Forgotten Histories: Welserland

Have you heard of the Welserland colony? The Welserland colony was a colonial enterprise granted to the wealthy German banking family, the Welsers, by the Spanish crown in the early 16th century.

In 1528, Spain authorized the Welsers to establish a colony in Venezuela in exchange for gold and territory. The Welsers installed Ambrosio Alfinger as governor, and his mission was to convert natives to Christianity and find El Dorado. More governors, such as Georg von Speyer and Philipp von Hutten, continued the search for gold but it failed. By the 1540s, the colony started failing since the Welsers were only bankers, not experienced colonial administrators, and by 1546, Juan de Carvajal, a Spanish rival, arrested von Hutten and Bartholomeus Welser, marking the end of any German control in Venezuela. In 1556, the Spanish crown revoked the Welser's contract, bringing the colony to Spanish administration once again.

Timeline of the Rus' Empire (alternate history)

1000- The Rus' Empire starts as an Eastern and Orthodox Christian fragment of the Viking Empire split under the Treaty of Novgorod. The Emperor installed is Vladimir the Great who rules until 1015.

1015- The Rus' Empire conquers Azerbaijan, thus making it part of Caspian Rus' (Kaspiya) along with Kaukasiya (Dagestan). Ingvar the Far-Travelled is the governor of Kaspiya. But invasions of Persia fail.

1050- Kaspiya Province falls to the Seljuk Turks under Tughril.

1074- After several failed attempts, the Rus' finally conquer Pecheneg lands and assert dominion over Crimea.

1140s- Emperor Vsevolod II incorporates Uralic tribes into the Rus' Empire.

1223- The first Mongol invasion of the Rus' Empire ends in the Mongols conquering a huge swath of Pontic-Caspian steppe.

1237-1240- Under Batu Khan, the Mongols launch successful conquests of the several cities in the Rus' Empire. Which lead to the siege of Kiev in 1240, thus ending the Empire.

1240- Independent states in the Far North of the Rus' such as The Karelian Republic and Varangian Commonwealth form.

650- The Viking Empire begins in Aarhus

710- Denmark is united by Angantyr

720- Part of Sweden is conquered and Birka becomes the new capital

725- The Viking Empire expands to Gotland

730- Southern Norway is conquered

740- Central Sweden is conquered

750- The Western Lapps are conquered. Estonia is also conquered and becomes the new province of Eestland.

780- The Ladoga outpost is established and Karelia is incorporated

789-793- First raids on England

810- Under Gudfred, Pictland and Scotland are conquered, becoming the first conquered land of the Viking Empire in the British Isles. More significant expansion also happens during this year. Frisia, the Obdotrites, and Pomeranians are all conquered.

820- Masuria and Prussia are conquered

820- Constant raids on Normandy and Brittany occur.

820- The conquest of England begins and land is absorbed slowly by slowly. 

841- The first wave of invasion of the Slavic Empire is from Karelia, where the Viking Empire conquers a huge swath of Baltic territory and Northern Slavic lands.

850- Normandy and Brittany are conquered

852- The second invasion of the Slavic Empire culminates in the conquest of Kiev. Kiev is an important asset in trade. With Kiev, the Empire can trade with the Khazars and Byzantines. Askold becomes Governor of Novgorod Province and Dir becomes Governor of Kiev Province.

860- Sicily is conquered

862- England is fully conquered by 862 when Rurik became Emperor. Bretland Province is established.

862- Rurik becomes Emperor

872- Settlement of Iceland begins

930- Iceland, with revolt boiling up, is declared a semiindependent autonomous state through the Treaty of Nidaros.

965- Governor Sviatoslav conquers Khazaria

972- Volga Bulgaria is conquered by Yaropolk

991- The western side of the Cuman-Kipchak Federation is conquered and absorbed.

Interesting Facts about Peru

It turns out a vegetable called the potato that billions eat was cultivated in Peru thousands of years ago. They r nearly 4,000 types of potato u can find in Peru.

An even more interesting fact:

Saving nature in Peru

The Amazon Rainforest covers 60% of Peru. There is this conservationist named Topher White who put phones for trees in the Amazon Rainforest, so that when someone is tryna cut down a tree, the cellphone will automatically call the police, the police will go arrest the illegal logger, and in that way 400,000 hectares of forest r saved. This project is in over 35 countries. Wow!!! Just wow!!! There also people who clean lakes and turn poop into electrical or any other sorta energy.

The Republic of Molossia is a self-declared micronation within the United States started by a man named Kevin Baugh. He became president of Molossia when he was 15. Molossia uses its own currency called Valora, which is backed by cookie dough . Its official languages r English and Esperanto. They have a timezone 39 minutes ahead of Pacific Time and 21 minutes behind of Mountain Standard Time.

What's funny is that Molossia is still at war with East Germany. Molossia argues that Ernst Thälmann Island dedicated by Fidel Castro to Weimar German politician Ernst Thälmann and given to East Germany, as well as its lack of mention in the Treaty on the Final Settlement or by the nation of Cuba, is therefore still East German land, allowing the war to continue.

Molossia has a postal service, navy and space program.

The world's first Ice Hotel is located in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden. It was founded by Yngve Berqvist. Berqvist made this hotel by collabing with expert designers from all over the world.

It melts every summer, so it needs to be rebuilt every single year. It melts back into river, and Yngve and his team waits for the winter to come, gathers blocks of ice from the frozen river, and then rebuild it from scratch.

He says he came up with an innovative idea for the world of making stuff out of ice. People also kept asking him to build a summer ice hotel. And his team did it, with it being cooled by solar-powered mega-coolers all year round.
