BG3 2025 Creative Challenge!

Baldur's Gate 3 Fandom Artists, Writers, and Creatives!

I would like to invite you to a year of prompts to create whatever you would like! SFW, NSFW, whatever medium you would like to create in, the choice is yours! The idea is that we have on prompt per month so it should be easier to follow along without becoming overloaded. You don't have to create something specifically for the event either - if you have a WIP or other work you're publishing that month that fits the description you are more than welcome to add that in! I'll make a new post at the start of each month with the details of that month's challenge prompt, but this will be our masterpost to start the year off with a bang. Details below the cut!

The Year Of Prompts

January - New Year New You Pick a new character, trope, or pairing. Something you haven’t tried before. Make it a challenge to do something new and different! February - Romance Novels Go for something romantic, or if romance isn’t your cup of tea try something around the Necromancy of Thay instead! March - Marching Forwards March to your goal to finish a WIP or LongFic, or March into a new world by making something in an AU! April - Fools Rush In Make something humorous, something fun, whether it’s based on a meme or a joke pairing or just something with a bit more whimsy and some laughs~ May - Maybe? What If? Reverse a trope or reimagine a part of the canon - what if things were different? 

June - June Bugs Create something centred around a game glitch or exploit, past or present! July - Why Would July To Me? A piece around lies, deceptions, and other ways the truth can be twisted or obscured. August - When In Rome… A piece themed around the customs of specific races, backgrounds, regions, or Guilds. Are they followed or broken? That’s up to you! September - Seven Deadly Sins Pick one, or more, of the classic “seven deadly sins” and see how that can relate to one or more characters or tropes. October - Days of the Dead Create something around a character death, a memorial, a lingering ghost, or find a way a character might cheat their death or be brought back from it~ 

November - Gnomevember Either create something centred on Gnome characters from the game, or the other story points around them (Steel Watch, Iron Throne, Runepowder, etc) December - Season of Giving Create a surprise gift for someone in fandom, or write a piece around a gift being given by or to a character or characters!

Rules

The rules are very simple!

Create your piece in 2025, preferably within the prompt month but if you post a little early or late that's fine too!

All pieces must be your creations or a collaboration - No AI or chatbot content

You are free to work in whatever medium you like for each and every prompt!

Set your own goal - you can do a short 100-500 word minific, some simple sketches, or write a whole 10k word one shot epic, or draw a full page comic. What matters is that it's a goal YOU want to achieve!

There will be options to submit prompts and fill prompts in the AO3 collections - this is entirely your choice! You can take a prompt if you like, work on something you had already started, or create something entirely new!

The Goal

The aim really is simple - to set some targets, and work on at least 12 things this year so at this time next year you can look back on your progress and celebrate your achievements. If you miss a month or turn in late, that's fine! Do what works for you!

AO3 Collections

For those of you that would like to, there will be a parent collection for the year event as a whole and some sub-collections for each month to allow us to keep everything nice and organised. It's completely optional if you would like to put your work on AO3 or not - you're more than welcome to just keep it on Tumblr or wherever you usually share your works!

This event is for you to use however you feel best, to inspire creativity, working towards manageable goals, and trying something different.

JANUARY DEVLOG - 2

The second DEVOLG is here! It's been almost a month since development after the PRELUDE began, and there has been a lot of progress made. Before that...

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

[Before, it was stated here that saves would not be usable from the DEMO. Doing more testing with this, and now it's pointing to the likelihood of saves being usable after all. Hoping this stays true! Testing, testing...]

Also, this mod is NOT an adaption of my fanfic Endless Dreaming. Although the very base premise, passing out in the good end, and Headspace still existing is the same–the reasons why are different, and absolutely everything else is different too. Those who have read it will have realized this the moment MARI appeared in the DEMO. That is to say, you will not find out any information on the mod by reading the fanfic. It's a brand new story, with new locations, new characters, new interpretations and concepts, new lore–all of that. Just wanted to clarify this since rumors have been continuously spreading despite notes on the mod page. Wouldn't want people to turn away thinking it's a story they've already seen before. Now, onto progress.

PROGRESS:

Majority of the maps are completed, while a couple are active WIPs. Only two more important maps need to be created from scratch! Other additional areas may be added if time allows.

Most general character sprite art has been created. NPCs are also in progress. There's a lot left to do.

Battle assets are still being created. Most of the DREAMER emotions are complete, while both him and STRANGER lack more of the general ones. Enemies also still need to be drawn, but concepts exist. Battlebacks are beginning to be made now that maps are mostly accounted for.

OST for the prelude is near complete. Everyone has been amazing and on top of it!

Writing has fully begun, including the programming of said cutscenes. To avoid spoiling, not more will be said, but a lot of writing/cutscene programming is happening.

Along with battle portraits, DREAMER and STRANGER have a large amount of general portraits now! Many more still need to be made for SUNNY and BASIL in the real world, though. Certain important NPCs also have their own new portraits, so please look forward to those new characters! As shown above, the mirror art is complete. There are still important cutscenes that need to be drawn, and have not been started on. There's also a certain "thing" that needs quite a bit of art, but hopefully that will be simple and quick.

Battle programming regarding attacks and skills are implemented for the main party, but not for enemies. That will likely be done later, as placeholders function well for now.

NOTES:

I believe the March goal is very possible, if I properly balance everything. Work beyond the PRELUDE release will likely start while art continues to be made. I'm still making all the non-sprite art as well as writing everything, and programming the vast majority-and that's where the concern comes in, since including that, I'm also been doing maps, OST, and sprite art, meaning the time spent is split between many tasks.

This also does not factor in the time it'll take to make extra art ahead of time for the trailer. Still, considering the simplicity of the OMORI style, and how each drawing makes me faster/more adept at it, I believe it is possible as long as I stay focused and balance it with my other priorities not involving the mod. I believe consistency with the art is important, which is why I'm doing it all.

The team is reliable even if small, and while I was concerned about NPCs, a new team member recently joined and is really helping out, so I'm extremely thankful and feel less stressed about it. Also, most maps are accounted for, and OST is practically done, so as long as I stay on top of programming/writing, the art will be completed in the remaining time.

