I just had to take my melatonin pill (for sleep) and accidentally drank a bit of my left behind, cold and caffeinated tea to flush it down.

I think... I think my brain is not braining so well today.

Having two teenage cats is like... every time I think my apartment is "finished" they do something that makes it clear that is is not.

I thought I could have my shirts and dresses on an open hanger instead of a closet. Stupid really, I might as well have called it cat playground. It's just so fun to climb the dresses with their little claws.

Plants? Ohh how exiting. Excellent for biting, sitting in the big pots is great and playing with the dirt from the small pots by digging as much of it as possible out on the windowshill is good enrichment.

The chairs and couch. Hmm, better cover all that up unless you want them torn to shreds.

And that tiny breadbin? Can definitely break into that and eat the bread. (Was replaced with bigger bread bin with heavy lid)

Shaggy wall to wall carpet left by previous owner of the apartment? There was a peeing incident. And a puking one. Good luck cleaning that out, might as well just cut off enough of the carpet so it becomes a manageble size to clean.

A flimsy mosquito net to cover the window? Will be torn immediately, try again.

An uncovered yoga mat turns out to be a supreme scratching spot. I now have small blue pieces of yoga mat all over the place. Sometimes they walk around with little pieces stuck between their toebeans.

A lot of these bot comments start out with a compliment and then turns nasty in a weird "gotcha" kind of way.

The key to recognise the bot comments is that they never have anything that actually describes your fic. It's always something generic that could be commented on any fic.

Heads up for those who need it, there's a new bot commenter going around on AO3 that will tell you your writing is shit and you should quit. It's a bot. They did not read your fic. You are amazing.

I have just been on a first aid course and then had the misfortune of watching a crime show where they tried the most half-assed cpr like 4 times in a row and they always stopped trying in less than 30 sec and proclaimed the vicitim dead. Ffs. That shit is not only infuriating it's also spreading dangerous misinformation.

So adding to this:

You are not supposed to stop CPR before a trained medic or doctor tells you to stop or someone else takes over! It's not one of those things were you just quit if it doesn't look like it immediately works. It's also common to change who is doing the compressions so you can keep going for longer.

You can't tell whether a person is alive or not based on feeling for the pulse. Even trained doctors can easily misidentify whether a person has a pulse or not.

A person with no pulse and no breathing can still make noise sometimes also known as the death rattle. This sound can even be the noise that alerts other people that they need to start CPR asap.

The person may not be completely still even if they are technically dead. There are a lot of different types of spasms that can happen in the body in the process of dying, like jaw tension and jerking limbs.

CPR varies a lot based on the time and place. Just 20 years ago in many places people were told not to attempt CPR unless they had specific training. In my country the survival stats went from ~4% to ~14% for outside hospital cases since it was changed to "just fucking try, you literally cannot make them more dead".

Some countries/cities have a "heart runner" system were people nearby will be alerted on their phones as soon as it's called in and then run to pick up the nearest defibrillator. So all of a sudden you can have 3 helpful strangers standing in your living room.

my fellow fanfic writers, if you have someone who gives CPR in a fic, particularly if theyre going at it for a while, they are going to be sore for a few days after. The couple times I've had to do it it always was worst in my forearms. Every time they move, they're going to be reminded of what happened. There is underutilized potential for angst, please take it to your advantage.

Another day in the ~Lab~ 🔥📞🧨⚗️🧪

In todays episode: I present to you, my stupid boss. He told the student to use a heating jacket for synthesis that had obvious damage to the wire. "Just be careful and it'll be fine."

Dude. Man. These young ones can't figure out how to properly clamp a piece of glassware and you think they can deal with ancient faulty equipment?

And guess what, it went to shit. One of them leaned on the wire while it was plugged in and that was the last bit that poor abused thing could handle. Apparently the spark it made even lit a small flame and she got a nice little burn on her labcoat. The alarm went off and all the students left the lab even though there was no more danger, because guess what, there was no professor or TA with them because they didn't adjust for how many had joined the course.

This is were I get called in to report whatever tf is going on and we figure out that is short circuited the fumehoods that currently contain a hot reaction mixture and it's starting to smell because, yay, no proper air circulation.

So we have to call the emergency electrician because no one knows where to reset the fumehoods. And I check the "it'll be fine" heating jacket and it is so far from fine that I don't know what he was thinking. There's visible open metal wire in two spots one of which is now very broken after the tiny fire it started. And the rubber covering on the rest of the wire is so cracked and sad that more breaks would inevitably have happened soon.

Thank fuck I have tomorrow off.

Put on a YT short titled "Kitten meows (play this to make your cat go crazy)" and it delivered more than what was good.

Had my own two kittens come running to me full speed looking very worried and I immediately felt bad. Red kitten made a worried brr brr sound I've never heard him make before.

So I tried to stop it. But black kitten looooves to walk on my keyboard and always magically steps on something that fucks everything up. This time it froze the screen and somehow prevented me from turning the sound off.

So I had the video replaying over and over going "meow! MEOW!" and my kittens looking back and forth between me and the pc, like Do something human! Fix this!

The thing nobody tells you is that you can just write down that one scene you've been replaying in your head with no connections to anything. You don't have to wait until the plot get there or until you come up with the rest of the story around it that makes that scene makes sense. You can just write that one scene.
