Beyond the stars
(JUNO X Fem Reader)
Kaleidoscope (Chapter four)
As I stepped into Y/N's apartment, she greeted me warmly,
"Welcome to my humble abode!" Her voice was cheerful as she guided me through the door. The hallway beyond was adorned with pictures that told stories of her life. There were frames capturing moments with her family and others showcasing her at work.
As Y/N slipped off her shoes, I took a moment to glance around, observing the memories and snapshots that lined the walls. Each photograph seemed to hold a piece of her journey, from cherished family gatherings to professional achievements.
Moving further down the hallway, it opened into a spacious room where a cozy couch beckoned and a compact kitchenette stood. Next to it, a small counter space and breakfast bar were adorned with fairy lights that softly illuminated the room. The ambiance was inviting, with its soft lighting creating a sense of comfort that made me feel instantly at ease in her space.
Tumblr media
Taking it all in, I couldn't help but appreciate the glimpse into Y/N's life that her home provided. Each detail, from the photographs on the walls to the cozy setup of the living area, reflected her personality and the moments that had shaped her world.
"So what do you think?" Y/N asked with a giggle. "I mean, you haven't seen my bedroom yet, but I think you'll like it. And if you need to use the bathroom, just let me know—it's in my bedroom."
"Also question how you eat and drink or even go to the bathroom in that suit." Y/n asked as she walked to her couch, and she took a seat.
"Ah, good question," I chuckled, following Y/N as she settled onto her couch and activated her hologram TV with the remote. "Well, the suit is actually designed to be quite versatile. It has built-in mechanisms for eating and drinking, so I can enjoy a meal or a drink without any hassle. As for the bathroom," I continued,  "it's equipped with a waste disposal system that takes care of that. I just have to be near a toilet for it to ....dump out"
"Ah, that sounds convenient," Y/N replied with a grin, clearly amused by my explanation about the suit's functionalities. She patted the space next to her on the couch, prompting me to join her. With a playful leap, I activated my space shoes, allowing me to gracefully float down and settle beside her.
As I made myself comfortable on the couch, I glanced around the room once more, taking in the cozy ambiance enhanced by the soft glow of the hologram TV. Y/N seemed at ease, enjoying the moment in her own space.
" So" I say, trying to break the silence of the moment.
"What have you been doing these last couple of years?" I ask as she slowly turns towards me
As Y/N recounted her experiences over the past few years, I listened attentively, genuinely interested in her journey since we last met. Her accomplishments in aerospace and her current role as Director of Mission Information and Technology filled me with pride for her achievements.
"That's amazing, Y/N," I responded, genuinely impressed. "You've really carved out a successful path for yourself. It's great to see how far you've come."
As she mentioned going on dates, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of surprise and perhaps even a hint of jealousy. It was a reminder that life had moved on for both of us since our previous encounter. I tried to hide my reaction, but Y/N's openness about her personal life stirred up unexpected feelings within me.
"That must have been... interesting," I managed to say, attempting to keep the conversation light despite the flurry of thoughts racing through my mind. Just thinking about what she might've done flurys my anxiety.
"PTFFF not really. I realized I wasn't into men at all" Y/N's laughter filled the room, light and genuine, washing away any tension that lingered in the air. Her words, though unexpected, were delivered with such casual honesty that I couldn't help but smile in response.
"Well, that's a revelation," I replied with a hint of amusement, trying to match her lighthearted tone. Despite the flurry of thoughts swirling in my mind, her laughter was like a soothing melody, momentarily easing my anxiety.
Y/N's laughter softened into a gentle chuckle, and she glanced at me with a playful glimmer in her eyes. "Yeah, it took a few dates to realize it," she confessed with a smile. "But after you left, there was this Juno-shaped hole in my heart that no one else quite filled like you, Juno."
Her words hung in the air, unexpected yet deeply sincere. I was taken aback, my mind racing with memories of our shared past and the emotions her confession stirred within me. Love had a way of making everything feel surreal, and here I was, with the girl I loved, sitting on her couch in her cozy apartment.
Everything around me seemed to fade into the background, leaving only her presence to fill the space between us. Her question broke through my thoughts, prompting me to speak.
"Did you get my letter?" I asked quietly, the words tumbling out as I sought to bridge the gap between our past and present, hoping she understood the depth of my feelings and the significance of what we once had.
"Yes," she answered softly, a smile playing on her lips.
Then, against the warnings in my mind, against the rules that governed our interaction, I did something impulsive. I unlocked my helmet.
"Juno? What are you doing? Can you do that?" Y/N interjected, her voice tinged with concern as she reached for my helmet. But I couldn't resist. I took it off, revealing myself to her. Y/N looked at me with a mixture of worry and curiosity, and I simply smiled.
"Juno, what are you—" Her words were cut off as my lips met hers. Letting go of my helmet to gently cup the back of her head. Drawing her closer in a moment, I felt both daring and inevitable. I closed my eyes, savoring the warmth of her lips against mine, feeling a sense of completeness that only her presence could bring.
