Lost track of the days, but oh well... - I built them a floor to ceiling scratch post and red kitten thinks he's a jaguar now. Zoomies up the post are great. What's not so great is getting from the post to the top of the cabinet next to it, because the cabinet is very smooth and he is very clumsy. Another unforeseen issue with this was that their food is right in front of the cabinet. I had to relocate their food station after he fell down into their water bowl for the third time. - There is a clear order to who's the boss when it comes to food. Red kitten loves food so much that he purrs non-stop while eating. He is also a fair amount bigger than black kitten. But that doesn't mean he has the right to go first. They got a bit of leftover duck and she growled at him. I've never heard such a deep sound come from such a small creature. He had to watch in sad confusion at a distance until he could get the scraps in the end. - They eat their snacks so quickly that I got the terrible idea to try and give them a dog snack-sticks instead of the regular cat ones. I figured it would take them a bit longer to get through. They absolutely loved it... but maybe a little too much. All of a sudden there was blood on one of the sticks and after a few minutes of panicking I came to the conclusion that black kitten bit her own tongue in her hurry (she was again very unhappy about having her mouth checked).

She also managed to drop the stick in between the balcony floor boards and while I tried to dig it out with a fork, red kitten decided to sit right on top of where it had been dropped. Very helpful. - Black kitten thinks cooking is a group activity. The only way to distract her is by gifting her a veggie. The best so far was one singular bean, which instantly became the best toy ever. Growled at red kitten when he tried to sniff it. Second best was a tomato, that I unfortunately had to confiscate after she bit into it and carried it into my bedroom. Third place goes to a piece of sweet potato I had to fish out from under the heaviest and most unmovable cabinet. Onions were not fun and she blinked and backed away. - I am partial to loosing socks as I tend to take them off whenever I get my feet under any type of blanket. Extra chaos is now added as kitties think it's their duty to capture and dispose of said socks in the deepest corner under the couch. - Pooping is apparently a community activity. Whenever I empty the litter box they will join in on the work and try to poop, both at the same time, while I'm scooping. Negative: this makes it hard to scoop. Positive: I can immediately remove their stinkiness all at once. - The fight about the kitchen table is still ongoing. I've had to put one of my hand weights on top of the bread box to avoid red kitten tipping off the lid and sitting on top of the bread. He just loves the smell of bread... so much. Damnit.

The diary of a cat owner

Day 1: Kittens tired themselves out and fell asleep on the sheepskin together. Looked extremely cute until black kitten suddenly decided to turn a yawn into an upportunity to see how much of red kittens head she could possible fit into her mouth. Red kitten seemed annoyed by the attempt to have his face chewed on, but otherwise unalarmed. I can only assume this is not the first time.

Day 8: It seems futile to attempt doing morning yoga in this place (currently lacking all doors except for bathroom). Black kitten has superior keyboard trampling skills and has now managed to turn the sound off of my yoga website, and only that website nothing else, two days in a row.

Day 14: Home for Christmas and first time meeting Other Cats. Car trip not approved of by red kitten, black kitten does not give a fuck. She apparently doesn't care at all about other cats either and chose to ignore the 5x as big as her cat at my parents house. No matter how close it got. Red kitten thought it was very exiting with 2 new "friends". Unfortunately he wanted to be friends more than they did. The old ones eventually sought refugee in the bedroom to escape the curious kittens.

Day 31: I am trying to teach them to walk on a leash in the apartment staircase before we graduate to the real outside. Red kitten almost got himself stuck in a windowshill, but other than that it went well until the end. At the top step of the stairs I tipped the snack bag upside down. Kittens were very happy about this accident.

Day 34: Came home a lil drunk and tried to herd cats inside. Not an easy task. They wanted to join me when I went to the bathroom and black cat came out of the box with a poo trailing 20cm behind her, while I was still stuck on the toilet unable to do anything. She had apparently eaten one of my very long hairs and one end was still inside her butt while the other was tangled in the poo... Managed to untangle poo before she could make too much havoc.

Day 35: Fasting before the vet is not cool. I touched the food bowl and they came running only to look at me in abject confusion when I instead removed their food.

Day 36: They have both been neutered. Red kitty only lost his balls and is doing fine enough to loudly complain about the 10 min car trip home, but black kitty is a girl and needed a slightly bigger surgery to get fixed. She is now switching between staring into space and stumbling around in her new neon green onesie. I can't tell whether it's the sedation or the onesie that's messing with her the most. Definitely the drugs. Jumping = impossible, climbing only through sheer stubborness. She is also purring much more than normal so I suspect she's hella high on drugs.

Day 37: I introduced red kitten to whistling today. Suffice to say he (red kitten) is not impressed and immediately stopped purring while he looked at me like I was insane. Black kitten is still stuck in the onesie and refuses to move more than absolutely necessary. So she will pretty much go to a room, pick a spot and sit still and stare until we change to a different room. Refuses to play :(

Day 45: Time to get the stiches out. Decided to walk to the vet with them in a shared cage but I forgot how much these little buggers eat. They are already getting heavy. Red kitten does not like cars or cages so I let him out on a leash in the waiting room and he got to see a dog for the first time. Very exciting, but a little scary when one of them wanted to come say hi. The two dogs he met were very well behaved and didn't bark at all.

Day 50: Doing yoga and watching netflix. Black kitten loves TV and follows along with what's happening on the screen next to me (without stepping on the keyboard this time). Red kitten wants to be a part of doing yoga, mostly by either stepping on me or laying right up against my legs.

Day 55: Came home to another glass bowl that had been sacrificed to the floor. They still refuse to stay off the kitchen counter and keep sitting in and biting the plants in the home until said plantlife doesn't have much life left at all.

Day 56: Kitties love to observe the strange human that likes to be submerged in water. Black kitty almost gave me a heart attack because she fucking licked the soap. And when cats eat something that tastes bad they will briefly foam around the mouth. So I had to jump naked from the tub to catch her while trying to determine how dying she was on a scale from 1-10 and whether to call the emergency vet. 1 min later she is perfectly fine and not happy about me trying to look into her mouth to be sure she didn't eat somethin toxic.

Day 72: Red kitten loooves bread. This is a problem because he keeps trying to break into anything containing bread and he will soon figure out how to get into the bread box on the kitchen counter. He also steals paper/plastic bags that have contained bread and tries to hide his head in the bags when I tell him off for being on the kitchen counter.
