One of the many waterways in the Currumbin Valley Ecovillage where i’m lucky enough to be renting a pad. There seems to be an endless supply of picturesque trails and waterways in the bush surrounding the residences, perfect for lazy wandering after a day at work

I took this photo while resting on the side of the road in Vigan City, a quiet former Spanish colonial town 6 hours north of Manila. The Spanish influence is evident in the architecture and signage around the old part of the town. I did not see any other Western tourists in my 4 days spent there - but I did see plenty of Manilan's up for a weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of the world's most densely populated city.

Miller Baguiste, born and bred in the village perched a few hours walk below the summit of Mount Pulag. He guides for a living, and hopes to earn enough to put the last 2 of his 7 children back into college. We had the mountain completely to ourselves as a result of going up in the middle of the week. Spectacular views from the highest point on Luzon.
