hey just wanted to let you know that your Levi mini series protector is one of my favourite Levi fics of all time. like it strikes the balance of being in character while also being everything I want to hear? I think thats a big part of why so many people are attracted to Levi, he’s so strong and cares about the people he’s close to so much he would do anything to protect them… like I think a lot of people (me) wish they had someone who would look after them unconditionally like that. Anyway I hope you’re doing well <3
this makes me wanna cry, it’s people like you who help me in my darkest days. i really appreciate this. thank you for making me want to keep writing xoxo

snowy season.
pairings: levi ackerman x y/n
warnings: mention of disownment
word count: 20k (maybe more haha)
genre: fanfic romance
⟶ summary: what happens when everyone leaves for the holiday season, but you have nobody… but neither does captain levi?
an: hey everyone! i ended up with covid so i had time to make this little levi piece. he’s my safe place. i want nothing more in this world but him :,) so enjoy a snowy day with him !! ⛄️
Tumblr media
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
the snowy season was always your favorite. there was something about the cold, bundling up under layers, wind hitting your face as you walk with a group of friends. it was almost a life reset,
until it wasn’t.
then you lost your friends, your family, all due to their ideals and how they hated yours. why couldn’t they love you because you joined the scouts? it was your choice. but to all of them you were nothing but wasted tax dollars to a useless cause.
but that’s not how you saw it.
you left so others could have that walk with their friends and so little kids could still build a snowman. so people could live.
but now it’s snowy season, and here you are,
alone.
it was early morning, the snow falling gracefully. you finally decided to get out of bed in your scout dorm and look out the window. in your heart you still appreciated everything, but there’s more weight on your heart when you let a soft smile at the elegant scene out your window. you decided maybe you should go for a morning walk like you used to do with your best friend armin. but he was in shiganshina for the holidays.
along with the rest of the 104th squad.
the only people who stayed on base besides the high staff like Captians and the Commander were the few stragglers who had no family or didn’t want to leave for the weekend.
still in your room, you pulled on your entire scout uniform, boots and hooded cape. you were off duty, but this life is what you knew and you’d continue today like any other day.
you stepped into the hallway of the castle, pausing quickly as the old floors creaked. the large clock rang quietly signaling it was four in the morning. you let out a sigh, knowing it was officially the day before your holiday.
you quietly went down the steps and made your way outside. it was very cold, and you felt your nose go pink very quickly. you decided nonetheless to walk the grounds in a large circle.
as you walked you felt a bit lighter, but nowhere close to where you should be. as you made your way in a full circle you stopped in your tracks because someone was at the door.
captain levi stood, also in full gear, his hood up causing his bangs to lightly feather his eyes. he simply stared at you, your cheeks as red as your nose, your fingertips without gloves.
he approached you without a word and you weren’t sure what to say either. he whipped out his black gloves from his pocket and gently took your hand, to put them on for you.
“i thought you would’ve left.” he said as he rolled the gloves on your cold fingers.
“oh, i don’t really have anybody, sir. it’s just me.”
he grabbed your other hand without a word and put the gloves on your other hand. he put your hands in a clapping position and lifted them up to his mouth, letting out a warm breath of air, letting your fingers finally feel warmth.
“yeah, me either.”
he puffed air onto your fingers one more time, holding them tight so the heat wouldn’t escape.
“thank you, sir.” was all you could say. levi ackerman, humanities strongest, was your long time secret love. everything about him made you love the world a little more, even after all you went through. you never dared to speak word of it, but this gesture reminded yourself how much.
“we aren’t on duty until monday. i’d rather not hear my work name, y/n.” he looked at your footprints going in a circle, and before you could apologize he followed them, “were you walking?”
you blinked at his suddenness and followed him, “yes. i… well to be honest i love this weather. it helps me think and so does walking, so i decided to do both.”
he stopped to look at you, the way that made your skin crawl. he was a captain for a reason. he had this look like he see your thoughts and feelings, and it scared you because you didn’t want him to find out how you felt about him.
he suddenly stuck his arm out to you. shocked, you hesitated and then took it. it’s normal for a captain and a soldier to take a walk together… right?
“who did you lose?” the captain said after a long silence.
your heart dropped, “what?”
“i can tell a thing or two, being raised in the underground. who did you lose when the wall fell?”
your sighed, “to be honest, i was one of the lucky ones who didn’t lose anyone that day.”
he stopped walking and turned to you as the wind kicked up a bit, knocking his hood down, “but you said you were spending this weekend alone?”
“yes…” you brushed your hair out of your face, some anxiety picking up making you want to walk again. “it’s honestly embarrassing as to why but—“
you went to walk away and his hands grabbed your shoulders pulling you right back to where you were, in front of him. but you noticed it was a little bit closer.
“i’ve lost people in more way than i can count.” he said trying to open a conversation door, talking quieter than his previous words.
you noticed his hands were still on you and you tried not to think about it as you spoke, “unfortunately… nobody wanted me.” you began looking at the floor now. your shoes were covered in snow, you could make out a pretty snowflake on the right one.
“keep going.” he said quietly.
you looked up and he seemed so patient. just looking at you. it was like the perfect picture and you hated yourself for it, but tears filled your eyes. how come he can look at you like this but your family can’t? your hometown friends? how come the only person who can is your captain who you loved so much?
“they decided to disown me if i joined the scouts. i told them my heart and soul was to the cause. and they told me i was nothing but wasted tax dollars and i never heard from them again. i know they are all gathered tonight, it’s embarrassing because how do i go from being the glue to a family to shunted into the dark?”
he didn’t say anything and you felt him examine your fragile state.
“they don’t deserve you.”
your eyes widened and you looked up at him. he still had on that blank stone face, but he grabbed you softly by the elbow and led you back inside the castle all the way into the dining hall with a large fireplace. he stay you down and lit a fire, which you thanked him for but received no response. he walked away leaving you wonder until he came back with two mugs of black tea.
“thank you.” you said kindly.
“they don’t deserve you, y/n. i mean it.”
you could’ve choked on your tea, but kept yourself together. you thought you both had moved on from the conversation but he had been thinking about it this whole time apparently.
“levi,” causing his face to turn pink for only a second until he drank a sip of tea. “you don’t have to say that, it’s okay.”
“you’re my best soldier, and probably the best person here. you’ve taken blows you damn shouldn’t have for other cadets, you take more hours and put in more effort than others at your level, and you still take time for people to feel welcomed. so no it’s not okay, i don’t like my soldiers being talked about like that.”
he took a sip of his tea as if he didn’t say a thing, leaving you speechless. “wow… thank you. i didn’t realize how much that bothered me until you pointed all these things out about myself.”
you both looked at the fire in a comfortable silence until you finished off your warm drinks. he stood up and took your mug.
