Hilarie here! I’ve been enjoying a few (new to me) products that I’m putting into the glow boosting category. ☀️ ☀️ @goodmolecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner ($14, 4.5oz) This was part of my lucky bag. We’re big fans of this brand and this was high on my list to try. Texture is a bit thick, which I love....almost essence like. It absorbs quickly and preps my skin for the next step. I thought this would feel active, but it is quite soothing. Sidenote: love the packaging. There is no chance of spilling any of the product thanks to the little, built-in stopper. @tataharperskincare Resurfacing Serum ($88, 1oz) I bought this on sale @spacenkusa a few months ago. After finishing my last #vitamincserum I wanted to add this into my morning lineup. I find this product very gentle....so much so that I thought it was doing nothing. However, I was wrong. This serum is comprised of multiple (7) AHAs and BHAs to help boost glow. I find this to live up to the claims and started to see the effects about a week or so in. This, following the GM toner, are a very positive addition to my #amskincare @farmacybeauty Honeymoon Glow ($58 ,1oz) This was in the queue to be tested for a bit. As many of you know, my oily skin LOVES acids! It may be my favorite product category. I knew people liked this one, but I wasn’t sure it would be potent enough for me. Well, by the second or third use, I realized that my “morning after skin” was noticeably smoother. So much so that I couldn’t stop touching it. Post-application, there is a little tingle, but that abates quickly. This + the oil below are having a very positive impact on my skin. @farmacybeauty Holy Grail ($48 ,1oz) Like acids, I LOVE oils! Common misconception that people with oily skin shouldn’t use oils.....the exact opposite is true. This little gem sinks in quickly and can be worn as the last step or, you can follow with moisturizer for a cushion effect. The soft skin noted above was due to the combo of these two products. I just started using this in my #amskincareroutine and again, really enjoying the effects. ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️ What are some of your favorite glow boosters?! #skincare #healthyskin #brightening (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9B9WJaHZQY/?igshid=eawkzi5beyu2

@bareminerals very graciously sent us the collection of their new, Mineralist Hydra Smoothing Lipstick ($20 each, available at multiple retailers). • • Per the brand, these creamy moisturizing lippies are made with minimal ingredients (just 19, which is 40% less than average), but offer max results. They are formulated with 76% naturally derived extracts, including sustainably sourced botanicals from around the world. • • As promised, we both felt there was excellent coverage in a single swipe and quite moisturizing. And although some of these colors appear quite bright, they were slightly muted when applied....in a good way. This is a very wearable collection! • • Each shade is inspired by the healing powers of natural minerals, crystals and gemstones (e.g. Balance, Focus, Integrity and Grace) and has a natural scent of Prickly Pear and Açaí (we found this very subtle). • • The colors family are absolutely lovely and include Blooming Pinks, Earthy Nudes, Fresh-Picked Reds, Juicy Berries and Sunset Corals. • • These lippies are cruelty, paraben, gluten, synthetic fragrance, PEG and talc FREE. They are also vegan. • • This collection was a lovely surprise and one that we are really enjoying. If you are seeking a wearable color that is moisturizing and comprised of more natural extracts, we highly recommend these. Excellent price point and wearability too! • • #theskinstudy #bareminerals #mineralisthydrasmoothinglipstick #lipstick #crueltyfreebeauty #veganbeauty #parabenfree #glutenfree #talcfree #cleanbeauty #mineralist #gifted (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B83xRGEn0_7/?igshid=w6vrvvfm6mc7

Hilarie here! Although we have very different skin types, there are a few products that work beautifully for BOTH of us. Tarte Knockout (5oz, $39) is one of them. When Tarte released this acid, we were sent a bottle.....this is my third or fourth re-purchase?!?! Yep, it’s that good! If you love #p50 or #goodgenes give this a try. Super effective and at a great price point. Although we often test new acids, this is one that we both still ❤️ and come back to. • • • #theskinstudy #tartecosmetics #tarteskin #acid #skincare #tarteknockout #phillyblogger #beautybloggers #empties (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8loBHgHm1h/?igshid=1wbzztwmgc9vn

