Lol that is funny. Sorry if it came off as really defensive, I've just been taking about Stephen King a lot recently for a class.
(also I just picked up IT again and I'm gonna finish it this time. Figured you might appreciate that)
I saw a post that was like "the fact people are harassing jk rowling over just some mean tweets while stephen king can write disgusting things 24/7 and recieve nothing but praise just shows that this really all just about sexism" and it pissed me off so bad.
Listen, stephen king is not perfect and you're allowed to not like him, dare i say, you're allowed to even hate him. I personally like him but I will not lie to you and tell you he's never written a racist trope or been creepy about women before. However, jk rowling isn't just "making mean tweets" SHE'S ENGAGING IN HOLOCAUST DENIALISM. SHE ACCUSED A WOMAN OF COLOR OF BEING TRANS WHEN SHES A PUBLIC FIGURE FROM A COUNTRY WHERE BEING TRANS IS ILLEGAL. HER BOOKS ARE ALSO FILLED WITH PROBLEMATIC TROPES.
Stephen King, as far as i'm aware, has never actually done any of the problematic things he's written about. He's definitely said shitty things before, but i've never heard any serious allegations levied at him of anything he writes about, neither murder, cheating, pedophilia, or racism. As far as i'm concerned stephen king is actually a leftist, like about as left leaning as an older white dude could be. He outright advocates for trans rights and is anti book banning, as opposed to rowling who literally denies that trans healthcare books were burned by nazis.
Here's a thought: Maybe the reason people hate jk rowling and not stephen king isn't sexism, maybe it's because they both hold problematic views and write problematic content, but one of them is using their platform to actively lobby against minorities.
It also probably helps that one is a good writer and the other isn't.

I think it's important to note that Stephen King writes horror his whole intent is to make you uncomfortable, and disgusting you. Horror isn't just scary it's down right repulsive sometimes.
Like honestly it's a case of "dead dove: do not eat" when it comes to his writing. I personally can get past his hypersexualized descriptions of women that's in every single book, but I know it bothers a lot of people.

So when I logged back into this blog during my CSI rewatch I had planned to just quietly consume content, but then I spent all weekend making an incredibly indulgent 5-hour Grissom and Sara playlist and figured I would share it here in case it reaches someone else who would enjoy it.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/03H4xkrxbRnJEWowCYSDbg?si=0b18ccdcb9534a92
It can be subdivided into mini playlists as follows:
Seasons 1-5: Tracks 1 - 21
Seasons 6-8.3: 22 - 37
Season 8.3-9: Tracks 38- 50
Seasons 10+: Tracks 51 - 65
Finale: Tracks 66 - 75
I'm only on season 5 in my current rewatch, and don't think I've seen seasons 10 onward any time after they aired. (I'm also not sure I even kept watching after mid-season 13.) So hopefully the later sections work based on my only vague memories of Season 10 onward.