“you’re appreciated here, especially by me. don’t think otherwise. you at least have one person who would bend themselves goddamn backwards for you. okay?”
you smiled and quickly wiped a tear, hoping he wouldn’t see, but of course he did.
“i hope you know the same, levi.”
he looked at you with that look again, blinked, and walked away to get rid of your mugs. the clock rang, and the remaining scouts entered the dining hall for breakfast.
you stayed where you were on the bench by the fire, feeling his ghost next to you, holding your hands and puffing hot air into them with a smile on your face, not knowing the captain was cleaning the dishes replaying the same thing.
maybe the snowy season won’t be so bad this year.

✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
It was a cold winter this year, but you didn’t mind. In fact, it was your favorite season. There was something about the crisp white of the snow, the scent of the cold air, that could refresh your mentalities and just make you feel reset.
Today was a training day. Every morning at precisely ten o clock, the Levi Squad met outside for combat training to start the day. Lining up in a row with one hand in a fist on your heart, the other behind you, while the Captain gave a rundown was the procedure and today was no different.
Your heart skipped a beat when you saw him.
Levi walked past each and every soldier, giving you a rundown of how the training will work, the goal, and if there were any questions. He looks each one of you in the eye as he speaks and everytime he reaches you, you can't help but give a small smile. He wouldn’t know it meant you thought he was handsome, strong and intelligent. You were the girl who always smiled, who always laughed. It’s one of the many reasons people loved you, you always wore your true colors.
Until recently.
A few months ago, you got in a relationship with another soldier. He was strong, confident and had his eye on you. At first, you thought it was off putting, but then you decided nobody else saw you that way, you might as well go for it and see what happens. So you did.
At first it was great, he’d bring you snacks, always had an eye on you while training, all of it. What you didn’t know until it was too late was how awful he truly was,
Because not everyone wears their heart on your sleeve like you.
You had to start making excuses to Armin. He was the smartest of your group. Every morning you used to wake up early with him and walk the grounds. Sometimes you laughed, vented about loss, and other times it was just your arms linked together taking in the breeze in a comfortable silence.
Now you told him, it was too much because you weren't sleeping well, but in reality you were applying makeup to the bruises on your face as you silently cried. You blinked away the thoughts as the troops yelled “YES SIR!” and began training. Armin, of course, being your partner.
Lunch came much earlier than anticipated and the two of you walked back to the castle, with Armin apologizing for hitting you in the cheek too hard as you laughed. The two of you waited in line and Jean yelled for you both. Armin waved, but you didn’t move.
You saw your boyfriend with an angry face, staring at you. His hand gesture told you to follow him as he left the dining hall to head towards the dorms.
“Oh, I can’t sit today.”
“What?!” exclaimed Jean, “Oh, I have had the best joke. Sweetheart, don’t do this to me. I gotta tell it before Eren comes!” causing Connie to snort out his drink, laughing hysterically.
Armin turned to you, his smile from Connie fading, “Hey,” he whispered, “Are you okay? I feel like I don't see you outside training anymore.” he put a hand on your arm as his eyes analyzed you, in the most comforting way. You felt a head look up and you panicked, not realizing how close you were to the captain's eating table.
“Yes.” You said too fast, “I have just felt tired. So, I'm going to head to my room, thank you, Armin. You're always so kind.” You left with your food as quickly as you came in, Armin watching you leave, along with the captain, a frown on his face.
Your boyfriend was standing outside your dorm room, tapping his foot. As soon as he saw you he grabbed your tray and tossed it, causing everything to spill, “Why did you just-”
“Where the hell were you?” he hissed. He grabbed you and slammed you against the door, his grip on your wrist would have caused you to groan in pain, but then he’d be angrier, so you squeezed your eyes shut. “Oh, so you're not going to even look at me now?” His breath reeked of alcohol, your least favorite thing. “Sounds like you need a lesson on respect.”
Fear dropped into your stomach so fast, you thought you might vomit.
No.
No.
No.
Please don't hit me.
But he doesn't know that word anymore.
You woke up early like normal, but today you knew it was over. You were unhappy, scared, everything you never used to be. You stood up and opened your curtains to let the light in. You looked in the mirror and gasped. In nothing but your big scout t-shirt, your body was absolutely littered with bruises in pinks, blues, and even purples. You crumbled to the floor in tears.
What happened to your strength?
You winced as you got dressed, your clothes covering most of them, and you used your makeup to cover your face, which helped a lot. You knew you looked okay, you just wished you were.
Levi was a Captain, he knew his soldiers well, but today felt odd. He didn't like it. It was breakfast time and you were nowhere to be seen. Yet here was Armin, without you.
As ten o’ clock hit, Levi marched outside and saw every spot was filled which meant you were here. You’d see him and smile, like you always did and things would be fine. except things were not fine. He got to you and stopped. Your eyes were dazed and dark underneath, your legs slightly shook from exhaustion, he didn't even think you realized he was in front of you.
“Y/n?”
Nothing.
“Y/N?” he said louder, to cover up his worry, causing everyone's heads to turn.
You snapped out of it and jumped at your name being yelled. He grabbed you by the shoulders to steady you, “Y/n, It's okay, everything is fine. Okay?” He said softly, realizing his soldier voice was the opposite of what you needed.
“Yes.” Your face turns red. “Sorry, Captain.”
He looked at you and blinked, “You're sitting out today.”
You paled, “What?”
“Rest of you, show’s over. Today is ODM gear training. Erwin’s waiting for you at the site. So don't just stand here, you're dismissed.”
The familiar “Sir!” a salute echoed and everyone ran towards the trees.
Levi put his hands on the sides of your arms causing you to yelp in pain. “Jesus, what the hell?”
Your eyes widened as Levi froze, his hands ghosting where he touched you. “I’m fine, I just fell last night during combat training. So I'm a bit sore.”
A silence floats between you both and you shift under his icy gaze, “Tell me the truth,”
“What?”
“Y/n. I'm the Captain of this squad. I know when things are off and right now…it's you. Everyday you smile and nod at me, and not only did that not happen, you can barely stand up on your own today. You are zoned out and wincing when you're normally my best soldier.” he brings his voice down, “You can tell me, y/n.”
His eyes looked into yours, digging for an answer. Surprisingly, he looked a little worried, which is very unusual for him.
You felt your eyes prick up with tears and Levi’s eyes widened. Then, as you were about to confess, you saw him. He was watching you, and he was angry. Levi saw your eyes flicker and went to turn his head but you panicked. “Don’t move!”
Levi froze again, his eyes still on you, “What the hell is this?” This time you hear the slight worry break through his usual monotone.