For a brief, suspended moment, the world outside ceased to exist. There was only the soft touch of her lips, the faint sound of our breaths mingling, and the palpable tension that hung in the air. It was a risk, a leap into the unknown, but in that instant, it felt like the most natural thing in the world.
We parted for a moment, and as I looked into her eyes, I saw them light up with a galaxy of emotions. Her eyes, a captivating blend of colors, held me in admiration. One of her hands tenderly brushed against my hair, and she laughed softly.
"I remember when your hair used to be so long, Juno, and now it's so short. It suits you so well, and you look even more beautiful. You've grown into being breathtaking, and I don't understand how," she said with a giggle, her words washing over me like a warm embrace.
I chuckled nervously, my cheeks warming at her compliments. Y/N's laughter and her gentle touch were like a soothing balm to my soul, easing the tension that had built up inside me. In her presence, everything seemed to glow brighter, more vibrant, as if her energy infused life into every corner of the room.
Suddenly, the air quality registered in my mind, and I coughed reflexively. Y/N's expression turned concerned, her eyes searching mine.
It's okay, I'm fine," I reassured her quickly, attempting to ease her worry. "It's just the air. It's pretty diluted here. I'm used to the pure stuff." Her concern softened into a small smile of understanding, and she nodded gently.
"Okay, good, cause you scared the fuck out of me." she said with a hint of relief in her voice. Then her concern shifted to my well-being without the helmet. "Will you be okay without your helmet?"
"Well, they told me to keep everything on for a couple of weeks," I replied, acknowledging her concern with a faint smile. The protocols were clear, but being here with Y/N, feeling her warmth and concern, made the temporary discomfort easier to bear.
Y/N leaned over the couch to retrieve my helmet that I had dropped, then straightened up and turned to me. I assumed she was going to put it back on me, but instead, she surprised me by leaning in and planting a gentle kiss on my lips before placing the helmet back in its rightful place.
The touch of her lips lingered for a brief moment, soft and warm against mine, sending a wave of warmth through me that had nothing to do with the air quality in the room. It was a tender gesture, filled with unspoken emotions and a reassurance that transcended words. As she pulled away, I met her gaze, feeling a rush of gratitude for her presence and her understanding.
"Thank you," I whispered softly, touched by her gesture and the depth of care she showed in that simple act. I lock my helmet in place and smile.
" Ssssso why are you back ? Because as much as I wish you came back to kiss me . I know mission red promise wasn't supposed to end till 5 more years from now, " Y/N's question hung in the air, her tone a mix of curiosity and playful banter. Meeting her gaze, I appreciated her ability to lighten the mood.
"Well," I began with a smile playing on my lips, "as much as I'd love to say I came back just to kiss you again, there were some unexpected developments with mission Red Promise. It required my return earlier than anticipated."
I paused briefly, collecting my thoughts. "But seeing you again," I continued earnestly, "was definitely a highlight I looked forward to."
I held her gaze, hoping she understood the underlying sentiment—that while duty called me back, the prospect of reconnecting with her had also been a driving force.
"What development happened?" said Y/n while raising an eyebrow.
"Well," I replied, meeting her raised eyebrow with a wry smile, "there were some unforeseen changes in the mission's end....." I paused, considering how much detail to share. Then I sigh, knowing I want to be honest.
"Do you know the organization overwatch?...."

Beyond the stars
Juno x Fem reader
Anthem for a seventeen year old (Chapter three)
I was ever so amazed, surrounded by the vastness of space within a giant inflatable dome that projected mesmerizing constellations and stars. Sitting beside me was my best friend, Juno, the only other girl in our fifth-grade class who shared my fascination with space. Her striking purple hair shimmered under the dim light, and her brown eyes were fixed intently on the image of the red planet displayed above us. As we sat in the cool interior of the dome during our summer camp, I couldn't help but wonder what captivated her about Mars.
"One day I'm gonna be an astronaut," Juno declared suddenly, turning to me with a determined gleam in her eyes.
"Then I’m gonna see the universe and everything." Her excitement was contagious, and I couldn't help but smile as I lay on the gym floor, gazing up at the stars twinkling above us.
Tumblr media
Leaning closer, Juno caught my attention, and suddenly, I found myself lost not in the stars but in her gaze. Her eyes seemed to reflect the very constellations we admired, and her long, radiant purple hair resembled a galaxy dotted with stars.
"What if you come with me, Y/N?" Juno asked, her voice filled with hopeful anticipation.
"Imagine if we could figure out how to live on another planet. Would you go?" Her question hung in the air, and I closed my eyes briefly, imagining the possibilities. Then, reaching a conclusion, I opened my eyes to find Juno still gazing up at Mars.
"I wouldn't know," I answered softly as Juno slowly turned to me.