So I've never written rpf before but i watched the adore you music video and this happened. So I don't know if this any good but thoughts
Eroda was a dark place full of dark clouds and the never-ending expanse of grey that seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see. There was nothing bright or exuberant about Eroda except for the occasional flicker of a gold earring on someone’s ear. There was a boy though. A boy who at one point had a smile that had quite literally lit up a room. Where ever he went the light seemed to follow until one day someone noticed the fire department hadn’t needed to put out any fires. The sunscreen was stocked specifically because of the boy hadn’t been selling out.
It was odd but no one thought that much of it. After all people tended to avoid the boy because he was different, peculiar if you will. Maybe if they had paid a little bit more attention they would of noticed.
***
There was something so inherently wrong with this place. Something wrong so deep in the heart of the island. Harry didn’t know what was wrong though. In fact there might have been nothing wrong and it was just him trying to look for an explanation as to why everyone hated him so much. There probably wasn’t one though and that was the worst part. They hated him simply for existing, and he couldn’t really blame them.
Still the idea that there was something wrong with this place couldn’t be entirely in his head. Right?
Harry sighed and slowly settled his helmet on his head, the heavy weight resting on his shoulders. It was comforting in a way. Like it was protecting him from all of their stares. If he thought about it like he was protecting himself from them it was easier. Way easier than if he thought about them as the ones needing protection. He grabbed his bag from the bench and started his lonely trek back to his the place he called home.
The rain had started falling by the time he made the short walk back to the edge of the village. The water started dripping down the front of his helmet making it hard to see. He wiped it away with his hand. He wished he didn’t have to wear this helmet but it was necessary. The rain started to come down faster and in the distance he could hear the sound of thunder. He was so tired of this. So tired.
It was getting so hard to see. Before he knew it Harry had bumped into somebody and was tumbling down toward the ground.
“Oh, I’m so sorry are you okay.” A voice said startling Harry. This wasn’t the first time he had fallen in the rain unable to see, but this was the first time someone had asked if he was okay. People tended to just move around him and pretend that he didn’t exist.
“I’m fine,” Harry said dragging himself to his feet wobbling slightly the person grabbed onto his arm to keep him upright. “Thanks.”
“No, problem.”
Harry wiped the front of his helmet and was greet by the face of an unfamiliar man, who had eyes like what imagined a clear sky looked like. The shade of blue was simply the most perfect color he had ever seen.
“You have really pretty eyes,” Harry said softly. It had been so long since someone had been nice to him.
“Thanks,” he laughed out. “I’m Louis.”
“I’m Harry.”
They stood there for a moment. It had been so long since someone had talked to Harry. He didn’t know how to hold a conversation.
“Well Harry I’ll let you be on your way,” Louis said after a moment walking away into the rain leaving Harry there alone once more.

Creating Goncharov by albie [IFDB]
Creating Goncharov is a surreal game where you play as a filmmaker creating a pitch for a Goncharov (1973) remake with the help of Al, an indecisive peer. Premise Everyone knows Goncharov. Martin Scorsese's 1973 film is a cult classic, a true masterpiece of cinema. To celebrate its upcoming 50th anniversary, you, an office drone working at a major media corporation, have to create a pitch for a 2023 remake. It's an amazing opportunity that could launch your career. There's just one problem. You haven't seen Goncharov. Unable to turn down your corporate overlords, you and an indecisive colleague throw together a story based solely on information you can quickly find or invent. How will you reimagine the greatest mafia movie ever made and what will you do to turn your ideas into reality?

Very much not my normal posting but since antisemitism is very actively rising, I feel like it's worth it:
Pinely is a Youtuber who's been doing a series on conspiracy theories and antisemitism. He's Jewish himself and his videos do a good job at exploring how people fall down antisemitic rabbit holes and how conspiracy theories relate to antisemitism (he's one of the only people ive seen who, when talking about shane dawson, specifically called out how antisemitism tied in to his shilling of conspiracy theories to kids). He's also just very funny (in my opinion) and a Jewish, non-white, non-American commentary channel, which is rare and refreshing. If you want to learn more about antisemitism, his videos might be something to check out. I rarely ever see people call out antisemitism specifically in commentary videos even when they call out racism, misogyny, etc., which makes watching someone tackle antisemitism so head on very nice.