You saw your boyfriend leave and relaxed. “Nothing, I'm sorry sir. I'll do better.” You were slowly backing away from him, but he was moving forward.
“No… you were going to say something. What was it?”
“Nothing!” You snapped, Levi stopped walking and with a turn you left, mumbling about sitting out like he said.
Levi had no clue what to do and he always did. The nicest person he has had yet to know was different. Something was happening to you. He felt his heart hit his stomach, something is happening to you and he hasn’t stopped it.
He decided he couldn't take this any longer and followed you. He was high up in the military for a reason, you didn't catch on for a second. He lost you from your quick speed for a moment but heard your shrill whispers and his body filled with that dread he was new to experiencing.
“I didn’t tell the Captain anything, I didn't. I didn’t!”
Levi realized you were now hysterically sobbing and was running at top speed to your cry that was echoing through the base. Suddenly, you screamed louder and the captain realized nothing was more frightening to him than not finding you. He reached an old door and kicked it open so hard his foot went through it and it slammed off the hinges.
The happiest person on base, the reason he, along with so many others, were able to get up in the morning, was curled up in a pile on the floor, blood trickling from your head. He took one look at the satisfied man towering above you and did what any sane captain would do,
He beat him until he was in a much worse state than you were, which didn't take long at all.
He was quick to check your pulse, which was fine, and he scooped you up and ran with you to Hange’s office.
“Captain Levi?” your voice was breathless, you could only just see him.
“It’s okay, y/n. It’s fine, I have you now.” His voice was soft, his running smooth. You curled into him and smelled something like teakwood, clean shampoo, and rainwater. “Don't sleep just yet, let Hange and I fix you first.”
“Okay.” was all you could say, and against his wishes, you fell into a sleep with his voice yelling your name.
You woke up to Levi sitting on a couch across the room, his hands stained with your blood as he sat spread out, arms crossed talking to Hange. You looked around and saw you weren't in a hospital bed, you were in Levi’s. You wore what was probably his shirt, and felt a bandage over your head, the pressure adding onto your stinging headache. She nodded and left, when he turned to look at you he jumped up and walked over to you.
“I told you not to sleep, cadet.”
You smiled, painfully, “I'm sorry.”
He sighed, eyebrows furrowing as he rubbed them together with one hand, “So, are we going to discuss what I walked in on?”
Your eyes quickly left him and shifted to anything in the room. He sat on the edge of his very large bed, the two of you only taking up the left side. “He’s with Erwin, he’s being discharged. He can’t hurt you. Not anymore… I beat him to shit, That's what he looks like now. Shit.”
You laughed at his usual demeanor surfacing, which broke you into a cough. But you nodded, thanked him, and told him your story.
“Jesus.” Levi said darkly, as you finished.
“I’m sorry-”
“Never say that again.”
You were taken aback, used to apologizing. “Y/n,” he shifted slightly away from you. “I think… I think you've been apologizing too much behind closed doors. So, please don't feel like you have to apologize to me. If you should know anything, It's that you're safe in this room and that you're safe with me.”
Emotions filled your body in a way you didn’t understand, so you nodded, words failing you. He stood up and stared at you, then leaned down to you, his elbows on the bed. You froze thinking he was going to kiss you, but he didn’t. “Get some sleep. You’ll have a headache for a few days.” he whispered in your ear.
You nodded again and felt his face against yours, causing you to grow hot. You tried to sit up but Levi moved and pushed you down again. “Stay down. That’s an order. I want you to relax.”
He watched you contemplate him but gave in, very tired. “Are you leaving?” you asked, nervously.
He scoffed, “Tch. The last thing you need to be is alone right now. I have paperwork to do anyway. We learned a lot on the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission.” When Levi sat at his desk and turned to you, he saw you were asleep, but he saw a small smile gracing your face. His whole body relaxed. You were going to be okay, that's all he ever wanted.
He wanted to slap himself, realizing he now has emotions towards his best soldier. He didn't do romantic feelings. But, maybe just this once he could change his mind
and have hope.

genre: fanfic romance
⟶ summary: nobody knows about your abusive family, you’ve kept it a dark secret, but Eddie is ready to find out after you unexpectedly show up to his house, completely covered in wounds.

Tumblr media
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
It’s not everyday you get Eddie to yourself, but today was about to be one of them.
You just wished it was under better circumstances.
It was pouring down rain and you were running as fast as you could to Eddie’s trailer, the echoes of slurs and screams raging on behind you. Your family hated you for being alive, it’s the only way you could explain it to yourself. Today was a dangerously bad day and you knew if you stayed home, something seriously bad was going to happen.
So you ran to the first person you could think of, the only person who came to your worried, clouded mind, your closest friend, Eddie Munson.
Tears rolled down your face as you took a sharp corner. You quickly slid, causing you to yelp and slam into concrete. Thunder crashes as you covered your ears on the ground. Standing up, you were now covered in mud, blood, and tears.
Could this day get any worse?
“He can’t see me like this. He can’t.” you thought to yourself, tears stinging your eyes again.
You began to walk slowly, giving up a bit. Your hair was plastered to your bloody face with your hands hugging your shivering body.
You didn’t have anywhere else to go.
You didn’t even realize that you were at the doorstep to his trailer until now. You took a deep breath to collect yourself and saw his uncle wasn't home, which made you feel a little bit better. Your stomach lurched at the thought of someone else finding out your soon-to-be exposed secret.
You knocked quietly and the door flew open, revealing a suspicious Eddie. He looked confused, probably not expecting company, until he looked down at you, and his eyes instantly widened.
“Y/n? Oh my God, get in here.”
Before you could do anything, he grabbed you and pulled you inside, locking the door behind him.
“Holy shit, you’re— wait did you walk? There’s a whole storm going on out there.” his mind on an obvious, concerned, rampage.
“Eddie–“
“You’re bleeding, like, a lot.” Eddie interrupted in a whisper, almost panicking. He tried to walk you to his room but you were so shaky, he scooped you up gently and took you there himself.
He set you on his bed, and looked at you for a moment. You weren’t looking at him, you had bruises and cuts all over your body with your one eye slowly revealing a black and blue shade beneath it. It didn’t take long for Eddie to realize this wasn’t a simple “run in the rain.”
Something caused you to run to him.
“Y/n?” He said calmly, trying not to scare you. He grabbed your face and slowly pulled your hanging head up to look at his.
“I’m going to run to the bathroom, I gotta bunch of stuff in there to patch you up… okay?”
He saw your eyebrows furrow a bit, but you still weren’t speaking, so he patiently waited for a response, never breaking eye contact or his hands on your face. Eventually, you nodded and without a word, Eddie ran to the bathroom and came back with peroxide, gauze, and band-aids.