CONCLUSION:

There's still a lot to do, but I believe the current pace will lead to success. Even more groundwork has been laid, and now it's being built on top of properly. Certain ideas have been ironed out, and the goal is in sight. Everything will be a lot less stressful once the PRELUDE is complete, as a lot of the art made now will be used throughout! Please continue to root for our continued progress, and look forward to the next DEVLOG!

Hey how do you do the color gradient thing for your dialog tags?

Assuming you mean these things, I've actually been meaning to make a guide of my own for a while lol.

For one, you can only do this on computer/the website of Tumblr! There's no option to select this stuff on the app.

STEP 1: CREATE A NEW DOC / GO TO SETTINGS

It opens a dropdown menu/whole screen full of options!

From there, select the "text editor" dropdown, which starts as displaying "rich text".

Select "HTML"

And it should change how the entire post looks!

STEP TWO: CHEAT

Yeeeeeaaaaah, so I use a website for this lol

I inserted my colors for faeries (#30853C) and Cloud (#6DC1B4) for my example of "these things" earlier. To make this easier, I most often have two windows open at a time while working on uploading my scripts to Tumblr.

To get colours to insert into the Text Colorizer website, you can use any kind of hex color picker or even this one website I've used to yoink "thematic" colors from photos!

Personally, I've developed a massive library of colors over time for this exact purpose lol. Using my old colors as a "base", I can change it accordingly to the kind of "new color" that I want for a specific character or thing!

(I'll use the website to also make gradients for "in-between" colors lol)

STEP 3: INSERT TEXT / DESIRED COLORS

To make Nova's gradient, I start with #A600D9, my color for Magic, and end with #F56745—their individual color. However, being as it's short, I'll use a quote from them instead lol.

Once you've inserted your text and colors, you will click in the text box I highlighted in red, ctrl+a and ctrl+c to copy it all, and go back over to your new tumblr post tab!

From there, you'll ctrl+v to paste the entirety into the HTML area, which pastes the code into your post!

AND VOILA!

You have gorgeous gradient text!

However, I want to give a fair warning and a bit of advice! If you didn't notice wayyyyyyy back when...

Tumblr warns that this all can break your formatting!

It doesn't do it too often, but take it from someone who does an obscene amount of formatting... it's 100% true.

STEP 4: CHEAT SOME MORE!

For this reason, I personally have a whole separate draft post full of my characters' colors (and names lol) that I use to copy-paste them in from rather than using the "html" text editor on every post!

I mentioned earlier I often have multiple windows open while editing? Here's what that looks like!

Additionally, I'll use a separate tab off on the left (my "current wip post" side) with the "html editor" enabled for me to copy-paste stuff!

(Also here's yet another example of how many colors I have)

Once again, you can ctrl+c these things to paste them into another tumblr post with the correct colors!

And it's ONLY possible to do on the website!!!

EXTRA INFO!

WARNING:

Tumblr will only allow each "paragraph's html to be so many characters long, so you can't have too big of anything in a gradient!

And by "anything"... I mean you really can't have that big of a gradient in general. RIP lol.

It straight-up won't save the post so long as you have that "overflow" in the character block! MAKE SURE YOU'VE FIXED IT, OR YOU CAN AND WILL LOSE ALL PROGRESS ON YOUR POST!

SINGLE-COLOR TIP:

You don't need the website for a single color! If you'd like, you can just change the "color code" within the html editor to change specific colors!

MAKE SURE COLORS CAN WORK ON DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS!

On desktop, you can use shift+p while not on any sort of textbox to change the color pallet! I always do tests to see which colors work best before settling on any!

(Tho, the blue background SPECIFICALLY is nightmarish to work around. So if that's the ONLY thing I can't make work, I often ignore it and let you guys who use it suffer lmao)

(Hopefully this'll give you guys some respect for me and how much I do to make my posts aesthetic af lol)

BATFAMILY MERMAID AU BC I LOVE MERMAIDS AND IVE BEEN SITTING ON THIS ONE FOR FOREVER (its still a wip)

The tank was huge. It was 347 feet long, 259 feet wide, and 45 feet deep. It's one of the largest aquarium tanks in the world and it's one of Bruce’s greatest achievements.

The tank has several passageways leading to smaller tanks private caves, and a handful of alcoves.

Rays, smaller sharks, groupers, eels, and almost 70 species of fish fill the vibrant tank. But as pretty as the fish are, they aren't the main attraction in this particular tank.

No, that belongs to Bruce’s other greatest achievement. His mers.

He has one of the largest medical rehabilitation centers in the world. The outside is treated like a normal aquarium, with people coming from all over to see the beautiful creatures, but behind the scenes are people going out of their way to rescue and research the mers.

Bruce picked it up from his father. It was a silly dream that the man had had before his parent's murder. Bruce has dedicated his entire life to bringing that dream to life.

He has helped many, hundreds, even, of mermaids and mermen through his facility. Each mer is helped back into ocean life, save for the ones that are too injured or sickly to go back, though, even those mers are free to leave should they choose. Some mers will come back frequently just to say hi are get free check up when they are ill or pregnant or want to show off there progress as thanks.

There are a few smaller tanks that are meant for things like pod training mers who have been alone since pups and don’t know how to handle society, or feral mers that are being retrained to not be violent. There are habitat based tanks as well, made for mers that live in extreme climates, such as selkies that are used to freezing waters or more sensitive tropical fish that can’t acclimate to anything other than their usual warmer waters.

Of all of the mers though, there are a handful that stay for far different reason than that of the sickly or disabled.

It’s a running joke in the community that Bruce is keeping his own orphanage. But if you ask him, he will tell you flat out that the mers are his family or his pod.

He found Dick early on in his endeavors. The mer is a beautiful Betta. An omega orphaned when his pod was tragically killed in a different aquarium. Bruce took him in immediately. Dick ended up being a very clingy pup, and seemed to see Bruce as a form of parent. The betta was flashy, always one to perform and show off his beautiful bluish greenish fins to any curious humans that passed him by.