"I have a good life here with the people I care about, especially with you. I like how things are, and I appreciate my life on Earth. Besides, what if something happens to that planet? Personally, I wouldn't want to be among the first to live on a planet that isn't Earth," I added thoughtfully .Juno slowly lay back next to me on the gym floor. Her eyes never left the simulated Martian landscape above us.
"Could it really be all that bad?" Juno mused softly, a thoughtful hum escaping her lips. "What if you get that chance and your well-being is okay? Wouldn't it be amazing to live among the stars? Take Mars, for example," she continued, pointing towards the distant red planet.
"The gravity is lighter, and we could live in pods that produce oxygen since the atmosphere there is gas." She let out a giggle. "And we could bounce around in spacesuits too!"
Her playful enthusiasm was infectious, and I couldn't help but smile at her excitement. Juno reached out and gently took my hand, and together, we lay there in the peaceful silence of the dome, contemplating the vastness of space and the possibilities it held for us.
"It does sound thrilling," I admitted, squeezing her hand in return. "Living on Mars would definitely be an adventure. Exploring new things , bouncing around in spacesuits, and discovering what life could be like beyond Earth—it's a tempting thought."
Juno grinned back at me, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of determination and wonder. "We could be space rangers , Y/N," she said softly. "Imagine the discoveries we could make, the places we could explore."
As we lay there, hand in hand, looking up at the stars and envisioning a future, time seemed to stand still. Little did we know then that our dreams would lead us on different paths.
[Time Skip - Six Years Later]
The soft glow of a desk lamp cast a warm light across Juno's bedroom, where we now sat surrounded by textbooks and notes. The chatter of our conversation filled the air as we discussed the upcoming assignments due after winter break.
"Who the heck would assign work over break? It's so stupid!" Juno exclaimed, her voice carrying a hint of exasperation.
I chuckled, flipping through the pages of my textbook. "I know, right? It feels like they're trying to sabotage our holidays."
Juno leaned back against her pillows, her purple hair spilling over the sheets as she sighed dramatically. "Well, at least we have each other to suffer through it," she said with a grin ,and I nodded in agreement.
"So, any plans for after graduation?" Juno asked, changing the subject as she started sketching on her homework.
I shrugged, pondering the question. "I'm still figuring that out. Maybe grad school or going to community college depending."
Juno nodded thoughtfully, her expression distant for a moment. "I've been thinking about applying to be the first person on Mars. For that one big company since they were looking for volunteers." she admitted quietly.
I felt myself freeze for a minute. As much as I felt proud of her, I wanted to tell her not to leave. All I could manage to muster out was.
“Oh....... really?”
Juno looked up from her sketch, her eyes searching mine. "Yeah," she said softly. "It's a huge opportunity, you know? To be part of something historic."
"Yeah, it definitely is," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady despite the swirl of emotions inside me.
Silence settled between us, punctuated only by the scratch of Juno's pencil on paper. The weight of her words hung in the air, and I struggled to find the right ones to say. Part of me wanted to encourage her dream, to see her reach for the stars as she always had. But another part of me feared the prospect of her leaving, I felt this gut-wrenching ache in my belly ,and the feeling was a feeling I'd never forget.
"Juno," I began, my voice barely above a whisper, "what if something goes wrong? What if..." I trailed off, unable to voice the deepest fears that gripped my heart.
She set her pencil down and reached across the small distance between us, taking my hand in hers. I blushed slightly at the warmth of her touch, feeling a mix of comfort and apprehension swirling within me. Her thumb gently rubbed the back of my hand, a soothing gesture that spoke volumes of her understanding and empathy.
"I know it's scary," she said softly, her gaze unwavering. "But I've thought about this for a long time. I believe in the company, and I believe in myself."
Her voice was like a gentle caress, soothing yet stirring up a whirlwind of emotions within me. Juno's kindness and determination had always been constants in my life, but now, faced with the possibility of her leaving, I felt a weight settle in my chest. The thought of not being able to touch her, to talk, to laugh, to share moments with her for years, was almost unbearable.
She was my best friend, my confidante, the person who knew me better than anyone else. And yet, a few months ago, I had come to realize that I wanted her to be more than that. The fear of losing her had kept me from confessing my feelings, afraid that revealing them would jeopardize everything we had built together.
"If you are picked, promise me you will tell me," I said softly, my voice tinged with vulnerability.
Now, as she sat beside me, her presence a comforting anchor in the storm of my thoughts, I couldn't help but cherish every moment we had. Even if it meant keeping the title of her best friend, I knew I would rather have that than nothing at all.
Juno scooted closer, wrapping me in a warm hug. Her embrace was reassuring, a silent promise of solidarity and understanding. "Of course, Y/N," she murmured against my shoulder. "I promise I'll tell you everything.”

Beyond the stars
Chapter 2
Love me, anyway
(JUNO X Fem Reader)
Tumblr media
"J has touched down," echoed a voice outside the receiving end of the air base where my spacecraft had landed. The air pod's doors creaked open with a rush of smoke and air, and I emerged slowly, adjusting to the mix of greens and blue sky after years on Mars. The Earth's gravitational pull felt heavier than I remembered, prompting me to keep my space suit on, as advised by home base. Surveying the bustling scene around the docking station, a mix of familiar faces and new arrivals greeted me, and I couldn't help but smile.
