🌅 short synopsis

The witch Mertis lives near the coastal town of Lunares. She lives in the belief of the evil of the world and the evil of gods, rotting in hatred. That is until a lost merchant from Solis, with dreams and hopes bright as the sun itself, turns up at her cottage.

I worship the Greek Pantheon.

I know that lightning happens when there are more electrons in the clouds then there are protons on the ground and that it strikes randomly. I can still believe that Zeus guides it down on its way from the sky.

I know that earthquakes happen due to the shifting teutonic plates grinding against each other. I can still that Poseidon shapes where and how they strike.

I know that the moon and sun rise and set because of the earth's rotation. I can still believe that Helios and Selene are the Moon and Sun and that Apollo and Artemis guide them.

I can know the science and reasons behind how the world and humans work, but I can still believe that the gods and goddesses hold sway over the earth just like the modern religions can. Just because my religion is older and worships more gods and goddesses does not mean that it is less valid.

Hi, I'm Katie! I'm a writer with two ongoing wips that I like yammering about, so ima do it here!

My wips are set in the same universe, on the planet of Illaros, fifth from the last star left living in the universe. There's a continent, some islands, and other assorted junk down there. The gods have a dyson ring, but they don't like to talk about it.

Honor's Outcasts follows a rag-tag group of delinquents trying to survive psycho pirates with family ties, a siren theocracy, magic that rots in your blood, and the Horrors. Their number includes such mighty heros as: a kid who can explode people with her mind, a buff shark lady who survives regular eldritch encounters by not paying attention, a mute aroace siren man with a bitchy attitude, and the world's sweetest gang mamber. Of course, they're one big family, and what's family without a little religious terrorism?

The Mystery of the Mortal God asks what happens when magic and science collide in a world where ethics panels haven't been established yet. Set a few decades down the line from HO, this story follows a cowboy witch with a chip on her shoulder as she discovers a mysterious robot laying broken and confused on the side of the road. At the same time, in a city on the other side of the globe, a blue blooded detective investigates a cold case suddenly gone hot. In time, all players will meet, including the mage who set this whole conundrum in motion.

WRITING UPDATE ๋࣭ ⭑⚝

🌟 hi! it's been a while. i haven't been updating about my writing in the last months since i've been in a huge writer's block, therefore i haven't been writing much. but now i'm finally free and full of inspiration, and i feel like i'm ready to came back to my current novella wip. i am currently 13k words in, which means i am halfway through (i plan my first draft to be about 24k words). though, i know i'll probably have to add a lot in my second draft, since it's currently too fast paced as for my sense. but it's currently all going really well, and i hope to finish it before the end of the summer! (please, let this be my last goal for this draft 🙏) (i was supposed to finish it like three months ago)

๋࣭ ⭑⚝ day 2 — CAMP NANOWRIMO 2024 — ☆

🌙 yesterday i haven't updated the nanowrimo challenge, because i wasn't at home and haven't written much, only ~400 words. but i'm not worried about it, since i have already started writing this wip a few days ago, therefore i already had +1,000 words written and i didn't have to worry about getting behind with my goals. but today i have reached my goal of 1,000 words!! which is honestly a huge success for me, since i'm a really slow writer and i can write at most ~700 words a day. so i can say i'm very proud of myself and hope it'll stay that way till the end of the month (and maybe after that too)

🖤 i have tried out the website write or die. it's basically a website where you set a certain word goal, a time limit and a grace period. when you stop writing for this grace period, the screen turns red and it plays annoying sounds, which goes away after you start writing again. there's also a kamikaze mode, where if you stop writing for too long, it starts deleting what you have already written, but it's too extreme for me haha. you can also turn a stimulus or reward mode where instead of getting consequences for not writing, you get rewards for writing, like relaxing sounds and images. overall, i think it's a really helpful website, especially if you struggle with getting your words out on the page and often stop during writing sessions (like me). it's definitely one of the reasons why i was managed to get to my goal today.

🏹 today i have also tried out scrivener, but...i figured it's not for me, it seems just too complex. so i bought subscription for talers, which is a more intuitive and more aesthetically pleasing website (which is definitely something important to me) than scrivener. i've used talers for a few weeks now, but only the free version, which is still good, but i decided i need the pro plan version to get more comfortable with writing, since it has some useful options like checking grammar, looking for synonyms etc. summing up, i'm very happy with talers so far!

The druidic courtyard turned into chaos. It seemed to Alesya that several people had already left this world — some due to her fault, some due to their own carelessness. The pungent stench of blood, sweat and steel mixed in the air. Alesya didn't let herself be defeated for a long time, but everyone has their limits, and she has just reached hers. She fell to the ground, hissing in pain. She felt more than one person not miss the opportunity to kick the limp werewolf. Just a week ago they greeted her with a smile.

🌙 plot summary

when alesya has been found by druids as a kid, all she had was a golden medallion of an unknown coat of arms. soon the full moon came and the druids found that the girl was in fact a werewolf. for years they've held her closed off from villagers, hiding her during full moons, and times when wolven features showed on her human form. behind closed doors, they took care of her and teached her all magic and knowledge they had. alesya was a quick learner and soon enough became a proper witch.

one day, when alesya was already an adult and got sick of being held back by the druids, she decided to run away. what made her make that decision was meeting of a spirit guide familiar, and the fact that villagers wanted to hunt her down. alone with her horse and wolf familiar, she went on a quest to find out where her medallion came from, and find her biological family. along the way she met new people and creatures, helping them, taking down regimes, and learning about the world after not seeing it for her whole life.