Bruce stumbled upon Jason on accident. He’s been out at sea one day, enjoying a relaxing summer day in his newest boat when his fishing pole, and all of his bait suddenly disappeared without a trace. A few minutes of frantic looking later, a small, wriggling body floated up to the surface. A merpup had somehow managed to steal all his bait and his pole when he wasn’t looking, but it seemed the poor pup had gotten himself tangled in the fishing line.

Jason is an outcast. His parents were from differing species, making Jason a ‘mutt’. He was shunned by both his species, and his mother was shunned for breeding with a species outside of her own. So of course Bruce took him in. Jason is half grey reef shark and half snapper, leaving him with a red, shiny shark tail. The alpha is every bit territorial as his species would lead him to be, but he’s calmed down a ton since his vicious teen days.

Tim was harder to get than any of Bruce’s other mers. The omega mer was bred in captivity and was quickly taken from his mother almost as soon as he was born. The Drakes were known for their interests in amazing things. They had many statues, precious gems, antique armors and books and anything else they either find on their digs or buy on the black market. One day they decided to add a rare mer to their collection: a crossbreed between a cuttlefish mer and a betta mer. Tim’s tail resembles Dick’s in shape, but his is naturally a red and black ombré, with short and soft fins that decorate his body. It changes colors often though, thanks to his cuttlefish father.

As beautiful and amazing as Tim is, the crossbreeding of his two species has left him with many health complications in his life. A small cut can lead to deadly infections, he is very frail and his scales are much softer/more vulnerable than most other mers. But the worst of it is his omegan side.

The Drakes were ignorant to Tim’s needs growing up. Sure, he had a large tank, food every day, and plenty of puzzles and toys to keep him occupied. But as he grew, the tank stayed the same size, and the puzzles and toys were only fun the first few times you played with them. Bordem sets in quickly, but so does loneliness. Tim very quickly grew depressed in his lonely tank. His heat cycle was thrown off, his instincts were dull, he never had a pod to teach him to be an omega. When Bruce found him, he was like a lifeless doll.

The Drakes managed to avoid jail time with all their money, but rumors spread quickly of the abuse and soon their empire fell.

It took Bruce months to get Tim to warm up to his new podmates, and even longer for him to learn basic omega behaviors. Even now he will still ignore them and his pod still have to remind him to do things like scent his podmates or nest when he's in preheat. Things that should've been ingrained in him since was a pup. Even a pup out on his own, like Jason was, will still have the instincts for these things, but Tim was trapped and left to rot in a cage, his mind never had the chance to develop those needs.

Damien was conceived in the facility. Bruce had wanted to attempt an experiment with a mer that he had become close friends with, Talia. Talia, actually, was the one that brought up the idea. The mermaid loved Bruce dearly and had asked him to be her Sire. Bruce agreed. He loved Talia, but not as mates, and Talia was perfectly fine with that. She mostly saw Bruce as a worthy father for her pups, one that would breed a strong youngling. Bruce artificially inseminated one of Talia's eggs. Half mers were rare. You found them mostly on the black market, offsprings of a trafficked mer, being sold for half price. A mistake caught too late. Some mers and humans fall in love, and have a child of their own will, but that's even rarer.

It’s very hard to find a mer that is compatible with humans. The mer’s DNA needs to have certain traits to be able to conceive. Talia happened to have those traits.

Talia disappeared not long after the insemination. They never even found out if it caught or not before she left. But 9 years later, a half merpup was dropped off at the ocean entrance of the facility.

Damien was half barracuda, half human. Bruce Wayne's only blood son. The pup was aggressive and knew very little English having been born in the Arabian Gulf.

Talia was still nowhere to be seen, though it appeared she was the one who brought Damian the Wayne Center.

Dick, being the caring and loving omega he was, took to Damian like he was his mother. He nursed the pup and raised him. Jason helped teach the pup to control his predatory and alpha instincts. And Bruce did all he could to take care of his son from where he was on land. And Tim.. Tim hid from Damian.

Damian hated Tim. That much was apparent.

Tim, who had never known real love for the first half of his life and had slowly been making progress in understanding and excepting his new family regressed severely when Damain arrived, having been sent spiraling mentally.

Damian came in, teeth bared and ready to fight for his place as Bruce’s son, targeted Tim for being cared for by Bruce the most.

Jason ended up being the one to step up, though. When Tim had first arrived, Jason thought he was being replaced. He went from being the baby, the one that was cooed and coddled by Bruce and Dick, to suddenly being pushed aside for this random omega with no discernable scent that he's being forced to share a tank with. Jason attacked Tim, going straight for the throat. Dick managed to get Jason off of Tim in time to save his life. Bruce quickly had Jason sedated and moved into isolation while Tim was given life-saving procedures. Luckily, somehow, the but didn't get infected, but it left a nasty scar on his throat.

When Jason finally accepted Tim as pack, a year later, he cried for hours, apologizing over and over for the way he had treated the younger.

Tim forgave him easily and the two had grown closer since the incident.

Damien attempted to kill Tim. Tim was still being precariously cared for by Bruce and Dick. With his sicknesses and his tendency to neglect himself, the older two would seemingly give Tim more attention than the young alpha, and Damian hated Tim for it.

Eventually, Tim and Damian finally make up, but they never really get too close. They are always at each other’s throats, constantly fighting. But not more in a sibling way than an actually vicious way

➳ The Rot of Witchwood

As a wayward Witch, you have enough to worry about. Your powers, gifted to you by a curious demon, the past you run from, even trying to get by enough without raising the ire of the neighbouring town. But when you find yourself implicated in a nefarious deed, it's time to step out of your own isolation, and clear your name. 

This is a text based game about being a witch that is trying to hide from a past that hangs heavy over your head, while being plagued by memories of your family. What is meant to be a quick stay in the region of South Hollow, until you're caught up in the murder of a local boy, Luke Buckley.

It's up to you to totally erase any doubt that it was you, before the people from your past come back into the picture.

This game is 18+ and deals with topics such as murder, abuse, thoughts of suicide. There are also going to be adult scenes in general, but also between the player and the love interests, which are optional. A list of the origins found here!