"Wow, lots of new faces, and some old ones too! No need to be shy—I know you all must have questions," I announced with a nervous giggle, suddenly feeling like the center of attention. Blushing slightly, I waved them over, noting a figure that stood out amongst the crowd—my mother. Her smile of genuine relief made my heart swell, and I glided towards her eagerly, meeting her halfway.
"You've grown so much, Juno! Your hair is so short now, and you look so mature," she whispered warmly as she pulled me into a tight embrace. Even through my suit, I could feel her warmth, grounding me in the familiar comfort . Stepping back to look at her, I noticed the gentle signs of aging—more wrinkles, a few strands of gray—but her presence was as reassuring as ever, the woman who shaped me into who I had become.
"Mom, you wouldn't believe what I've seen, the things on Mars I've met!" I exclaimed excitedly, scanning the crowd for a particular face. My expression fell as I realized she wasn't there—my guiding star, Y/N. Disappointment flickered across my face, and my mother noticed immediately.
"She works here, Juno," she said matter-of-factly, smiling knowingly as I turned towards her with embarrassment, letting out a nervous laugh.
"Excuse me, Juno, but we need to test your condition to see if your body can adapt back to Earth's conditions," interrupted a man in a lab coat, flanked by a group of colleagues observing us.
As I followed the scientists towards the testing area, I couldn't shake the anticipation of seeing Y/N again, wondering how she had changed, if at all, since I'd last seen her.The air base buzzed with activity, but my thoughts were consumed by the reunion I hoped would happen soon.
The testing process was rigorous but familiar. Machines beeped and monitors flashed as the scientists measured my physical responses to Earth's atmosphere and gravity. Despite my excitement about reuniting with my Y/N, I focused on cooperating with the tests, knowing they were crucial for my transition back to life on Earth.
After what felt like hours of examinations, the lead scientist approached me with a reassuring smile.
"Your adaptation to Earth's conditions is progressing well, Juno," he said, jotting down notes on his tablet.
"We'll continue to monitor you closely, but so far, everything looks promising. Keep the suit on for a few more days, and then we will see how you feel then alright!”Relieved, I thanked the team and turned to find my mother waiting patiently nearby. Her eyes twinkled with pride and relief.
"I knew you'd handle it like a pro, Juno," she said softly, squeezing my hand.
"Now, shall we find Y/N? She's working in the Missions department” she softly bosted about Y/N.
“So she got a job here after all” I thought to myself.
Finally, we arrived at the Missions ,and Communications wing, where scientists in white coats moved about, engrossed in their work. And there, amidst the controlled chaos of experiments and data analysis, stood Y/N. Her back was turned to us as she focused on a holographic display, her movements precise and deliberate. She was asking about the recent landings……specifically my landing. She looked so worried with her arms waving around. Did she miss me that much?
My heart skipped a beat at the thoughts in my head. I opened my mouth before, and I realized …..I was saying something .
“Y/N?”
Y/N turned around, and our eyes met after what felt like an eternity apart. A smile spread across her face, brightening the room and warming my soul. Without hesitation, she rushed towards me, closing the distance in an instant.I can hear her breathe a sigh of relief.
"Juno, you're finally back," She said shakily as if she was going to cry.
My heart swelled with relief and joy as I reached out to her. Y/N enveloped me in a warm embrace, her H/C hair getting caught in the fabric of my suit. Her overwhelming scent of flowers and sweets sweeping into my helmet. We stood there for a moment, holding each other tightly, the weight of separation melting away. All the little butterflies suddenly returned, and I felt like my 16 year old self again. When I suddenly released, I was in love with my best friend.
"I missed you," I admitted quietly, feeling the depth of my emotions for her. Y/N nodded, her voice barely audible as she murmured something I couldn't quite catch. But at that moment, I understood. I understood the longing, the connection that had transcended the distance between Mars and Earth.
In the midst of the familiar and the new, I knew returning to Earth had been the right choice, even if it was under emergency circumstances overseen by Overwatch. As we lingered in each other's embrace, surrounded by the hum of technology and the buzz of the base, I knew I was home, because she was my home. She gently pulled away, puffing her cheeks out in a mix of frustration and relief.
"I can’t believe you didn't tell me you were leaving! Do you know how worried I was? Then you confess to me and leave me hanging??" she exclaimed, her voice a mix of reproach and teasing. I flinched slightly, anticipating this reaction. But then, unexpectedly, her tone softened, and she burst into laughter, the sound filling the air around us.
Her laughter was like a balm to my soul, something I had longed to hear for years, imagining it in my dreams. Caught off guard by her infectious joy, I found myself blushing and joining in her laughter. It was a release of tension, a shared moment of understanding and connection that reaffirmed our bond.
