This is stupid .. really stupid.
Call me ignorant for not being a huge fan of change but I have to say one of the things that peeves me the most is when a company changes their logo, especially a well-known company that helps define some of the nerdom which I know, love and hold dearest to my heart.
Before I go that however, let's take a look at more successful logo changes over the past decades:
For the most part, companies see this as how their future will look after changing their logo.
1. Decide on a new logo
2. Hire awesome PR firm in order to hype new logo to the media
3. ??????
4. Profit
However in some cases, the situation goes slightly awry and you have a company like the Gap, which received such a huge fallout that someone made a Twitter account about how sucky their new logo was, to the point where they changed it back to the old logo that we all know and give zero fucks about.
But the company that is the target for this particular rant would be DC Comics, who recently announced that they have officially changed their logo to this:
The logo comes with many variations for the different superheroes the comic represents, the one above depicting Watchmen where several others represent Green Lantern, Superman, Batman and the like.
It's not even so much that the logo has changed, it is the reasoning behind it. The comic book giant believes that the new logo will better allow newer fans of the movies to be able to tell which of their favorite superheroes/villains are represented by which brand. So in other words, DC has said, "Hey all you hardcore fans, why don't you s some d?" With all due respect I appreciate DC's business enthusiasm as they look towards the future of their brand and the fans that will grow to appreciate it, however I am a firm believer that a company should never forget their roots. And besides, most comics have a way of making their readers super excited/disappointed/angry/sad about one thing and then changing it the next. Anyone remember the Civil War comics? Those were awesome and had a such potential to change the face - literally- of many of the comic book heroes we know and love, but instead the writers hyped it up and then pretty much took a big poo on its chest by pretending most of it never happened.
But I digress..
It seems that most comic fans are equally as unimpressed as I am, calling the change a "cruel joke." So with that, we shall see if DC keeps their new logo or they just make a new hero create a machine that makes it so horrible logos are never created. iseewhatyoudidthar...maybe not. Schwatever.
Cheers.

Want.. Of the Day
So I'm not into photography much, the furthest I delve into the world of professional photography would be taking pictures with Instagram on my iPhone, (which some consider professional photography these days, but that's a different story.) So it surprised me when I saw this camera and went into complete iwantthisnowgimme mode:
Above: Hermes Leica Camera
Obviously the Leica camera company is well known, however this is their limited edition camera with the French luxury company Hermès. Now having worked for this company myself in the past I know that their products are of the utmost quality, not to mention absolutely lovely to look at, however all of them cost a pretty penny. This little bugger will set you back about 14k. It comes in the signature color of the company, which is the orange you see above but also an etoupe color, which can be described as a light brown. And speaking of bugger, so far these are only available in the UK and have been available since December.
See you across the pond!

For All Your Nerdy Needs...
These make up part of Adidas's Campus 80 kick collection inspired by vintage Star Wars characters. The most amusing part, they are actually furry (made of horse hair) the only downside is they're not big enough for you to cut open and sleep in if you're stuck in the frosty tundra of Hoth.
They can be yours! Visit thinkgeek.com for more information.

I came across this article whilst browsing the App Zite on my iPad, ( which is a very nifty app btw) I thought it interesting seeing as the majority of the superhero blockbusters have been an all-male cast. The butt-kicking females however are either in the background or are ported as useless without their male counterpart. This article talks about how Sailor Moon was one of the first 'magical girl' animes, that showed a girl who didn't need a male sidekick (although one was thrown in for a romantic story counterpart)
Definitely a recommended read especially since the Sailor Moon mangas are being re-released in a few days!

Alpha Rita's Escaped....
I apologize for the lack of posting as of late, work has unfortunately taken over my blogging/personal life and I have been quite busy with that ...
... OR MAYBE I've been busy partaking in the best news ever -> The Power Rangers seasons being released on Netflix streaming. None of that DVD bullshiz. I could lie and say I haven't been snuggled in bed with my iPad on my lap watching episode after episode of the show that molded my childhood. I can remember now being but a tiny little lass and pretending I was the pink ranger whilst convincing my younger sister that the yellow ranger was so much cooler so that she wouldn't want to steal my beloved pink ranger spotlight.
I should also mention that Big Bad Beettleborgs and VR Troopers are also now streaming on Netflix. Life is good
          GO GO POWER RANGERS!!!

Not Necessarily Pretty in Pink
.. So here we have the pink Xbox 360 controller - the epitome of girl gaming as it may be, or so it may seem. I must say that none of my fellow girl gamers own one or would even have the slightest interest in owning one but it seems that like most industries, the world of gaming produces pink items in order to appear more desirable to the female population.
Unnecessary in my opinion, in fact I would feel sort of strange blasting the heads off of zombies and terrorists while donning a pink gun ( not that those don't exist as well.)
But it isn't only Microsoft that believes most girls would prefer pink.
                                 ... Yeah so THIS happened.
Hmm... most of the font is either pink or yellow, the Nintendo DS is pink, and the girl is wearing pink lipstick. Can this be anymore stereotypical?
And hey, I'm not saying that some girls don't like pink. I just wish the gaming industry wouldn't make their belief that pink controllers + systems + etc = more girl gamers.

OCARINA OF TIME IS BACK BIZNATCH!
... Right well as you can see I'm quite excited for one of the best parts of the Zelda saga to be back and on the 3DS so you can take this legendary title on the go! I will most definitely be heading down to my nearest Gamestop to reserve this bad boy and will hopefully get my hands on it as soon as possible this way I can do a review for you guys. It's Ocarina of Time so I doubt that Nintendo could eff this one up but we shall see.

Firsties! Assassin's Creed: Revelation Trailer
Unfortunately I haven't been able to soak up all the E3 goodness that I would have liked over the past few days. Unfortunately, as nerdy as I am I haven't reached the level of "cool nerdiness' required to be invited to one of these things. Anywayyy .. I managed to feast my eyes on the newest trailer for the newest addition to one of my personal favorite video games sagas. Assassin's Creed. This one is titled Revelations and judging by the five or so minute trailer it seems to have all the makings of an epic fourth piece of the puzzle. The trailer shows what I can only think of as an older Ezio as he gets captured by Templars. The allusion to Altair is incredible and it makes me eager to get my hands on the November release.
This is almost as good of an announcement as Sony encrypting their user's passwords!
Oh they haven't done that yet?
They should get on that