Taking place nearly a century before the current events of the Witchwood, is a tale that takes place just a few days before the entire country of Varan goes dark.

Slipping into either the role of one of the lesser royal children or of a servant of no importance, witness the start of over a century of war and total silence from the entire east of the continent. The Basilica had never been able to touch Varan, the constant three rulers having always been united on the subject to never let them to spread their doctrine into their snowy, icy lands. For centuries each Tsar, Tsarina and Czar have not only fought back against the persecution of Witches, but due to their own familial history, have elevated each and every one into a noble house.

While remarkable, many things plague the imperial houses. Such as petty squabbles, consistently splitting courts, the business of marriage, vying for affections, and at long last... The perfection of the art of Tagging. An easy way for one of the Royal Witches to show a favorite among the courtiers.

Face these, as either one of the few people born above it all, the seventh child of the Tsarina Tatsiana of House Aureus or a lowly servant, barely even worth changing the sheets on the royal beds. See the two very different versions of living this life before the Century of Silence befalls your country.

The worsening health of the King has caused not only a little bit of disarray in South Hollow, but also complete chaos in the government and the house of Royals. After the birth of the king's first grandchild, he had changed the law of succession. Crown goes to the first born... Or, a blood relative of the current Crown's choosing. And while they lay in their cradle, the King had announced that they were the one to inherit the crown.

Sadly, they've been missing ever since they came of age. So, while the entire stretch of the Isles have been turned upside down to find them, it turns out you've been minding your own business in a run down manor, kept secret by your father, the regent, for... Your very apparent imperfections.

Royals either waste away from sickness... Or become enraptured with a madness not seen in any others.

You sleepwalk through your days, unable to sleep at night, knowing there is something whispering from beyond your curtains, your blood singing back to whatever it is. Things plague you beyond the whispers, something lurks under your skin, angry and dark. It's what takes up most of your day, to the point you hardly realize your father has moved back into the manor, with his new spouse and stepchild he's aiming to install as the heir without anyone noticing. Oh well.

This game is 18+ and deals with step-cest, ableism towards mental health and physical health, subterfuge and negelct.

Okkkk soooo on my other social platforms I've been yapping a loooot about my Storch OCs. I mean I did do a bit of an info dump on them here already, but I've made a lot of progress since then. So strap in for another bit of info dumping lol 😋

Starting off, we officially have a setting!! Introducing Lorenz-12, the shitty old facility all these poor Storches are confined to.

As you can imagine, the symbol of this location is the Lorenz attractor. Chaos theory feels relevant to the narrative I have planned. And no, I don't just mean the butterfly effect. As for the number 12... that's just bcus it's my lucky number lol 😼

Moving on, I also created this little relationship chart with some of the most notable relationships I've planned out thus far. Ofc, everyone has something to say about everyone else, but this is just the ones I've made the most work on as of present.

And what's this? They all have names now!! And unit numbers!! Huzzah!! Each Storch has a name from a different mythology that matches their personalities one way or another. Stay tuned to learn about each I suppose 😋

You also may have noticed a new face.. and it's not a Storches face. We have a Star unit in the mix now, Wahnhaft. She's a little.. not mentally sound. Here's a stupid little shitpost-y doodle of Wahnhafts beautiful mind palace.

Lastly, here's a lil WIP of a Menreiki artwork I'm working on. She's trying her best.

Oh and I'm also working on a lil short oneshot. Though currently I'm hitting a lot of walls with it. But here's a little sneak peek of some dialogue between Athena and Menreiki. It's in a very primitive state, so expect a lot of changes.

My restyle for Onceler and Lana (from the little AU I made)

I wish I could just show the pics without having to edit them to look more saturated and contrasted. One of the cons of doing traditional art.

the storys versions:

they're separate drawings and they're in two different pages but they're kinda like one thing at the same time.

They're not really redesigns, maybe just Lana a bit, the thing is that I didn't know how to draw the Onceler or Lana yet and they looked weird in my drawings from last year. I started working on this story last year and I was still learning how to draw the Onceler, so the drawings I made of him look like I'm not as experienced in art than I actually am. If I have like, 6 drawings of The Onceler/lorax universe it will be too much. These are the ONLY Onceler drawings that I have. I think you can see which one was done first (ugliest) and which one was done last (prettiest). I took around one month to finish each one of these two pages because I took so long to draw, except for the new ones that were made recently in two different days.

Sometimes I inspire myself in other artists to try to understand what works best for me (what is more pleasing to look at and understand). Seeing other Onceler arts for some time and applying my own view of him (and with my hyperfocus back), I decided to draw them again and make them look more like my own artstyle and how I see them. Adding the traits that better define them in my opinion. I also added more unique accessories and design stuff to Lana so that she'll look less like a basic character and more unique and adapted to her story, like the truffula fur jacket and the hat with a truffula tuff. She's an hypocrite because she criticizes the Onceler, but forgets about morality as long as she lives the luxury life, just like he does, like a fake moralist. I think that's called visual storytelling. Oh well!!

Here's a small Onceler gambling I made in the Onceler page. It's part of the story. I want to make more Lana and Onceler drawings in this page, it's a work in progress for now. I feel like I'm posting a wip :P but let's stop worrying too much about that stuff.

Making weekly progress graphs

All it took was one (1) person asking about it and I decided to make a post for how to make my progress graphs. Maybe I've done this before. I don't know. I'm doing it now.

For what I do, I use a spreadsheet. It's google docs right now, but I assume you can use anything because I'm not using anything unique to google docs.

You need at least 2 tabs. I have more than that, but let's start here.

Tab 1: Wordcounts

My first tab is called "WIP Progress". Here's what it looks like:

That's one line per WIP per day, if I work on it.

Month and Week are columns derived from the Date column using formulas.

Want the actual formulas? Month is "=concatenate(year(C2), ", ", month(C2))" and Week is "=concatenate(year(C2),", ", text(weeknum(C2-1), "00"))", at least in row 2.

Date column is the day you worked on it, hand entered.

Fic is a title per WIP. You should keep the title the same for each WIP because this will be used to track progress in graphs.