"Sorry, I really didn't mean to hurt you," I managed to say between giggles. I paused and smiled gently.
“But i really did miss you more than you know” I softly say, hoping she gets what i'm conveying.
Her smile was radiant, and I felt a surge of gratitude for her unwavering support. At that moment, amidst the backdrop of the people around and the swirling emotions between us, I realized how much I had missed her—her laughter, her warmth, her presence ,just her. Y/N clears her throat and pulls me out of my thought’s.
“How about one of these days you come over ,and we will have a sleepover like old times?”
“Yeah how about tonight”

Beyond the stars
Chapter 1
Red with love (Juno x Fem reader)
(Disclaimer this was written before she came out)
Space, somewhere vast and limitless, held a planet that gleamed red under the distant sun. Its gravity was lighter than Earth's, allowing for miles of undulating red rock and a solitary space station anchored to its surface.
In the bustling main office of the space unit at the home office, I found myself staring at the screen, lost in memories. Juno, my childhood best friend, was aboard the in Mars mission. The last time I saw her was at our high school graduation, a day etched vividly in my mind with the scent of flowers and the warmth of spring.
Tumblr media
The memory swept me back to that sunny day. Students buzzed around, their excitement palpable. Amidst it all, Juno's voice and her touch stood out. Her purple hair cascaded around her shoulders, and even in her graduation gown, she exuded a charm that was unique.
"(Y/N)! Pay attention!" Juno's voice broke through my reverie as she grasped my hand. I turned to her, unable to suppress a smile. "Juno, you look so adorable in your gown. Did you curl your hair just for today? Who are you trying to impress? " I teased gently, brushing my thumb over her hand. She blushed, waving off my comment with a playful flick of her hand.
"Only for you, silly. You're my one and only," she replied, her gaze soft yet intense. My heart skipped a beat, a slight blush warming my cheeks.
"Are you ready to close this chapter of our lives?" Juno whispered, leaning into my shoulder.
"Yeah... these years flew by, didn't they?" I murmured, feeling a pang of nostalgia for the years we had spent together.
"Yeah," Juno sighed softly, resting against me.
The memory dissolved as I returned to the present, sitting at my desk in the space unit's office. I refocused on my work, typing away at my keyboard, organizing missions and spacecraft deployments for the communications department. My gaze drifted to a framed photo on my desk—Juno and I at our graduation, captured by her mother's camera.
Next to the photo lay a letter from Juno's mother, handed to me the day after graduation. I remembered the mix of emotions I felt as I read it, knowing it was the last communication before Juno's departure for Mars. Suddenly my mind gets pulled into another memory.
A sudden noise jolted me from my thoughts. I glanced at my phone—it was 10 AM. Breaking news flashed across the screen: "Teen Astronaut Sent to Mars." I ignored it, my focus drawn to unread texts from Juno, received in the early hours of the morning.
3:20 AM
Juno:
"I'm so sorry for not telling you, but I got accepted for the Mars mission!! It's my dream, and I leave in 2 hours. Remember when we played pretend astronauts? Now it's real..."
3:25 AM
Juno:
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. If you had asked me to stay, I might have... You can yell at me when I'm back. I promise I'll come back. I couldn't forget about my favorite girl <3"
4:30 AM
Juno:
"They just took my official pictures. It feels surreal. I wish you were here. I just want to hear your voice again. I'm nervous, even scared... I'm just telling myself to breathe. Just like how you taught me to do."
4:50 AM
Juno:
"Blasting off soon. They're giving me final preparations. I brought a picture of my mom, auntie, you, and me. You're with me in space, too now! Haha! But my mom has something for you. She'll be home tomorrow..."
5:00 AM
Juno:
"Blast off... See you... take care of yourself (Y/N). I love you <3"
The realization hit that i'm sitting in my office chair, that the memory slowly blurred. Tears blurred my vision as I sat in my office chair, clutching the letter from Juno. Her words echoed in my mind, each sentence a testament to our shared moments and her unwavering affection. The page have not withered one bit even after five years.
"Dear (Y/N),
Years I spent with you... every single one I have in my mind. Every smile, every laugh, you have consumed every single memory. Through the sun, moon, rain, and snow. I can’t seem to get enough. It makes me sweat, 'cause you're always in my head. It turns me red with love.
So when I come home, please call my name, and I will always love you. Tomorrow is more than yesterday. I love you, I need you, and so promise me you'll never let this go."
Juno's heartfelt words cut through the pain, reminding me of her enduring presence in my life, even as she journeyed across the vast expanse of space. Her love and longing were palpable in every line, and I felt the weight of our unspoken feelings.
I wiped away tears, my heart heavy with regret for not responding sooner, for not telling her how much she meant to me before she embarked on her mission. The memories flooded back—our shared dreams of exploration, our laughter echoing through the halls of our school, and the comfort of her presence in moments of doubt.