“You’re here now, so you’re in good hands. Nobody can get by The Dungeon Master.” he retorted, trying to brighten your mood. To his disappointment you barely smiled, it was more of a small lift of your lips.
You were driving him crazy, he didn’t understand where you were. You were the human magnet of a person. He was obsessed with everything about you, and right now, he was obsessed in a different way.
He was very worried.
He couldn't take it anymore, “Sweetheart?” He asked quietly, wrapping your last band-aid over your ring finger.
You jumped, looking at him. You were so lost in thoughts of today, you forgot he was even tending to you.
You looked down and saw all your wounds were clean and wrapped, Eddie knelt down between your legs, looking at you carefully.
“Y/n,” he said seriously. “We need to talk about this. I need you to talk to me, okay?”
You blinked slowly, and tears began to fill your eyes again. Eddie was quick to wipe them off with his ringed fingers, still giving you that focused stare. He didn’t know what he was going to get into and you didn’t want him too.
But, he’s going to know and there’s no going back.
Suddenly, Eddie looked everywhere but you now, causing you to be confused in your silence. “Do you not trust me anymore?” he whispered.
Your eyes widened.
“No!” you choked out quickly. You scooted closer to him on the edge of his bed, to set your hands on his face. “You're the only person I can trust.” you admitted, causing him to relax as he looked up at you. “Eddie, that’s why I’m here.”
You whispered it, but you felt like it reverted off of every wall in his home. He stared at you harder, his hand reaching for your dangling leg, rubbing it up and down from his spot on the floor.
“What do you mean that’s why you’re here? Something didn’t—“
It clicked.
The mood shift.
The zoning out.
The injuries.
“Who was it?” he said, anger rising in his voice. He watched your face flush and your eyes widen, his suspicions were confirmed. He stood up quickly and kicked the nearest object on his floor to the other side.
“Eddie!” you yelped, jumping at the unexpected act.
He ran a hand down his aggravated face. He chuckled in an icy way, a way you hadn’t heard before.
“Sweetheart, you gotta tell me who. I gotta know.”
You knew he wouldn’t stop until you said something, so you confessed. “Just my family, alright?” you snapped.
He froze and looked at you. He expected you to announce you’ve had a boyfriend this whole time. That his heart was going to break because he couldn’t have you, and you wanted to be with someone hurtful.
But he would have taken his heart being broken over this.
You met his shocked face and choked out a repressed sob and he sped over to you,
“Hey, hey, hey, hey. No, no, no. It’s okay, it’s okay.”
He sat on his bed and set you in his lap, you had your face covered with your hands and he lifted them away.
“There she is, there’s my girl. It’s okay.” he repeated, as he pulled you in for a hug.
Eddie’s hugs were always firm. They were right and warm, they never missed. What you hated was how quickly they always ended, but this one was much longer.
“Is this why you never wanted me over?”
You nodded slowly, causing him to chuckle. “And to think I thought you hated me somehow.”
You laughed as you pulled away, your arms around his neck with his hands gripping your waist. “How could I hate you? You’re my best friend.”
He shrugged, “You only watch Hellfire, you could’ve been a hater instead of being shy about it.” You knew he was joking, especially when he took his hand, fake stabbing himself in the heart. He tossed himself backwards onto the bed, his hand still on you pulling you with him.
You yelped for the second time today, falling on top of him, laughing until your sides hurt. He moved himself, smiling wide at your reaction, causing you to fall beside him as he shifted to his side, hovering to look down at you.
Your hair graced his pillows, your eyes were brighter from the happiness he gave you. You laid below him, smiling calmly.
He did that and he will always remember it.
“Seriously though, Y/n.” he began, moving some hair behind your ear, causing butterflies to erupt through your body. “What’s going on? Please, tell me everything.”
And you did.
He made you feel so calm and you knew you could trust him. You talked until you couldn’t anymore. You told him whenever you got screamed at, the physical violence, the threats, the slurs. Anything you could think of.
And he didn’t say a word, listening to your story and wondering,
Who the hell would wanna break this gorgeous girl.
“Tonight I knew something was going to happen if I stayed.” you whispered. “So I ran as fast as my feet could take me. I realized after running I didn’t have a place to go, but then I remembered what you told me.”
“That I’ll always welcome you here?”
“Yes.” you admitted to the boy who couldn’t take his eyes off you. “I hoped you weren’t kidding and even second guessed coming, but I saw the car was gone and thought that maybe you—“
“Can I kiss you?” asked Eddie, blatantly.
Your heart erupted, but you were also incredibly confused. “Eddie…. what did you say?”
“I wanna kiss you, really bad. Right now.”
He saw the smile slowly creeping to your face, and he didn’t waste a second to grab and kiss you.
His lips were surprisingly soft, and he thought the same about yours, though he expected them to be. To him you were some sort of angel, or a high-elf from one of his Hellfire campaigns.
He stopped hovering and began to sink into you, closing the extra space between your bodies.
“I’m not gonna let anything happen to you, ever again.” he said breathlessly, between kissing you.
You took another second to feel his lips on yours and you broke the kiss, to both of your dislikings, but you needed to speak.
“That wasn’t a pity kiss was it?” you asked, slightly nervous of his answer.
“That was not a petty kiss. I’ve wanted to do that forever. I’ve even had this for you.”
He got off of you, causing you to shiver. He opened up his closet and was shifting through hangers. Eventually he made a noise, some sort of original sound you guessed was a success call.
He looked at you, pressing an article of clothing against his leather jacket to hide it. “No peeking, buttercup. I've been keeping this for you.” he made a mischievous face along with the sneaky gesture.
You smiled widely and closed your eyes, “Eddie, I literally have no idea what’s going on.”
“Good.” he said with pride.
You heard him close the door to his closet and shuffle his way back to you. The bed shifted and you could feel his warmth as he got close to you.
“Surprise.” He said, insinuating for you to open your eyes.
You opened them and gasped. You didn’t think your smile could get wider or you couldn’t feel more butterflies than you already did, but you were proven wrong on both of those matters.
A Hellfire Shirt.
“Custom made by me, obviously.” Eddie bragged, as you took it in hand and he leaned against his headboard, arms behind his head.
He made one for you.
He thought about you while he made it.
That wasn’t a pity kiss.
He was telling the truth.
He has always been waiting for you.
“I- Eddie this is amazing and so thoughtful. I’m speechless. Thank you, I- how long have you had this?”
He grabbed the back of your head and brought you down to him. “First of all,” he began, kissing you in between each few word segment. “You’re welcome. Second of all, I started it after we were friends for about a week. You were new and I knew there was something about you. Hellfire quality? Something? I didn’t realize until after about a month into making it that I was in love with you.”
You blinked smiling, “In love?”