Detail is a note column, doesn't have to be unique. I use it to figure out working ideas and track parts of things. Like, parts 1 and 2 of the Prophetic D&D game are under the same Fic name with the actual title in the Detail column

Start wc is the number of words on that WIP at the start of the day

End wc is the number of words on that WIP at the end of the day

Total is a math formula that does the difference between Start wc and End wc. Literally just "=G2-F2"

And then every day, I add as many lines as things I'm working on and copy the formulas from a previous row and adjust them. So, for today, it looks like this:

Insert rows, copy, paste, change the dates, copy End wc to Start wc, and I'm ready to go.

How long have I been doing this? ...

Tab 4: Last Week Progress

Let's skip to tab 4 because that's where my graphs come from. Tab 2 is "Progress by Day" and Tab 3 is "Progress by Week" but we'll come back to those if anyone is interested.

Okay, so the general idea is that it looks back 7 days and does a count of how many words, the average (ignoring 0s), and the counts per work per day. Then it graphs them. So how does this work?

Well, the top row is my constants:

Formula in F2: "=averageif($D3:$N10,"<>0")"

Formula in H2: "=MINIFs($D3:$N10, $D3:$N10, "<>0")"

Formula in J2: "=MAXIFS($D3:$N10, $D3:$N10, "<>0")"

The words "Word Documents" is in L2 because I use it in my unique filter. I used to keep track of my work writing but I didn't want it in this graph, so it's filtered out.

Rows 2 through 10 are my data rows. Here's what they look like:

A3: "=TODAY()", A4: "=A3-1", A5: "=A4-1". Follow that pattern as far back as you want to look.

B3: "=sumif('WIP Progress'!C:C,A3,'WIP Progress'!H:H)". Copy that down the column as far as you put down dates. That's give you your daily wordcount.

C3-C10: "=$F$1". Literally that's it. Just inserting the calculated average so that I can graph it nicey.

Tricky bit! D2 is a complicated formula. It looks like: "=transpose(sort(unique(filter('WIP Progress'!D:D, 'WIP Progress'!C:C>=today()-8,ARRAYFORMULA(if(not(exact('WIP Progress'!D:D, 'WIP Progress'!$D$1))*not(exact('WIP Progress'!D:D, $L$1)), True, false))))))"

EDIT! There's a better way that doesn't use ARRAYFORMULA. It's still a monster, but ARRAYFORMULA only works in google sheets. See my reblog of this post for an update:

... Yeah, that's a monster. What it's doing is taking the rows in my WIP Progress tab and filtering out anything that's not within the last 8 days. If you go back more than a week, change the number in the part that says ">=today()-8" to something higher. Then it also removed anything that matches my header row in WIP Progress, and also anything that matches my filter field ("Work Documents"). And then it takes all the unique values of what it finds, sorts them into alphabetical order, and transposes them so that they go in as column headers. This means the column headers change if I add more things to my daily wordcounts, and they stick around for the week.

Anyway, that's what determines the column headers for columns D through M. I've never written on more than 10 WIP in a week, so I've never needed more than that.

For cell D3, I have this formula: "=sumifs('WIP Progress'!$H$1:$H, 'WIP Progress'!$D$1:$D, D$2, 'WIP Progress'!$C$1:$C, $A3)". That is then copied and pasted into the rectangle of numbers there. Everything that needs to change will change, and everything that doesn't won't.

What's it do? Well, it matches the header of the column (D$2, E$2, F$2...) to the date on the lefthand side ($A3, $A4, $A5...) and then does a sum of the values for wordcount that match that column and that date. So if for some reason I have two entries for a WIP on the same date, it'll add them up.

Why would I have this? Sometimes I move stuff to a different document and start a new line with new start wc and end wc. It happens.

Okay, all the formulas are in! Now I have a bunch of numbers. How do I make a graph? This is easier through screenshots:

Go to Edit chart. Again, this is the googs, so if you're in Excel you'll have to look up how to do it differently.

In Setup, this is a Smooth line chart. The data range has the columns from my table above, with a little extra because I think maybe I started with 2 weeks worth. Whatever, extra is fine.

X-axis is Days, which is the first column. Then the series that get plotted are basically one of each column, except for Words because it threw things off.

All the blank ones are on here because they don't show up if they've got no data. Well, technically they do but they're all at the 0 line so it just looks darker.

Mostly boring defaults, but here's the place to set the title.

And that's how the chart gets made. I have more charts than this, though...

You know the fire breathing MC ask got me thinking. What are the preventive measures that the orphanage use in order to ensure that children will not accidentally harm or kill each other? You see the dragon MC may accidentally breath fire to the twins or they are probably physically stronger than them that they may accidentally cause a serious injury if they punched them.

I think I read somewhere that only MC and the twins are the children in the facility but that will not be true in the future. They may even add children like MC with some unique blood roots. Point is, the number of superhuman kids will increase in the future and the likelihood that this type of accident will be high as well.

I considered that the existence of Protectors to guard these children are the preventive measures themselves but considering that despite being superhuman themselves, they are still human. If a dragon MC suddenly punches a kid out of nowhere, was Lexia fast enough to stop them? In the end, the presence of superhuman adults are not the most efficient solution since they are not omnipresent, so do the adults in the orphanage use some special magic or tools that suppresses these powers?

I think there are a few things to address :D I will say, this is a work in progress, and explain why in more detail in point 2). And as always since this is WIP, I reserve the right to any changes if I change my mind :D

1). What we refer to "dragon MC" is not an actual dragon, it is someone with dragon heritage. Same with all the heritages. Despite this they are part human (maybe even mostly human) as it were. Or at least, let's say it that a dragon MC is a not a dragon, or a kitsune MC is not a kitsune.

We need to assume that all children, regardless of heritage, develop roughly at the same rate, or we get into real trouble with timelines etc. I have said this before here. That post also has a ton of links to other heritage posts.

Therefore, I would also say that as children, physical attributes (strength, agility etc.) are relatively comparable for all such children at a young age. I.e. there is no chance of some kid accidentally sneezing and erasing someone from existence. At least outside of extreme cases...