With trembling hands, I reached for the framed photo of us at graduation, captured in a moment of pure happiness. Juno's smile was infectious, her eyes filled with determination and hope . How could I have let her slip away without telling her everything I felt?
I slowly closed my eyes as another memory rushed to my mind. Outside, the world rushed by in a blur as I raced towards Juno's house, my thoughts consumed by memories of our shared adventures .The streets seemed quieter than usual, as if holding its breath in anticipation of what was to come.
Arriving at Juno's doorstep, I hesitated for a moment, my hand hovering over the doorbell. What would I say to her mom?.Seconds stretched into eternity until the door swung open, revealing Juno's mother, her eyes red-rimmed from tears. Without a word, she pulled me into a tight embrace, her silent understanding bridging the gap between us.
"I'm sorry," I managed to choke out, the weight of my unspoken feelings heavy in the air.
"She left something for you," Juno's mother whispered, her voice thick with emotion. Leading me inside, she placed a small package in my hands, its weight a tangible reminder of Juno's absence.
Alone in her room, I unwrapped the package with trembling fingers, revealing a carefully folded letter and a photograph of us together, taken during graduation. I flipped the photograph , and The familiar handwriting on the back photo brought tears to my eyes once more.
"(Y/N),
If you're reading this, I hope you know how much you mean to me. Every moment spent by your side has been a gift, and I carry your laughter with me, even among the stars. Promise me you'll keep dreaming,
I'll be back, I promise. Until then, remember that I love you more than words can say. You've always been my guiding star, and I'll carry you with me, always.
With all my love ,Juno
In that moment, surrounded by memories and the tangible proof of Juno's love, I realized that our bond transcended time and space. Though separated by vast distances, our hearts remained intertwined, connected by a love that defied the boundaries of the cosmos.
With renewed determination, I clutched Juno's letter to my chest, vowing to cherish our memories and to wait for the day when she would return. Until then, I would carry her love with me, a beacon of hope in the endless expanse of the universe.
A voice booms over the intercom, jolting me out of the memory quickly
“J has touched down. I repeat, J from the Mars mission has touched down”
"J? J/ I thought no , wait … It’s Juno?!"

The Great burden
Chapter 1: The Sun and the Moon
"Gods... Powerful beings half of the critters of the Eclipse Kingdom believe in. For those who bask in the region, believe in… A god of sorts. The prototype. Books full of prophets of two critters, a child of the sun and a child of the moon, will join in marriage," a figure said to the group of children lying in the grass.
"Ewww, marriage where they kiss and hold and stuff," a yellow chicken kid yelled.
"Awww, I think it's rather nice," one whispered to the child that shouted.
"Quiet now, children, I'm not done. Ahem… Ah, now they will lead the kingdom into a period of peace, but things will stand in the way of their happiness," the teacher explained.
"OH OH isn't the child of the moon the prince of the kingdom?" one of the other children asked.
"Correct!" the teacher replied.
"But how will you know if you are the child of the sun or moon?" the yellow chicken questioned.
"They say that a certain necklace that the palace holds, that they will shine upon touch," the teacher replied.
"So the necklace with the moon glowed when the prince touched it?" the bunny child asked.
"Correct!" the teacher exclaimed.
"Oh, I hope I'm the sun to his moon," said the red bear child. The whole class giggled with a bell going off in the distance.
"Alrighty class, looks like our day has come to a close. Remember your assignment, and I will talk to everyone more tomorrow!" All of the children quickly got up from where they were sitting and grouped up to go home. All except one, the new child from out of the kingdom. The teacher sees him staring off in the distance at all the kids running off. She walks over to where he's sitting down and crouches to his level.
“You alright, Dogday? You had a big day today! How are you feeling?” she questioned the child with floppy ears and a shy smile.
“I'm alright, Mrs. Delight. I just never heard of anything like that before. I'm not one for religion, but that story would be a nice fairytale!” the child explained. Mrs. Delight giggled at his reply.
“I guess so! Now now, It’s after hours. Why don't you go home now, and we can chat all about it tomorrow?” she offered the child a hand up and a small smile. He slowly grabbed her hand and stood with her. Brushing off some dirt, he smiled and waved her off as he slowly started walking away with his tail wagging.
“He’s got a spark, huh… I have a feeling he's going to do great things,” Mrs. Delight said quietly to herself as she placed a hand on her hip.

Eight years later…
"Hey, you gotta keep up, dude," the all grown-up chicken shouted to the dog man, who was walking a bit far back from him.
“Haha, hey, you're running too fast… whoa,” the dog chuckled as he finally caught up to the chicken. He slightly bumped his shoulder. Then seeing a group of critters surrounding the school, they both quickly glanced at each other then at the crowd.
"What the heck is happening?" the chicken exclaimed. They closely walked side by side, entering the mass of critters. Some of them were critters they had never seen before. The dog scanned the crowd until he saw two familiar faces of his friends. He brushed past other critters, dragging the chicken with him, and submerged himself in the crowd to finally reach his friends.