Eddie shifted a little, nervous about his confession. “Yeah, maybe.”
This time you kissed him back, “Good.”
He looked up at you again, wondering how he could land someone like you. His eyes graced your face and worry flickered as he saw the black and blue getting darker. You saw the emotion change and could feel his thumb begin to trace over it.
“I’m okay, Eddie. This isn’t new for me, it’ll go away.” you said as you grabbed his wrist. He kept tracing over your wounds now, not answering.
It was so odd to see this side of Eddie, not yelling in the cafeteria, no narration for The Hellfire Club. It was the soft side, the two of you, and you loved it.
“I’m not gonna let anything happen to you, ever again.” he repeated.
“I know.” you stated.
He looked up at you. “You do?”
Slowly, you began to lift your wet shirt off, and he blushed with a smile at your state, knowing what you were doing. You shivered, and he wiped a hand over your back, getting rid of leftover rainwater. You slid into your new hellfire shirt, that hugged you in all the right places.
“Of course. My Dungeon Master would never let anything happen to his people.”
He smirked at the title and grabbed you by the waist, tackling you into the bed while kissing you, ticking you, talking into the crook of your neck, anything he could do to get a laugh out of you.
God you were so perfect, and Your Dungeon Master?
You were damn right he was.

You woke up and humiliation was the first thing you felt.
You vented to Levi Ackerman last night.
You could tell he understood and was deep down wanting to help you or he wouldn’t have offered himself, but you couldn’t help but feel like a damsel in distress and a little embarrassed with yourself.
You sat up in bed and quickly got on your uniform and put on your scout cloak. You walked to the door and took a deep breath, then opened it. You walked as if nothing happened, maybe the Captain would forget your late night breakdown.
You reached the breakfast hall where soldiers were coming and going and you heard a shout,
“Y/n! Over here!”
You smiled as you saw Armin, waving you over to where he was standing by the wall. As you walked towards him, you felt a set of eyes and instantly knew who they belonged to, yet you couldn’t look back. You were starting to feel uncomfortable about this whole thing, Shiganshina, Levi, your emotions, everything. You were shutting down and as you walked toward your best friend, he could see it.
You met Armin after the wall fell and became quite close with him, he knew your story, the two of you confiding in each other early on, because he had lost everything too.
“Hey, I saved you some bread. I figured you wouldn’t be able to eat too much, but it’ll be okay…even if you do see him.” Armin whispered with a supportive smile.
“Thank you.” you said quietly while taking the bread. “I’m okay, just thinking.” You felt the Captain’s eyes on you still and it was beginning to make you nervous. “I’m going to head to my room though, I need to… collect myself? I guess? Anyways, tell the others I said hello.”
He understood a lot was on your mind and patted your shoulder. “If you need me, you know where to find me.”
You were so grateful for him.
You headed back to your room and sat on your bed with a notebook, writing and drawing doodles to pass time and stress. You heard a knock suddenly, causing you to jump. You opened it and didn’t expect who it was, even after last night.
It was Captain Levi.
You instantly got a feeling of dread, were you supposed to be somewhere? Were you late to gather with the soldiers? The Scout Captain’s have never usually gone to their soldiers personal spaces. “Oh… I’m sorry, sir. Am I late to leave? I can run the mandatory mile—”
“No, y/n. You’re fine.” he said in his usual monotone. He stepped in your room and touched your stuff slightly with his fingertips. The brims of your books, the edges of your window, without messing anything up. It seemed like he was thinking.
“We’re leaving soon, I wanted to give you a warning.” he finally spoke.
Your heart dropped, “Thank you, sir.”
“Cut that shit out.” he snapped. “You do that a lot.”
“I’m sorry, sir, but do wh–”
“You are a good soldier, but you don’t have to act positive all the time. Look at me, I’m damn straight with people and am still respected.”
You shifted a little, he was right. You are trying so hard to be okay, to be happy with today. You didn’t have to be. You opened your mouth but he quickly spoke,
“Don’t apologize either, I just told you last night how I felt about that. We leave in five minutes.”
He left as quickly as he came, leaving you with butterflies again.
He acknowledged last night.
You fixed yourself up a bit and headed out the door, the troops were headed in squads to the towns. You saw Armin in the wagon to your left and the Captain heading inside it, knowing that was yours, you headed in.
The wagon was made up of the Levi squad of course. Armin and Eren were in rapid conversation, Mikasa listening intently, Jean was laughing with Connie and Sasha, while Levi looked down, legs spread, his elbows on his knees, clearly in deep thought as he was looking at his folded hands.
“There’s the pretty lady!” shouts Jean, causing you to smile and roll your eyes and Levi to look up through his hair, not leaving his hunched thinking position. “We’re just about to leave, I saved you a spot.” he smirked.
Jean could make you smile almost anytime, his flirty comments were more of a joke than an intention and usually caused you to laugh.
“Thanks, Jean. I appreciate it.”
The ride was not too long, so you looked out the window for the most part, worried about what was to be. This time you didn’t feel a gaze on you from Levi on the other side, but it was there.
It always was.
The wagon eventually stopped and the Captain got out first, everyone piling out shortly after, surrounding him.
“Here’s the plan.” Levi began, “Don’t leave town, behave yourselves, and we meet back here before sunset. If I hear anything about insubordination, you’ll answer to me and Commander Erwin, understand?”
“Yessir.” echoed from all of you in unison, hands in positions on your back and heart.
“You’re free to explore then.” he said plainly.
Sasha immediately ran off with Connie and Jean, yelling about some type of bakery.
You looked around, watching the people come and go, soldiers, townsmen, children. What if you didn’t see him? What if he finds you first? What if—
A hand settles on your lower back and begins to walk you, “If you keep standing there, you’ll get trampled over. The wagons are going to move to park at the stable.”
Levi guided you away and you both began to walk, looking at the shops and stands, his hand on you the whole time. You stopped at each one, complementing even if you didn’t buy anything. Eventually, you forgot all about your uncle and all of your anxiety. Levi must have seen your tension release because he let go of you, following your every move without speaking.
After a few hours you both reached a small tea stand. Levi moved forward to buy some and a smile graced your face, knowing he was actually doing something for himself. You told him you were going to step back to let more people in line,
“Alright, don’t go too far. I want you in close range of my peripheral vision.” he commanded.
You nodded, secretly enjoying his protectiveness very much and decided to only remain a few feet away, just outside the average sized crowd. What you didn’t realize, was how deep into Shiganshina you truly were.
“Well, I’ll be damned.” said a voice in both anger and surprise.
Your pulse quickened, heart suddenly banging on your chest.
No.
You quickly turned and looked up. There he was. In all of his rage and egotistical glory, stood the man who you thought you’d be better off dead than living with.
Your uncle.
