my actual problem with demonising Jack&Janet fics is not the "it never happened!" fact, honestly. It's just a trope. (Yeah,character-ruining, but pretty common in fandom of all sorts of books, comics, cartoons, etc.) The actual problem for me.. I'm kinda bitter most people don't even try to show real consequences to the mistreat they're describing. But then again, why would they? It's easier and more fun to write a little hugging teddy bear easy to love and adore, comfort target. Simple trope. Maybe they are right to do so, maybe they are not. But it just feels wrong, to me...