"Bobby! Hoppy!" he happily greeted his friends with a wide smile on his face.
“Oh! Dogday! Hello you too KFC!” said the green rabbit dressed in her sports attire with her tennis hat on her head.
“Dogday! Kicken!” the bear said happily as she swayed in her pink and white dress, then smiled brightly at all of them.
“Hey, do either of you know what the heck is happening?” Kicken asked both of them, readjusting his sleeves on his biker jacket. Bobby stims with excitement at his question.
“The prince is here!!!!” she burst out with excitement. Hoppy placed a hand on Bobby’s back as if to tell her to calm down, knowing there were a lot of critters around. This statement intrigued Dogday’s interest as his ears perked up hearing this.
“Yeah, apparently he wants to attend high school for his last year,” Hoppy explained, sighing knowing it's gonna be crazy, before Bobby butted in with.
“I have a feeling he’s looking for the child of the sun, his partner, the love of his life!!!!” she squealed, clearly fangirling, but some critters around the group shot the girl weird looks. Hoppy looked around at the group of critters around bobby ,and shot them a mean look Kicken then laughed . Dogday wondered to himself why this school, and why now, glancing at the faces of his friends. They were all chatting with Bobby she was telling them more info about the prince. With Hoppy and Kicken laughing with each other about how much Bobby knows about this subject.
Then they heard the loudspeaker go off and heard a voice ringing throughout the school's property. “Today is just a regular day now everyone goes to class, and if you don't attend our school, please kindly escort yourself off the property!!!!” A booming voice that the students recognized as their teacher Mrs. Delight. Loud discourse from the critters surrounding the group could be heard, and the crowd around the school slowly dispersed. As Dogday observed the looks on people's faces, feeding into his desire on why so many people were interested in the prince's whereabouts and how he acted as a critter. His mind zoned out with so many thoughts until he heard.
“Dude, DogDay? Are you coming, the path is clear, and I don’t know about you, but I don't wanna be lectured by Mrs. Delight again. Last time was so uncool…” Kicken waved his hand Dogday’s way, telling him to walk. The dog chuckled as the group walked into the building.
Critters scurried to their designated classes throughout the buildings. As some leaned against the wall talking to their friends and or partners, whispers about the prince caught the attention of the dog, who slowly walked through the hall. Critters gave a quick glance to Dogday ,and he just smiled back.
“SHIT” Hoppy shouted suddenly realized she had homework and forgot her whole backpack. Kicken laughed at her situation.
“I thought you were on top of things, Judy Hopps?” he teased her as he nudged her arm,and she shot him a look. As they slowly approached the classroom they were all assigned to. Dogday pulled in front of the group so he could hold the classroom door for them all as he did every morning. But as he tried to grab the door handle, Bobby quickly grabbed it for him.
“Nah, this time let me, Dogday,” she smiled. He barked out a quick thanks and headed inside. Then he paused in the doorway, and his eyes meeting with a pair of yellow moonlike eyes staring at him. His gaze captured a cat boy who was sitting in the window seat with a moon gem on his forehead and a crescent moon amulet necklace. He was wearing royal attire..., but what was even more shocking was the critters he was hanging out with. They were sitting at a group of desks: a unicorn, a pig, and an elephant. Two of them were sporting royal attire, and one of them was wearing casual clothes with an apron.
“Ah, Dogday, just the dog I've been wanting to see!” rang a voice at the front of the classroom. There stood his teacher Mrs. Delight as she just got done writing something on the chalkboard. She turned around and gave him a huge smile as she waved him over. Dogday finally walked through the door frame, walking over to Mrs. Delight. The other critter crew walked closely behind Dogday as they tried to listen in.
“Hello Mrs. Delight, Good Morning! Is there a reason you need me?” he questioned with a slight tilt of the head.
“Yes, I’m sure you are well aware of the current situation at the moment. Yes, we have a new student, and yes it’s the prince,” she explained with a smile. “But he brought some friends from inside the castle with him. So I trust you with keeping them happy and feeling welcomed?” she asked him gently. Dogday rapidly nodded his head as his tail started wagging, knowing he liked making friends. Mrs. Delight nodded and giggled at his behavior as she clapped her hands together.
“Alright, I’ve arranged your table group with them. So for now, you will be sitting with them. Now that's all I have for you for now. So hurry to your seat before everyone starts shoveling in,” she gently patted his back. By the time Dogday turned back around, all of his friends were setting in their assigned table groups. Then he gently searched back at the cat boy's table group with his eyes and slowly made his way to the corner table group. As he approached, he felt all eyes on him, including those enchanting moon-shaped eyes. He stopped in the only open spot at the table . The cat boy raised a brow and tilted his head.
“Hello to you all! I’m Dogday. I'm basically gonna be your student guide to everything at this school! So if you have any questions about the school or any critter or homework, I can answer mostly anything for you,” he said kindly as he smiled at all of them. The elephant carefully pulled out the chair in front of Dogday and gestured for him to sit. Dogday smiled at him and gently took a seat. The elephant turned to him and gestured to himself.