He grabbed you by the wrist, causing you to yelp. “You sneak out and are gone for three years and think I won’t be pissed? I’m about to make your life a living hell, y/n.”
He began to drag you, but you put pressure in your feet, stopping yourself from being pulled.
“You little bitch, let’s GO!” he yelled.
Tears streamed your eyes, as your wrist began to burn. You pull at your wrist and suddenly hear yelling people and footsteps rapidly heading in your direction.
Your uncle's pull was strong and eventually your wrist began to bleed from the friction. Suddenly, the footsteps grew loud and Levi ran right past you and slammed his fist right into your uncles face.
He fell to the ground and spit out blood, “What the hell— oh my god. Captain… Levi?” your uncle sputtered.
“Yeah.” Levi answered like ice, looking down at him. He bent down and grabbed your bleeding uncle by the hair, causing him to wince, “and you better hope this is the last time I see you, or next time,” he squeezed harder, causing your uncle to yelp. “I won’t be so nice.”
He slammed your uncle into the dirt, hard enough to keep him down for a while. You were absolutely frozen from shock. It all happened so fast, your mind was racing and you were trying to keep your emotions at bay.
Levi stared at the townspeople that were watching the scene and they all quickly got back to work, not wanting to mess with him. He grabbed your face tenderly and tried to get you to look at him, but you wouldn’t. He could tell part of it was a shock response and maybe humiliation, so he scooped you into his arms and led you back to the wagons as you clung to him, scarily silent.
He led you both in and he sat down with you on his lap and whipped out Hange’s medical kit she stored in each wagon. Slowly, he wrapped your wrist in gauze as you sat, still not speaking.
“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice trying to be soft, but failing a bit.
You nodded. “Thank you.”
He could tell you wanted to say something else but wouldn’t. You also weren’t looking at him and your face was flushed. You wanted to tell him sorry, that you couldn’t stand up to that man but could to a thousand titans. That you were a coward, that you were useless, that you–
“It’s not your fault.” he said suddenly, while still wrapping your wrist.
You looked at him eyes wide, “What?”
It was almost inaudible, but he heard it from how close he was to you. He finished your wrist, set both hands on your waist and whispered back slowly. “It wasn’t your fault. You froze from trauma, it’s normal that the human body does that. Its called a shock response, it’s happened to me. It’s not your fault what he did to you, and you’re okay now.”
It was something you never realized you needed to hear. “Are you sure?” you whispered back.
His hands slowly made its way from your waist, up your torso, to your shoulders, up your neck, and to your face, as he leaned your forehead onto his. “It wasn’t your fault, y/n. It was never your fault.”
Your breathing grew heavy as you tried to hold it in. Your lip quivered as you brought your injured hand up and let your fingers trace his jawline.
“I didn’t know, I– Thank you, Levi. I–”
Your moving fingers stopped and rested on the side of his face. His eyes were closed, along with yours. his one hand moving down your spine the other, moving from your cheek to your jawline.
“If you’ll let me, I’ll protect you.” he said breathlessly, so close his lips ghosted over yours when he talked.
“I don’t wanna be vulnerable.”
“You’re not, you’re valuable, there’s a difference.”
It was all said in whispers until your lips met. He pulled you against him more with one hand.
“Let me.”
“Levi—“
“I can keep you safe.”
It wasn’t a beg, because he’d let you say no. You kissed him again and he pressed you against him, only to pull away. He looked at you, waiting. In a way, you thought you saw nervousness, like he didn’t like your silence. You knew he wasn’t one to express almost any emotion, so you knew he was serious.
“Okay.” you whispered, leaning in to kiss him again.
He pulled you in and his hands roamed your body, pulling you as close to him as he could. You ran your hands through his hair, breathing in his scent. The kiss didn’t last too long and he pulled away, he leaned against your forehead this time.
“We have to go back out there, you know.” he said calmly, trying not to scare you.
Still pressed close to him, he felt your heart skip. He gently grabbed your face, the whole situation feeling like a dream to you.
“I’m not letting you get even ten inches away from me this time.”
You slowly began to smile and he grabbed you standing up, setting you down in front of him. He looked at you, and his calm face turned to his expressionless one again as he moved around your figure and out of the wagon, you right behind him. There was about an hour or so left and he had his arm around you, grasping your hip comfortably tight.
Your uncle creeped around a few times, but Levi made you didn’t even know, and you didn’t. He would stare him down, until he realized Levi was looking and would run.
Eventually you made your way back to the wagon, he sat on the edge as you sat on the ground between his legs, reading a book you just bought. Every once in a while he would massage your shoulders for a moment, to feel if you were alright. You knew that and you’d reach up to grace your fingers over his hand each time, giving him the silent “I’m okay now.”
One by one the others showed up, laughing and talking, barely noticing that Levi would touch you once in a while, except for Mikasa, who gave you a smirking side eye for a moment, causing you to smile.
You all piled in the wagon, Levi at the end this time, so you were in between him and Jean, instead of across from him. The sun was setting and your head fell on the Captain’s shoulder. He took your book, flipping it to the first page to read without asking, trying not to smile as you fell asleep on him.
You didn’t fear falling asleep this time, there was no anxiety or tears. He proved himself to you today. He opened up and was vulnerable with you and told you that you’re valuable to him. He saved you from your uncle, without thinking of you as a coward, so you were right about last night,
he really was your protector.

It was late.
You looked at the sky through the window of your little bedroom, unable to sleep. Tomorrow was a big day for you,
and you wanted nothing to do with it.
You felt the sudden tears sting your eyes. You tried to blink them off, but just couldn’t. You got up and quietly opened the door, trying hard not to wake your comrades. In nothing but your black shorts and your oversized green scouts shirt, you headed for the bathrooms, your brain replaying your potential future that was so close.
Tomorrow was a trip to Shiganshina.
Commander Erwin had meetings all day and took the opportunity to try and raise morale by letting the troops have a day off to take advantage of the towns, to help rebuild, support small businesses, or just walk around. It was a good idea, it was supposed to be a reward.
But why Shiganshina?
Not Trost, or the interior, Shiganshina,
Your home.
You reached the sinks and with shaking hands, you turned the water on to rinse your face of the thoughts.
‘Captain Levi is going to take us, everything will be fine… right?’
You weren’t scared of titans like you were of what remained in your hometown. There’s something else residing there, something dangerous, someone dangerous. Your only living relative, the one who made your life a living hell after the wall fell. You shook with anxiety, thinking of the words he spoke to you and drenched your face quickly again.
‘Captain Levi won’t let anything—‘
You slammed the faucet off, angrily. ‘Captain Levi’s job is to help at war, not people’s personal issues. Snap out of it.’
