may not always know what they'll choose because they're operating at a higher level of meta than we are.
This is the nature you're dealing with when dealing with a trickster. They're not "secretly a villain" or actually an "unconventional and misunderstood hero." They're a trickster, and that moral gray is what you're going to get when dealing with them.

Writing Suggestion (#1)
Something I wish the writing mentors in my life told me was to never give up. I had one who had told me “you got it or you don’t” implying it’s all based on talent. Talent is important, yes, but I believe a huge part of writing is a passion to create, to tell a story. My suggestion is to be your own advocate. If you want to be a writer, go for it. Like Maya Angelou once said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”

Update on Blogging
So, maybe Tumblr isn’t the best place to blog, because I don’t seem to have what I want. But, hell, I am enjoying Tumblr. I used to have an account as a kid where I had all my writing prompts, food recipes, and so much more. So, you’ll see me around here. I may have to transfer my reviews and whatnot to Wix after all.
Any way, as stated, I’ll be around here. I’m just going to use this platform for bookish stuff that I find to be neat!

Stay Tuned: First Blog Post
Hey everyone! My first blog post is coming up this Friday. I hope you enjoy. Also, to note: I’m figuring out if I should have a schedule or not. My questions as a new blogger are: How often do I post? Book reviews? Articles?
At this time, I’m thinking a blog post could be once a week or every other other week. Book reviews once a month (i.e. due to length of book, note taking, compiling my thoughts, etc).
I‘ll figure it out! Thank you for your patience.

Have you read the Laurel K Hamilton faerie series?
I actually haven't. I've heard of them and seen them around, but have not. Definitely on my ever-growing TBR pile! Thank you so much for the suggestion.

A Dragon’s Greeting
Welcome to my trove, fellow BookDragons and Library Lovers 🐉 📚
My name is The Library Book-Dragon, or call me M for short. My pronouns are She/Her.
A Little About Me
I am a Jamaican Italian living in NYC. I created this Tumblr after a solid three years of wondering if I should have a blog or not. After a period of "buts' and "whys," I decided to go for that because sometimes the comfort zone can be very crippling. I want to connect with others with my interests, so here I am. Still figuring things out, but excited to see where this goes!
The main thing about me is my love for all things books, libraries, and bookstores. Where there are these things, I will belong.
I read all genres, but I prefer anything involving folkloric stories (includes myths, legends, tales, and the like), fantasy, romance, YA, Children's, and mysteries. I do read nonfiction, but I prefer watching documentaries in this genre. Dinosaurs are my biggest thing right now. (My next life: paleontologist)
I studied folklore - the culture (i.e. anthropology, world religions) and stories (i.e. fairytales, legends, myths) - for my BA with high hopes to continue it. My favorite stories are trickster tales.
My long-term goal: Becoming a librarian with a multicultural /folkloric focus in a public library setting + a published writer.
I BELIEVE IN an Inclusive World, and I feel libraries are excellent communities to help bring that about. Non-bookish things: I'm a huge foodie, and I love to travel. My goal is to travel globally, meet interesting people, explore cultures, and eat along the way!
That's all you need to know about me for now. If you want to follow with book recommendations and gushings among other things, feel free to follow me. If not, no worries. Thank you for stopping by!
