Hollow hours

Dawns are different in the summer.

They aren’t heavy with the weight of an upcoming alarm.

They don’t carry a small sense of doom with them.

During summers dawns come early.

They come unnoticed and light.

They don’t carry as many expectations as they did before.

Maybe that’s why some of them feel so emty.

Thoughts get to float, dwelling in the hours of a careful blue.

Even the air still feels fresh, like it hasn’t yet decided its opinion on the upcoming day.

With any luck some stars hang still visible in the sky.

From far away, they quietly giggle whispering secrets to the world.

The stars are no help with making sense of the dawn’s current of thought.

A frenzy,

The sound of the lake touching the rocks on it’s edge. A slight wind in my hair. It’s summer, it’s light. The night is turning into a morning. A few stars are still visible. I recognize them. I greet them as old friends do.