You tried to deny your feelings for the legendary Captain, but deep down, there was nothing you could do. You liked him, which on its own was dangerous, given both his and your occupations.
When he announced this trip to you and your comrades, everyone cheered, except you. You had tried your hardest to smile, especially for your best friend Armin, but you felt the Captain’s stare on you, so you quickly hugged your overjoyed friend and left as everyone talked about what they were looking forward to seeing and doing.
You wiped your face dry and decided it was no use, you weren’t going to sleep, you’d be leaving for Shiganshina in a matter of hours, so you might as well wake yourself up. Your bare feet pitter-pattered across the wooden floors, down to the kitchens to get some tea.
You thought of the Captain again, remembering he was a tea drinker as well, but to be fair, he always had a place in your mind. The way he walked, his demeanor, his hair, the scent of him you could only just smell, his talent, everything. You hated to admit it, but it was true, you were in love with a man who would never love you. He didn’t talk to you very much, you’d just catch him looking at you from across a room. When you offered to use yourself as titan bait, he quickly snapped at you, but that’s normal for a Captain,
Right?
You reached the kitchens and headed for the cupboards, on your tiptoes, you slowly reached for the tin of tea. Lost in unbearable thoughts, you didn’t hear someone coming up from behind you.
Suddenly you felt a chest against your back, slightly pressing you into the counter, you saw a hand reaching up to the shelf above yours and instantly knew it was him. He pulled down a darker tin, his own personal tea. He set it down and you turned around to face him, your chest now hitting his as he closed the door.
Your heart fluttered with joy and fear, you’ve never been this close and it was giving you butterflies, but on the downside, why did it have to be when you were so scared and sad about tomorrow? He walked away from you, your bodies no longer touching and you took a deep breath to pull yourself together.
“You look like you need the strong stuff.” He said, voice deep as always. “It’s practically morning anyways and mine is heavily caffeinated.”
You were confused, “How did you know I’d be here, sir?”
He scoffed, clearly annoyed. “We’re not on duty until six, so don’t call me that… and I didn’t. I’m always up early, but this time I heard crying. It wasn’t until I realized it was you that I followed. You walk fast.”
You were humiliated, he heard you crying. You tried so hard to be the perfect soldier. Strong, flexible, reliable, yet he only saw you as a girl in tears, someone vulnerable.
“Oh. I— sorry.”
“Apologize to me and it’ll be the last thing you’ll ever do. You say it too damn much. I’ve seen you take the blow for your comrades many times, you don’t have to do that here.” He snapped.
“I—“
He interrupted again. “Now, are you going to tell me why you were crying at twenty to four and making tea?”
Your heart beat fast, he cared for some reason, but god you wished it was at a different time.
“It’s a long story...” you began.
“And we have a few hours before Erwin and the others wake up, so I suggest you start talking.”
Given nothing but silence, he turned to look at you and saw tears streaming silently on your face. He stopped moving.
You knew it was because he had never seen you cry and probably wondered what could finally break you. You got the courage to look up at him, and his eyes had that dead stare on you, as if he was reading your soul. He nodded towards the counter and you hopped on it as he boiled the water for tea. Dressed in his pajamas still, a tight black shirt and gray sweatpants, he made tea silently, not looking towards you at all.
Eventually, the tea was made and he walked over to you, handing it over in a teacup like his. Unexpectedly and almost out of character, he wiped a tear off your cheek, causing you to jump. He leans against the counter like it never happened, his arms crossed over his chest, analyzing you. “So,” he says much softer, not trying to scare you, “What broke you besides war, y/n?”
He said your name, he didn’t call you a soldier, or a cadet. He remembered and was speaking informally, person to person, not Captain to Soldier. Your stomach gained butterflies and you took a deep breath. He still watched you with that analyzing look, little did you know it meant he was very concerned.
“I don’t want to go to Shiganshina.” You said finally, not looking at him. It came out more fragile than you wanted, but there was an underlying firmness.
“I have to take you, it’s not my order.” Levi said calmly, arms still crossed.
You knew that and only nodded quickly. You felt a tear fall and you brushed it away, hoping he didn’t see it, but of course, he did.
Suddenly, the look on his face changed, but only for a moment. He can always hold his composure, but for a second he looked more icy than usual. He began to move the containers of tea and sugar and you thought you imagined it, until he spoke again.
“Who was he?”
His voice dripped with venom and he began to almost slam the containers closed, causing you to jump.
“W-what?”
You thought you were keeping it hidden, but apparently you were easy to read tonight. Your heart began to race.
“It’s not the wall falling, or you wouldn’t be a Scout. The look on your face when I announced we were leaving was a look of pure dread. I grew up in the Underground, I know a thing or two. Now, who tortured you in that damn town?”
He walked up to you and set a hand on each side of the counter space, locking you in. He stood in front of your legs, eyes on you. There was no getting out of it.
“After the wall fell… my family got wiped out.” You began, slowly. You looked anywhere but him as you told your story.
“Everyone but one, my uncle. He blamed me for their deaths because my parents pushed me out of the way to save me from an incoming titan. He took me in, but I would’ve been better off, even with nowhere to go.” You looked down and played with your fingers, avoiding his burning gaze.
“His words were just as bad as his temper. I had to get out, I was sick and tired of being… a burden, I guess? As soon as I was able to sneak out, I joined the scouts, hoping I’d become useful. My uncle is still alive and if he sees me… I don’t know what he would do to be honest. I can’t go to Shiganshina, Levi.”
He blinked quickly at his name, and leaned away from you crossing his arms.
“You’re going.” He said plainly, to which you nodded. It wasn’t his orders, like he said and like you thought before, you knew that. He began to clean again, no longer looking at you. “You’re going— and you’re to stay beside me at all times, that’s an order.”
Your heart skipped, “You’re also to point him out to me, zero exceptions. If he even gets close to you, you’re to tell me immediately. I’m not letting that shithead even speak to you.”
“Really?”
“Yes, really. That’s all I can do, you’ll still have to go. I can’t change that.”
You smiled a little bit, “That’s more than enough.”
He turned to look at you through his hair falling through his eyes, “Are you sure?”
“I feel safe with you.”
He stared at you, quietly, while you did the same. It was true, that was more than enough. Being at his side the whole trip would make it a breeze, even when you see your uncle. A last tear rolled down your cheek and he carefully stepped forward, as if he wasn’t sure what he was going to do himself. He carefully wiped the tear once again and whispered, “Go get some sleep, y/n.”
His voice was gruff, his face close to yours as his hand slowly left your cheek. Before you could answer, his hands were on your waist and he lifted you off the counter with no effort. You watched as he turned and began to put away the tea, then sugar, and began to organize like you weren’t there anymore. You slowly began to walk away, lost in thoughts of what just happened, the ghost of a smile on your face.
