The modern death of well-rounded fictional characters
I often ponder the seeming decline in recent years of real human characters in media. Not literally humans, of course, but well-rounded characters with heart and complexity that I can really sink my teeth into. Edwared Elric, Prince Zuko, Ash Lynx, Buffy Summers, the like. Characters that experience hardship and trauma, that make meaningful connections over time through layers of fear and mistrust, characters that have you booing every time they're present to start and sobbing by the time they leave. To breathe life into fiction, it has to be made with unending heart and pure intent. Not for money or fame, but for a need to share a story. We hope our podcast can give you that character who consumes your every waking moment. The one you worry for throughout your day, and root for with every fiber of your being. We hope our story can make you laugh, cry, stress, rage, celebrate, and most importantly, invest. We've invested in these characters, and it is our genuine hope that others will too. With love and excitement as we prepare to set sail, The Rivers of Confluence Team

I’ve come to the conclusion that the Ravening war is actually not a DnD campaign, but instead six straight episodes of psychological warfare waged against Lou Wilson.

- He got engaged. He didn’t call me. Okay. That’s his way of telling me… We’re not friends. Not really.
- You can’t be friends with him. Not when you’re… He doesn’t need to congratulate me. Look at me. Who am I compared to him?
- He is who he is. He doesn’t need a friend. He doesn’t need… He isn’t like me.
- He’s Superman.
- He’s Batman.

Still absolutely obsessed with Talia here. She just has so much faith in Jason’s recovery and is so oddly devoted to him at his time with the League.
Of course Talia is going to see improvement where others are not. They’re only ever throwing physical stimulus his way, which he reacts to accordingly. But how many of them every engage him emotionally? How many just sit and talk to him rather than at him or about him. Jason isn’t entirely unaware, on some level he knows what’s going on even if he can’t react in a “usual” manner. It’s just that Talia is the only one that seems to see that because apparently she’s the only one who sit and talk with the deeply traumatized child other than just sending guys to try and kick the shit out of him.
The hoards of ninja goons and the slap aside, Talia is as gentle with Jason as she can be. That is, until the pit where he was pulled out and he hit the ground running.

The whole Eddie Drake fiasco is so funny to me. Like, what do you mean Tim took one look at Bruce, ready and willing to adopt him after Jack died, and just said “nah I’m good” and proceeded to hire some random actor to pose as his fake uncle just so that didn’t happen
And then, AND THEN, when Bruce finds out he’s not upset at all. He’s literally like “damn Tim you really outdid yourself with this one. You need any help with this? No, you’re good? Okay well have fun” like BRO

Bruce, in a meeting: My policy is if you see something, say something.
Robin!Dick: I saw a squirrel in a tree today!
Bruce, with the tone of someone who is used to Dick: Outstanding.
Bruce: This is what I'm talking about people.