A perennial favorite for both of us. Fleurs d’Afrique by @africanbotanics is a gorgeous oil that works on both of our skin types. I (Hilarie) just brought this back into rotation as the final step in my #pmskincareroutine It’s a little luxury before bed 💫 This line is gorgeous all around and it’s hard to choose a favorite product. However, this oil is always near the top! Who else loves this oil or, is curious about it? • • #theskinstudy #afticanbotanics #fleurdafrique #faceoil #skincare #phillyblogger #beautybloggers (at Philadelphia/U.S.A) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8Y3ij1H0sX/?igshid=1qop81oh9013d

Hilarie here! I mentioned a few things that I was super-excited about in 2020. One was the new line by OG blogger, @sarahlovesmakeup I’ve been following Sarah for several years and love her glowy, approachable and gorgeous looks. When she announced that she was creating her own, natural makeup line (literally making, packaging and distributing it herself), I was beyond excited! Her line can be purchased via @etsy I selected the Everything Bundle which included two lip products, an eye shadow, highlight and a blush (I’ll post order info in stories). I’ve been playing with these products for a week now and I’ve worn them solo and incorporated them with other products in my collection. Here are my initial thoughts... • • 💫I’ve come to realize (in the past two years or so) that I love cream products. I have oily skin and I just find that they compliment me well. These, multi-functional products, are a must for cream lovers, as well as, those who like to dabble with them. 💫All of these products are multi-functional. Whether applied to lips, cheeks or eyes, you can create several looks. They are incredibly wearable and can be applied with your fingers or a brush. 💫The lipslicks are absolutely lovely. They offer a gorgeous, natural flush and can be applied on the go (no mirror required). I found them very hydrating and they wore well. Lips have a totally juicy look when topped with the lip glosses (Catherine + Peach Pie is my fav and worked so well with my fair complexion). 💫For eyes, Franny worked beautifully on my lid. I would dip into other products for my crease, but this creamy shadow gave me a nice glow and made my eyes look larger (without the glare of a highlighter). The texture is firmer than the other two pots, which works well for this product. 💫Speaking of highlighter (Hot Climates), this creamy goodness looks so natural, yet pops. It reminds me of the subtle beauty that’s in the @ctilburymakeup bronze and glow. Great on all highlight points of face. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8UG5SCnpw6/?igshid=lydx0diib1at

Hilarie here! There were a few makeup releases that I was super-excited about in 2020 (the other I will cover this weekend!). I like @maccosmetics a lot, but......most recent releases (recent meaning past few years) have NOT been exciting. Then, I saw the promos for their Loud and Clear collection. Included are lippies (both lipstick and glosses), eye shadows, blushes and two highlighters. The eye shadows and the Glow Play Blushes grabbed my attention immediately! I went to our local MAC yesterday and received a demo and a bit more information 👇🏻 • • • 🌸 the blushes have a creamy and bouncy texture. They can be worn sheer or built up. Best to apply with a flat brush (push it into the skin) or, with finger, then use a sponge to blend. These are the standout pieces in the collection (IMO). Colors remind me of spring! I bought No Shame (pink) and So Natural. These blushes are permanent (per our store) and retail for $30 🌺 eye shadows ($18) are very earth-toned and lovely. Best applied with a primer. I bought Back to Surreality and Omega. The later has been the most popular color in Asia. To me, it has a green shift. BTS appeared warmer in pan, but very neutral on my complexion. I do not have dupes first this and can wear them with several other shadows that I own. These, per our store, are LE. Tempted to buy a few more pieces (a lipstick and more blushes!). Thus collection is online, in-store and @nordstrom Not sure where else (yet). Did anyone else grab anything?! • • • #theskinstudy #maccosmetics #macglowplay #macglowplayblush #macloudandclear #spring2020 #phillyblogger #beautybloggers (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8RP3rDnsnk/?igshid=1600ask19kcbb