“Hello, My name is Bubba… Bubba Bubbaphant. I’m the Prince's Royal adviser, and personal assistant. The unicorn's name is Crafty, and the pig's name is Picky. And the prince, his name is-” Bubba Paused as the prince put a paw on Bubba's shoulder as if saying let me.
“My name is Catnap. Please, there is no need to call me anything but that.” A gentle and soothing voice erupted from the cat as he also finger spelled his name in Sign language.
“I don’t wish to make a fuss. I may be the child of the moon, but I want to lead a fun life outside the castle. Only the prototype can know what goes on inside the castle,” he gently explained to the dog boy . As Dogday settled into his seat, he couldn't shake the curiosity swirling within him like a whirlpool. The presence of Catnap, the prince, and his electric entourage stirred up a myriad of questions in his mind. What was life like inside the castle walls? How did the prince envision his time at the school? And most intriguingly, what secrets lay hidden behind those enigmatic moon-shaped eyes?
Before he knew it he lost track of the other students filling into the classroom ,and the bell rang to commence classes to start. The classroom buzzed with a subdued energy as Mrs. Delight began her lesson. Dogday's attention, however, kept drifting back to Catnap and his companions. Picky, the pig, seemed to be engrossed in the lesson. Crafty, the unicorn, appeared lost in thought, occasionally scribbling doodles on a notepad that Dogday couldn't quite make out from his angle. Bubba, the gentle giant of an elephant, exuded an air of serene wisdom, his eyes betraying a depth of experience beyond his years. Why was he even in high school here with the prince? He looks so bored with the lesson almost if he knows everything.
As the lesson progressed, Dogday found himself stealing glances at Catnap, who seemed to be listening intently, his expression a mask of serene concentration. There was an aura of quiet authority about him, tempered by a palpable sense of humility that belied his royal status. Dogday couldn't help but admire the prince's composure, especially in the face of the whispered rumors and sidelong glances that seemed to follow him wherever he went.
When the bell finally rang, signaling the end of the lesson, Dogday found himself torn between the familiar comfort of his friends and the magnetic pull of Catnap and his companions. With a quick nod to his friends sitting on the other side of the room , he gathered his things and walked on to the other side of the table where Catnap was sitting . As a small conversation took over the table they were sitting at a small voice pierced through it all.
"Hey, um, Catnap, right?" Dogday ventured, trying to keep his tone casual despite the flutter of nerves in his chest. Bubba ,and Picky look at the Dog with curious intent as Crafty sketches on her notepad in front of her. Catnap looked up from his notes, his moon-shaped eyes meeting Dogday's gaze with a faint glimmer of curiosity.
"Yes, that's correct. And you must be Dogday, our esteemed student guide," he replied, a hint of amusement tugging at the corners of his mouth .Dogday felt a rush of warmth at Catnap's words, his tail wagging involuntarily at the praise.
"Yeah, that's me!..... So, uh.., welcome to the school, I guess. If you ever need anything, just let me know. I'm here to help," he said, hoping he sounded more confident than he felt. Catnap inclined his head in acknowledgment, a small smile playing across his lips.
"Thank you, Dogday. Your hospitality is greatly appreciated. I have a feeling we'll get along just fine," he said, his voice carrying a note of genuine warmth as he slowly gathered his notebook. Dogday stood there nervous for what he wanted to blurt out.
“Would you ,and your group… want to hang out with me and my friends? I promise they are chill ,and charming bunch of critters” The Dog suggested and tilted his head to the side. Feeling nauseous for asking such a question. Millions of things rang through his head before he realized he's been staring at at the cat. Zoning out on those moon-like eyes he has. Catnap’s eyes softened by his suggestion. Never really having an outside group of friends with no royal blood or attachment to himself. He found himself surprised ,and thankful.Catnap regarded Dogday with a thoughtful expression, his moon-shaped eyes glinting with a hint of curiosity. After a moment of contemplation, he nodded slowly.
"I appreciate the offer, Dogday. It would be a welcome change of pace to spend time with you ,and your group," Catnap replied, his voice carrying a genuine warmth. With response Dogday's eyes flashed for a second almost as bright as the sun. Catnap smiled at the thought of his attitude.
Bubba, Picky, and Crafty exchanged glances, silently communicating with each other before nodding in agreement. Dogday couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of introducing his friends to Catnap and his companions.
"Great! How about we meet up at lunch then? There's a nice spot on this hill we usually go to when we eat lunch. There is this big tree provides a lot of shade too! ," Dogday suggested eagerly, his tail wagging with anticipation .Catnap smiled softly, and chuckled a spark of curiosity dancing in his eyes.
"That sounds lovely. Sounds quite fun too." he agreed before gathering his belongings and rising from his seat. Dogday couldn't shake the feeling of excitement coursing through him. Meeting the prince and his friends had opened up a whole new world of possibilities.
“So Catnap what period do you have next?”