Little did you know, he had one too.
Tomorrow was going to be a horrible day, probably traumatic as well, but won’t be the end of the world anymore. The Captain himself wanted to be right there. After tonight, your suspicions were confirmed, he might not be the most emotional being, but he isn’t heartless.
If anything, he was your protector.

You should have known your family didn’t love you, and it was only a matter of time things would get this far. You just didn’t want it to happen, prolonging the thoughts as soon as they came, until it actually occurred.
You wiped a tear off your cheek as you looked out the window of the Hogwarts Express, trying as hard as you could to keep yourself together.
But your mind kept bringing yourself back to the other night.
You felt the butterflies of a scared woman, and tried to brush it away, yet the feeling lingered.
It was a tidal wave of fear, regret, and humiliation, washing over you again, and again,
and again, and again, and again…
You were drowning in it, so much you didn’t hear the familiar click of the compartment door opening.
You didn’t hear the famous Draco Malfoy snap at his friends to “find another spot,” and that he had “something important to do.” It wasn’t until he closed the door and lowered the blinds, did you hear the whisper of your name.
You jumped and turned to see him, suitcase already up above you on its rack.
“Hey, Draco.” You said happily, as if nothing happened. “Sorry, lost in thought. Good summer?”
You flashed him a kind smile, it was real. You always wanted to make him feel appreciated.
It hurts to not be cared about, to be a pawn in someone’s game.
He chuckled, airy and almost sarcastically. He smiled, but not to his full potential. His teeth didn’t show, it didn’t reach both sides. Instead, he walked over to you, and carefully sat himself beside you.
“Better than yours I’m sure, love. What happened?” he acknowledged lowly.
Your heart sank, knowing he wasn’t aware of what he was getting himself into. “Mine was fine, I got to–“
“Y/n.”
The way he said your name sent shivers down your spine. You always liked the way he said it, but you never told him, the last thing you wanted was to lose the only person that made you feel cared for. This time however, the way he said it was different.
It was business, but you could’ve swore for a moment you could hear fear laced, just so discreetly underneath it.
“Y/n, what happened?” He asked again.
“Draco…” you trailed, looking out the window, hoping he’d get the message to drop it.
He watched you, avoiding his piercing gaze. You looked out the window, but it was like you weren’t even seeing anything.
He looked at your body, tensed and still, you were unmoving.
Then it hit him.
“Who scared you?” he demanded to know, ice lacing his tone.
“What?” you said, fear rising in your stomach.
“I knew it,” He watched your body tighten even more. “Who was it? What compartment is he in?”
“No it’s not exactly–“
He stood up quickly, anger coursing through each vein. Who dared to intimidate you? It wasn’t until he saw your reaction, that things took a turn he never expected.
You flinched in full body.
He stared at you, not knowing what to do next. Someone didn’t just scare you,
Someone hurt you.
He sat back down, very slowly. He heard you sniffle and you hid your face in your lap. He set his hand on your arm, and spoke calmly.
“Hey, it’s okay. I closed the blinds when I first got in here.”
You looked up, and his heart broke as his eyes deepened into yours. You looked so fragile, you were in pain. It wasn’t until then he realized how much of you was missing, you were a shell of yourself.
He scooped you up into his lap and hugged you. He didn’t know if he should say anything yet, it was more serious than he thought. He let you cry in silence, clinging to him.
Eventually, you told him everything. The things they did, how they treated you, and the recent terror you got the other day, just as you were packing for leaving for Hogwarts.
“They don’t love me anymore, and the scariest thing is I still love them.” You concluded into his shoulder.
He rubbed your back trying to keep you calm. They terrified you, they did everything possible to make you weak, to believe you were nothing. He wanted to kill them, and he would have, but you said it yourself,
You still loved them.
“Y/n?”
“Yes, Draco?”
“How long?”
You said nothing, and his grip tightened on you, thoughts swirling of your timeline. He hoped only that one time, a week at the most might destroy him.
“About a year.”
His chest tightened, his breathing stopped. A year? You didn’t say anything to him for a year?
You sighed and looked up at him, truly, for the first time on this train ride. He was disheveled, to your great surprise. His leg was bouncing, his hair out of place from what you guessed was running his hand through it while you told your story, his eyes were red from holding in tears he didn’t know how to handle, and his one hand gripping your waist like you would float away.
“Oh my god, Draco. Are you– ”
Before anything else could be said, he hugged you so hard, you could feel his rapid heartbeat. The smell of his mahogany cologne, mixed with the light rain and his own scent, filled your nose, bringing you for the first time since before summer,
Safety.
“I’m not letting you back there, darling.” His muffled voice said from the crevice of your neck. “I’m keeping you safe now. I’ll fix everything, just don’t say anything and trust me, alright?”
“Draco…”
“Please.” He looked up, and grabbed the sides of your face gently. “Let me help you, you’re too valuable.”
“Valuable? How am I–“
He leaned in and kissed you as gently as he could, not wanting you to ever flinch from him again. He kissed you as if you were the most precious thing, it was then you understood. You were valuable to him, you were precious to him. All of his emotions, wrapped up and sealed with a kiss.
He pulled away, a worried smile on his face, waiting for your response. You put your hand up, heasitated, then decided to touch his cheek. You took you finger and traced his cheekbone, across his forehead, and down his nose. His eyes closed at your touch, a small smile feathered, relieved you accepted the kiss. He traced a small, repetitive circle on your back, underneath your cloak.
“Draco.”
“Yes, darling?”
“I'm sorry I didn’t tell you, I didn’t want you hurt like me, but I’m glad I did now.”
He opened his eyes, and you stopped tracing. He leaned his forehead against yours, your warmth against his cold.
“I wish you told me sooner, love. I don’t care about me, I care about you. Always know, when it comes to you, I’d go beyond the stars to keep you unscathed. You are what keeps me going everyday. I look for you in every room, and if I can’t hear you? I listen for your laugh, I know it by heart. You’ve been my best friend all this time, but it wasn’t until a year or two ago that I realized, not only are you my best friend, but you are my love, you are my lifeline, you are my everything. I promise to show you love, real love. Not what your family shows you, I want to prove to the world you are stardust amongst people. You are what this world needs, you’re what I need.
Each word hit you harder and harder, the sentences bringing you to the most happy of tears.
“Oh Draco,”
You were speechless.
You leaned in to kiss him softly again, your tears feathering his features. You pulled away and took his face again, wiping your tears off with a finger, ever so gently.
He grabbed your wrist midway, and kissed your palm.
“I think you already did.” you said with a tears smile. He leaned in and kissed you one last time.
The boy with a stone heart,
Emotionless,
A menace.
How very wrong they were.