Hilarie here....from her sick bed 😷 I managed to catch some bug and just....taking it slow and easy today. As previous sick posts show, I still take care of my skin....in some ways, it helps me feel better. Here’s what I did this morning 💊 • • • 💊 I started with an old favorite: the Honey Potion mask by #farmacybeauty (remove in shower). This was a sample. I’ve gone through a full-size jar and several samples. 💊 very gentle cleanse with the beautiful and aromatic Cleansing Dew by #demamiel (totally forgot I had another bottle!) 💊 #debaucheryscrub by #primbotanicals My favorite body exfoliant and it’s perfect on a day like today. 💊out of the shower, slather on #kiehls 💊tone with #origins then put on #ceramide mask by #sallysbox (I have a zillion sheet masks that I am determined to work my way through). 💊#glossier for eye cream, then #tataharper for serum. 💊#bareminerals to seal it all in and of course #spf One of my all time favs by #drunkelephantskincare And even when I’m inside 99% of the day, I still protect my skin. • • • Now, onto more rest! 💊💊💊 #theskinstudy #skincareroutine #healthyskin #drunkinlove🐘 #originstribe #phillyblogger #beautybloggers #365skincare (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B78uV3WH-99/?igshid=1045hh6d1c9qz

Hilarie here! My #beautylish #luckybag2020 arrived about an hour ago! Last year, I was able to get an XL bag, but this year, we both snagged the regular ones. 🍀 🍀 🍀 I admit that I love the surprise of these and even if some things are dupes or, products I cannot use, I find value in what I can use. 🍀 🍀 🍀 We’re going to see what Anna Marie receives in her bag, then look at swapping some items. I love my #soniagbrushes but I already have this brush! I also adore the quad by #charlottetilbury but...I already have it! 🙈 I am SUPER excited to try the #niacinamide toner by #goodmolecules and the mask by #farmacybeauty I’m always curious about new (to me) products and will see how the #coverfxdrops work for me. I may gift the #sugarpillcosmetics and brush wrap to my sister. We’ll see!! 🍀 🍀 🍀 I know not everyone loves their entire selection each year, but it’s fun to discover new products and discover some new loves! 🍀 🍀 🍀 #theskinstudy #fukubukuro #makeuphaul #phillyblogger #beautybloggers (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7l557xnHAt/?igshid=1722p1g1nuv5l

Hilarie here! I confess, I have a LOT of make-up! I collect it and I use it....daily. Playing with make-up and applying it calms me. As with skincare, I love a good routine. Looking back at 2019, I put a LOT of stuff on my face! But, there were some products that were used almost like a reflex. In most cases, these products were effortless and played well with others. In 2019, two new brands emerged that I fell really hard for: @roenbeauty and @victoriabeckhambeauty Amazing products and what I use almost daily. I realized that in 2019 two brands (that I already used a bit) began to work even better for me and thus, I started using daily: @chanel.beauty and @ctilburymakeup One of my 2020 goals is to highlight more #motd in our stories. Make-up is fun and should be a source of enjoyment. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy this and maybe find some new make-up loves! To kick it off, I’ll be posting a bit more detail in stories about my favorites pictured here. I’ll also share some combos that work well for me. #theskinstudy #chanelbeauty #welovecoco #roenbeauty #charlottetilbury #tomfordbeauty #colourpop #lauramercier #patmcgrathlabs #hourglasscosmetics #narsissist #victoriabeckhambeauty #diorbeauty #glossier #abh #makeup #makeuplover #beautybloggers #phillyblogger (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7byf8OnBJ3/?igshid=13lljrt2eaeix

Hilarie here! I am a firm believer in the benefit of retinol for my (oily, non-sensitive) skin. I am always interested in exploring the various products available in our market and have tested quite a few that I really enjoy. This is one category where I do the most testing on behalf of The Skin Study...Anna Marie’s skin is not is tolerant as mine to retinol. However, based on that, she has been able to explore alternatives that work best for her (we have a few reviews that may be helpful if you have similar skin!). In my quest to discover new products that will deliver results, I purchased A313 Retinol. In the US, it can be found on Amazon and at a wonderful price point (50g, $31.99). This is an alternative to the much loved and discontinued Avibon (France). Avibon gained fame once it was featured on @goop but was discontinued due to stability issues (2013). A313, also medical grade and sold OTC in France, was then produced as a replacement to the cult favorite. I’ve was always curious about this product and finally pulled the trigger on the purchase. I tested A313 over two+ months. This retinol has a reputation as being fairly intense, but given my skin’s tolerance, I wasn’t too worried.....well, I peeled for the FIRST time ever. In terms of strength, this is .12% vitamin A, but it’s not the same as Retin-A (.1%), which is pure retinoic acid. I found a great review on The Skincare Edit (I will share link in stories) that basically summed up my thoughts and delves much more into composition: Although A313 is technically weaker than others (such as Retin-A), it is stronger than anything else I’ve ever used. I started this on an every other night basis (cont in comments!). 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B63aINPnJt9/?igshid=1xss5cvf0mm83