Now making up new lore on the spot, will need to consider later:

I would imagine the differences in physical attributes would manifest more during puberty... Will need to consider the consequences of that a bit more, but it sounds plausible does it not? Because giving hormonal teenagers superpowers is what we do in modern literature, right? Yeah... need to think more about this.

Another option would be that the physical differences manifest according to the life-span of the non-human heritage: i.e. for dragon MC, the strength would start coming as they get older and older.

These are just some thoughts I currently have :D

2) Inborn magical abilities, like any other magical abilities in Wocdes, need practice or extraordinary circumstances for almost any being. The snippets, while fun, are all non-canon. I write what is requested (or closeish... I try, ok) but it should be remembered that unless incorporated into the game, non-canon they remain.

The snippets, for what I believe to be obvious reasons (i.e. cuteness and fun), have made the heritage features become much easier to use, and perhaps bled into other characteristics of the various MC's. Stuff like a kitsune MC accidentally turning into a fox will probably not happen anytime soon in canon.

However, there is a big caviat to all this. If you have been following since the release of C2, originally there was only the option for ONE heritage feature :D But by popular demand, I revised the system, and allowed for more than one. In doing so, I made the MC's much more inherently magical than I originally planned -> We now have this issue of more inherently magical characters than I originally planned for :D

Not a bad problem to have and I will admit, I have started adding some elements of the characterization of things like "strong cat-beastkin heritage -> Supernatural sense of smell (well supernatural compared to humans, normal for cats) into canon as well. A lot of the snippets do things like this (the rabbit beatkin and jumping, dragons and hoarding, cat beastkin and sleeping in boxes).

Because it makes sense! However, for the more magical ones like breathing fire, it does not just happen accidentally. I think I have said in several posts, it could happen under great duress or as a result of practice. The chances of it happening accidentally during normal interactions would be very small. I won't say impossible, we are talking about children so maybe really bad arguments? But considering the nature of the orphanage, I would expect adults to intervene in such situations.

Still, the fact that the kids can now be much more inherently magical also makes things like considering the security measures at the orphanage become into focus, and it is essentially a problem I created by changing the heritage feature system. Not that I mind the problem, I just want people to understand that I am horrible at planning ahead :D I think I have said that before as well.

3) The Silver Protectors are the main security measure for any trouble, and yes Lexia specifically would be fast enough to stop a punch, I think. If she were present at least. But that is her, not necessarily applicable to every Silver Protector and as you have said, they are still just people. Super capable people, but still people.

We have also created the dispelling amulets for staff to take care of any magical incidents. That I will be making canon, but this I imagine to be more used during actual magic practice :D Or some other form of dispelling magic. That is the fist step to remedy the more magically gifted children than was originally planned.

As said in point 2) said, the magical talents, even inborn ones, require practice to be employed well. Luckily, this orphanage is one such place to provide education in such a field (organized education in Wocdes not a thing yet).

Then there are perhaps more considerations to be done, perhaps about some kind of "magic suppression" area, or field for the orphanage that could be employed if needed, but I will need to consider if I want to introduce such a thing :D And what would that entail.

I've been building a PDF to help showcase my work. I'm forever intimidated by my website- I'll happily design someone else's but doing my own is always excruciating. I also get frustrated that every application for freelance work specifies different criteria/work examples they want to see, meaning I have to edit my site or make a new page every time. I am much more confident designing for print, so making a PDF portfolio is a lot more satisfying and I like the control I have over it. The plan is to make a master file for every aspect of my work, then I can duplicate it to delete or edit pages to suit different criteria before sending to potential clients.

It's almost complete, so now I'm glazing each page (all 31 of them because fuck ai scraping my work) and then I'll be uploading bits of it to my social media and website.

Not exactly a specific work in progress, but I am in the midst of reading Fool's Fate and the only way I can cope with the anguish is by doodling cosy pics of my favourite boys (particularly when they are not quarrelling or in mortal peril). Eventually, I hope to work up one of my doodles into a bigger piece on Procreate, but currently I have so many ideas I just need to get them all down in my sketchbook first.

Hi-ho, Wudge here. Early devlog because I postponed last week!

Here's a wip of Myster's hero outfit:

I haven't quite narrowed down a color scheme yet, and his helmet tassel should probably billow out a bit more...

..... I'm really doing everything in my power to delay a proper face reveal as long as possible l o l, since he takes a while before he shows up in-person in-game.

I coded my first chatroom scene using Nighten's renpy phone asset!

It's technically a placeholder, because the end result should look and function more like this concept art -

But having the chat conversation be functional and on screen, even if it doesn't encapsulate the full scope of what I envisioned, helped me make some progress in small areas such as...

Drawing custom emotes for Griffin (and only Griffin):

I'm gonna take an extra moment to talk about how I DREW GRIFFIN IN A PICREW STYLE... I didn't just make an avatar on picrew, okay?!! I drew it by hand!!!!! Behold:

All the layers! You can see where I took some shortcuts like, not fully drawing out the cup bc most of it was gonna be covered by the hand haha.

I also coded in a function to resize and crop the MC's picture in-engine so -

I don't have to waste time manually making lil pfps for the base MC set (or for any future MC designs)

YOUR custom uploaded MC image will be automatically resized for you!!! (Though you might have to reposition your image if it's not centered... Or maybe it wont make a difference bc you used a picture of fried chicken or potatoes for your MC.)

It's been a blast to work on this, I really enjoyed making images for it. Each icon is about 100x100 pixels or smaller, so it feels really low pressure, fast, and fun.

... Oh, right.

I also did some writing and editing!

And I got to a point where MC can see Gemini, the former leader/Ms Hiatus herself, in an online video.

... I've gotta put her in a square and customize the textbox to make it clearer, though, that she hasn't shown up in person or anything. Haha.

Project Baby

Project Baby is a Romance / Coming of Age / Slice of Life story.

It features accidental pregnancy, fake dating, a bunch of misunderstandings, and a heaping side of found family/family of choice. 