All the morons trying to claim that Dean wasn't saying anything to Cas because he was holding back slurs or something equally ridiculous... what show have you been watching? Surely not Supernatural. Like, yeah, Dean had some internalized shit for a while (mostly cause of how he was raised, let's be real), but this isn't season fucking one. Dean's in his goddamn forties now guys.
But you still think Dean Winchester is homophobic? Let's examine the evidence then, shall we?
1. Aaron Bass: Dean was flustered because he's not used to being hit on by dudes, but he was completely respectful. And he was alone, too. It wasn't like he was trying to "hide his homophobia" from Sam. He could've said whatever he wanted in that moment without anyone ever knowing, and he chose to awkwardly walk backward and wish Aaron a nice day. Then later, when they're working with him, Dean says nothing about it (other than a quick "he was my gay thing" to Sam), doesn't make it weird, and talks to him exactly the same way he would talk to anyone else.
2. Jesse and Ceasar: Dean's surprised when he realizes that they're married, again because he's not really used to it and so he made the wrong assumptions (which I will point out is really really normal, it happens all the time even between queer people, because heteronormativity is very much a thing in real life). But what does he do when he finds out? He asks them about their marriage - with genuine curiosity. What's it like to be in a relationship with a hunter, is it hard, all that jazz. Never asks about the fact that they're both men, none of those gross "so who's the woman" questions, literally just. Talking to two married hunters. That's it. Then later, when they're working, he never once questions their capability as hunters or suggests that they're weak in any way. There's no "you're less 'manly' because you're gay" mindset at all. And at the end of the episode he's genuinely happy for them, two hunters who managed to get out of the life and retire together.
There's lots of other examples (several male cops have been obviously into him over the years, his reaction to Jody talking about Claire and Kaia, all the subtext surrounding Lee, etc.) but for my last one for now, let's not forget...
3. Charlie fucking Bradbury: Arguably Dean's best friend besides Cas (no I haven't forgotten about Benny, I love Benny, but he was part of a very specific chapter of Dean's life and that chapter is done). We've known she was a lesbian from the get-go, and Dean takes it in stride when he finds out, immediately improvising to coach her through some painfully awkward flirting so she can get into the office ("you've just come home, and Scarlett Johansson is waiting for you"). And yes, there's the whole "I feel dirty" "yeah so do I" bit there, but that's clearly established as a joke, plus the guy was gross - as someone who is attracted to both women and men, I would feel dirty after flirting with him too.
The next few times we see Charlie, she and Dean are geeks and dweebs together, Dean is having more fun than we've seen in years, and we see him be a really good friend - in some ways, a better friend than he is to Cas. Charlie talks to him a little bit about girls, they LARP, they go shopping together, Dean comforts her when she has to let go of her mom. When she's killed, he gets so upset he goes on a murderous rampage (maybe not the most healthy way to deal with greif, but nonetheless showing how much she mattered to him). When he sees an alternate version of her in trouble he's immediately ready to risk his own life to help her even though she doesn't know him. He loved her like a sister, and he never once expressed any issues with her sexuality.
So let's go back to Cas. Cas is in love with Dean. Not much of a surprise there, he's said it before. But this is the first time Dean understands that that's what he's saying. It makes sense that he's a little stunned, especially considering that Cas is also saying that he's about to die. I mean, if your best friend of twelve years told you one day that they've been in love with you all along, that just knowing you has irrevocably changed them for the better, and that also by the way telling you this means they're going to die, mightn't you be rendered a tad speechless?
Dean does not hate Cas for this. Not at all. Because whether or not Dean is bi, whether or not he reciprocates, Cas is still his best friend. We've seen how hard Dean grieves every time Cas dies. We know how much Cas matters to him. Of all the shit they've put each other through, there's absolutely no logical reason for this to be the thing that damages their friendship beyond repair. Not after everything. No fucking way.
Dean says nothing because he doesn't know what to say, because he's still processing Cas's confession but also already grieving and blaming himself for Cas's death. The way he breaks down at the very end of the episode? That's not a man who's disgusted. That's a man who's shattered.
How dare you try to simplify this incredibly complex and emotional moment into Dean being a dick. How dare you. It's positively insulting. The entire point of Cas's speech was that Dean is so much more than that. If you can't see that, than I'm sorry, but you're missing the whole message of the show.
Supernatural is about family and sacrifice. It's about free will, making your own choices. And it's about being more than just who you're supposed to be, going beyond what other people want or assume. All the depth beneath the surface. That's the show. That's why we're still watching after all this time. Because it means something important. Something relevant. Something real.
Don't you fucking discredit that.
(thank you for coming to my TED talk)