Hilarie here! When the original Decadence palette released, I missed out. I was beyond excited to hear it was being re-released with packaging that is sort of.....amazing. I am not a Star Wars buff, but I appreciate the gorgeous detail of this collection. I was lucky to get all three palettes and they are joining my ever growing @patmcgrathreal collection! I’ll post swatches shortly. Anna Marie also has one shipping....hopefully hers arrives today too!! ✨ ✨ ✨ #theskinstudy #patmcgrath #pmglablove #patmcgrathmothership #patmcgrathdecadence #starwars #mothershipiv #makeup (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6tKf2NHEVr/?igshid=hfnttw7hnuwc

Hilarie here! A little more than a year ago, we attended the first #sephoria and received a rather large gift bag. In it, was the Scalp Revival Charcoal and Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo by @briogeo (8 oz, $42). As someone with an oily scalp, I was excited to try this. I am a big fan of the scrub by @christopherobinparis and wanted to see how this would compare. I’ve been using this once a week for a month. Let’s talk consistency and application first. It is much thinner than the other scrub mentioned above, but it is not runny. It is very easy to dip my fingers in and scoop up some shampoo. I apply to wet hair and massage in. Then, I let it sit in my hair for about a minute (this is not part of the directions; I just like to do it!). I’m always a bit unsure if I’m applying enough because it does not lather or thicken once applied. I often add a bit more....I probably don’t need to, but I “feel” like it works best for my hair. It rinses clean, then I add conditioner. Now, the results and my thoughts.... On the day I use and the day after, my hair looks and feels great! My hair (I always air dry) has more body and feels silky. Big fan of this product! I don’t use many styling products, but I like this as an alternative to my regular shampoo and conditioner weekly. I think this can work well for multiple hair/scalp types. I would absolutely buy another. This product is #vegan #glutenfree and #crueltyfree PS: there are two sets currently on the @sephora sale tab. The set with the deep conditioner, contains a deluxe sample of this. I grabbed both sets 🤗🤗🤗🤗 #theskinstudy #briogeo #charcoalshampoo #scalptreatment #phillybloggers #beautybloggers #haircare (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6YL8XtHv2L/?igshid=12vsx7l7wmp7s

Hilarie here! I’ve been in testing mode with my #pmskincareroutine I have TWO, simple routines: one with #retinol and one without. Let’s start without: • • • 🌗 #dhccleansingoil stocked up during the last #21daysofbeauty at #ultabeauty 🌗#drdennisgross my favorite cleanser. Third big bottle (+ lots of sample sizes!). 🌗 #tarteskin #tarteknockout one of the best acids....period. 🌗#katesommerville #retinoleyecream I’m not someone who notices a big change with eye cream, but I’m really enjoying this one! 🌗 #drunkelephant #fbalm Anna Marie will be testing this soon, but I’m loving this on my off-retinol nights! I feel like my face has a protective (and hydrating!) shield around it! We’ll review this soon. • • • Now, every other night, I’m using the #a313 retinol. I’ll review this shortly, but I am loving it. The reasons why it’s every other night may surprise you....and I will reveal in the review. But on my retinol night, I double cleanse as usual, skip the acid, add eye cream and apply the retinol as my final step. Easy!! • • • #theskinstudy #skincareroutine #phillyblogger #beautybloggers #drunkinlove🐘 (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5-VW0PHYoA/?igshid=tgybb7htt19h
