Looks like I read the year wrong when I was looking this stuff up (1957, which would have matched up perfectly).

This is almost more interesting though, since all the other material formatted specifically like that (longer sections contained in quotes, without citations, and written more conversationally) has so much strongly-autobiographical content in them.

It almost seems like he packed those sections with verifiable elements in order to trick the reader into believing the false parts he mixed in, which would be: the part with his sister, and potentially the opening part to the whole story about babysitting the deaf girl (although we'll never know if that part's true or not)

Article #2: 2002 obituary for Frank Irey. This confirms that William "Bill" Irey and Melanie Sandrock are siblings, and that Bill was from Orlando (where the Carter family was from)

Article #3: This details some of Bill Irey's crimes. It also confirms that that he is the same person mentioned in the obituary, since it mentions the family company he owned.

Article #4: The most horrible details of his crimes. This gave me nightmares.
