poetic rambling #2 (long time no see)
That mysterious force that everyone tries to label, describe, claim, the force behind our world, our universe, the lifeforce in all of us (not to be confused with our souls though) — what do you do when it tries to tell you something? Do you listen? Heed its words, its warnings, its whispers? I, for one, follow with bated breath, lungs filled with the alluring air of curiosity, for a human’s purpose is not stagnant, nor is it to be static. And the world is telling me to go. Telling me in the way the wind pushes against my back, in the way the birches’ leaves are starkly vibrant to the dull world that is its frame, its white trunk pale like sun bleached bone because it is actually bone. The way my vision vignettes, blurring out those evolutionarily useful peripherals, so all I see is my path ahead, the back and forth of my worn out shoes on equally worn out pavement, a bee — no, a dragonfly? Indeed, it really is a bee — that crosses my dizzied vision which my eyes drowsily follow until my vision can no longer capture it. Vision, which must be our most untrustworthy sense, a real lie, since it’s nothing but the reflection of light off of our surroundings, funneled into the cones in our eyes and tossed around in our brains so it makes sense. In that long arduous path this supposed picture must take to reach our understanding, any of that information can be altered. So what are we ever actually seeing, other than what our brains are wanting us to. This is how I know that that force I was talking about is taking the lead, when it lays its hand across my eyelids as one would do with a corpse with its eyes still open, then gently covering my ears as a parent would do with a child to guard from choice words, (or a sibling to guard from a parent’s unrestrained ones). At this point am I walking or flying? I could’ve walked off the face of the Earth long ago. For all I know, I am no longer here.

Do you all know Reverse: 1999? It's my favorite game, and this is Sonetto from said game :] it's not her usual attire though, I just felt like drawing her like that lol

poetic rambling #1
Is there not a sickly beauty to those swirling tendrils of gas, yellow in the light that reflects pallidly off its twisting surface? It reflects off the menacing contraptions of steel it hides, enhancing the harsh steely lights that blind in their numbers. It hides the low-set buildings, heaping across the expanse of cleared land, small from the distance you care only to observe. Maybe in another world our Earth’s plague is a natural state of pristine beauty, such as the great gas giants we call ours — colossal and beautiful in their grandness — in a solar system where we are of the highest form. Or only form I suppose. Yet in the world we know, her beauty lies in the vivid blues and greens of her curves, the smears of oranges and yellows in places where her tears do not run, blacks in the depths of pressure where even the strains of our illusion of a society does not prepare us for. Her beauty is hers, so why is the beauty of Venus, a more likely comparison to the plague we’ve given our roots than our quietly looming gas giants of charm, present here? Venus, sweltering and acidic, bewitching to even our forefathers who deemed her to be Aphrodite. Soon there will be no separation between our worlds, and while our society struggles to accept the idea that everyone really is the same, we also struggle to accept the importance of uniqueness, the flavor that provides us with the perspective to truly appreciate beauty. For beauty, in all its wondrousness, is all that these worlds have to offer.
