Added a few tweaks to the basic design (font size, trying out a background texture), so the OG Silverstone poster will probably get a bit of a do-over when I finalize the series. That being said, I had a blast working on the Melbourne poster! Took me a while to finalize the flower choice, but I really like the color combo and the research was fun as well. Stay tuned for the next installment!

I've been wanting to put up some F1 related posters in my bedroom, but I don't really vibe with commonplace designs (see above) So I came up with my own idea! Took me some time to draw (high definition prints are time consuming af), but so far I love the results. My goal is to draw all the circuits as flower crowns made of the local flowers and do a big 2026 calendar map. Maybe I'll put them on my redbubble as prints later, after I print test the final files

As a commercial illustrator who is sometimes FORCED to use ai in my line of work (yes, some clients demand this stuff), I just hate what ai does to my creativity drive, but also... it's so hard to get what you want! When you need something very specific you can go for hours: tweaking the promt, trying to Frankenstein two images together, repainting on top etc

Sometimes it takes just as long to make something of quality using ai, as it would take to just draw the damn thing. What's worse, clients feel that they can demand a lot of last minute changes because with ai "it's fast, easy, barely any work". You are no longer viewed as a creator, just a middleman between a client demand and Godlike Art Robot.

And producing images is probably the task that LLM ai models are most successful in! And it's still a faulty tool, on top of being a misinformation machine! And even though there are a lot of paid subscriptions to various ai tools these companies are not really making a profit over their giant investments. The only way these startups won't go bankrupt in the next five years is if they'll manage to make ai absolutely INDISPENSABLE in every aspect of human existence. And when it settles in, the prices will go up, and enshittification will be there too — just as it was with Uber, AirBnb and all social media platforms.

We don't comprehend the real price of training and operating ai right now. For me it feels like I'm living in 1910s and everyone I know tell me to try this new exiting thing called radium. It makes your watch glow in the dark! You can use it in a health tonic or even toothpaste! Why the long face, you don't want to hop on this fresh new trend? Are you against progress or something?

being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?

Doing some research for the drawing of Melbourne track (yes, I'm doing posters depicting F1 tracks as flower crowns made of local flora, scroll down to see my take at Silverstone). This is what I've picked so far: Royal Bluebell (Wahlenbergia gloriosa) Golden Wattle (Acacia pycnantha) pink form of the Common Heath (Epacris impressa) Not sure if I'll use all three types of flowers, for now it's just an idea. If any actual aussies wants to pitch their case for inclusion/exclusion of specific flowers, I'd like to hear from you!

At best sincere belief in horoscope is a silly thing that negatively affects your relationship with people by putting bias onto how you perceive them based on their astrology sign, a thing they have no control over. At worst it's eugenics draped in a wizard robes.

the position of planets and balls of gas did not in any way impact your personality or destiny. it has nothing to do with what kind of people you are compatible with, despite what an app or magazine told you.

i think sincere belief in horoscopes shows a concerning propensity to trust pseudoscience and a susceptibility to confirmation bias.

i'm pretty tired of having to tiptoe around this kind of thing and include disclaimers. if you genuinely think you shouldn't be friends with someone because of the date they came out of a uterus, you're being a clown.

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.