It’s about four people who aren’t in the best places in their lives, whose lives collide as a result of an accidental pregnancy and all the chaos and misunderstandings that come after. But through all the chaos they find that through each other they are able to grow into their potential, and find strength, comfort, and purpose.

So, when he suddenly decides to take on a second sidekick and take a gamble on a relatively unknown pick, who already has a criminal record to boot, suffice to say it surprises everyone. 

Including his first sidekick, who now finds himself promoted to senior sidekick and tasked with supervising the new guy.

He’s dying.

Which sucks enough as is, without his father moving him across the country, and away from everything he knows and loves, to send him to an end of life care home for terminally ill young people.

All is not what it seems at the house though, and it may just be the medications making him paranoid but Logan begins to believe there’s something weird going on in the basement.

Project Pantheon

Project Pantheon is a Fantasy / Romance / Action / Political Drama. 

It follows a main character who is a demigod, the son of a human woman and a god who has been indefinitely banned from the immortal realm. 

At the start of the story, the main character is allowed by his father to move to the immortal realm, in order to finish his training on how to be a god and in order for him to keep an eye on and help his half sister who their father favors. 

The main character isn’t sure what to expect when going to the immortal realm for the first time, but the prince of the gods, and all of the dangerous secrets that come with him, is not anything he could have predicted.

Project Prince

Project Prince is a Romance / Historical Fantasy (Medieval) / Coming of Age story.

The crown prince, already somewhat of a rebellious troublemaker by all accounts, is left heartbroken and spiraling when his chosen bride leaves him at the altar and flees the country. [BH], by virtue of being the newest and least liked member of the royal guard, is the unlucky sod that has been assigned to the Prince’s personal protection. 

A slightly more dignified way of saying he’s now the Prince’s royal babysitter. 

With all the responsibility of getting the Prince in line for his upcoming nuptials to the foreign princess of his father’s choosing, and none of the authority to tell him what to do.

Project Werewolves

The story follows a main character who has been dealt a bad hand in life, and who has always been involved with the less savory parts of society. Project Western

Project Western is a Western / Romance / Heist / Adventure story. 

It's got two main plot lines built around four main characters. 

[SH] - The son of a rich business tycoon, who has broken away from his parents and the privileged life they gave him, and all the strings that came with it, to become a charming smooth talking leader of a gang of outlaws. Relieving the rich of their excesses and for the most part leaving the normal folks alone. 

[BH] - From a poor and unhappy background, [BH] struck out on his own quite young and has since used his determination, work ethic, and horsemanship skills to build a somewhat decent life for himself. But after getting overwhelmed and stepping away for a moment of quiet in the baggage car of the train she is traveling on with her parents and fiance, she finds herself unintentionally kidnapped by a gang of outlaws, one of whom is surprisingly familiar. 

[EM] - Born & raised poor as dirt, [EM] has been working since he was a kid. One of his first jobs was as an errand boy for a wealthy local family. Since then he's turned his career ambitions to something a bit less legal and has joined a gang of outlaws. When the gang accidentally robs a train of more than just the luggage, he is surprised to encounter the familiar face of the first girl he ever had a crush on.

Project Wings

Project Wings is a Fantasy / Romance / Slice of Life story. 

It doesn’t have much in the way of plot yet, just vibes, research, and a lot of world building. It’s set in a modern world not super dissimilar to our own, but populated by people with wings. 

If anyone ever wants to talk about cool birds to consider as reference species for characters in this one, I’m all ears.

Sentences For WIPs Game

I was tagged by @ulchabhangorm (thanks lovely! 🩷) to participate in this little game where the idea is to make a 24-hour poll including every WIP you want to work on, and have people vote for one of those WIPs. Then once voting has concluded, you write one sentence for every vote of the WIP that received the most votes.

Thing is: I have so many WIPs that I hope to write within the year (if I can!!) that I'm going to offer as many as the poll will allow, AND, I'll "cheat" a tiny bit and write a sentence for ALL of the WIPs that get a vote. ;)

I'll put what's cooking under the cut so anyone who's interested can get a taste of what's to come, only if you're so inclined~ Those marked as request fics will have the details purposely sparse or vague to keep a bit of the surprise alive.

Lost on Life Day: *Request fic. Combination of bad weather and a "small" natural disaster leads to a bit of Huddling Together For Survival between a certain cobalt blue captain and the trusted friend he's harboring feelings for. Because he's put her in danger, Rex thinks it might be best to let a certain loth-cat out of the bag... (Oh, and he should probably mention that it happens to be Life Day, too.)

Cyber Crush: *Request fic. While doing a bit of the ol' “slightly questionable research”, Wrecker and the reader “meet” each other over the galaxy-wide-web, where Wrecker answers a few… concerning questions. Worried he’s accidentally helped a Seppie, he asks Tech to run a thorough background check and finds out that the reader isn’t a Seppie at all. She’s just a writer!

Stuck in the Stacks: *Request fic. Modern AU, where the reader and Wolffe live in the same, small mountain town that is no stranger to the odd bout of bad weather. They've been passively flirting for so long, but never seem to make much progress... When a truly bad storm rolls in the first time Wolffe comes to pay her a visit at her job—hoping to check out a few books for a "little project" he's working on [C'mon, it's Carol's request fic, of course I'll give this reader a fitting job!]—it forces them to stay after-hours. Alone. ;)

No Foxes In This Hole: Longform story I started 10/10 of last year, series link here. Reader's new to Coruscant after seeking a big life change, and boy is she gonna find one. The crimson commander will too, for that matter!

Seaglass in the Surf: Hiding out on a remote, backwater planet, Din Djarin makes the acquaintance of a woman who frequently makes trips to the shoreline just to scour through the sand for something. He offers to help, thinking she's looking for something she lost. Turns out she's looking for things that others have lost, for a rather different reason than the one Din initially suspects.

Your Body Remembers: Experimental fic without a single line of dialogue where you as a local living in hardship on an Imperial-controlled planet find a little more than just hope in the man who, at first, will tell you nothing more than he's a Mandalorian is the only person who has answered your desperate plea for help.

