our wives under the sea by julia armfield

-> lesbian deep sea literary horror, incredible quotes, definitely didn't help my fear of the sea

vicious & vengeful by v.e. schwab

-> paranormal urban fantasy, found family, i just love the story and the characters so much (it's like the x-men in a way and has amazing morally grey characters)

the folk of the air series by holly black

-> YA fantasy, jude is a badass and cardan is an icon, one of the best enemies to lovers i've ever read, the romance is only a subplot but so so good imo, honestly just one of my fav series ever

the raven cycle by maggie stiefvater

-> YA paranormal urban fantasy, found family, it's so funny but actually really gross or scary at times, just a comfort read tbh but the storyline is so interesting

if i stay by gayle forman

-> YA realistic fiction/romance, touches on death and grief, the meaning of life ig, and music is very important. this book just resonates with me in my soul and is my n.1 comfort read forever and ever.

take me with you when you go by jennifer niven and david levithan

-> YA contemporary fiction about family, abuse and ultimately sad. i loved it so much that it really stuck with me, even two years later. it's also queer!

young & beautiful by velvetoscar (my favorite piece of literature ever.)

-> college au, enemies to lovers, pining i think?, the slowest burn ever, lots and lots of hurt with a bit of comfort (i was in physical pain reading it and i loved it), amazing quotes and incredible writing (please just read this bye)

baby heaven's in your eyes by theboyfriendstagram

-> high school au, enemies to lovers ig, slow burn?, it's really complicated but i reread it three times because it's amazing somehow, harry is punk and louis is a snob lol

-> fairytale/mythology au, but also college/university, enemies to lovers, slow burn, world travel, it's so cute seriously, then there's this one thing at the end that just hurt, but it's a happy ending! also so so many cameos

say hallelujah, say goodnight by alivingfire

-> historical fantasy/mythology/religious imagery au, angels and demons and stuff, it's heartbreakingly beautiful, major character death at the beginning (he comes back tho, kinda the point of the book), apocalypse, found family, they're honestly so cute

join me in the afterlife by guccikings

-> fantasy/mystery au, it's about ghosts and demons and cults, i think american horror story s1 served as inspiration, supernatural too, there's a lot of death (i mean.. ghosts), but there's a happy ending!!! hurt/comfort too, angst, fluff, murder mystery

anyway, it literally just came in the mail today in printed form. i'm so happy you don't get it. i can finally actually hold it in my hands and stare at the words that changed my life as ink on paper.

it’s been half a year since i’ve read young & beautiful by velvetoscar, and this book is still not leaving my mind.

velvetoscar’s brilliant writing style and the complexity of her characters make this book a masterpiece. it made me forget i was reading a literal larry fanfiction, and more like it was high literature, which made me see life in an entirely different perspective. y&b is the yet the only book which made me endure literal physical pain while reading, and i loved every second of it. the storyline is so gut wrenching yet beautiful. velvetoscar’s way with words is truly breathtaking, and if i could’ve, i would have underlined almost every quote there is because there were all incredible. she writes such in-depth characters that i felt like i really got to know them, that i could understand them.

in my opinion, young & beautiful is the most perfect slow burn, fluff romance which discusses very heavy topics that are wonderfully written with an enormous amount of angst. forever one of my favorite books.

i'm listening to the ride x my blood mashup (yk the dracotok one) rn and holy shit. nostalgia just hit me like a tsunami or smth. i miss 2020 so much. maybe it was embarrassing but at least i was happy with who i am.