Yellow Blankets, Yellow Blades: Reader makes their favorite Jedi fugitive something rather special to keep in the room he's always been offered whenever he needs a place to lay low from the Empire. While the item brings up many memories that are perhaps a little too bittersweet, Cal, who hasn't seen a lot of genuine kindness like yours since the start of the Purge, can't believe how lucky he is that you went through all that trouble, just for him.

Like Family: Star Wars AU. Feral asked you a very important question recently, and he's been riding on Cloud 9 ever since! Trouble is... he's having difficulties finding the right time to tell his brothers the happy news. The way you and him go about letting the loth-cat out of the bag together isn't exactly what you had planned, but hey; you're still warmly welcomed once they know you're officially going to be part of the family!

Hunting the Nexu: An absolute mess in the outline stages right now, HtN is a TBB AU that covers events from both season 2 and 3 between Crosshair and a mysterious hired gun that agreed to help his brothers and sister with rescuing him from Mount Tantiss and the Empire.

Glory In Gold: Hired to teach Cody Mando'a under false pretenses for an Imperial mission, it isn't long before it's revealed to you the real reason you're here once, sometimes twice a week, on the Empire's dime, is personal. But it's not long after that that the reason changes again. To something more... intimate.

Loving A Lazarus Species: You've been mourning Tech's death for close to a year. Maybe more. The denial that this death is real runs deep; chasing down the ghosts of ghosts when it comes to rumors your love still lives. Lucky for you, the brown-eyed, bespectacled man proves you have no need for the morally murky research you've turned to in your desperation: proving he's harder to kill than initially believed... [We're doing a Tech Lives AU!!]

Dressed to the Ninety-Nines: You and the bandana-wearing sergeant have to feign being on a date for a "special assignment". Hunter effectively proves that he sure cleans up well and behaves like a perfect gentleman, the whole nine. But is there really a "special assignment", or is this all part of some elaborate bet?

Avelera's Dreamling Fic Status Update:

Keeping Sanctuary (subscribe for updates here) - Giving Sanctuary Sequel follows Dream and Hob from the events of the altered meeting in 1689 up to the modern era. (aka, What if they hooked up after the 1689 meeting?) Current word count: ~7,000 words across several chapters. Realistic progress update: 1/10 complete total, Ch. 1 is about 1/5 complete.

Come live with me and be my love - Dream and Hob fall in love during the Regency Era when Dream loses a bet to Desire. Shenanigans ensue. (aka, What if they hooked up after the 1789 meeting?) Ch. 16 is at 2,500 words, probably about 1/3 done. Current plan is to wrap up Part 1 in the next few chapters then create a part 2 which finishes out their "1 year of marriage" on a month by month basis instead of following them day to day like Part 1 done. Probably won't be a separate fic though, just a change of format.

This Rough Magic - My take on "Hob rescues Dream from Burgess" with a twist that Hob ends up on Burgess's radar himself when he picked up some occult magic skills in the hopes of contacting Dream after 1889 and apologizing. Now he has to pretend to be friends with Burgess in order to get them both out of there, because Burgess thinks Hob can help force Dream to give him immortality. (aka, What if they hooked up after the 1889 meeting?) Ch. 9 is about 800 words in. Story is still very much in progress I just have a lot of WIPs, as you can see.

Joke's On You (I'm Into That) - The 1589 meeting goes very different when Hob proposes to Dream, who is so offended that he just can't let the matter go. A very angry, very horny competition kicks off between them. (Aka, what if they hooked up in 1589 when they were both at their absolute worst as people?) I have literally 40,000 words written for the rest of this fic. The problem is, there's big gaps in that first draft I have to fill in and scenes that need to be added. This might be my favorite WIP but it's also the hardest to write with all the smut scenes so it'll arrive whenever I can manage, I'm afraid.

Banana Daiquiris Ch. 2 - Comic-canon compliant (mostly) - Dream fakes his death to go on a vacation with Hob and Destruction. They end up in Tahiti. Destruction plays matchmaker. Hob doesn't know whether to thank Destruction or strangle him. Current word count 6,000 words. I've been playing around with adding on to this fic for ages. One of these days, I'll pull it all together.

Great Triumphs and Tragedies - aka, "Dream Accidentally Cursed Hob with a Normal Life" Fic - Dream learns that from 1689 on, Hob's life has been safe. Too safe. Improbably safe. Nothing bad or extraordinary or even terribly special has happened to him since Dream began to consider Hob his friend. He knows this because during his imprisonment, Hob's life became exciting again and suddenly went back to normal the day Dream was freed. Hob is not convinced that Dream is the reason for this, Dream disagrees. They talk about it. And fight about it. And some things that they've probably needed to talk about for a long time finally get said. (aka, sometimes the author just needs to write their weird headcanon into a 20,000 word fic that's almost entirely dialogue). Current word count: 19,000 words and about 80-90% finished, 3 of 4 chapters written. I'm hoping that posting what I've got will help push me through the final stretch. Real life interrupted for a bit though.

Unraveling Centuries, aka the Hob Amesia Fic - Dream and Hob are dating officially now in the 21st century when Hob gets hit with what seems to be a memory loss curse, shaving off 100 years of his life each day until Dream finds a cure. This effectively grants Dream a walk down memory lane as he is reacquainted with the Hob of each era and, in the process, learns how much longer Hob cared for him than Dream ever realized. Current word count: 40,000 words. Currently writing 1489 (1889-1589 are done) and re-writing the opening. First chapter is posted!

"Fairy God Marlowe" - 1589 fixit fic where Hob and Kit Marlowe strike up a conversation while Dream and Shaxberd are talking. Hob and Marlowe talk about plays, and faith, and salvation, and queer love, and what it means to live forever. Hob gets a second chance at a first impression. Current word count: ~5,000 words. Sadly, it's all dialogue in script format. I'd need to convert it into prose to publish which would be a slog. So it's a bit shelved until I find the energy to do so. No, I will not post it in script format, I'm allergic to the thought.

I've got a few other concepts kicking around, but these are the ones that actually have (*does a quick calculation*) over 100,000 words written that I haven't had the chance to post yet?? And it's driving me insane????
